You too @MissisBee! How you feeling about it? What gestation will you be?

mrssunshinexxx · 08/06/2020 17:40

@BirdGarden I think it works for some people and not for others it's like electric shocks @Magpie21 x

MissisBee · 08/06/2020 18:33

Thanks @Blizy. I'm sooo ready to have the baby now (will be 39+1), but actually getting quite nervous about the section. I know I'll be fine once I'm there. I've had a few episodes of mild contractions the past few days, would be quite happy if things started themselves.

chocolate26 · 08/06/2020 19:17

I had an appointment with my consultant due to a couple of mild heart conditions I have and because of a few symptoms I've been having they have decided to induce me this Saturday at 39 weeks! It suddenly feels very real and very exciting but also very scary 😳 this is my first baby so I have no idea what to expect!

chocolate26 · 08/06/2020 19:19

@Mj2196 congratulations on baby Jamie! He is gorgeous 🙂

BabyBird20 · 08/06/2020 19:55

@chocolate26 that's why I'm currently being induced!! So far it's involved a lot of waiting around and a lot of walking and ball bouncing!! I had a pessary put in at 8pm yesterday, stayed overnight and this morn started having period pain style aches and a permanent need for a wee bit no contractions yet! Taking paracetamol to take the edge off but going to ask for something stronger to try and get some sleep tonight! Take plenty of things to do, I've been on Netflix and Listenjng to audio books a lot, earplugs and eye mask for attempting to get sleep, comfy clothes, a fan, lots of snacks!! Dinner is at half 6 so by 10 last night I was ravenous!! 😂 I'm missing DH and my sofa but the midwives are so lovely and doing everything they can to make it a positive experience!

Pegase · 08/06/2020 23:05

Argh. Heartburn! That's it...

Lovely to hear from all of those over or nearly over the finishing line!

BirdGarden · 08/06/2020 23:13

For those of us who are hearing a lot of "oh, you're still at home then?!" and/or past 'due date'

@BabyBird20 🤣🤣🤣 your post couldn't be more true if it tried!
Even my brother video calls every day and is disappointed to see me still on my sofa! I want to go into labour just to get them off my back!

40+6

Missgemini · 08/06/2020 23:32

Oops baby brain! That was meant for @BirdGarden 😅😅

BirdGarden · 08/06/2020 23:47

What's grating me most is my mother in law commenting on my presence on video calls everyday. She had THREE overdue babies, up to 43 weeks!!! C'mon!!! 😵 I've only gone a few days over so far!

UKtoSK · 09/06/2020 01:46

Suddenly extra grateful my mother in law never calls me, she only calls my husband 😂 I’m only 37+3 so not at the annoying calls stage yet anyway.

I was looking at photos from a year ago and wondering if I’ll ever have a waist again 😭 I’ve loved dressing my bump but I am starting to miss my old clothes, it’s going to be 35 degrees here today and nothing is comfortable.

Busylizzie85 · 09/06/2020 02:08

😂😂😂 that's so accurate @BirdGarden I am so fed up with the constant texts!

Morning all, so I'm having a weird night. Woke up at 1am thinking waters had gone - trickle not a gush. Wiped in bathroom and was a very liquidy plug. Been having mild back cramp and period pain all day.

Rang triage went in, assessed. Waters not gone fully maybe hind waters trickling. Only dilated 1cm, cervix soft but thick still. By this point I'm having to breathe through contractions. Or tightening as they described. Sent me home got back about 3 but been unable to sleep because of the pain (again doing up breathing through them, had paracetamol and got a hot water bottle). It's just about bearable.

Mw said could still take 2 days to go into proper labour.

Panicking a bit as this is regular (every 5 mins or so but not always) but lasting varying lengths and it's pretty painful. How the F am I going to cope with proper labour pains if this ain't it? And at what point do I go back in with the pains if waters haven't gone? Should I be checking the regularity on an app or something? I live 30 mins from hosp so don't want to leave it too late, but then she's said it could take 48 hours. She even said at least I have my appointment on Thursday if nothing happens...WHAAAT.

40 weeks today, ironically!

UKtoSK · 09/06/2020 05:52

@Ginfilledcats I think the standard recommendation is 3 contractions in 10 minutes lasting a minute or more each to be considered established labour. Definitely use an app to track them. I have an app called Freya that’s made by the positive birth company (you mentioned up breathing so maybe you’ve done their course too?) sounds like things are getting started one way or another though, so that’s exciting! Put on some relaxing music, stay calm and remember each contraction is bringing you closer to your baby!! Keep us posted x

Ginfilledcats · 09/06/2020 05:56

@uktosk Thank you, yes big fan of PBC. I haven't been tracking on Freya as (stupidly) wasn't sure if these were contractions (FTM) but I think they must be. I'm fine in between but have to put my phone down and don4 up breathing exercises to get through them. Will start tracking... and listening to music. Where the heck are my headphones come to speak of it!

Thank you will keep you posted! Fingers crossed for not having 2 full days of latent labour! Been awake since 1am now!

How are you all doing

Busylizzie85 · 09/06/2020 06:15

I hope it starts to progress quickly @Ginfilledcats I'm a FTM too so I don't know what is what and how anything is supposed to feel!
I have the midwife this morning and I am hoping I can have a sweep to see if that kick starts anything. This morning I have noticed a lot of tightenings/Braxton hicks and some white stringy discharge so I am praying that is a good sign of things to come.

@MJ2196 congrats!!!

Magpie21 · 09/06/2020 08:20

@Ginfilledcats Well you have a very punctual baby! 😊 I hope things are progressing well. Sounds like you have a bit of a rhythm going on a contractions front, which hopefully is a good sign. Keep going with your breathing...baby could arrive sooner than you think! 😇

AndddddHerewegoagain · 09/06/2020 09:09

@Ginfilledcats this is exactly how my labour started with my first. 12 hours later he was in my arms so hoping you progress soon. Try and get some rest inbetween- i know that's easier said than done! Good luck x

LillianFullStop · 09/06/2020 09:40

Good luck @Ginfilledcats!

Breastfeeding update - colostrum easy to get now but full milk supply yet to come in. Seems a bit late I hope I haven't missed the boat at 7 days post partum. At this stage with DD I was about ready to drop the formula top ups. I have a hospital grade pump that I'm renting (I did not get on with my Medela) but I'm only getting a measly 10ml Confused will keep at it and see how we go.

Anyone tried or will try the Elvie? I'm trying to pump as often as feasible with a newborn and a toddler but it's so inconvenient to plug myself to a machine and sit still for a period of time!

Missgemini · 09/06/2020 09:54

So I think things might be starting slowly.
Lost mucus plug throughout yesterday and have been having period like cramps since yesterday. Overall, tummy just doesn't feel right.
Having my second sweep this afternoon, so hopefully the midwife will let me know how the cervix is doing.

@LillianFullStop I considered buying an evie, but the reviews did not justify the price in my opinion. I ended up getting the medela instead (I hope it works). I'm not there yet, but I've got formula on standby seeing as things don't always go according to plan. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Blizy · 09/06/2020 10:00

I'm another who had a weird night, I've been having tightenings and lots of pressure in my bum since around 9pm last night, they are not regular at all but some take my breath away. I'm thinking they are just Braxton hicks, trying to drink lots of water today to see if it helps. Baby needs to stay put until section on Thursday!

Busylizzie85 · 09/06/2020 10:05

Been sent to hospital as blood pressure high and swelling bad! 🙁
