Adding myself to new thread. Sorry that I continue to be crappy at posting. Wheere I hover between this thread and new year I end up typing on one and not knowing what ot put on the other.

Buzzybee - re the aches in the shoulder, lots of sympathies. I seem to be straining a muscles really easy. Tucking in the bedsheet tonight, i pushed my self up on my arm and stained chest muscle. Feel like an old lady

Insy said you guys had been asking after me after my scarey moment yesterday. Everything seems to have settled and thank you for thinking of me. xx

Ds is also recovering albeit rather slowly from his op. He is on antibiotics which will should help.

Love the idea of locations on thread, gives us an idea of who is local.

well i cocked that up.

Glad it's not just me - I usually manage the asterisk thing but it didn't like it with the list! Glad you posted on here - I was posting on New Year and here when my due date was somewhere between 29 Dec to 3 Jan, but since they agreed on 29th Dec I've just been posting on here. Knew there was another Hampshire mum and I was racking my brains to think who - was thinking it was Ambi (4 letter, begins with A - oh, well, almost right!)

Nighty night

buzzybee · 30/09/2007 03:13

Thanks Suey. Totally agree the physio has been walking on eggshells around me and keeps saying "it will take much longer than normal to come right" which is why I've persisted as long as I have with her. Pain is right under bra-strap on shoulder-blade itself. Actually quite sensitive to touch and worse when I reach out in front. MW has told me to lie on my left side if I can - but of course that aggravates it too!

Just redeemed a whole lot of my "Visa" points for a porta-cot, electric beater, cotton single duvet for DD's bed in summer and DVD of "Miss Potter" - feels like Xmas!! However also just got Visa bill for all the Australia holiday costs and added up to $2500 - ouch! (just under GBP1,000).

Daylight savings started here today. Hooray for the beginning of summer (although you wouldn't think it to look out the window) - but rather embarrassingly turned up an hour late for brunch with a friend this morning. Of course she had left the cafe by the time I arrived and I didn't realise I'd stuffed up for AGES

buzzy, sounds like a rib. Do the wedge pillow thinig i suggested to dundee for night (i don't imagne you have bloomingmarvellous in nz, but a small sofa cushion is the perfect size) and try twisting when sitting, then taking deep breaths to give it a stretch. If painful, drop back a bit- it should feel uncomfortable (ooh yes that's it) rather than painful. Swimming would be really ace for it.

loucee I was brought up in strathaven! Was actually up there last weekend visiting my parents.

suey2 · 30/09/2007 07:14

buzzy, getting on all fours and arching like a cat then a camel will also help. The things i have advised are totally safe since i haven't seen the exact problem.

suey2 · 30/09/2007 07:16

sorry for successive posts!
Did anyone see that poor woman in Hello last week who had sextuplets? They had a photo of her in bed in hospital. OMG that belly looked painful. They all survived

buzzybee · 30/09/2007 07:26

Thanks again Suey!! I actually did try using a pillow last night but found myself waking up more frequently than I would normally. I do think its a bit better today so could well be the sleeping position that's aggravating it. HMMM better to sleep well or have less pain during the day?!!

I see you're up early again today. Good idea about the email but don't leave it too long to talk to her face to face. Its very easy for people to get the wrong impression when they can't read your body language and tone of voice. I hope you managed to get a bit more sleep last night!

I'm guessing Pimlico has changed quite a bit in the last 5 years. Especially since the big Sainsbury's opened. Also the shopping centre on Victoria Rd with the big M&S. I wonder if the little vege market in the middle of the shops has survived? We loved the pizza place on Belgrave Rd - great tiramisu!

macdoodle · 30/09/2007 08:34

Bloody hell whats with the back pain...felt like barely slept a wink last night - feels like pain under both my shoulder blades/kidney area like a dull ache anda sharp stab when move ...had to get up at 3am to take some paracetamol

Bouncingturtle · 30/09/2007 09:21

Macdoodle - Poor you, know how you feel...
Incy - thanks, you are probably right, so will try to drink more, but worried that I might also becoming down with a cold too as my sinuses were really aching. Been drinking lots of OJ!
Suey2 - I second the pillow thing, I actually have a cushtie that I find helps. I think the wedge pillows can be purchased fairly cheaply from Dunelm Mill.
Buzzy - send us some virtual sunshine as we are now heading into the depths of winter! I've been madly saving nectar points to spend in argos to buy xmas and birthday presents - got both pils and dss's mum all with birthdays at beginning of November!! I've bought one pressie so far for mil, but racking brains for fil. They are both 60 this year so want to get something special for them. Luckily dss's mum is easy to buy for - I'll just get her some nice smellies, then get dss to pick something from him.

insywinsyspider · 30/09/2007 10:22

macdoodle - completely understand about the back pain, I was in that position a few nights ago but spent yesterday on my feet helping at NCT sale and then starting my xmas shopping and baby seemed to be in a much better position - I slept really well last night - must keep swimming, maining because I need to get a bit fitter for labour!

buzzy - seems so strange to hear you talk about summer! nights are getting much darker here

and aren't we spread out - got someone from each county yet??

buzzybee · 30/09/2007 10:44

Bouncingturtle, I was sure I was coming down with a cold (sore throat etc) just before I left for my holiday so I took to taking large doses of echinacea tincture (make sure you get the one with lots of the root and less of the flower) every day for about 2 weeks and I completely warded it off. Doesn't taste very pleasant but after trying varying things like putting in juice I found it best just to take it straight like rather awful cough mixture then have something straight after like a peppermint. I did a bit of research on the web first and there has been quite a bit of research in Germany (where its particularly popular) that demonstrates no ill effect on PG women and babies. As you can probably tell I'm a convert!!

Roll on summer - at the moment its still cold and windy. But must say I am looking forward to having a baby and time off through our best time of year. Makes the fact that she's due Xmas day almost seem not quite so bad.

Bouncingturtle · 30/09/2007 13:14

Thanks for the tip, buzzy, will look out for that!

claraq · 30/09/2007 14:42

Caz10 - wierd that you mentioned about the hair on your legs and underarms not growing as much as usual because I have noticed the same thing and was a little confused as thought hair (on head at least) was meant to grow MORE during pregnancy.
Perhaps it's natures way of helping us to cope with the problem of shaving our legs and "bits" when we have a massive tummy....

MamaMaiasaura · 30/09/2007 15:09

is slow hair growth sign of a girl and lots of hair sign on boy?

hi housemum. Weather is miserable down here atm.

Bouncingturtle · 30/09/2007 15:37

I've noticed the same thing with my legs, that I don't need to shave them as often, plus shedding a lot less hair from my head - apparently it'll all fall out after baby!
Awen - depends on who you ask!

thelady · 30/09/2007 18:41

The slow hair growth thing definitely isn't happening for me. Have lots of facial hair (sorry TMI) due to suspected PCOS (though they've never actually diagnosed it) and that is much much much worse .

Sorry to hear about all the aches and pains. Mine is mostly hands and wrists: gripping anything really hurts when I wake up, and carrying anything heavy is becoming tricky. Sore back/tummy due to coughing again - am really really fed up with this cold!

On the good news front: the local barter economy is alive and well. We have 8 beautiful trout from the husband of one of our barmaids: caught yesterday. Payment is in home-made bread and chocolate fudge cake . I think this time we might return some of the fish as our special fishcakes too....

Loucee · 30/09/2007 20:06

Suey2 small world! Are your relatives still in Strathaven?

macdoodle · 30/09/2007 20:10

ooh the hands yup that too...terrible carpal tunnel syndrome wake up in the night with painful dead hands which after a shake start to tingle and throb...luvely...gosh I sound like a real moanbag but actaully physically don't feel that bad much better than first but working much less hours with this one....
Busy day ordered pram (silver cross 3d in coast sort of sand and turquoise quite pleased with it...MIL insisted had to be delivered to her house as she said it is bad luck to have pram in house...I poo pooed and she got really sad and said only time she had new pram was when she lost her baby...she lost a middle boy to cot death at 3 months and very very rarely talks about him sad moment but felt quite close to her)....
Also ordered this am hoping will be good for aches now and for breast feed after - not into rockers...get sea sick

Loucee · 30/09/2007 20:12

Sorry Suey2 just re-read that you were visiting your parents!

If anyone is getting headaches try 4head, it's a rub you put on your temples and neck and it's just lovely and soothing.

I've been getting more backache recently and not due to see physio until a wk tomorrow so in the meantime have been finding a warm hot water bottle is just heaven to take to bed to put on my back.

theLady - how lovely that basic trade has not died out! THink that's such a lovely exchange. Are you the baker or is that down to DH?

macdoodle · 30/09/2007 20:14

Also had H up in loft and got ALL baby stuff down as have been shoving stuff up there since DD now 6 was baby tons of stuff - unfortunately some eaten by mice and [yuk]....so have piles to sort through...luckily moses basket and bedding double bagged in box so ok but car seats chewed to oblivion ...
Alos found wedding dress not eaten

Bouncingturtle · 01/10/2007 07:14

Macdoodle - that chair looks very comfy! Sorry to hear about your ravsnous mice!
Loucee - I find vapour rub works just as well as 4head and is substantially cheaper... it was recommend to me by a pharmacist.
Thelady - poor you with that cold, hope you are better too.

I think my worse moment is getting out of bed to go to the loo I can barely walk! ONce I'm up and about it gets easier. Spent yesterday doing loads of housework and ironing and that was really harsh on my back.

suey2 · 01/10/2007 07:51

macdoodle that chair looks ace! I am with you on the rocking thing- and I don't really want to train LO to fall asleep in my arms, then wake up in the middle of the night screaming because i am not there!
Not looking forward to meeting with employee today- wish me luck! (fingers crossed emoticon)
