Another one for the Scottish section!

Glad everyone is doing ok and v of those of you starting maternity leave soon! Got my letter through today, I get 3 mths full pay which is great, but the start date is 2nd Dec, not so great!

suey2 another question for you, sorry, bet you wish you'd said you were a window cleaner ha ha! I have a very uncomfortable pain in my butt cheek (sorry!!), wouldn't even say it's lower back, even further down than that. Sore when I walk (hobble at the mo) but ok when sitting down. I'm hoping I've just somehow pulled a muscle or something? (but looking at my bum it certainly doesn't seem muscly ha ha!).

I am getting the opposite kind of unwanted bump comment, mainly related to how tiny mine is, with the unsaid suggestion always being that I am clearly unhealthy in some sort of eating disorder way! (couldn't be further from the truth, I eat like a horse).

I was only 8.5 stone to start with (I'm a short arse too) and have only put on a stone, MW says baby size is fine but it's still a worry. Just have to keep thinking that as long as I know I am eating enough and healthily then I can't do anything else.

Got a bid in on ebay for a sling, can't stop manically checking it even though the auction doesn't close for a few days yet!

Do people have definite name choices yet? We are really struggling!!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 29/09/2007 14:10

Is anyone else suddenly really tired? I felt fine up until recently and nw have spells in the day when im SHATTERED - im coming up to 28 weeks.

Im wondering if my iron levels are getting low - might start on the spatone.

Hi everyone

Just added myself to the list.
Hope you are all well.

I'm getting a bit excited now. Bought our new pushchair this week, a
Jane Twin Two
I'm also going to get the few bits that we do need soon as I've only got 8 weeks left. Could be less if little sir is still breech too!

Pecka, I've been mega tired too. Come lunchtime it just hits me and all I want to do is shut my eyes.
I rememeber being like this with ds last year too.

Its this breathlessness thats still getting me though. I hate it!
I have found one way of relieving it, and thats to lay on my side. It seems to get baby moving out of position.
Sadly with 2 other children you just cant pop upstairs for lay down
those of you having your first babys

Ambi · 29/09/2007 14:46

Hurrah, now have wheels, pick up car on Friday - so relieved, was expecting Mat leave to be stranded at home. I've def grown up too, from my baby (MX-5, I loved my sports car, we sold her just after BFP to now a very sensible normal Nissan Almera) Ok so it's not the height of fashion but it's big enough for me and baby and should last us forever. I'm just grateful to have a car tbh.

I don't usually feel very big bumpwise, especially in the morning, then get dressed and downstairs and DH says "wow, you're big today" [hmmm] I think I can disguise the bump by sucking in - not that I want to, but I guess I expected to be loads bigger with only 2 months to go. Weird body change I'm not happy with though, dark nips! what's all that about? I liked my small pink nips now they're massive and brown. Plus since I'm on the tmi front now, I really thought that I'd be more bothered about the ladygarden, but now I can't see it, don't really care as much (in my head it's primped and preened within an inch of it's life!)

Caz10 · 29/09/2007 15:00

Ambi I'm with you on the "maintenance issues" ! Attempted a "tidy up" this morning, but can't really reach/see it, so goodness knows how it looks...

...too much of a wuss to wax too...

...bizarrely though, in the past few months of being pg the hair on my legs and underarms has pretty much stopped growing, what's that all about?!

Congrats on the new car, I have just recently passed test so am stealing dh's at every possible opportunity! Waiting till I go back to work to get my own wee run around.

Ambi · 29/09/2007 15:16

congrats on the test caz, it'll be great zipping out and about with baba

claireybee · 29/09/2007 15:32

Caz10-are you me?!? So many of your posts say exactly what i was about to! And i also live in the south west...hmmm

Caz10 · 29/09/2007 15:33

Cheers, thanks, yes I've been putting it off for years, but nothing like a growing bump to give you a deadline for something! Will feel much happier knowing I can get to clinic or wherever in an emergency if necessary, and out and about in what will prob be manky weather over maternity leave!

Caz10 · 29/09/2007 15:37

Hee hee clairybee, I wish I was you, cos then I would be some years younger than I am ha ha! (just had a birthday so touchy subject ho ho). Oh and would also have your beautiful wee girly, she is so gorgeous. DH and I both very boringly Scottish/Irish, so poor LO is destined to be luminously white skinned prob with freckles and ginger hair. God I feel sorry for him/her already!!

claireybee · 29/09/2007 16:11

Lol, well i'm with you on the small bump, pain in bum cheek (is yours sciatica?), and frantically checking slings on ebay! Hope we arent bidding against each other! Just realised i read it wrong though, i am in SW England, not Scotland

suey2 · 29/09/2007 16:13

caz10 it sounds like your sacroiliac joint. Be very careful not to leg cross and if it is sore in bed, pop a pillow between your knees. When walking try to squeeze your butt and wear shoes with lots of shock absorbancy. Slightly shorten your normal step length and minimise the sound of your heel hitting the pavement. If you can cross your foot over the opposite knee when sitting, then bend forward from the hip (ie not slouching- lead with the bump) you will be able to stretch the piriformis muscle which often goes into spasm whien the SIJ becomes hypermobile in PG. Heat can be very soothing. let me know how it goes!

Re employee- thnks for all your support. I have decided to see if she can't stay until may, to actually ask her to go mid jan. Then i can advertise and appoint before i give birth and have a 2 week handover before she leaves. The real diffculty for me is that since the business was only set up 3 years ago, it has only in the last year been profitable. Her work was going to pay me any mat pay i could glean from the business- it really wouldn't be so much of an issue if i had a little more financial leeway. Can't ask DH- huge mortgage and the amount he has spent on all the baby stuff has almost wiped him out. (he would insist on a bugaboo...)

'stinking' cold

cazzybabs · 29/09/2007 17:10

Today I cycled to the post office as I have had to order some work maternity clothes - it is about 3 and a bit miles. Got 3/4 of the way there when I found I had a very flat tire. HAd to walk the rest of the way there and back again...am now quite tired!!!!! Blooming bike! Still at least dh has taken the dds swimming, but all my plans for housework have gone by the wayside!

Housemum · 29/09/2007 17:18

Good afternoon! Nothing to say really, just adding myself to the thread so I don't have to remember to look it up.

Tiredness creeps up on me every now and then - yesterday I was fine, today we went shopping in Southampton and I slept on the way back. Now feel like sitting and vegging on the sofa all night - hmm, think I will actually!

cazzybabs · 29/09/2007 17:30

Housemum - that is what I do - I am so glad I am not the only one!

Cressida1979 · 29/09/2007 17:46

Hello, adding myself to the new thread...

Caz10 and Ambi: I attempted to sort out my lady bits this morning as well and nearly did myself an injury! My friend has recommended a 'painless' hot wax in my gym's beauty salon which I think I'm going to have to try as I swim quite alot and don't want to scare people!

Suey2: what is it with blokes and high tec baby stuff?! I was completely happy with basic equipment and hand-me-downs but he is banging on about Bugaboos and Stokke cots... Sorry to hear about your work stress btw.

insywinsyspider · 29/09/2007 18:49

hello,

loucee - thanks for back ache tips, couldn't remember if I should sleep on my left or right hand side, will try more right tonight, was tossing and turning last night and need to get my gym ball down from the loft - almost persuaded by the P&T sport then? we have a buzz for ds, still got at mo, must put it on ebay...

and everyone trying to trim 'down there' I tried the same yesterday before swimming, nightmare, couldn't see a thing and wasn't coordinated to shave in front of mirror, it prob looks dreadful, oh well at least I can't see it! dh offered to do it but then he gets ideas and I'm just too tired for that, how boring!
ds at granny and grandads tonight, looking forward to a lie in tomorrow

Bouncingturtle · 29/09/2007 19:16

Yes I am also in the feeling very tired and worn club. Plus having difficulty with my back and hips - I can't walk very far or stand for too long because my lower back really hurts. I know i ought to go swimming bu frankly can't seem to find the time.
Plus been having little niggly headaches as well which is a bit annoying.

dundeemarmalade · 29/09/2007 19:28

evening everybody. am so pleased i bought a laptop cos i can play on mumsnet when i've decided to go to bed at 6 o'clock. some days the knackeredness is overwhelming. have no idea how people cope with kids and being pregnant. have to not think about it cos it's too scary.
thanks for advice re. bump pillows etc for rib pain. am soooooooo looking forward to being able to be comfy again.

Caz10, where abouts in South West are you? I'm actually close to East Kilbride but put Glasgow to be on the map!

Insy, yes am really tempted but just looking at 2nd hand prices/ebay at the moment and would love to sell the Quinny first to help pay for it!

Buzzy - thanks for starting the new thread

Dundee, laptops are ace aren't they! I often don't admit to it when I'm still in bed and posting! Lately I've had to have a few pillows round me in bed, one night DH even went to the spare room as not enough room for him AND the pillows!
