@Rinoa I pumped within the first week. Not sure why they would tell you not to as long as you are doing it in addition to feeds?

peetieswie · 11/06/2020 07:18

Congratulations on your baby!!

Anyone being affected by the new lockdown measures? My mum is buzzing as she lives alone (dad died 2012) so means she'll be able to come over and snuggle baby now! I so happy for her but also a bit worried ill never get rid of her!

Cornishbumpkin · 11/06/2020 07:38

Congratulations @Chels2 hopefully you'll be home soon Smile

APD1981 · 11/06/2020 07:41

@chels2 many congratulations. Sorry you had a rubbish induction but it's all over with now you have your boy x

@peetieswie yes,me! Dad died last year so mum is on her own. Absolutely made up she can come here and be a proper Grandma x

Pegase · 11/06/2020 07:45

Missgemini · 11/06/2020 08:26

@Chels2 congratulations! Sorry it wasn't the best experience, but you have your baby now. Lots of cuddles for you :)

@Blizy good luck for this morning. Crossing everything for you x

Gigitree · 11/06/2020 08:35

@Chels2 congratulations! Sorry to hear that About your induction Experience, but glad to hear that you had a lot of good support! ♥️ Xx

Congratulations @Chels2; sorry you had a rough ride of it X

Good luck @Blizy

40+5 and woken up to sod all signs as usual 😂

Gigitree · 11/06/2020 08:38

Re: the change in lockdown measures for single households, we did think initially this would be great as it would mean my mother in law who lives alone would be able to meet & cuddle baby. But then I noticed they said this doesn’t apply to those who are shielding. So I assume this means those who are considered extremely vulnerable? She has diabetes, is over 75 and just finished chemo for ovarian cancer earlier this year, so I’m assuming this change won’t apply to her, and if we’ve just come home from the hospital I presume we’re more of a risk to her than vice versa.

Busylizzie85 · 11/06/2020 08:57

Congratulations @Chels2

@Blizy good luck today

@AndddddHerewegoagain thank you. That's very reassuring here too to hear

@Rinoa my nipples are a little sore and it's more painful now when she latches on. I think her latch is generally ok and it was checked before we left and should hopefully be checked again when the midwife comes next, though I might give our infant feeding team a ring so I'm on their radar. As as has been said previously, any breastmilk or colostrum they get is brilliant, we are in recovery after all. milk should generally come in from 3 days and while cluster feeding happens, it can start to get easier as less work is involved for them to get anything from the breast. Also, stomachs are tiny, so little and often is the way to go and a lot of their feeding is to boost supply and encourage your milk to come in - from what I remember. Oh, and pumping is fine but I think, like a bottle top-up it's recommended after little one has been away the breast.

We gave her an oz last night as I was sore and very, very tired and she settled for a bit and then there was a very restless few hours where she was restless and fussy at the breast but didn't necessarily take the bottle for another oz either and I think it turned out to be some wind? She's had a good sleep since so I'm hoping my nipples have had time to recover a bit.

@APD1981 so glad things are going well. Our little girl slept next to me last night but she managed 3 hours like that so I'm going to go with it for now and I think I remember my little boy being very similar but he did go into the next to me at night after a short while.

@Blizy Good Luck!!

@Chels2 Congratulations! What a cute name 💙

chocolate26 · 11/06/2020 11:39

@Chels2 congratulations! It sounds like you had a tough time with your induction but it must be lovely to finally have your baby boy to cuddle 😊 hope you are feeling well. I'm going in for my induction on Saturday so I'm feeling a bit nervous about it now, I know it's going to be a long process but it's just the unknown.

@Blizy good luck today! Thinking of you 😊

SearchingTheSkies · 11/06/2020 11:44

@Chels2 Congratulations!!! Hope your recovery goes well and you get home soon. Love the name x

@Blizy Good luck for today!

Pegase · 11/06/2020 12:30

Just a quick question - for those who have had a C section (planned or not) how are you finding the recovery? Have you found going up and down stairs at home manageable? Our bathroom is upstairs so I will need to be able to get up and down!!

Busylizzie85 · 11/06/2020 12:45

I'm in the same boat @chocolate26 I'm booked in tomorrow so if you have questions I could answer them a day ahead as I don't know fully what to expect!
The unknown is scary I'm just trying to concentrate on the end result.

@APD1981 aw I’m so glad you had a good day we’ve just had our check & little man has lost 5% they seem happy enough with that . Still waiting for the tongue tie team to call 😔. We’re at the cracked bleeding nipple stage but my milk is pouring out so have expressed 2oz for bedtime tonight to give them a break hopefully !.
I’m feeling pretty useless trying to keep as mobile as possible though . How are you feeling ? And how are you feeling about your birth

@Pegase I won’t lie it’s been tricky but no where near as bad as I thought it would be . I’m on day 5 now and my bruising has only just come up but I’m able to walk around better now and shower alone As long as I keep up with my pain killers . I had my catheter out after 10 hours and was discharged 19 hours after my emcs I was so desperate to get home for dps help. Stairs definitely have to be taken one at a time!

Zoey92 · 11/06/2020 15:39

Had my sweep this afternoon cervix was very soft, facing back but turned no problem....& I'm 2cm!! 😯😯
Fingers crossed for the next few days🙏

38+4

Baby Rose arrives this morning at 10:02 weighing 6lbs (so much for the monster baby predicted) she's tiny and perfect!

Busylizzie85 · 11/06/2020 16:45

Congratulations @Blizy she sounds perfect x

Pegase · 11/06/2020 16:57

Congratulations!

Gigitree · 11/06/2020 16:59

Oh wow @Blizy congratulations! How are you feeling? That’s incredible that she’s only 6lbs. How far off with their estimate were they? Xx

Zoey92 · 11/06/2020 17:00

Congratulations @Blizy 💖

chocolate26 · 11/06/2020 17:06

@Blizy congratulations 😊 I love her name! How much did you expect her to weigh? She must be tiny! Mine was predicted quite big at first but its growth has slowed down now and my midwife said to expect him/her to be around 7lbs if I went to 40/41 weeks but I'm having him/her at 39 weeks so will be smaller than 7lbs I think!

LillianFullStop · 11/06/2020 17:40

Congrats @Blizy and @Chels2!

Wow babies coming thick and fast now I think we might be ready for a post natal club thread soon!
