Had a lovely present in the post from friends today - tiny Chewbacca onesie from Gap (we are big Star Wars fans) - I showed my DS (12) who just grunted at me so he's still as enthusiastic as ever about the new arrival. He got all mardy with me for putting his baby blanket in the cot the other day when I thought it was really sweet to be passing down a baby blanket between siblings - bearing in mind he didn't know this blanket existed until I told him what it was Hmm - but now I am giving HIS baby blanket away. Oh dear.

I am praying it all works out when baby is here and is not so miserable.

MooseWL · 07/09/2020 17:13

@lilice it terrifies me that you had your first at 37 weeks as I am banking on mine being late as he's a first baby because I am 100% not ready 😂 did you have a feeling it would happen early?

ShiningStarz · 07/09/2020 18:22

I know @Emmy2020 we are very excited!!! Little one moving around a lot this afternoon!!
Think I'll do lots of walking, ball bouncing, try colostrum harvesting tonight and tomorrow in the hope I can start naturally by tomorrow night 🤞🤞

Lilice · 07/09/2020 18:55

@MooseWL no it took me by surprise as I also thought I'd be overdue seeing it was my first. I did have a false alarm the previous week as I was "leaking" and that made me pack my hospital bags. I dont feel like it's going to happen early this time again.
@flameprincess hopefully he'll be more excited once the baby is here, im sure it will all work out.

flameprincess · 07/09/2020 19:19

@MooseWL my first was at 37 weeks too - it happens! This one seems happy where he is though.

sianyflewog · 07/09/2020 20:49

Have you packed your bag yet @MooseWL? It is d-day!

Husband and father in law painted the nursery today, and my father in law is coming over tomorrow to do another coat and the glossing. I’m excited to get the clothes put away as it will make me feel a bit more organised! I’ve put the crib up in our bedroom today, and the Moses basket is downstairs for the dog and H to get used to. Getting so close!

@ShiningStarz Fingers crossed for you hun

Emmy2020 · 07/09/2020 22:40

So worrying that my children’s school has been on tv tonight as 5 people have got Covid and they are stopping the whole year going to school, keeping them off for 2 weeks. Luckily my childrens year groups aren’t effected so will still be going tomorrow but it’s so worrying knowing it’s been in their school.

ShiningStarz · 07/09/2020 23:10

@Emmy2020 I think with the schools and universities opening now, it's going to be similar story in other places too. It's crap.
I have to get my COVID test tomorrow and then self isolate. What on earth are people with kids meant to do / if you've a partner that has to leave the house to work etc! Near impossible. Stay safe x

Emmy2020 · 08/09/2020 04:50

@ShiningStarz Does that effect anything with you going to hospital if you have to self isolate? It’s a nightmare isn’t it. Yeah so difficult if you have kids that are at school and partner that needs to go to work.
I’m really hoping there’s no more cases at the school. I drive them at the moment as it’s in a different town and my parents are going to help too but eventually they’ll have to get the train again and that’s worrying that they have to use public transport too, I’ve bought them more new masks yesterday and they are going to have to be so careful.

ShiningStarz · 08/09/2020 07:25

@Emmy2020 the midwife advises on self isolating after the test, I guess they are trying to reduce the risk for other mums in hospital. I thought it odd they didn't request my partner to get tested! Sort of thought what's the point!!
That's all we can do do, wear masks and hand gel and just be extra cautious.

Xx

LatteLover12 · 08/09/2020 07:56

Wow @ShiningStarz you have to self isolate too? What a nightmare!

I've got to have my test on Friday (but I haven't been told to isolate) and I'm absolutely dreading it. I really don't know why I'm so worked up about it as I'm usually fine with all things medical.

Lilice · 08/09/2020 08:15

@Emmy2020 oh no how stressful! Hopefully there won't be any more cases, I would be worried too.

ShiningStarz · 08/09/2020 08:29

@LatteLover12 I'v had it before as maternity almost admitted me few weeks ago with racing heart. It's fine, very quick swab. Don't worry. Yep thankfully I should be called today with time to be admitted tomorrow so I won't be isolating for long which again is pointless!!!!!
Just stupid box ticking exercise.
We have workmen at ours finishing final bits to the house so I'm just staying downstairs all the time, just popping up to use the loo!!

ShiningStarz · 08/09/2020 08:51

Is anyone taking a hairdryer into hospital?? It'll be so much nicer having a dry head after that first shower!!

MooseWL · 08/09/2020 08:55

@shiningstarz I really don't see the point in them making you isolate for 1 day?!

ShiningStarz · 08/09/2020 09:02

I know @MooseWL I have been at home quite a bit but have seen my parents etc at their house. If there's anyone already with kids and doing school etc it's impossible!!!!

LatteLover12 · 08/09/2020 09:24

That's really reassuring @ShiningStarz thank you.

I've got quite thick hair so I'm planning on getting my mum to put it in a French plait for me the night before my section and not wash it in hospital. I realise this makes me sound about 8 years old! 😂 I'll be able to sleep with it in (and lie on the operating table!) then I'll look like a fairy princess when I take it out 😂😂😂

MooseWL · 08/09/2020 09:44

@lattelover12 I also have thick wild hair and basically live in French plaits when I cba. How old is too old for a plait 😂 that's a good plan for the hospital though I'm already looking forward to the post birth shower!

@sianyflewog I'm going to avoid the question until I can give the correct answer 😂😂😂

ShiningStarz · 08/09/2020 11:20

That's so cute @LatteLover12 when I leave my hair to dry naturally it's very curly, which I don't mind, would just rather have dry hair!! I presuming my shower will include a hair wash, who knows lol

ShiningStarz · 08/09/2020 11:20

Lol @MooseWL 😂😂😂 have you
Not packed your bag yet?!!! Tut tut 🙈🙈

glasha87 · 08/09/2020 12:31

@flameprincess, has your son been an only child? My daughter (12 at the end of next week) has been pretty unenthusiastic but even in the last few days there’s been glimmers of something. By the way asking questions and the likes.
In her school workbook they had to list things they hoped to achieve this year and ‘be a good big sister’ featured on the list. There’s bound to be a bit of fear manifest as apathy in the run up but it’ll all come good 💕

@Emmy2020, that’s a bit unnerving! We forget it’s ever present sometimes when nestled away at home. My daughter plays lots of team sports and my partner works in a busy environment too. All we can do is adhere by guidelines and remain hopeful that others do the same. Here in Ireland the kids from each class are in their own bubble and so there’s no mixing outside the 20 of them - I’d imagine it’s similar over there?

glasha87 · 08/09/2020 12:33

I’m not going to bring a hairdryer but I will be washing my hair! I don’t feel properly clean without doing so, and I’d imagine after it all I will feel quite grimy 😬 I’ll have to pack some good products to tame the frizz instead!

ShiningStarz · 08/09/2020 13:22

Haha @glasha87 I must remember to pack hair oil if I dong bring the hairdryer !!!
