Hooray @BirdGarden! Hope your recovery is going well so far!

Busylizzie85 · 15/06/2020 19:59

Congratulations @BirdGarden

Baby and I have finally been given the all clear to go home tomorrow! It's been a traumatic up and down experience at the hospital all alone but it's been worth it for little miss. Just need to get the hang of feeding properly then we will be well away 😊

Congratulations @BirdGarden

Missgemini · 16/06/2020 00:36

Congratulations @BirdGarden I hope you're enjoying the cuddles!

After my long wait for a place on labour ward, I finally had my waters broken in the middle of last night. Contractions started, but they wanted things to move quicker. There started my syntocinon drip. Like my friend warned me, the contractions that followed were beyond intense. Neither TENS nor gas and air were cutting it. I then begged for an epidural, which came pretty quickly. The epidural was a God send! I was actually able to sleep with it for a few hours whilst contractions were happening in the background. Made good progress and dilated well. Then came the time for pushing. Absolute nightmare. The pressure I felt in my bum was just unbearable. Long story short, the doctors had to help with an episiotomy and use of the kiwi method.
My baby was born on the evening of the 15th of June. All of that pain was so worth it! We cannot believe how beautiful he is!
He loves colostrum and settles really well with it. So so blessed to be in this position.
Thank you ladies for all your help on this group. You don't know how much comfort I found here xxx

BabyBird20 · 16/06/2020 02:31

Oh god ladies, anyone awake? I'm back in hosp after having a full panic attack and feeling really ill earlier. Fever of 38.9 and obviously then immediately start talking covid. Baby and I in a private room in the 'covid end' of the delivery building!! The doctor has managed to calm me a bit saying it's less likely covid and more likely a womb infection but still very scary

BabyBird20 · 16/06/2020 02:31

Sorry posted before I finished. Now hooked up to antibiotics ivs etc and hoping my temp reduces over night, have never been so hot!!

UKtoSK · 16/06/2020 03:24

@BabyBird20 so sorry to hear that! That must be so scary, I’m glad you’re being looked after and I hope you feel better quickly! X

Babymaher · 16/06/2020 07:39

Congratulations on your arrival @Missgemini, never heard of the kiwi method sounds like an experience tho. @BabyBird20 oh dear sorry to hear you’ve had to go back into hospital I hope the antibiotics are working. I slept awful have a midwife appointment today going to go for the stretch and sweep as I just want this baby out now. Fed up of the daily messages and I just feel massive and fed up ☹️

Magpiefeather · 16/06/2020 08:30

Congratulations @Missgemini, hope you are recovering ok. It sounds like you really went through the ringer, well done for getting through it, the good thing is you have baby earth side now! Hope you can rest lots.

Oh @BabyBird20 so sorry to hear that, whether it’s covid or womb infection, you are in the right place and I’m sure they will have you up and at em in no time. Try and relax and enjoy the opportunity to rest as much a possible. You’ve got this!

My early labour signs all tailed off. Had a few cramps last night too at about the same time as the day before, but again faded away to nothing. I might have weeks of this!!! I think I’m going to ask for a sweep at next appointment too @babymaher, if only to see whether there’s any dilation happening yet! Every day I look at the date and think: will this be your birthday little one? I hope so!

39+2

Babymaher · 16/06/2020 08:39

@Magpiefeather oh no that’s frustrating! I’m still getting on off cramps, backache with loads of mucus but only if I’ve been out on a walk or exercised. Really hoping she says I’m dilated otherwise I’m going to feel really deflated 🤞🏻

Magpie21 · 16/06/2020 09:31

Congratulations @Missgemini It's good they didn't wait around on the epidural! How did you find getting the epidural? I imagine you would have been in so much pain anyway it seemed like no big deal.

@BabyBird20 oh dear sorry to hear that you are poorly. You are in the right place. I hope the antibiotics is doing the trick x

No labour signs from my camp. Just a bit of pressure on my cervix every now and again. Every time I wake up in the middle of the night (for one of my million toilet trips!) I hope my water will have broken or I'll have a show. All in good time!

Missgemini · 16/06/2020 09:52

@BabyBird20 I hope the antibiotics settle things for you. Must be very scary.

@Magpie21 I was having contractions as they were putting in the epidural, so I barely noticed the epidural going in. The cramps I was having at the time were like 100/10, so I was desperate for the epidural to go in. The epidural is absolutely amazing for contraction pains, but does not help with the pressure you feel in the pelvis when pushing. But I 100% recommend the epidural for anyone wondering.

Gigitree · 16/06/2020 09:57

Congratulations @missgemini 🥳♥️

Oh so sorry to hear that @BabyBird20 but like the others have said at least you’re in the right place and I’m sure they will have you feeling better in no time!

@Magpiefeather and @Babymaher
I’m still getting my mucus plug coming out pretty much every time I go to the loo, there’s either clear discharge or mucus with sometimes streaks of pinky/red. I feel like I’m on my period in terms of aches/cramps and about once every hour or so I get this tightening which I think is a contraction.

But then it’s just been consistently like that for about 36 hours now, it’s not progressing into anything yet! I don’t have another midwife appointment booked because I have my growth scan & consultant appointment on Friday, so if baby isn’t here by then I don’t know if they consultant or a midwife at the hospital will give me a sweep.

Sounds like us wt 38/39 weeks ate having very slow build ups.
My sweep started a little something last Thursday i was already 2cm but it has not progressed into anything.
Im so deflated, even my MW thought she'd see me in the birthing centre by Sunday by how favourable my cervix was.
I just keep getting mucus, alot of lightening crotch & very heavy pressure.
I think little miss will hold on till fathers day and make her grand appearance

peetieswie · 16/06/2020 10:42

No labour signs here yet. Just a bit of pressure down now and then. Doubt anything will happen before sweep on my due date on Friday. Feeling impatient but keep trying to remember I'm not even at due date yet. It's just weird how so many people seem to think baby will come on due date - people messaging 'how many days now?' or 'how long now?' 🤔 I don't bloody know!!

Gigitree · 16/06/2020 10:42

Yeah you’re right there @zoey92 and I don’t mind a slow build up if that means the next stage goes quickly 😂
I keep trying to remind myself that she isn’t actually due for another week so I need to just go with it and stop being so impatient!

UKtoSK · 16/06/2020 11:37

@peetieswie the “when is baby coming?” “how long left?” questions are so annoying.... I WISH I knew the exact day!

38+2 and no signs yet

Magpie21 · 16/06/2020 11:50

@Missgemini good to know regarding the epidural! I'll see how things go and how I cope but I can put money on going down the epidural route! 😬 I'll work myself up and see. I've had so few signs of labour that I preparing myself for a 41+ 5 week induction!

@Gigitree How are you finding it sleeping in the past couple of days when you get your period like
Pains?

@zoey92 I think we have the same due date. Father's Day! Did you get offered a sweep for a particular reason? I don't get one until my 40 week appointment next week.

@peetieswie I'm in the same boat as you! No signs and lots of people checking up on me :-) I just tell them I don't expect the baby will arrive 'on time'...

Babymaher · 16/06/2020 11:52

@Gigitree I’m with you on the slow build up of it mean quick labour 😂 today is dragging it feels like ages till my midwife appointment at 15:50. I’m interested to find out what the next steps are as I’m now 40+4 it will be my first sweep today as they wouldn’t do one before 40 weeks wondering if I will be offered further sweeps this week if the first one doesn’t work or if they will just book me for induction. I was set against induction but now I just want to meet my little one so I don’t care anymore how it happens. @UKtoSK if you get to and go past your due date those questions get even worse and everyday by multiple people I’ve started to ignore messages and calls now so they have started to call my mum and even she’s getting annoyed by it 😂

mrssunshinexxx · 16/06/2020 12:04

Where I am you can have upto 3 a week @Babymaher

Babymaher · 16/06/2020 12:26

@mrssunshinexxx oh interesting thank you maybe I might get more this week then if the first doesn’t work later today.

Busylizzie85 · 16/06/2020 12:34

Just a note for those thinking about epidurals they are amazing when they work but bare in mind they don't always and in my case the contraction pain was so so intense and in just the odd area where the anaesthetic did not run to!
Some of my issues were probably down to the swelling caused by pregnancy my left leg was numb but right I could still move and feel slight sensation!
My best advice would be to know the side affects before opting for it, for the most or works wonderfully and I probably very unlucky!

We are still in hospital but holding to get the all clear to leave this afternoon/evening 😊

I can't stop staring at her face even when she's cluster feeding all night and I don't sleep!!

@Busylizzie85 awwww, your daughter is so precious. Makes me a bit emotional, knowing I will also meet my girl in the next couple of weeks! Congratulations!

Congratulations @Missgemini !! Wishing you a speedy recovery 😊

@BabyBird20 How are you feeling?

Those of you experiencing slow build ups, hopefully it means your bodies will be 100% ready for labour and make the next stage easier.
