Thanks @Busylizzie85 glad to know It’s not just me! Exciting that it might mean her head is engaging - although I know this means nothing in terms of when she will arrive!

BirdGarden · 05/06/2020 15:47

@gigitree - oh god yes!!! I almost feel like I need to scratch it, makes me so a little hip wiggle 🙈 feels like it's happening when baby is having a good stretch so guess it's just additional cervix pressure.

I managed to smash my phone this morning. Last time I did that I gave birth 13 days later. Going on that prediction baby will come on the 18th, but due date is tomorrow. I wonder who's right!

BabyBird20 · 05/06/2020 15:55

Finally seen the loveliest consultant, totally made up for the horrible time I had last time! I'm now on the induction list and could be called in any time over the weekend 😱😱😱 Suddenly feels terrifyingly real!! Now in the Dau for monitoring as baby's blood flow is low so they want to check heart rate etc! Can't believe he could be here by Monday!!

MissisBee · 05/06/2020 16:06

I'm glad you had a positive appointment @BabyBird20. Hope the monitoring is all ok. Exciting that your baby will be here soon!

Busylizzie85 · 05/06/2020 16:11

That's good news @BabyBird20 fingers crossed he will be here soon!

@BirdGarden haha I know what you mean! I tend to wince when it happens and my DH thinks things are kicking off! 😂

That would be incredible if baby came on the 18th!

@BabyBird20 so glad to hear you had a better appointment! How exciting that baby will be here so soon ♥️

AmyMaria2 · 05/06/2020 18:16

@BabyBird20 that's great news, You could have your bubba here for next week🥰 good luck Hun xx

umabb · 05/06/2020 19:31

@BabyBird20 best of luck xx
Struggling to put him to the snuzpod/bassinet. He can stay like this up to 15mins only 😭

AmyMaria2 · 05/06/2020 20:05

@umabb Ace wouldn't go down in his crib for first couple of weeks, it was a nightmare he'd only sleep on one of us! It will get better. Try swaddling tight so he feels as if he's still being held xxx

BabyBird20 · 05/06/2020 20:13

Thanks ladies!! Can't quite believe it still, I'm on the list for Sunday so glad I have tomorrow at least to get myself ready! She did an internal and thankfully my cervix is favourable, she touched babies head and had the bloody show so things are starting to ramp up which I'm hoping means the induction won't be too long!! Lots of happy things to do tomorrow and maybe it'll kick off sooner!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

HaichMal · 05/06/2020 20:48

@umabb I'll second that the first few weeks with my toddler were mostly spent with him on one of us, although I did manage a slightly longer stretch at night. Swaddling tight is good advice.

@BabyBird20 so glad the appointment was much better than the last and that you've had good news too!

I'm back in hospital for reduced movements. It hasn't ended up as quick a visit as last time as there was a big dip that they weren't sure about but I had an hour of good monitoring after that so it seems fine. Have to wait to see the Dr who's in surgery at the mo. Have still been having my BH/contractions while here, some with long gaps some with regular gaps but all pretty strong. The midwife said the Dr might want to examine me and perhaps give me a sweep, but they'll decide when they review my case.

Zoey92 · 05/06/2020 22:35

Very uncomfortable tonight ladies.
Really struggling to walk about & the daggers are getting pretty damn painfull the last 3/4 gave stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away😂

APD1981 · 05/06/2020 23:34

Well, today took a turn in a different direction. I should be just arriving at hospital now for my induction... here's what happened...

I managed an hour's sleep about 11am as the contractions stopped. At 12.30pm I bent over and felt a very, very painful contraction. They kept coming, very painfully. At 1pm I took paracetamol. At around 2pm I had a load of red blood. Phoned triage. All of a sudden contractions were 3 mins apart and pain like I'd never known. Got to triage at 3pm. I was 7cm dilated. No time for pain relief. Whisked off to the MLU and my beautiful baby Frederick James (Freddie) was born at 4.48pm weighing 8lb3.5oz. I didn't even have time to ring my mum to tell her I was at the hospital! I've had a small tear and I'm quite sore as it was all so fast but he's here and he's beyond perfect. He latched on straight away and has fed several times, mostly slept with cute little snores, and done a poo before we could even get a nappy on him!

I'm in my own room with an ensuite. They've brought hubby a mattress and bed linen for the night. Going home tomorrow after his checks.

My top tip... TENS machines are amazing, especially if no pain relief due to a very fast labour.

I will post photos when I can. For some reason the app and website on my phone won't post photos!

Best of luck to everyone who's meeting their baby soon. It was the hardest 4 hours of my life, but I got the best prize ever x

Zoey92 · 05/06/2020 23:49

Gigitree · 06/06/2020 05:06

Wow congratulations @APD1981 after that slow and steady build you ended with a sprint finish! ♥️♥️

LillianFullStop · 06/06/2020 06:12

Magpiefeather · 06/06/2020 06:44

Wow @APD1981!!! What an amazing birth story. Rest up and enjoy the newborn cuddles! Glad feeding is going well. Hope your tear heals soon, keep up to the painkillers for a few weeks.

APD1981 · 06/06/2020 06:53

Thank you everyone. Seems that Freddie is a content little thing at the moment. Not really heard him cry properly since he came out. I expect that'll change as he's just very sleepy now.

As for the room thing, I'm very lucky that it's standard at my hospital. They had a rebuild of the maternity building a few years ago and they only have 1 open bay ward for C section mums to be monitored for a while but then they, along with everyone else, gets their own ensuite room. As DH isn't allowed to leave they even provide him with a mattress and bed linen rather than just a chair. Not normal outside of Covid times. There's a tea and coffee making station (free) and they will also feed him breakfast but all other food be has to buy. I'm hoping we'll be home by lunchtime though!

UKtoSK · 06/06/2020 07:17

@APD1981 wow congratulations! All that slow build up wasn’t for nothing!

37 weeks today, finally (early) term and the waiting officially begins.... appointment today showed baby is still head down and a repeat NST came back normal this week, however, my ECG last week came back borderline abnormal so we repeated today and it was still borderline so now I have to go get that checked at another hospital this coming week. Hopefully nothing, but still another thing to worry about! At least baby is healthy.
