Anyone who is still pregnant going for a flu jab? I have my 38 week midwife appointment today so may ask her if she thinks I should. My local pharmacy has them in now so may get one whilst I'm still eligible on NHS (apparently maternity exemption certificate doesn't cover it it's only when you're pregnant)

MooseWL · 15/09/2020 10:25

And @sianyflewog it's in progress! Baby bag is pretty much done. Just need my bits sorting now!

OrDis · 15/09/2020 10:45

Had my growth scan yesterday and all seems fine with baby so thats good, but just been back up to the hospital today for bloods as I had quite bad itching on my feet in the night so they wanted to check for OC. So now waiting for those results! I suspect it’s just the heat but better safe than sorry

NeuroMama · 15/09/2020 12:07

@MooseML I got my flu jab yesterday (38+2). My midwife had recommended trying to get it in if I could a while back so I booked the first day my local pharmacy had appointments

MooseWL · 15/09/2020 13:39

@OrDis glad the scan was okay hope your tests come back fine. How long will results take?
@neuromama I've just had it after my appointment as the midwife said fine to have it just wasn't sure it was recommended this late on but apparently safe throughout pregnancy!
@lilice what did you decide about your sweep? I was asked at my appointment today if I wanted to book one in for 40 weeks, but I declined and said if there's no reason they need to start labour I don't want one and that I may reconsider after 41 weeks if I'm still pregnant!
I was also confused as my midwife was like oh your blood pressure has risen a bit its borderline so we'll make your next appointment for a week rather than wait until 40 weeks just to monitor it.
It was 120/75 today (most other appointments it's been 120/70) so barely risen and still well within normal so really confused why she said it was borderline 🙄

OrDis · 15/09/2020 13:46

Thanks @MooseWL, they said should be back within 3 days but can come back sooner, but they’ll only let me know if theres an issue

Lilice · 15/09/2020 17:03

@ordis glad to hear your growth scan went well. I have to go for one too, as apparently now I'm measuring too big 🤯 i dont even think my bump grew that much in two weeks but im glad ill get to see my baby 🥰
I hope your results will be all clear and that the itching stops.
@MooseWL I told the midwife i didnt want the sweep and she agreed it was a bit too soon as well. But I agreed to have one next week, eeeeek! I think you did right to refuse one at 40 weeks, if there's no specific reason for it.
@LatteLover12 good luck for tomorrow 👶

NeuroMama · 15/09/2020 17:42

@MooseWL that doesn't seem particularly high for blood pressure. I had a couple of readings at about 135/75 and they said they were border line but not too concerned. They were taking the readings as soon as I got to the appointment and so yesterday I mentioned I'd just walked 1.5 miles to get there. So she took it again at the end of my appointment and it was down to 105/66!

I also got offered a 40 week sweep and declined and will reconsider at 41 weeks. I spent this morning reading about the data about the effectiveness of sweeps, and also postdate inductions. I feel like I'm gonna be overdue, especially as baby's head isn't engaged yet. The website evidence based birth is really good for anyone interested in the research behind all sorts of procedure related to pregnancy and birth.

LatteLover12 · 15/09/2020 18:28

Eek! Thanks @Lilice I'm still waiting for the hospital to call... desperate to know what time I'm going in now! 👶🏼

MooseWL · 15/09/2020 18:39

@neuromama yeah I was quite surprised she said that and she only took the reading once whilst I was chatting to her. Very strange. At my 28 week appointment it was 137/78 and they never even mentioned it.
I think mine will be a late one too, but I'm in no rush. My head isn't engaged yet either just sat on the top of the pelvis apparently.
I've read some stuff about sweeps but will take a look at that website 😊

LatteLover12 · 15/09/2020 18:51

Eeeeeek - hospital just called going in for 7am 😳

So much for being last on the list!

Emmy2020b · 15/09/2020 19:05

@LatteLover12 Good luck!

Sara7455 · 15/09/2020 19:12

@LatteLover12 good luck!!

@MooseWL that’s so odd she said that, sounds totally normal. Mines 122/80 at the moment and the doctors are taking me back Off all the meds as it’s a normal reading. It’s over 140/90 that they usually start to worry.

Lorna198 · 15/09/2020 19:19

@LatteLover12 good luck mate!

@MooseWL I’d say that was normal too!
I’m still getting treated for mine as my Dr is now involved as no treatment plan from hospital. Current average is 142/86 in last 4 days so with you being late pregnancy I’d say you have nothing to worry about!

CookieBlue · 15/09/2020 19:42

Good luck @LatteLover12! I’m still waiting for my phonecall with a time to go in tomorrow for my section. Getting so nervous now. My DD has gone to grandparents for a sleepover and even that made me emotional. Can’t believe the next time I see her she’ll be a big sister.

Hope everyone is doing well!

LatteLover12 · 15/09/2020 19:51

Thanks everyone!

Good luck @CookieBlue hope you don't have too much longer to wait!

I'm off to make sandwiches for my hospital bag 😂

OrDis · 15/09/2020 19:54

Good luck tomorrow @LatteLover12 and @CookieBlue!
