@josiejo1990
Someone explained it like a pain and ache in the right ovary. Not like the braxton hicks or ligament pain I've had before. All stopped now so led to nothing.

Zoey92 · 21/06/2020 11:19

Happy due date to me others who's due today 😊
No signs yet...wishful thinking

NakeliP · 21/06/2020 12:04

Thanks @josiejo1990 and @BirdGarden. I've had the gel, about an hour ago. Nothing much doing at the moment so can quite envisage being in for the long haul and probably the drip.

BabyBird20 · 21/06/2020 12:17

Good luck @NakeliP , I had the epidural and it was a godsend!! They started the drip first on a very low setting as they weren't in such a rush but within an hour I had asked for the epidural!! They have to give it if you ask so don't take no for an answer!! It's the best thing I did as slept for a couple of hours straight after to get some energy back!

josiejo1990 · 21/06/2020 12:18

@Millettmum its defo in that area...I've had it a few times over the last 2 weeks, twice I had 3 of these pains 15 mins apart but they always stop. they do seem to build up and fade away as well which is what made me think Braxtons but I've no idea Confused

Magpiefeather · 21/06/2020 12:32

Happy due date @Zoey92! I think it’s me, you and @Magpie21 today.

A few twinges today for me, period type cramps. Not reading much into it as I’ve had loads of them over last few weeks! However I can’t help hoping maybe it will turn into more?? so I’ve been on a long walk and bounced on the ball a lot. May scrub the floors this afternoon!

Zoey92 · 21/06/2020 12:46

@magpiefeather ive been for a walk this morning too, ive hooverd and cleaned floors every other day as i havent had cravings the smell of disinfectant has been my obsession 😂
I was on my ball for hours yesterday, had a really spicy chinese lastnight but i like spice anyways so i swear I'm immune 🙄

peetieswie · 21/06/2020 12:57

Still nothing here. A few cramps but that is it. Time seems to be crawling by now. 40+2

mrssunshinexxx · 21/06/2020 13:26

@peetieswie same here 40+1 few cramping pains but very low Down?

Really hope she comes before I need induction

Magpie21 · 21/06/2020 14:13

@magpiefeather @zoey92 Happy Due date! So surreal that the date is actually here. I felt a bit of a shift after a walk yesterday back to feeling completely normal today! I'm not holding my breath for an arrival this week ☺️ We'll see! My strategy is to go for a long walk every day. Hospital appointment is on Wednesday. When are your appointments this week?

@NakieliP Hope you induction goes well today I'm glad you brought up the subject/idea of having an epidural beforehand because I hadn't considered that and I wouldn't be surprised if I end up having an induction down the line. Helpful to know these things!

Zoey92 · 21/06/2020 14:30

@magpie21 i always feel a shift after a walk i given up hope.
Im at midwife on tuesday, i keep thinking i hope i'm not 😂 i know she'll be suprised to see me, when i last seen her 2weeks ago she really thought she wouldnt be seeing me this week 🙄
I cant believe we're finally here either, just seems like yesterday i was always complaining about my nausea 😂

Pegase · 21/06/2020 15:47

@MsMiaWallace my tips for C section recovery would be to take all the painkillers when in hospital. They offer you everything when you've had a C section - not just paracetamol rubbish - so say yes every time as you will know about it otherwise.

The bad side is that the combination of abdominal surgery, opioid painkillers and iron tablets is murder for the digestive system or it was for mine. I'm on day 6 and things still not quite normal. Sorry TMI but I have needed a lot of wind remedies, lactulose and fibre!

I only stayed in hospital just over 24 hours -
Argued to be sent home given the whole enhanced recovery thing and how rubbish it is not having partners there. The first day at home was really really tough but actually since then it has definitely been getting incrementally better each day.

DH has been helping a lot though - absolutely could not be managing without him running around a lot to keep the show on the road so we are having to manage his tiredness as much as mine.

Smiffette · 21/06/2020 17:03

I've been slightly absent this last week adjusting to life with our baby girl, Tallulah who turned 1 week old yesterday! I just don't know where that time has gone.

Lovely to see so many more babies arriving!

This who have new babies have you struggled with getting little ones to settle in their cribs/Moses baskets?

Tallulah will only sleep on me at night and won't settle in her Moses basket... even if we try and trick her and put the sleeping nest that she happily sleeps in on the sofa in the day, in there. She knows and won't sleep. Any tips that have worked for you or is it just time adjusting to life outside of Mummy!?

AmyMaria2 · 21/06/2020 17:21

Congratulations @Smiffette! I had this problem with Ace, just keep persevering, from 2 weeks he would settle in there for a an hour or 2 at a time, and it's got better and better since then!
Me and my partner were taking turns staying awake holding baby for first few weeks, good luck Hun xx

Smiffette · 21/06/2020 17:25

@AmyMaria2 thank you!

Ok that'd good to know there's light at the end of the tunnel!

HaichMal · 21/06/2020 17:39

Congratulations to everyone who's had babies recently!

I hope everyone's recoveries are going well as well.

Good luck to those with sweeps, inductions, c-sections today and over the next few days. Sorry I'm not on much at the moment. I keep reading posts but not really commenting. I am thinking of you all.

@Smiffette yes, little Charlotte does this. She sleeps wonderfully in the carry cot of the pram during the day, most of the time anyway. Every now and then she wakes and wants to sleep on you but generally she's pretty good during the day. At night I'm struggling to get her to settle or sleep for long in her crib. I've had many nights with lots of holding her between feeds, or with only short periods of rest of say 30 minutes before she's awake again - sometimes for milk but sometimes just for cuddles. Last night I didn't even try and put her in her cot, and instead co-slept with her next to me with my arm around her as she slept on her back snuggled against my side. I thought this was better than ending up drifting off with her in my arms as I sat up, which has happened twice after long hours awake in the middle of the night. It worked, however, and she did 2 hours and 3 hours during the night, though of course I still felt shattered this morning. She also wakes regularly for hiccups and the occasional bit of wind, especially in the night, and of course, there are cluster feeds which for mine seem to mean they don't settle well until their done and will have short rest breaks in your arms.

It is normal though that they want to be with us so much, especially at the beginning. My toddler was similar but it settled down after a few weeks and he was happier sleeping in the carry cot and crib.

BabyBird20 · 21/06/2020 17:57

@Smiffette I came on here to pretty much ask the same question!! I'm exhausted from being basically permanently awake! Last night I got Benji down in his crib for the first time since the magical midwives managed to do it in hospital but then I stayed awake the whole 2 hours he was in there listening out for his breathing!! 😩😩

So, can anyone recommend a good monitor they have used to put your minds at rest re breathing? E.g the angel care with the mat that they lay on? Or the snuza hero? I need something that'll help me relax enough to sleep when I'm not holding/next to him!!

Rinoa · 21/06/2020 18:04

We have a baby monitor called the Nanit. It's pricey but definitely keeps our mind at ease it tracks breathing also lets you see their sleep pattern.

peetieswie · 21/06/2020 19:05

We bought a second hand owlet on Facebook market place. Obv haven't used it yet but knew I'll be paranoid about breathing as was with my niece when she visited so I'm glad I've got it. I've also got the angel care monitor but have heard the motion sensor isn't that great and doesn't work with next2me which is what we have

MissisBee · 21/06/2020 19:51

We've been swaddling E at night, which seems to help her settle well. We have a gro-snug, which has the option of arms in to swaddle, or arms out, like a sleeping bag. I've just ordered a second one, as she's occasionally been sick on it, or had a nappy leak, and it's a bit of a stress getting it washed and dried for bedtime!

I also think she has shares in a nappy factory, the amount we've gone through the last few days 😂

Magpie21 · 21/06/2020 22:51

@zoey92 Hopefully this will be our week! x

@Rinoa I was thinking of investing in a Nanit as I heard they are brilliant. Do you have to put a belt on the baby to monitor their breathing?

LittleMrsMama · 22/06/2020 00:40

Congratulations with all the lovely babies who have been born recently or will so very soon!
Just wondered whether anyone has experienced pushy family and friends with visits and holding the baby. Mine hasn't arrived yet but already getting questions and have said I'll 'wait and see how I feel once the baby is here'

Just wondered if anyone is happy to share their experience or advice? I know a few people expecting to be invited over as soon as the baby is home and would expect a cuddle!

UKtoSK · 22/06/2020 04:26

Had my first sign of mucous plug today. A very very small amount but it’s nice to know something is happening, even if it’ll still take a while. Just a little morale boost!

@LittleMrsMama I don’t have any advice as I’m worrying about the same thing myself. There has been a sudden increase in corona cases in our city this last week after none for weeks and weeks so if they continue rising I’m concerned about having in laws over to meet her after she’s born. My MIL works selling beauty products and goes around meeting lots of people (no lockdown here) and my FIL is a very social man...

mrssunshinexxx · 22/06/2020 06:56

@LittleMrsMama we are having the first 2 weeks to ourselves to get to know her and learn how to be parents with no other distractions.
After this remaining parents can visit in garden socially distancing but no one will be holding her until 8 weeks when she's had her jabs this is my hospital's guidelines and we are happy to follow them.
If my mum was alive still I wouldn't be this strict I would be itching to see her hold her but she's not so this is the way it's going to be x

chocolate26 · 22/06/2020 08:17

@LittleMrsMama I have really struggled with the whole visitors and people holding her situation! I have a huge family and everyone is eager to meet her which is lovely but I'm not ready in myself or with the way of the world to let everyone meet her yet. We have let my parents who havent been to work or socialising with anyone else meet and hold her and they have done a few times already and we have let my sister who is also pregnant so socially distancing herself already. My grandparents (I have 6) and my aunts and uncles and cousins and friends are all asking when they can meet her and I'm feeling so bad holding it off but she's only a week old today and I'm not ready yet.
