@Emmy2020 - amazing! Do you know what you’re expecting? Are your daughters excited?
Mine, after the initial shock, was very excited - that excitement has tapered off over the last few months but I’m hoping once she meets her that will change again. 11/12 is an interesting age!

I’ve also been experiencing nausea on and off. Thankfully it’s eased up over the last few days but last weekend I threw up after a short car journey 🙈 It is awful, so reminiscent of that trying first trimester! Rest, and hopefully it will ease up too x

flameprincess · 06/09/2020 21:53

What meds are you C-section ladies being given to deal with the pain? Paracetamol doesn't really do much for me - I was given diclofenac 12 years ago not sure if that is still what's used? I remember running out of it and ending up back at the hospital needing another prescription!

MooseWL · 06/09/2020 21:59

Hmm maybe you really can't have too many muslins then...

So excited that tomorrow is my last working Monday in a year 🎉 no more Sunday night blues!

My baby is really active this evening (he's normally only really busy in the mornings.)but my partners family did me a baby afternoon tea today and there was a lot of cake, so he's maybe on a sugar high. And I just saw a leg properly stick out for the first time. I screamed and my partner was like omg what, then he was like argggh I saw it. 😂🤢

Emmy2020 · 06/09/2020 22:00

@glasha87 Thanks 😊 Feeling better than I did but resting in bed, heartburn is now kicking in though😬 It’s strange how the sickness comes back isn’t it?
Yeah both my girls can’t wait, they are really excited! My 11 year old started secondary weds so I’m thinking it will be nice as I will have time with the baby when they are at school. They really want to help out though, so hopefully that will happen! I’m having another girl! How about you?
Is your due date soon?

Lilice · 06/09/2020 22:01

Hope you feel better soon @Emmy2020 I've been pretty exhausted too the last few days. Im glad im not the only one snoring @sianyflewog @glasha87 i think my snores would also penetrate any earplugs 🤣 my husband has been sleeping in a different room for a while now as sleeping with me is a total nightmare, I keep tossing and turning, getting up going to the toilet, sometimes i watch netflix in the middle of the night and im still sleeping with the fan on all night even though it's that hot anymore.
@ShiningStarz hopefully you'll go into labour before Wednesday. Do you know how they'll induce you if it comes to that?

Emmy2020 · 06/09/2020 22:03

@MooseWL Bet you can’t wait to finish work.
I feel like I’m the only one that got put on furlough back in March and I haven’t worked since then! They just kept me on it. Which was pretty good as my sickness was so bad at the beginning so it was nice I could just stay in bed if I wanted.
My maternity leave started Weds, not that it feels any different 😂

Emmy2020 · 06/09/2020 22:05

@Lilice Thank you!
Ha I’m the same, I currently have the fan on, I don’t have it facing me as that would be too cold but just like having a little bit of a breeze!

Lorna198 · 06/09/2020 22:47

@flameprincess I was told to take paracetamol and ibuprofen and that’s all I was given at hospital too. 2 weeks tomorrow since section and I’m doing ok. Few twinges here and there when I bend or move too quick but do notice if I miss a dose so guessing a little while to go yet.

HugeAgeGap · 06/09/2020 22:48

@ChipsAreLife oh my goodness you oooe thing, you've done bloody well to carry on just with that. What about ibuprofen and para together? At least you can buy both those in supermarket to top you up?

How did you get the dressing off? Did you have an ultra sticky waterproof one on? That's what I have and told it comes off Wednesday, dissolvable stitches.

Also am not impressed with your hosp either. I was so worried going in but my hosp has been fantastic, care should be consistent no matter what trust, I'm annoyed for you that u didn't have as good experience as others.

Hopefully your MW can sort something out for you and you feel better soon, I've deffo felt better today and jus hope it continues too.

@glasha87 don't mean to panic you about pain, it's all completely cope able, nothing you can't carry on with, it's just quite tricky getting up initially and moving about for a few days, it's not constant life ruining pain, just on moving around but it eases quickly. Couple of the women on my ward were walking completely normal to the loo and back so doesn't mean you'll feel like I am about being very sensitive there! Good luck when you go in, mine was so lovely and calm xx

HugeAgeGap · 06/09/2020 22:50

What are the cantaloop pants?!?!?

HugeAgeGap · 06/09/2020 22:55

@flameprincess in the hosp I had a suppository initially then my choice of either oral morphine, paracetamol and dihydrocodeine at whatever intervals the computer said, pretty much dosed up on everything max! When I went home I had a shot of morphine before leaving and then given a prescription of dihydrodeine for every 6 hours and told to take with 2 paracetamol. It's taking the edge off but wouldn't say it's amazing! The oral morphine works the best but they don't prescribe that to go home with unfortunately! I had the section Friday midday and felt much better today (Sunday).

What kind of dressing have u got? Mines waterproof and I'm wondering how to get it off, it's super stuck. It comes off Wednesday, dunno if MW does it or me in the shower or something? xx

flameprincess · 06/09/2020 23:23

@HugeAgeGap I'm liking the sound of your hospital more than @Lorna198 's! Ibuprofen and paracetamol just sounds nuts to me for a major op - but I guess if you don't normally take painkillers they work properly. With me unfortunately having suffered with migraines most my life I've abused them and built up a tolerance. I definitely need something stronger to come home with!

Not sure what the procedure is with dressings either I didn't have one at all with my first I was just stapled and stitched then returned to hospital after a couple weeks for the staples to be removed. The hospital I am having my op at is different this time they also said I have to do injections of clexane for 10 days afterwards I never had to do that last time Hmm

ShiningStarz · 06/09/2020 23:58

I had such a lovely bath this evening. I used the tomee tippee thermometer to make sure the water was around 37-38 deg C. It's a fab thermometer, flashes red when it gets above 40!! Great buy for bath baths 💕

ShiningStarz · 06/09/2020 23:58

#baby baths!!

HugeAgeGap · 07/09/2020 00:59

@flameprincess I heard another woman on my ward need the injections, it's because she was over 35, are you? I missed needing them by a few months!

With my first I was sent home with para/ibu but apparently at my hosp there is ibuprofen built into the surgery drugs so they don't give further doses and instead switched to the codeine to take home.

I think I was really lucky with hosp this time as I thought the staff in the surgery and then until I left home absolutely amazing beyond words! I think I was very lucky judging by what others have said xxx

Lorna198 · 07/09/2020 01:40

37 here and had to have the injections. Not the easiest thing cos I’m not a big fan of needles but by day 10 found it really simple. Just stings a bit!

@HugeAgeGap my dressing felt glued to me but when midwife took it off (day 3) I barely even felt it. Hopefully they will be gentle with you!

Sara7455 · 07/09/2020 07:25

31 and had to have the injections, but policy seems to vary by hospital. Where Wren was born they said it was just as long as you were an inpatient because of the extra time in bed compared to normal and the hospital we transferred to sent everyone who had a section home with it for 10 days. You’d think there would be a set policy, but seems there never is! Luckily since I was there so long I just had the midwives do the injection as I don’t think I could myself!
On painkillers, if you’ve had any blood pressure issues they also deny you ibuprofen. After a while it was just paracetamol for me, but by that point I didn’t really need it anyway (oramorph the first two days and codeine for about a week at the hospitals I was in - again weird how they vary so much between trusts!)

flameprincess · 07/09/2020 07:40

@HugeAgeGap no I'm 33. My BMI is in the high range though - but lower than last time I was pregnant so just think it varies by area whether you have them or not (I'm in a diff trust area this time). Not looking forward to it but I guess my tummy will be numb so hopefully I can take them there!

Terrible nights sleep last night - I need an Olympic caber tossing team to help me turn over at the moment. I wish DP would just concede and let me have the bed to myself these last few weeks he must feel like he's getting sea sick everytime I move in the night!

Lorna198 · 07/09/2020 09:46

@Sara7455 I questioned this!! I’m on 2 lots of blood pressure tablets and had weeks of trouble with it yet they gave me ibuprofen. They said it’s fine.

Sara7455 · 07/09/2020 09:52

@Lorna198 - there really is no consistency at all is there! Mine was still high despite two lots of bp meds so maybe extra cautious but they were very clear on no ibuprofen because of it in both hospitals.

ShiningStarz · 07/09/2020 11:29

Hi ladies, I can't believe we are in the second week of Sept!!!! I'm starting to feel anxious, emotional. Just can't believe I'm going to be in labour by the end of this week if not sooner. Hugs to you all 💕

Chanel05 · 07/09/2020 11:53

@ShiningStarz so exciting for you! How are you feeling about your induction in general?

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and I'm trying to walk a bit more now that I've started mat leave but it just seems impossible! My pelvis is knackered.

ShiningStarz · 07/09/2020 12:45

@Chanel05 I'm nervous!! I don't want to be in hospital without my partner especially overnight! I'm a bit odd lol!! I just hope he's allowed to be with me a lot during the day should the contractions start. I'm hoping the pessary works and waters break naturally 🙏🙏🙏 I just have to keep myself focused on the end goal!! 💛
Iv been cleaning the house today and setting the Moses basket where I want it when we come home and setting up the changing station with all the bits and pieces!!
Great you are walking, that will help, I'm waking too but very slow lol. You excited yet?!!

glasha87 · 07/09/2020 14:09

@Emmy2020, it is strange how the sickness is coming and going in waves. It’s not something I experienced when expecting DD1! It really is true what they say about every pregnancy being different. Expecting another girl too and scheduled for a c-section on the 14th! 🤞🏻 all goes well.
That’s fantastic that your two are so on board! I really thought she would be that way too, especially after the positive initial reaction. I’m hoping once she sees her she’ll be keen to interact and get involved. I think being an only child for almost 12 years might be a big factor in how she’s adjusting. Excellent that you’ll have lots of baby bonding time, hoping for same.

@Lilice, you made me laugh! Sometimes I wish I had the bed to myself so I could sigh/huff/puff/snore with abandon! I too still have the fan going, I think it’s psychological need now - I feel like I’m going to suffocate without it 😂

@flameprincess, I was up every hour last night. Torturous night’s ‘sleep’!

Even with the sleep deprivation my body doesn’t seem to want to nap so sitting on the couch online shopping - it’s nice to think that one day soon I may be able to wear fashionable things again! (When in reality I will be living in lounge wear 🙈)

@HugeAgeGap, thank you for the reassurance. I’m not too worried now at all and I’m actually very grateful to be able to take onboard everyone’s experience and the advice that they have. It definitely makes facing into it less daunting ❤️
You have a son already? How is he feeling about the new addition to the family?

@ShiningStarz, best of luck this week!

Emmy2020 · 07/09/2020 15:23

@glasha87 Yes must be strange for her as she’s an only child but I’m sure she will love it and enjoy helping you! 😀
Wow not long to go for you then!

@ShiningStarz How exciting knowing it’s going to happen this week! 😊
