Google 'baby sleep temperature' and select images. It'll give you what to put baby in. Looks like you're about right with the baby grow, sleepsuit and muslin to me.

Ivy is one of our baby names, although starting to worry it's very popular now! I've literally not told anyone my names so that's a big secret.

AmyMaria2 · 17/06/2020 00:50

Congratulations on all the new babies🥰🥰🥰 Ace is doing well 💙

UKtoSK · 17/06/2020 02:38

Congratulations on all the new babies! Love all the photos, they’re so cute 😍

@Blizy that’s good news about your girl, and I love her name - our little girl is going to be called Rose too!

AmyMaria2 · 17/06/2020 07:20

Thank you @Blizy so is Rose🥰❤️

Gigitree · 17/06/2020 09:03

Awww baby Ace is so cute @AmyMaria2

How is everyone doing today? Anyone else still in the slow build up of labour?

Been having contractions through the night, every 15mins or so, but with a couple of gaps of about 1.5hrs so I could catch some sleep!
Fingers crossed the momentum continues 🤞🏻🤞🏻

39 weeks today!

AnonyHB · 17/06/2020 09:20

No signs for me yet! Currently 39+4. Had section booked for tomorrow based on predictions baby was going to be a whopper by 40 weeks but scans last week and this week showed growth nowhere near as has been predicted weeks ago so I’ve cancelled section for tomorrow and giving baby another week or so to make a natural appearance. Hopefully getting another section date for next week when I’ll be nearly 41 weeks as baby still on 90th so don’t want to go over 41 weeks and don’t want to be induced, so it they’ve not made their own appearance by next week they’re going to need extracting 🤣 so jealous seeing all of these gorgeous baby announcements! Hope all mummies and babies are doing well ❤️

mrssunshinexxx · 17/06/2020 09:36

@AnonyHB I'm 39+4 today and having my second sweep hoping things have changed in there since last weeks sweep

Can I ask how you came to decision of section over induction I'm really struggling to make this Choice for 41 weeks if I haven't gone naturally before then the consultant will be ringing me any day now to confirm

I have been thinking about saying I'll have the peccesary and if body reacts to that then great but I don't want to go on the drip if it doesn't react to peccesary then straight to section but I don't know if they will allow this

Magpiefeather · 17/06/2020 09:42

I’ve come to the conclusion that my contractions were just strong Braxton Hicks. If so they are way more intense than anything I had in my first pregnancy . Still choosing to believe they are doing something to get my uterus warmed up or something!!

Felt a bit sicky and dizzy yesterday, just sort of odd, and sometimes the tummy cramps are near constant.

Had sex last night with lots of nipple play in the hope it would start something (I mean it was also just quite fun and nice to have some nice sex before I’m too sore and knackered again!) but..... nada. So baby must just not be quite ready yet!

Oh well! Will see if midwife will give me a sweep on Friday at my 40 week appointment.

Hi lovely ladies 😇 hope it's okay to jump on this thread! I'm due Saturday 20th... and like a few been having really strong (and sometimes painful!) Braxton Hicks, but its been weeks now and no sign, this final month has been so hard! How is everyone coping and is anyone trying any remedies to get labour going?! I keep getting stuck between "she'll come when she's ready, I dont want to rush her" and "AHHHH GET THIS BABY OUT NOWWWWWW" Grin Blush

LittleLlamaMay · 17/06/2020 10:44

Oh congratulations @chocolate26 she's beautiful 😊❤

NakeliP · 17/06/2020 10:54

40 weeks today. Had a few messages already, like it's a birthday or something! It's funny how people really see that date as a line in the sand. When's it coming again? They ask. Oh the 17th, ok then. I keep replying that I feel fine, baby is very comfy and hopefully it'll make an appearance in the next fortnight. Who knows? I actually don't mind getting messages - it's nice people care. I've only had one specifically asking "Any news?" Mainly it's "How are you feeling?" Or "thinking of you" and parents don't pester thankfully. Be interesting to see if messages now ramp up or if people get bored of it!

Midwife appointment this afternoon. I don't think my area offers sweeps for low risk pregnancies before 41 weeks, but as low risk I don't want one anyway. TMI but from when I think I conceived I don't think it's due until at least the 22nd. I'm hoping to be like those who've spontaneously gone into labour with no/very few signs in advance, otherwise I really am in for the long haul!

Rinoa · 17/06/2020 12:21

@Busylizzie85 how do u use the think blanket? Do you wrap them ? I thought they aren't supposed to sleep with blankets ?

Busylizzie85 · 17/06/2020 13:07

@Rinoa sorry I meant thin blanket like a Muslin type thing! The midwifes did not say you couldn't and she spent the whole time in hospital sleeping with blankets. The one thing they mention was to make sure the blanket was at nipple line so it does not go over her face and that her feet are at the end of the crib/Moses basket etc and on her back only I have found best it tuck it down the sides of the crib so she's slightly restricted.
I honestly feel like a complete idiot when it comes to knowing what to do with this small human most days 🙈

Hi @mrssunshinexxx it’s just personal preference I guess but a few things for me:

  1. Fairly high rate of failed inductions (you can check national stats and sometimes local stats on this). Failed inductions lead to unplanned/emergency sections in around a 3rd of cases around here.
  1. Inductions typically mean 3 days in hospital. I wouldn’t want this anyway tbh but certainly not on current Covid circumstances when we can get partners with us,
  1. Inductions generally lead to more painful contractions and crucially for me there is a higher rate of instrumental deliveries compared with spontaneous labour.
  1. My baby is on the 90th (was previously 97th).

It’s not an easy decision though and definitely worth looking at the stats and different sources of evidence to make your decision :)

mrssunshinexxx · 17/06/2020 14:54

It's really
Stressful @AnonyHB x

Babymaher · 17/06/2020 17:28

Well the stretch and sweep yesterday worked had cramping pains from 7pm went to bed and at 1am woke to the most horrendous back pain and abdo pain felt like I was busting for a wee could not get comfortable timed the contractions and it said I was in established labour although waters hadn’t broken. Hubby said to try sleep some more but they were that intense I couldn’t, called the MLU they said being a first time mum I wouldn’t be in established labour but I could go for a check to see if it would make me feel more comfortable arrived at the MLU around 3:15 and was 4cm dilated. Husband allowed with me straight away and by 06:56 I gave birth to a beautiful health 9lb8oz baby boy in the pool with only gas and air. Just waiting the all clear to go home from hospital tonight as I had a small post partum haemorrage. Good luck to all the mummies still waiting you’ve got this

Rinoa · 17/06/2020 17:41

@Busylizzie85 ah ok sounds sensible using the muslin like that, I'm really just trying to learn as I go myself!

Anyone else's baby move around a lot during bf? Mine always puts his hands in front of his face and moves a lot! Makes it hard to get him to stay still while feeding

Magpie21 · 17/06/2020 17:42

@Babymaher Congratulations! I hope you are feeling OK today, what an eventful 24 hours, bet it's surreal to get your head around! Lovely news.

@Busylizzie85 Don't be too hard on yourself! I'm a FTM (to be), so I have a lot to learn when my baby arrives...I have a sterilizer that I don't know how to operate and many other things that I am planning to learn on the job! My friend had a baby in May and is also a FTM, she told me that it's surprising how quickly your confidence grows as the days go by.

I have had an uneventful day pregnancy wise! I saw that the weather is going to be 27/29 degrees in my city next week!! Better stock up on ice lolly's!

Busylizzie85 · 17/06/2020 17:58

Congratulations @Babymaher what a good result of a sweep!

Thanks @Magpie21 it's like a rollercoaster of emotions this mum thing and a very steep learning curve x

Congratulations @Babymaher ! That may be one of the first stories I've heard of it working. I have a stretch and sweep scheduled for Saturday but been backing and forthing on it, but this gives me hope so think I'm just going to go for it 😊

Gigitree · 17/06/2020 18:38

Wow @Babymaher what an incredible birth story! Congratulations 🥳♥️♥️

Magpiefeather · 17/06/2020 18:40

Ah what brilliant news @Babymaher! Congratulations and well done! Hope you are recovering ok and enjoying your lovely baby.

@littlellamamay I had one with my last pregnancy that did the trick (well it was my second sweep but for the first my cervix wasn’t ready). I do rate them if your body is almost there anyway!

SearchingTheSkies · 17/06/2020 19:32

@Babymaher fantastic news - congratulations!!! Hope your recovery goes well 😊
