Had a very succesful day at Lakeside today. Brought a really nice pair of jeans from Marks and they fit my short legs. Woo hoo! Got a couple of nice tops in H & M too. Dp and I also sorted out our wedding rings and what the dsd's will wear on the day. We then ended up at Bella Italia scoffing some lovely pasta as I knew I would have no energy for cooking a roast when I got home

Good luck with the scan tomorrow Derah, I hope your dp stops being grumpy.

Hi-feels strange posting cos everyone seems to know each other so well and have daily chat sessions. Sorry if this has been brought up already, but is everyone having ribcage pain and/or throbbing upper backpain? That along with permanent heartburn?

I've never done this whole pregnancy thing before so it's all new to me and I am realising that people have been holding back from telling me stuff like your ribcage cranks itself open as your uterus rises above the belly button!!! ARGH!!! OUCH! I have been in pain pain pain but it's just very uncomfortable dull achy pain all of the time. Also, the wee one isn't squirming around as much as before - just giving big kicks and punches from time to time.... It especially enjoys kicking me quite low down... I wonder if it's trying to kick it's way out early sometimes and it is pretty painful - must be a girl!!! Ha ha.

Anyway, any advice on the upper back pain? I have a good bra and it makes no difference to the back pain if it is on or off. I guess it might be related to the heartburn??? I dunno...

Thanks for reading!!! Happy Monday..

Paranoid, you are up late like me. Damn work project but then insomnia and second trimester energy serving me well!

I too have rib cage pain, particularly when I eat. I think this and other pains/aches made worse by not sleeping with maternity pillow (it's time...) - need to go up and get my friend's that she said I could borrow!

Good luck with scans tomorrow!

And ladies, let's take care of oursleves (more to me than the list as I am normally very clumsy, shocking I haven't broken something by now) - sorry to those who are hurting.

MM

PS to Mods - if you look back a few pages I was convinced I was having a boy but no...is girl!

turtle23 · 05/11/2007 08:34

Good luck Derah and anyone else with a scan today! Still two days left for me!

hi Paranoid, not having the rib pain (maybe cos i've been sleeping with the body pillow for about a month now?!) but definitely with you on the indigestion. Had it constantly since about baby's conception, but given up on the natural remedies now and just swig from a bottle of gaviscon! Instant relief, and only has to be a small swig
My aches are more belly than rib, so if i strain a muscle or they're in mid stretch it's agony if I cough and clench those muscles! My baby appears to be kicking or punching right in the nethers which is very weird...only occasionally in the middle of the tum, but mostly seems to be somersaulting somewhere in my middle near nothing at all!

e14mum · 05/11/2007 10:02

Good morning,

Hope you all had ok weekends. DH was away hiking with his mates, but I don't think I can handle him going away anymore- the hormonal-induced stress and worry is too much for me! However, I got to catch up properly with some girlfriends, so it was a nice weekend. And the fireworks display in Vicky Park was fantastic- this borough doesn't have a good reputation for doing a lot really well, but they do good fireworks!

My aches are leg/hip related, but a good friend warned me of the ribcage pain and said she couldn't sit properly for ages with it. Ahh... all these things to look forward to.

We've just been offered a brand-new travel cot, and the loan of a maxi-cosi to fit our bug. Double good news!

glammama · 05/11/2007 10:04

Good luck Derah and everyone else with scans.
Paranoid, I have the same pain too and it is hideous. Like fitnforty I glug Gaviscon. Have to do it holding my nose otherwise it won't go down. I have the aniseed one and I try and pretend it's Pernod. I drank a big glass of cold apple juice yesterday and that triggered it so you might find that certain things make it worse for you. I believe a milky drink can ease discomfort and being propped on pillows and not lying down after eating/drinking. But I do recommend Gaviscon. Hope it feels better soon.

e14mum · 05/11/2007 10:06

lol at the pernod!

glammama · 05/11/2007 10:06

e14mum, My DD went to Vicky Park with her dad to see the fireworks and they were right at the front. I was in blimming Ikea getting a computer desk for DP who moved in this weekend!!!!

preggersagain · 05/11/2007 10:28

morning all! Hope everyone had fun over the weekend.

I don't really like fireworks and have a phobia of fire so bonfire's are not something i choose to attend so i spent the weekend choosing paint, carpets and curtains for the nursery! it is being painted the week before chrimbo and the carpet is being laid on the 3rd Jan- then the transformation will be complete- a pink palace of a bedroom for the twins. I am having extreme difficulty finding a pink feeding chair (or a tub chair would do) so if anyone comes across one let me know

The girls are playing merry hell with ,my bladder at the moment, they can't stay still, and i'm sure they're practicing ballet moves during the night.

Anyone else umm.......... windy atm? poor dh often looks slightly green when downwind of me , just wondered if anyone had had the problem and found a solution?

turtle23 · 05/11/2007 10:31

I must remember how lucky I am...no aches and pains(well, pregnancy induced, I mean!), no indigestion, illness, piles, bladder weakness.. am content with my minor insomnia! (touches tables, crosses fingers, etc.)
(am having to lock fridge though...soooooo hungry)

Preggers, habitat has a lovely berry pink rocker right now... v. modern, not sure if it's your style but i thought it was lovely in the shop. [http://www.habitat.co.uk/fcp/product/browse/Rocking-chair-with-berry-wool-cushion-and-natural-legs/ 10000068 here]

e14mum · 05/11/2007 10:41

preggersagain · 05/11/2007 10:43

turtle23 · 05/11/2007 12:25

came across this site and thought it might be useful for all of us in a few months time:
cute cards etc
I'm seriously considering making xmas cards with scan pic on for a few relatives.

Hello,

Thank you for the baby bags advice.
Marchmum, I am not sure that all the Zara's have a maternity range in all their store but the followings surely have : Zara Oxford Street (the big one) and Zara Knightsbridge. They are usually with the rest of the womenswear, not hidden away like in other shops. In the few times I have been to one many non-pregnant people look at them and pick an item up not realising for a while it is a pregnancy jumper etc...which is great ...we are human after all....

e14mum, thanks for the rocking chair advice, it looks great but if you don't want to spend that much, IKEA (same company) do a very similar one.

Turtle23, I hope you have recovered from your fall...

I am not part of an Union and don't want to make a fuss but I save everything etc...just in case for later...just so sad....Simply want to get on with my job.

Anyhow, a great week to everyone...it is getting nearer and nearer

merryberry · 05/11/2007 13:13

guess where i won't be shopping: 'beached whale' maternity shop in cheltenham. seriously. just found it listed online.

did they get that name from the suicidal business ideas directory??

HolidaysQueen · 05/11/2007 13:29

Merryberry - they probably thought it would appeal to DHs/DPs with a very dodgy sense of humour...

preggersagain · 05/11/2007 13:29

anyone else had tingly toes while i remember? Keeps happening, very sharp pins and needles but only in my toes

HolidaysQueen · 05/11/2007 13:42

preggers - i've not had it in my toes but i get really bad pins and needles in my hands and fingers, especially at night. I think it is quite common in pregnancy (or at least that is what i keep telling myself!)

spugs · 05/11/2007 13:45

ive been lucky with my last 2 pregnancys and only got heart burn towards the end when baby was bigger. so far so good with this one.

bought a bugaboo changing bag of ebay to match pram so hopefully will get that in a day or two.

scan on wed, trying not to get excited about finding out incaase they cant see but still feeling nervous

preggersagain · 05/11/2007 13:48

HQ- that sounds like carpel tunnel syndrome- especially at night, it is caused by the increase in fluid in your body putting pressure on the carpel nerve in your wrist, it stays during pregnancy but dissapears as quickly as it comes- usually within a week of the birth. If it gets really bad- ie if your hands are totally numb and colder to touch than your other extremities go and get a referal to a physio- they can fit a support thing for nightime use. hth

Brazilianmum · 05/11/2007 13:48

Hello ladies, I'm back from Chicago and fully recovered from a horrible cold. Went a bit mad with the shopping and got lots of clothes and other bits for LO. The best buy was a very small travel bed which folds into a bag for $30. www.target.com/Eddie-Bauer-Infant-Travel-Bed/dp/B000COW7WS/qid=1194270271/ref=br_1_3/602-4468 526-1692648?ie=UTF8&node=162751011&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1.
Although I must say that I was a little disappointed with the shops as I thought there would be so much more than we have.

LO is kicking a lot and keeps pocking me when I want to sleep.

Has anyone received their MAT B1 certificate? I'm 23+4 now and was wondering if I should be chasing my doctor or midwife for it.

MerlinsBeard · 05/11/2007 13:54

think MATB1 is from 29 weeks but could be mistaken

Brazilianmum · 05/11/2007 13:56

Sorry, link doesn't work, hopefully this one will
