Thats fantastic news preggers! I wouldn't mind a bit of news like that!

Seeing as you are around, I just thought I would share an amusing story with you. I went to the baby show the other week and found your stand (at leats, I was trying to remember what you'd said ages ago. And there were lots of stokke things...) Anyway, I loitered for a few minutes then went up to a lady and quietly said "are you preggersagain?" She said "Pardon? What do you mean 'again'?" At which point I felt a little stupid, yet still persisted (!!) "is your nickname Preggersagain?". She looked a cross between amused, confused and embarrassed (probably on my behalf!).
So anyway, I tried to come and say Hi but it went a bit pear-shaped..... I considered coming bak later but felt like enough of a pratt already

imjin100 · 31/10/2007 16:37

welcome back feedmeknow....I love your story!
I'm just back from the midwife and had my first heart beat listen - totally fantastic and even allowed to celebrate with a chocolate biscuit cos i'm not diabetic - hurray all round

e14mum · 31/10/2007 17:09

Hey all,

Love the story feedmenow. Sounds like something that would happen to me!

Imjin, we're twins these days- had my first heartbeat listen at the midwife too! It was 149bpm, does this mean it's a boy or girl??

Can I ask all you second-or-more-timers: do you actually meet a midwife who may deliver the baby during any of these checkups?

E x

imjin100 · 31/10/2007 17:12

oh E14 - I didn't ask what speed it was....blow!
however, I have heard about this theory but apparently a busy boy/girl or a lazy one of either can discount all theories...so I'm told! What's your due date - is it also 1st March?

e14mum · 31/10/2007 17:13

no, 9th, but it seems we're doing the same thing these days- your scan was on monday too, right?

imjin100 · 31/10/2007 17:14

yes absolutely and I knew we were doing things on the same day but I couldn't remember your due date. I have a feeling (in my bones!) that this one will be born on 8th March - perhaps I'll steal your due date and have it on the 9th instead.
I've got to have two more scans - have you..

e14mum · 31/10/2007 17:19

no, no more as far as we know. Wish we did- I might try harder to convince DH that we should find out the sex!! Although I do want the surprise at birth too....
I'd love it if it was born on the 8th (less time to wait!)- maybe we'll be twins afterall

gingercat12 · 31/10/2007 17:59

Sorry I have gone so quiet, but am researching prams, pushchairs or whatever them things called. So mainly just read you and very happy about all the good news.

turtle23 · 31/10/2007 18:58

Have just had a text from glammama to say her internet is broken again, but to let everyone know her scan went very well and we have YET ANOTHER BOY to add to the group! She is over the moon and will be back as soon as they fix her internet.

E14 in Winchester the midwives I see for normal appointments only deliver babies during busy times. I saw about 6 different midwives during my pregnancy and during my labour there was a shift change. Ironically my assigned midwife from my pregnancy delivered my neighbour's baby though!

Good luck for the scans turtle spugs

HolidaysQueen · 31/10/2007 19:25

Hey all - brilliant scan / heartbeat news, and nice to welcome back people too!!!

I had a crappy day at work with more of the fall out of the restructuring so stomped off to H&M this evening to check our their maternity range. I am now totally happy

They have 20% off at the moment if you spend £40 or more so well worth checking out. I spent a small fortune but got 2 pairs of trousers, 4 tops, a skirt and a lovely black winter coat. HURRAY!

Off to Pizza Express with DH for an American Hot now (2 for 1 with Nectar points - the bargains continue!) and I'm going to dress up in my lovely new maternity clothes.

papaya · 31/10/2007 20:08

congrats on scan winky and glamma!!!! I too have been for my 20 week scan the sonographer was bloody AWFUL, sooooo depressing, me and DH felt a little dissapointed after, albeit fanstatic to see little one wriggling on the screen!!!!!! everything looks ok huge sigh of relief!! Saw all chambers of heart, kidney liver etc etc!! I didnt dare ask about the sex after her introduction to me was "you do realise you are here for an anomaly scan, which checks if your baby is ok and nothing else...." tried to look out for obvious male parts but I couldnt even make out the head at one point so I really am not the best judge on whether i thought I saw something or not!!!!!

anyhoo, we dont know whether its pink or blue so I will have to stay in the cream or yellow category at the moment Not that I mind now I have had a few hours to get used to the idea of a surprise next march.....plus its healthy so far so good imo

good luck with any scans tomorow!!!!

monthlymayhem · 31/10/2007 23:27

Congrats to all those with scan news today!! Papaya, sorry to hear you got such a crappy sonographer. Isn't it amazing how a stroppy midwife/sonographer/medic can make you feel completely intimidated when pg!

I bought a tomee tippee (sp?) breast pump yesterday as they were half price in Morrisons. Not sure if I even need one, but guess for expressing it will be handy to have and at £12 it seemed like a bargain..

preggersagain · 01/11/2007 10:53

morning all!!

just been to the scan- twins are absolutely fine- identical and share a placenta so will have lots and lots more scans to check for twin to twin transfusion starting at 28 weeks then every 2/3 weeks after that, providing everything is ok and there are no complications (i think they may count stubbing my toe a complication though) and as long as the babies are head down etc and not in an awkward position they will consider a home-birth for twins
Well anyway you'd all probably like to know the names of my twins and drumroll please....... they will be called........

Amelia and Carys i was totally wrong the balance of my household will be fine- all even (and an excuse to buy pink things now

ClaphamLauren · 01/11/2007 11:04

WOW! CONGRATULATIONS preggers!!!

Gorgeous names, I named my god daughter Amelia

littleducks · 01/11/2007 11:05

hi everyone,
congrats on all the good scan news, i havent been around much but am now scanning the thread to check on everyone

my pregnancy brain is getting terrible, i have misplaced the paper with my scan date so im not sure if its next wed at 3 or the following week i have been trying to ring the hosp to find out but no one answers!

i am also a bit peeved i have to go to the hosp especially to collect my notes! i thought i could pick them up at my scan but apparently i have to go for an allocated slot on another day, even though i will only see a recep5tionist! Last time my midwife gave them to me, much simpler, i really do miss the surestart care, the midwives were brill!

I have been babysitting a friends dds, which includes a school run so am feeling exhausted. and as a quick hijack if anyone knows about vauxhall vectras and stage one carseats could they pop to my thread (in products) as im not getting any responses atm.

ClaphamLauren · 01/11/2007 11:06

Congratulations to everyone else who has had scans confirming the bubba's are healthy!

I got a bit carried away with the news of twin girls hehe.

I am so envious that I have to wait until 14th November for my scan! I look massive too, more like 32 weeks than 22 weeks!

preggersagain · 01/11/2007 11:08

Sad i know!!!! but i was soooo convinced i was doomed forevermore to live in a house full of men, i can't believe it and i'm obsessed by pink so girly shopping is so much fun for me

HolidaysQueen · 01/11/2007 12:10

preggers - i am so thrilled for you! Buy all the pink you want :-)

preggersagain · 01/11/2007 12:18

HQ- you have nooo idea- my car is already full of stuff to take home with me

i'm still chuckling about the baby show incident- no-one said anything to me but then again they probably put it down to preg hormones or thought you were crazy

i'm off shopping now- i may find some items other than pink but the chances are very slim

HolidaysQueen · 01/11/2007 12:54

a bit of lilac looks quite nice on a baby girl too, just in case you are pinked out ;-)

e14mum · 01/11/2007 14:59

Oohhh... so exciting preggers!

Should it be this hard to get a prescription from the gp?? The midwife was supposed to request it on Tues after my appointment, then when I went to pick it up today there's no record of it, and I've finally just spoken to them again and I have to wait for the gp to call me before I can get anything!! Of course they close at 6 and there's no way I'm getting home before that tonight. Grrr Grrr double Grrr...

At least we're having cakes at our lab meeting in a couple minutes.

hellyberry · 01/11/2007 15:22

lol @ feedmenow - wonder if we can search mumsnet under 'i was working at the baby show and this cheeky moo came up to me and said...'

CONGRATS on all scans

Lol at preggersagain and the toe stubbing.

monthlymayhem · 01/11/2007 15:42

Congrats Preggersagain, that is fantastic news!!! Enjoy all of your pink shopping

Feedmenow - loved you story, tee hee...

MarchMum · 01/11/2007 16:18

Prize for the first one to find the cheeky moo thread - hee hee...

CONGRATS preggers - you deserve some girls after carrying two sets of twins, so excited for you. My girl LO says 'kick kick' at the news and she's glad to have some company in March.

Am also researching prams at the moment - v frustrating and how the hell do I know which one I want? What I really wish I had was a squirmy ill behaved six month baby I could take round to all the shops and try them out. Any idea where I can get one of those? :.)

Welcome to new people and welcome back to others!
