@LatteLover12 put your feet up and relaaaaax 🙂

A consultant rang me and wants me to have a sweep this afternoon when i see my midwife. Im only 38+3 and they're happy to let me go until 41 weeks (im going for a vbac). I said ok but now im thinking i dont want to. Im worried my waters will break and they'll have to induce me, which is risky because of my previous c section

LatteLover12 · 14/09/2020 11:51

Thanks ladies, I think sleep is an excellent plan, last night was not a good one!

Why are they encouraging a sweep so early @Lilice?

OrDis · 14/09/2020 11:58

Aww @LatteLover12 it sounds like you’ve done all the essentials! I say just relax and have a nice chilled 48hrs, maybe indulge in a nice takeaway or something or go somewhere you probably won’t be able too again for a while because once newborn arrives! Enjoy these last few hours 😊

Lilice · 14/09/2020 12:06

@LatteLover12 to me it's really came out of the blue. The consultant said they'd start sweeps from 39 weeks, but seeing i have an appointment today we might as well start today. This is all new to me. I think I'll tell the midwife im ok to do one but from next week when im 39 weeks. If they're happy for me to go to 41 weeks, I dont see the rush.

I was going to do some tidying up but im just lying in bed now with the fan on full blast, are you all ready for Wednesday ? How exciting 😄

LatteLover12 · 14/09/2020 12:28

I'm all ready! I have to wait for a call from my hospital tomorrow to know whether I'm going in at 7am or 10.30am on Wednesday.

All the MRSA drama means I'll probably be the last on the list 😩 but I have a sneaking suspicion that no one talks to each other and the whole superbug thing will get lost/forgotten so I'm not taking anything for granted. I'm not going to mention it if they don't!

I think you're all right and I should try and relax. I've get so well during this pregnancy that I haven't really stopped doing anything (except super long dog walks) so I've still been doing all the cooking/cleaning/laundry etc. Defo time to put my enormous feet up!

I could drive across to the coast with a coffee but I'd feel guilty not taking the pooch with me!

Lilice · 14/09/2020 14:19

Fingers crossed you wont be waiting too long on the day. Hope you manage to relax today!

ChipsAreLife · 14/09/2020 14:54

@LatteLover12 I was last on the list went into theatre at 13.30. Baby out by 14.07. It was actually quite nice as I didn't have to be there till 11.30 so I had a nap after the school run 🤣🤣🤣 but hopefully you find out soon.

LatteLover12 · 14/09/2020 15:41

That's amazing @ChipsAreLife I was thinking I wouldn't be seen till about 4pm...

Sara7455 · 14/09/2020 16:13

Gosh @ChipsAreLife that was speedy. By contrast @LatteLover12 I was Meant to be second and baby wasn’t out until 3pm!

HugeAgeGap · 14/09/2020 16:54

Hi all, anyone had any umbilical cord issues either this baby or previous? Ours came off today, but has left live tissue sticking out, like a tiny spike, and then green yuk around it. Phoned MW but no answer so have left a msg and have the 10 day check 2moro anyway. Dr Google says umbilical cord hernia for the bit sticking out and possible infection for the green. She doesn’t have temperature or looks like in pain or anything so think fine to check it out 2moro. Anyone any similar experience?!

Lilice · 14/09/2020 17:11

My son has a umbilical hernia but it resolved by itself and was told not to do anything. Dont know about the green but though. Good thing you're seeing the midwife tomorrow, otherwise i would have said to ring the gp.

HugeAgeGap · 14/09/2020 17:21

@Lilice how quickly did it heal itself up? Nothing back from MW but good timing with appt 2moro xx

Smilymami · 14/09/2020 17:37

Hi everyone.. thread is moving very fast. So occupied with little Neil. I've had the baby blues, crying and upset for nothing.. I think DH doesn't understand, he is trying to avoid me so he doesn't upset me but I don't want the avoidance, I want the attention. He's been so so helpful with our little man, I can't complain at all about that.. I just feel forgotten a little bit. I thought it was supposed to be the other way round.. mummies get busy and the daddies feel abandoned. Gosh.. I'm just an emotional wreck. Traditionally, I would have my mum or mum-in-law come and stay with me for sometime to help with baby and house chores, covid19 has meant that can't happen.
My milk production is regularising and I'm not so engorged anymore, thank Goodness.
@ShiningStarz congrats on getting home. Like others have said, fed is best. Sienna is a lovely name.

Lilice · 14/09/2020 17:37

@HugeAgeGap i cant remember but it did take a few weeks.

Chanel05 · 14/09/2020 18:16

TMI sorry ladies but has anyone suffered with piles? I am full term tomorrow and I seem to have developed them! Should I pop to the gp tomorrow?

Lilice · 14/09/2020 19:08

I do @Chanel05 🙈 i got an ointment from the gp and hoping it will shrink before i go into labour. I'd recommend getting a prescription to treat it now as it could get worse during childbirth, and if you can, get some lactulose too as it could be handy for after the birth

Lilice · 14/09/2020 19:13

Sorry you're not feeling great @Smilymami, the baby blues are not fun. I hope you feel better soon, big hugs xx

HugeAgeGap · 14/09/2020 20:04

@Chanel05 yes I have one! Never had anything like it before! Noticed while I was pregnant and after the section problems going to the toilet, it's not improved! I don't know what to do or whether it will heal itself. May ask GP at 6w check xx

LatteLover12 · 14/09/2020 20:14

That sounds hard @Smilymami have you had a chat with your DP? How long till he's back at work?

My DP has a colleague who didn't take a single day off after his wife had their baby last week, I was so cross on her behalf (it's defo not a financial thing).

Is there really no way your mum could come and stay? Is she local? I think if you need the support you should get it sooner rather than later - screw bloody covid!

Sending love, it's so hard in these early days x

ShiningStarz · 14/09/2020 21:23

Good luck @LatteLover12 it really is magical mayhem!!

@Smilymami please don't worry, I feel the same. This little person has changed the way we live and I wouldn't change it for the world. It is huge physically and emotionally. Be kind to yourself and cry whenever! I do xx

@HugeAgeGap how many weeks did it take for the clamped bit to fall off? Iv noticed hers is turning black now so it looks like may be soon but she's only day 4. MW visit again tomorrow, so thankful of the home visits, just brilliant.

Hope everyone who's had their babies are ok and hope everyone waiting is excited about meeting their new arrivals!! I'm trying to check in as much as I can, Xx

MooseWL · 14/09/2020 21:27

@chanel05 @hugeagegap me too over the last week though it does seem to be getting better on it's own now which they can do. Drink lots of water and eat fruit if you can and try not to strain! Though the GP should be able to give you something for it!

@smilymami that sounds hard, i agree with below, is there a reason you can't have family to stay is it because you're not comfortable with them being around the baby with covid? If that's the case would they be able to isolate before coming to stay? Talk to your partner and tell them how you're feeling I'm sure it's not unusual to feel like this in the early days. Or if not maybe your health visitor xx

ShiningStarz · 14/09/2020 21:35

Ps the post partum swelling is so real and I was totally unprepared. Feel like Michelin man!! When does it get better?? Apparently it's worse post c section too 😰

Chanel05 · 14/09/2020 22:47

@Lilice I'll definitely get an appointment for tomorrow then. I'm actually hoping to be overdue for a few days now!

@HugeAgeGap oh no that's annoying! I'm not even constipated or straining so I've no idea where it a come from!

@MooseWL glad that yours is getting better! I feel like we're on a deadline here!

Sara7455 · 15/09/2020 05:39

@Smilymami sending lots of love your way. Motherhood is tough. Agree with the others that if you’d feel happier with your mum staying you should do it.

@ShiningStarz my post partum swelling peaked about a week after my section and was gone by about 10 days I think. Probably different for everyone though

Emmy2020b · 15/09/2020 10:13

@Smilymami I agree too, if you are finding you need your mum then do it, it’s hard enough at the moment. Do what makes you feel better 🤗
