Don't know why but feeling very down today
The next 3 months seem to stretch ahead with no let up in these minor PG irritations and am feeling rather alone.
I was feeling very happy about the baby but now I don't know whether I've done the right thing.
I thought I had the full support of my family but just don't know whether its reasonable to rely on that. When I say family its really just my Mum as my Dad's not around and my brother and sister both live overseas. I have good friends but they have their own lives and their own kids.
Sorry to be such a wet blanket - must be the wind here driving me crazy!

morning

Good luck for later on Suey2, I'm sure it will be fine, just try and take a step back if things do go pear shape - she's already decided to leave but I guess you'd like to continue your friendship.

Bouncingturtle - I am a lightweight with vapourrub, it makes my eyes water!

Buzzybee - {hugs} having a baby can be so overwhelming at times and no doubt you're just having one of those moments. I am sure your mum will love to dote on you and the baby so it wont necessarily be a case of YOU calling on her. I found that once I had my DD some of my family who I wasn't close to before became closer and made more of an effort (e.g in 4 yrs living in Scotland noone had come to visit yet when I had the baby they've made it a regular thing since).

Monday morning so time for lots of pelvic floors!

mixedmama · 01/10/2007 08:30

Morning all,

Good luck Suey with your employee today, sure it will be fine.

So much to catch up on that I cant really remember what i was going to say.

[ennvy] of all of you going on mat leave very soon. Was holding out until Xmas for mine whicch would be 39 weeks, but think I am being a tad optimistic... good thing about temping tho, dont really need to make a decision, but am so tired ad still sicky annd not sleeping very well so will take it as it comes and may well leave earlier.

skidaddle · 01/10/2007 09:11

My goodness you've all been busy over the weekend with your messages

re: body hair - not sure if I read this or just thought it but I think if you're having a girl body hair decreases and if you're having a boy it increases? Does this make sound right to anyone who knows what they're having? I definitely noticed a decrease with dd and haven't really noticed any change this time that i'm having aboy so could be true...

Good luck suey2 with your employee

Sorry you're feeling down buzzy - it does all become a bit overwhelming at times, doesn't it? At least you have the summer stretching out in front of you

Spent the weekend sorting out wedding photos and thinking how tiny my bump looked (comparatively speaking!) Getting near to that 8 month stage + where your belly really does become quite freaky looking..

Motherof Z- have you decided whether you're going to the interview yet?

Kerioke - had to laugh at your epidual story. I was the same - screaming for one at 10cm dilated when i was about to start pushing. However my mw wisely said, yes dear we just have to wait for the anaesthetist (sp?) to arrive so as not to antagonise me!

MotherofZ · 01/10/2007 09:14

Morning all,
You have been all very busy over the weekend!! Just quickly skim read
Suey2 - hope everything goes ok for you regarding your employee/friend.
Buzzy - I was feeling really emotional last week and if someone was to ask me if I was ok, I wanted to burst into tears. Hope you feel better soon.
Hope everyone else is ok...

Wizzska · 01/10/2007 09:51

Morning everyone. (Just to remind everyone I'm Mrswizz with a new name).

All you people not sleeping - add me to your lists. Have been taking to silently weeping on public transport due to lack of sleep and stress. I'm just so uncomfortable at night I'm beginning to wonder if I'll actually sleep more when the baby arrives.

On a different note, got my old moses basket from when I was a baby this weekend from my Mum's house. Am looking forward to getting it ready. My niece hardly used it when she was a baby, and so my brother bought a new mattress for it that's hardly used but now 5 years old. Should I replace it or clean it up?

buzzybee · 01/10/2007 09:53

Thanks all. Not sure if its connected but my blood pressure is quite low (apparently normal according to my MW) and have had a couple of near fainting episodes. Nothing dangerous (not when I was driving or anything) but I thinks it just all the little things like that adding up to make me feel a bit over-whelmed.

Good luck Suey - let us know how you get on.

Also feeling at those of you going on mat leave soon.

TheLady - sympathy re facial hair. I have similar troubles. I've always thought I had PCOS but have never been diagnosed. Was actually surprised to have been able to get pregnant so easily. My hair growth has slowed down with pg even though I'm expecting a boy.

claraq · 01/10/2007 10:02

Good morning everyone.
Feeling v. guilty as have just had a go at my poor innocent (tyrant) 2 year old dd because she wants to play on the computer while I needed to check my emails. Oh God I am such a bad mother. She is happily playing with her bricks on the floor now though. Don't think I have done any long-term damage.

Skidaddle - so perhaps I am having another girl then as my hair growth has definitely slowed - I would be perfectly happy with that but think my DH is hoping for a boy this time. Whichever comes along we will be happy. However I am sure it's all nonsense - I have also heard that heartburn means a hairy baby...???!!!

Buzzybee - Please don't feel bad about feeling bad (if that makes sense). I had a bad day yesterday and had a bit of a cry about how I don't think I am going to be able to cope in the last few weeks of pregnancy (with trying to look after DD and run a household and keep everything clean and do all the shopping and everything else) as well as the first weeks of the baby. I know it will be easier for me than you as I have DH - who is very supportive - but I think it is totally natural to have these feelings of eeeek what have I done whatever your situation.

MotherofZ · 01/10/2007 10:06

Hey MrsWizz - Wizzska - why the name change?

Skid - Thanks for remembering about interview . I think I will go, but I am going to discreet about my bump - if they ask I'll tell them. I have a feeling that because of bump I won't get the job, but it gives me the satisfaction in knowing that I can make it to the interview stage and just to try my best.

Wizzska · 01/10/2007 10:15

MotherofZ, I changed my name because I didn't really like my old one, too much a wife of DH and not enough me. I'd been thinking about it for ages and then when Skidaddle changed from Mrsskidaddle I thought I would take the Mrs off too. Haven't had a row with DH or anything

Neuro · 01/10/2007 10:21

Morning...

I am shattered, can't sleep at mo. V tired this morning.

MotherofZ I've spent a lot of time in last 5 months trying to get an easy part time job and nothing (either over qualified or too experienced) for months and months and then last week AT 6 MONTHS PREGNANT someone gave me a job. I dont' think they realised i was preggers when i asked if they needed any extra staff but when i went to my interview, as it was a woman interviewing me i said straight away that i was 6 month preggers and that i'd rather not waste her time or mine having an interview if she couldn't give me a job because of pregnancy. I know legally she couldn't discriminate because of that, but she seems a nice woman and i dont' really want to make anyones' life difficult. Anyway, she rang two hours after interview and said can you start next Friday.

So i feel pretty chuffed. It's only in my local video shop, so hardly a massive career move, but means about extra £170 a month i can put away. And she said i'll have to sit down and have a cup of tea whenever i feel tired.

Oh god, i wish i could crawl under my desk right now. I almost feel sick I'm so tired,

Helllllllppppppppppppppppppp

Wizzska · 01/10/2007 10:23

Neuro, that's really great news about the job. Congratulations.

Neuro · 01/10/2007 10:27

P.s. Body hair: mine seems to have stopped. Haven't had my tache waxed for three months hurray!
But does this mean i'll become a bearded lady when sproglet is born? And i mean beareded in all senses...?!!!

WHINGE: most evenings i get the most crippling cramps in my right foot, two of toes literally change direction and no amount of massaging, cajoling, hopping about will stop it. If they didn't look so comical i'd cry.

Err what else is wrong with me? Oh yeah itchy ribs. Someone else has that on here, or could be someone on Jan thread. Anyway, it's to do with some weird thing where your body deposits salt. On the skin on top of your ribs. But i have it on tops of my breasts too. REALLY attractive. I keep thinking its stretch marks but there aren't any red marks. They would be red and visible wouldn't they? I only have a few on my hips from my teenage years so not really sure.

OK, going to find a hole now and crawl into it. The gap next to the filing cabinet is looking particularly attactive right now

Neuro · 01/10/2007 10:27

Thanks Wizzka!

Neuro · 01/10/2007 10:28

AND MY LEFT NIPPLE HURTS!!!!!!!!!

Wizzska · 01/10/2007 10:43

And my bra is too tight! Have sent off for an extender from Ebay because I want to wait a bit before buying nursing bras.

skidaddle · 01/10/2007 10:49

congrats on the job neuro!

wizzska - your new name is brill

claraq - there is some sense to the hairy -boy theory though - increased testosterone levels = more hair? But then again i am always trying to give scientific credibility to old wives tales so maybe it is just a load of old codswallop...

buzzy - I also have low blood pressure and feel faint/dizzy a lot and it does really take it out of you. Have you had your iron levels checked recently as well? Could also be a factor?

MotherofZ - best of luck with the interview and please remember that if you have good reason to suspect they haven't offered you the job because you are pg they are BREAKING THE LAW and you have every right to take it further - do it for the sisterhood (as neuro would say!)

skidaddle · 01/10/2007 10:50

this bra is great for the less-well endowed amongst you!

claireybee · 01/10/2007 10:50

i wish i had less body hair in pregnancy! Look like a blimmin gorilla! Although thats not really exclusive to being pregnant with me...

Feeling inspired by Mrs Wizz - Wizzska!!
Been wanting to change my name for a while as I know a few people who pop onto mumsnet and don't want them to figure out who I am!! Plus want to be defined a bit more than just a mother, so have chosen...Amani...which is a Middle Eastern and it mean 'optimist/positive'.
Am 'MotherofZ' by the way

Amani · 01/10/2007 10:53

lol at Neuro 'tashe'.

amani - that's lovely - is that a name as well or is it just a word IYKWIM?

claireybee · 01/10/2007 10:56

Also messed that up....note to self-the asterisks have to go around each word to bold it!
Skidaddle this is also a great bra-the most comfortable maternity/nursing bra I've found yet!

Amani · 01/10/2007 11:08

It's a name aswell, saw it under the 'World names' category in one of the Baby names books.
