@APD1981 good luck to you! I would second not wearing yourself out trying to get baby going. I was put "on the clock" too after my waters went and went mad trying to ramp things up by being active and ended up exhausting myself (because it's difficult sleeping in those circumstances like you say!). Make sure you get some rest between activities to preserve some energy Smile really good luck x

Rinoa · 05/06/2020 09:46

@APD1981 nice one how long did u walk for? I feel I need to time my exercise and walks otherwise I feel like I'm not doing anything lol hope you manage to rest up and baby comes soon !

@Ginfilledcats thanks for the feedback! I guess I shouldn't really worry about the pain of a sweep knowing that labour pains will be imminent 😂

Pegase · 05/06/2020 09:47

@UKtoSK I definitely get more out of one side - one side much more tricky. Even when I expressed properly with DD when milk fully in, one side always produced about a third more than the other - fortunately they didn't look lopsided GrinGrin

Missgemini · 05/06/2020 09:50

@apd1981 good luck for today. Wishing you all the best!x

Reading this group is so so exciting! There's daily news now :)

MissisBee · 05/06/2020 09:50

Congratulations @SerBrienneOfHouseTarth that was speedy!! Hope you managed some rest overnight.

Good luck @APD1981 hope things progress well for you today.

@Mj2196 best of luck with the section. Baby certainly made up their mind for you!!

Last antenatal appointment for me today before section next week.

I read somewhere the other day (can't remember where), that sweeps have about 1/8 chance of success. Don't know if that's official data or not. I can imagine how uncomfortable it would be - basically they're putting a whole finger where the tip of a smear brush usually goes!

APD1981 · 05/06/2020 09:57

@Rinoa I did 3 walks of about 20-25 mins each. Most I've done for ages but just had an urge to do it. I also made DH help me give the house a quick clean at 8pm last night. I'd been keeping on top of it but felt like it needed a quick spruce up. Must've been a nesting instinct. I also bounced on my ball a few times for 30 mins at a time. I lost my plug yesterday morning so felt things could be close. Oh, and I got a syringe of colostrum too. No idea what, if any of those things helped, but I still can't believe this is actually happening now x

Zoey92 · 05/06/2020 10:11

@SerBrienneOfHouseTarth congratulations, im having my sweep at 38+4 but being my first baby one can only dream it works that quick 😂🤞

Takes me forever to get up now in mornings as I'm so achey from sleeping on my side

AmyMaria2 · 05/06/2020 11:02

@APD1981 definitely try and get some rest in as well. I was induced after a night of no sleep & I definitely think I could of coped better if I'd of had a few hours!
Good luck can't wait to hear your bubbas arrived xx

AnonyHB · 05/06/2020 11:14

Thanks for the new thread!

Kez437 · 05/06/2020 11:35

Congratulations @SerBrienneOfHouseTarth I hope you get some rest and enjoy all your baby snuggles!

@Magpiefeather thank you for the reassurance. I had heard something along those lines so spending today pottering around cleaning, baking with my stepson and watching a movie and generally trying to get the oxytocin going.

To anyone else who had sweeps did you have a lot of discharge after? Sorry for TMI but I lost my mucus plug on Tuesday afternoon after my first sweep and then had a second sweep on Tuesday night and I'm still getting a lot of discharge. No blood though. I've honestly never been this confused about my own body!🥺🤔

Millettmum · 05/06/2020 11:42

@Kez437
I have a lot of discharge anyway. Is it clear?

LillianFullStop · 05/06/2020 11:51

Wow congratulations @SerBrienneOfHouseTarth !!! I'm so glad for your positive birth story with your baby boy - so quick and barely a tear! Enjoy those precious cuddles

Wow @APD1981 hope all goes well!

Thanks @AmyMaria2 - we had our first night at home yesterday it feels amazing being out of hospital and having him in his little cot now 💙

Ginfilledcats · 05/06/2020 12:13

@kez437 not much discharge, a bit of stringy bloody discharge but only lasted a few hours. But my cervix was closed so that may be why? Just call your midwife and ask maybe? Put your mind at ease?

Kez437 · 05/06/2020 12:57

Thanks @Ginfilledcats and @Millettmum it's like yellow and stringy 🤢 I expected some after the sweeps but given that I already lost my mucus plug and it's now 3 days since the last sweep I sort of thought it would be done with by now but it seems to be there every time I go to the bathroom. Going to give it another couple of hours and keep and eye and then I think I will ring, just for some reassurance

newbyxx · 05/06/2020 13:48

Checking in, congratulations @umabb!
Good luck to all you that are due in the coming days/ weeks it's sooo worth it! My little one is 8 days old now and is thriving! Loving being a FTM.
In regards to a few of you who have been having A hard bump for long periods of time in the day leading up to my birth my bump was constantly hard with no let up so could be a sign something is happening.

Here's my bundle of joy 🥰 so glad the weather is cooler now, heat and a newborn isn't great combo!

I am so bored and uncomfortable!! Arrived for my appt at 12.15 to be told that the consultant had been called in to surgery so I could pop off for a while get some lunch and they would call me when they were ready for me..... I've sat outside and had a toastie, been for a walk, found a parsons and got milkshake and cake and am now sat on a wall outside the hospital still waiting!! Wanted to sit in my car but some numpty has sat in theirs with the engine running and filled the whole place with fumes!! 😩😩 I think it could be a while before I see this consultant and theb my appt will be really rushed and short 😢

Busylizzie85 · 05/06/2020 14:00

He's so gorgeous @newbyxx 😍

OP posts:
Missgemini · 05/06/2020 14:15

@newbyxx he is beautiful. Looks so peaceful too. Enjoy the cuddles. I'm very jealous! Haha

@apd1981 I hope things are going well today. Crossing everything for you.

I had my sweep at noon (40+3). I didn't love it, but I found that taking deep breaths and relaxing helped a lot. Those that have been doing hypnobirthing will probably cope much better than I did.
Anyway, she said cervix was soft and effaced. I'm between 1 to 2cm. Baby is 3/5 engaged. She was very positive and said she could've broken my waters if she wanted.
So far, some discharge, but nothing too major. I'm booked in for sweep number 2 on Tuesday just in case.

40+3

Missgemini · 05/06/2020 14:16

@BabyBird20 so sorry. That's really annoying when you're just waiting around. Good luck for the appt x

Magpie21 · 05/06/2020 14:34

@newbyxx awwww your baby is precious! And that muslin is so adorable 😍

@BabyBird20 hope your wait isn't much longer!

Millettmum · 05/06/2020 14:43

@newbyxx
Beautiful! I think I those muslins packed ready to go to hospital with x

Gigitree · 05/06/2020 14:52

Awww @newbyxx just so gorgeous ❤️

Oh @BabyBird20 I’m sorry to hear you’ve had such a long wait! Hope you get seen soon 🤞🏻

sarahlounich · 05/06/2020 15:17

Aww @newbyxx so so cute!

Ended up having my second sweep this afternoon rather than tomorrow. She said I'd progressed since Wednesday so although I've not felt much going on,it has been which is good to know. Really hopeful this works now as she said progress was good for first baby. If not I've got an outpatient induction booked for Wednesday morning eeeekk!

Hope you got your appointment and it was rushed @babybird20

Gigitree · 05/06/2020 15:28

Sorry if this is TMI, it just wondering if anyone else has experienced this/knows what it is.
When I feel baby move at the moment I get this sort of scratching feeling really low down, almost to where I guess my cervix is?
Is this just because baby is low down do we think? Anyone else had similar?

Busylizzie85 · 05/06/2020 15:30

@Gigitree I have noticed that on and off these last few days I think it's were there heads are engaging more! 😊
