@smiffette this video about contractions might explain what you're experiencing a bit better

goldenT · 13/06/2020 19:23

Congratulations to those of you who had your little ones in the last few days, I also had my little boy on Thursday arriving 8 days early

HaichMal · 13/06/2020 19:25

@Smiffette I generally felt all my contractions lower down this time around (think I was similar with my toddler but can't remember exactly). I also thought I was in established labour and was only 3cm. I definitely knew about it when they went to established labour, even though I had thought they were regular and strong enough before that.

BirdGarden · 13/06/2020 19:49

Congratulations @goldent!

@smiffette with DD I never felt a damn thing above the knicker line in 18 hours. When I mentioned this to my mum later on she said she was exactly the same. Maybe it's just how some of us are built?

Missgemini · 13/06/2020 19:57

@goldenT congratulations! Such an exciting time :)

LillianFullStop · 13/06/2020 20:13

APD1981 · 14/06/2020 01:34

@goldenT congratulations!x

Gigitree · 14/06/2020 05:10

Morning all,
Question for the experienced ones among us.
Last night when I woke up for one of my wee breaks, I felt a trickle of liquid. Embarrassingly because I needed a wee so bad I assumed perhaps I’d wet myself a bit so changed my pants and went back to sleep.
Then again waking up this morning I felt a trickle of liquid, but again I needed a wee, so is it just the pressure of baby’s head against my full bladder? It doesn’t really look or smell like wee. But it’s just a small trickle.
I’m not having any contractions/cramps.
Not sure if I should ring triage or not?

HaichMal · 14/06/2020 05:32

@goldenT congratulations!

@gigitree I'd ring your midwife just in case. I think I've heard of people losing a bit of fluid or even perhaps waters slowly but I'm not sure. If it doesn't look or smell like wee, I'd definitely ask, even if just for reassurance.

Smiffette · 14/06/2020 05:33

Thank you all for your responses re contractions!

It definitely was and baby girl arrived safely in the water late last night! We are totally in love and so happy I managed the water birth.

I was 7 cm by the time I got to hospital, MW said I did really well to get that far!

Just under 4 hours from arriving at hospital she was a born, all fine few grazes but no tears thankfully. All checks were good and we were able to go home 4 and a half hours after she was born.

Gigitree · 14/06/2020 05:35

Thank you @HaichMal ♥️

Ahhh amazing @Smiffette congratulations! Sounds like you did amazing staying at home until 7cm!!

HaichMal · 14/06/2020 05:40

@Smiffette congratulations and amazing work! I'm glad it all worked out well

Pegase · 14/06/2020 06:48

Congratulations@Smiffette - sounds like a great experience!

@Gigitree I am having the same. Definitely not urine as clear and odourless (and definitely not coming from my urethra!) I was thinking it was just excess discharge though.

Had it on and off yesterday and have been wondering whether or not to call.

Missgemini · 14/06/2020 06:48

@Smiffette congratulations! Great work! Enjoy the cuddles :)

I have finally made it to induction day! Will keep you ladies updated :)

41+5

Gigitree · 14/06/2020 07:27

@Pegase I’ve not called them yet as I’ve not had anymore ‘trickles’ I’ve put a pad on just to see if anything else happens. When I went to the loo just now and wiped there was a lot of clear discharge. So it could just be that like you say.

@missgemini oooo good luck!

mrssunshinexxx · 14/06/2020 07:54

@Smiffette well done ! That literally sounds like the dream birth !

Busylizzie85 · 14/06/2020 08:06

Finally my baby girl Ivy arrived at 19:51 last night weighing 8 pound 22oz by emergency forceps in the end as she was being a pickle!! We are doing well but will be in hospital until tomorrow at least as we both have a couple of issues that need some investigation!

Ahh huge congrats @Busylizzie85 she is gorgeous! Hope you both recover quickly xx

SearchingTheSkies · 14/06/2020 08:19

Congratulations @Busylizzie85 and @Smiffette ! Hope you both recover well and enjoy getting to know your little ones.

Good luck today @Missgemini ! Do you have a specific time to go in or are you waiting for a call?

@Gigitree @Pegase I've had very watery discharge but have never actually felt a 'trickle' so hard to say. I'm sure my mw said that if I stood up after lying on my side for about half an hour and felt liquid coming out, it was possible it could be waters slowly going. I always just felt suddenly very damp though. It might be worth a call just in case.

newbyxx · 14/06/2020 08:21

Congratulations @Busylizzie85 @Smiffette ❤️

Anyone with there babies already experiencing difficult nights? my little Freddie is 17 days old now and has been only waking twice a night for Feeds, I recently up' his feeds to 3oz (formula) and he was going every 2-3 hours. However the last couple of nights he's been waking every hour and appearing hungry. Last night I was up pretty much all night with him and he was just unsettled and crying a lot. I don't want to over feed him by giving in to the every hour, but is it a case of does it he need it? Can formula fed babies cluster feed? One very tired mama today!

Gigitree · 14/06/2020 08:24

Ahh @Busylizzie85 congratulations she’s gorgeous! Hope you both are better soon and can go home ♥️ Xxx

Gigitree · 14/06/2020 08:26

Thanks @SearchingTheSkies that is what it felt like, that after laying down when i sat up i felt a trickle. It’s hard to know though isn’t it when you’re desperate for a wee and groggy in the middle of the night!

Just going to keep an eye on things today and call later if it happens again.

Missgemini · 14/06/2020 08:56

@SearchingTheSkies They booked me in for 9am. I'm here now. Bit weird to be a patient in hospital. Waiting for the midwife to see me now.
