@BirdGarden I have been swabbed but you can opt out results are around 18 hours time! It was very unpleasant but quick.

Ugh been awake a bit in the night with very mild period type pains and lower backache. Really hoping this is not a sign of impending labour as C section not until Wednesday. Wondering at what point it is best to let MAU know.

39+0 today.

Cornishbumpkin · 13/06/2020 07:57

@Pegase hopefully it's not the start of things, I would give MAU a ring if they become regular or if they're becoming more painful

BirdGarden · 13/06/2020 08:37

Thank you @rinoa and @Busylizzie85. DD seems a bit better this morning. Think I will still call for advice. If it's basically a one day turn round then I don't want to be handled as a potential covid case in birth just because she has a teething fever or something. Only supposed to go to local MLU in theory...

Had awful cramps yesterday, sometimes in waves. Didn't come to anything. Probably just as well really!

chocolate26 · 13/06/2020 09:42

Going in to be induced today at 12! Very excited but also very nervous 😬

Gigitree · 13/06/2020 09:57

Eeek good luck @chocolate26

babyt2020 · 13/06/2020 10:03

Hi ladies, has anyone had an outpatient induction? I had the 24 hour pessary at 1.30pm yesterday and nothings happening!! Back today for waters breaking hopefully 🤞🤞starting to feel really disheartened, pregnancy is going to end exactly as I didn't want it to 😢

Missgemini · 13/06/2020 10:37

@chocolate26 good luck

@babyt2020 my induction is tomorrow, but with a cooks balloon. I think they put it in in the morning and I'll go home and come back in the night.
Some of the inductions are taking such a long time. Quite disheartening. Wishing you all the best for today x

Congrats to everyone who has had their baby and good luck to those with inductions or sections in the coming days!

I’m due to have w section on Thursday based on fundal height measurements plotting baby above 97th for the last 9 weeks, confirmed with three consecutive growth scans. My last nhs scan was at 36+5 and I wanted an up to date estimate so went private this week for w growth scan. At this scan baby plotted way below 97th and is about average for everything. Estimated weight at 40 weeks based on private growth scan is maximum 7lbs 7, which is 2lbs less than NHS were predicting as the maximum.

I’m not sure what to do now. Should I continue with section or cancel and hope this latest scan is accurate, baby is smaller than expected and so the concerns about the large size and my ability to labour naturally (I’m very very petite - 5ft and weighed around 7 stone before pregnancy) are no longer an issue as baby is smaller? I text midwife yesterday asking whether electives can be delayed, so give the baby a few more days to make w natural appearance, but she hasn’t responded (think she was on delivery suite yesterday so may not be checking her community work phone).

Added potential complication for me is that I don’t want to be induced at all so the plan was always that I would have elective booked for 40+6 to avoid being induced at 41 weeks which is the policy around here. I’m also not prepared to consent to instrumental delivery. So part of me thinks just stick to section but then the other part thinks I’m not giving my body a chance to have a natural vaginal birth they may go very smoothly! Any thoughts ladies?

Smiffette · 13/06/2020 11:22

@AnonyHB from friends experiences recently the nhs scan estimated weights are very inaccurate! One who now has a 4 week old was told she was having a very big baby, had to reduce her diet the last weeks or pregnancy and ended up having a perfectly healthy 5lb 7oz baby...
I've also read lots saying that bigger babies are actually easier to birth and that your body grows a baby perfect for your body.
Personally I would try and go for a vaginal delivery, if your in hospital you're in the right place if things becoming challenging and you can get the support you need.

Busylizzie85 · 13/06/2020 11:25

I've been in labour now after gel pessary for 22 hours I'm so tired and only 5cm! I have opted for epidural as the pain was so intense .

Pegase · 13/06/2020 11:56

Yeah my induction took days with my DD!

@AnonyHB that isn't that big really. My DD was 7lb15 and pushing her out was not a problem. I'm 5'6 but my MIL naturally birthed a 10 pounder and she is petite and about 5 ft!

MsMiaWallace · 13/06/2020 12:07

@Busylizzie85
Your baby will be here soon!!

Well my baby is still very breech after scan yesterday. I'm now booked in for C section a week on Monday (22/06) at exactly 39 weeks.
Very excited & anxious!!

Magpie21 · 13/06/2020 13:00

@Busylizzie85 It won't be much longer! I think I would definitely go for the epidural after that length of time. Sending you best wishes for an appearance in the next couple of hours xx

HaichMal · 13/06/2020 13:03

@AnonyHB I had an NHS growth scan on Monday which said 8lb12 and she was born the day after at 8lb12. I have also heard of those told such and such weight and baby being completely different. I'm about 5ft5 and on the slightly larger size but I've delivered a 9lb10 with 36cm head and my LG at 8lb12 with no problems. I would say to go with your gut/instincts.

mrssunshinexxx · 13/06/2020 13:08

@AnonyHB personally I would go for natural or try to over section or induction any day

peetieswie · 13/06/2020 13:22

Feel like I'm living the timings of a newborn with no baby. Getting about three hours a night, and napping in the day. Feel all over the place and a bit confused most of the time. No signs of labour just bump feeling very very heavy and achey so struggling to walk as far as I was before.

After appointment last week, Midwife tried to refer me to hospital for a scan due to size of bump but hospital refused. A consultant did phone me and started the call by saying 'this seems to be a big fuss over nothing.' Not sure who he even thought was making a fuss?? Arrogant arse. Anyway they moved my sweep forward to next Friday which will be my due date but said everything else seems fine. Just a long sleepless waiting game now.

BirdGarden · 13/06/2020 13:24

@busylizzie85 sorry you're having such a long one. I hope the epidural works for you X

@anonyhb like others have said I would give it a go; because scans can be so wrong. I have a friend whose scan was almost 5lbs wrong! I do understand your concerns though, my measurements aren't quite as extreme as yours but I had a growth scan at 36 weeks due to a small bump, baby measured 2 weeks ahead on some things, like length. My husband's family all have big (like 9.6-10.6lbs) boys. I am a bit bigger than you but not much. And I'm currently a week past my due date with no sign of anything changing. So I'm hoping my scan was generous too! 🙈

mrssunshinexxx · 13/06/2020 14:12

I will be getting a phone call on Monday from consultant to decide whether I want a planned section or induction at 41 weeks I am completely clueless as to what to choose I just want her to come naturally before then so badly

Smiffette · 13/06/2020 14:58

I've been getting discomfort in my lower abdomen and back regularly for the last couple of hours.... I don't think it's BH because they are apparently irregular (not that I've experienced them)
But I though labour contractions were at the top of you tummy, so contracting the baby down and out?!

Has anyone else had these lower abdomen regular pains that turned out to be labour?

Hot water bottle soothes it and I'm just running a bath to see if that helps

Magpiefeather · 13/06/2020 15:44

@Smiffette sounds like it could be contractions to me! The first contractions are not working downwards, they are actually drawing upwards to thin out and dilate your cervix. Then during transition (when fully dilated) that’s when your contractions switch to pushing down to get baby out. From what I understand! Maybe start timing them?

Smiffette · 13/06/2020 16:19

@Magpiefeather ah I see! Ok I think I do remember reading that!
I've rung triage as they've been coming regularly every 4 mins for the last hour that I've been timing them... she said sounds like early stages but to carry on at home and call back in a few hours if they get more intense or if waters go

peetieswie · 13/06/2020 16:19

@mrssunshinexx It's totally up to you. If you would like a natural birth then remember you don't have to agree to either. A baby coming after 41 weeks isn't overdue as they can come from 39-42 weeks or even further along. I'm going to refuse an induction at 41 weeks if offered one. Consultant said 'we'll offer you one but you don't have to accept' when he said about it and kinda implied there isn't a good reason to accept at that point.

AnonyHB · 13/06/2020 16:40

Thanks for all your replies, much appreciated! 7lbs something is absolutely fine, it was the NHS estimates of 9lbs 7 as a minimum that resulted in the section being booked. I’m going to try and get another nhs growth scan this week as the one I had last week was private so nhs aren’t interested in what that says. Think it would be useful to have an nhs one as if that predicts smaller I can then discuss with consultant and see about pushing section back a week by which point I’ll be almost 41 weeks and if no baby by then I’m happy to go for section!

Zoey92 · 13/06/2020 16:43

@Smiffette same here mine are not that close but definitely lower back pain, pressure & aching. Had a minor show this morning too 🤞 hopefully you're on your way though as you're ahead of me and probably had enough😂
