@cb31 so sorry you've been dealing with the stress. I've been told that being overdue and coming in with reduced movements means a guaranteed offer of induction as baby is ready anyway.
Still up to you, but I would personally take it. Keep us updated xx

chocolate26 · 08/06/2020 11:42

@Cb31 sorry you are having that stress and concern! They are probably just being cautious since you are due anyway. If I was you I would accept the induction to be on the safe side even though things look okay. It's completely your choice though 😊 do what you feel is right.

mrssunshinexxx · 08/06/2020 11:45

@Ginfilledcats my tens is just a normal one trialled it on my arm the other day and it will be fine x

Cb31 · 08/06/2020 12:06

@Missgemini @chocolate26 thanks, really helps to talk it out. Decided to accept the induction so I'll get a call tomorrow morning telling me what time to go in. I think I'd gotten my head so set on having as natural a birth as possible that it was hard to let go of it. But at the end of the day it's just about getting baby here safely and I don't want to risk it. At least now I've got the day to finish getting my bags packed and put extra clothes, entertainment and snacks in! Can't believe I'll get to meet my baby in the next few days ☺️ x

Magpie21 · 08/06/2020 12:31

@mrssunshinexxx what does the Tens machine feel like on the skin? I was thinking of getting one but I thought it might not be good for me as I'm a bit jumpy! E.g. I jump if I get a static shock! 🙈

Goodness help me! I need to brave up in the next few weeks...ha ha

Mj2196 · 08/06/2020 12:32

Well ladies I hope your all well . Not had chance to catch up yet but On the morning of my section they did a bedside scan and baby had flipped head down so I was induced there and then . I laboured and it was lovely till 10cm when babas head would not come down resulting in a lot of distress . Things changed very quickly but Thankfully emergency section was done and I have a beautiful baby BOY.
Jamie was born on the 6/6 . Weighing in at 8lb 10 at 38+6 . I’m home and still completely shell shocked & rather weak after a 1.5 litre blood loss in theatre But in love 💙

@cb31 iv got an induction booked for this afternoon and still dont know if I'm going in! Its such a tough call isn't it. Mine has been recommended purely because of ivf, no other risk factors.. so hard to let go of the natural birth idea but I guess you never know what's going to happen regardless of whether you go for natural or induction - birth is unpredictable.

I'm struggling as been having cramps and backache all day as well as random tightening and loss of mucus plug a few days ago. I feel like the birth is close and dont know if I'm better to wait and see rather than going into hospital and potentially disrupting things by getting stressed etc...

Missgemini · 08/06/2020 12:37

@Mj2196 Awwww congratulations! He is cuteeee! I hope you're coping well at home. Sounds like it wasn't the most straightforward experience. But he is here now and he is beautiful xx

APD1981 · 08/06/2020 12:41

@Mj2196 ahhh congratulations! Jamie is gorgeous! He has loads of hair like my Freddie! Glad it all worked out in the end, despite the stress. I totally understand the shellshocked thing! Enjoy xx

For those talking about TENS machines... I borrowed one from my cousin and boy, am I glad I did. As I dilated and laboured so quickly it was my saving grace when I couldn't have pain relief. I actually declined my preferred pool birth because I'd have had to take it off. As I progressed I kept ramping it up and by the end I think I had it permanently on boost as my contractions felt constant. Helped with the pushing part too. It'd be my one recommendation from my experience. Obviously I don't have pain relief options to compare it to but I do know that I'd have found labour even more difficult without it.

BirdGarden · 08/06/2020 12:58

@Mj2196 congratulations! Hope you start feeling better in yourself soon X

@mrssunshinexxx should you feel anything when trying it out on your arm? I have a borrowed one to use, tried it on my arm and even on all the maximum settings never felt anything?? Either machine doesn't work or I am immune to the effects of tens! 🙈

Busylizzie85 · 08/06/2020 13:02

Congratulations @Mj2196 he is adorable 🥰👶🏼

@Mj2196 congratulations!
Welcome to the world Jamie x

Blizy · 08/06/2020 14:23

Congratulations @Mj2196 Jamie is perfect!

I had scan and consultant appointment this morning, looks like I'm having my baby on Thursday! I'll be 37+1 and I'm terrified!
I had steroid injection to help with her lungs. I'm so not ready for this yet....

MsMiaWallace · 08/06/2020 14:29

@Mj2196 congrats!! He is gorgeous xx

NakeliP · 08/06/2020 14:43

@HaichMal thanks - I did decide to go in for changed movements today. Triage in the MAU was like a comedy sketch. Two different midwives, a specialist registrar and an impromptu positional scan revealed it's still head down as mine could be sure what they were feeling! I was referred for the same scan two weeks ago because of the same reason so was starting to feel like a medical mystery! It's apparently head down, heart high up along with bum, and spine curling over at the top. She showed me on the scan and I still had no clue what was what! And that was before the CTG! Anyway, trace was all perfect, so I can only assume the difference in movement is a new normal and maybe because of its odd (but "great for birth") position! I hope it stays that way as long as people stop palpating me constantly! Reassured now :)

Gigitree · 08/06/2020 15:12

Congratulations @Mj2196 he’s gorgeous! Sorry to hear you had such a turbulent experience, but glad to hear you and baby are both doing well ♥️ Xxx

HaichMal · 08/06/2020 15:13

@NakeliP that's good to hear. I had my scan today too as a follow up from going in twice and all is well. She's engaged still and moving well since I went in. She's a good size and so they're leaving me to see what happens naturally. I think her pattern has changed too and that's what has thrown me. She's been quite active since yesterday evening, so between that and the scan, I'm feeling reassured.

I couldn't see much on the monitor either. She was pointing things out but I could barely make out what she was pointing at. I thought it would be a lot clearer at this stage but I actually saw more at the 20 week one.

@Mj2196 congratulations! I'm glad all went well in the end and he's here safe and sound.

@Cb31 perhaps think of it like you're just having a bit of extra help at the start to get things going, instead of losing your 'natural' birth idea completely? Would that help? Labour is such an unpredictable thing anyway.

Feeling very nauseous this afternoon. Not too many BH so far but she has been moving around a fair bit, which has been reassuring. Feeling a bit annoyed with myself for being a bit disappointed to find out that I'm not going to have the 6/7lb baby I was hoping for but another 8/9lber (not that there's anything wrong with those).

Missgemini · 08/06/2020 15:18

@Blizy you've got this! 37 weeks is term. Technically you could've gone into labour anyway. Crossing everything for you.

@nakelip Glad it was all ok in the end. I'm so looking forward to not having all these pregnancy worries once I've given birth!

Cb31 · 08/06/2020 15:21

@Mj2196 congratulations! He's gorgeous ☺️

@Girlinajumpsuit It is a really tough decision, let me know what you decide to do. At least you're already having signs of labour, I'm sure that will help everything along even if you are induced.

@HaichMal yeah you're right, that's a good way to look at it. I feel a lot better about it now. Plus I've been able to have a tidy round the house and get things prepped x

Missgemini · 08/06/2020 15:22

@HaichMal Glad you're feeling more reassured :)
My last scan was at 20 weeks, so who knows what the true weight of my baby will be. I am 41 weeks tomorrow as well. Starting to get a bit scared about having a big baby!

HaichMal · 08/06/2020 15:31

@Cb31 I'm glad. Make sure to try and rest and relax as much as you can as well. When I was induced, nothing much happened during the day but it all kicked off overnight so I went without sleep and was very glad I had rested as much as possible beforehand. And getting the house tidy and everything ready sound like a good plan and then there's less to do in the days after.

NakeliP · 08/06/2020 16:04

@HaichMal ah so glad your scan was all good too. I have no idea about the size of mine - never been referred for growth so only have the ol' tape measure to go by which suggests it's tracking somewhere between 50 and 90th, maybe 75thish? So if it's not in any hurry it could get to 8/9 lbs. I can't get my head around a non-small baby as I was only 5lbs 4oz at term, and I'm only 5'2" with an average sized husband... 38+5 now so will ramp up the walking, leaf tea and bouncing from Wednesday!

@Missgemini I know I've really tried not to worry and get into any anxiety loops. My mum suffers from anxiety which she's only really acknowledged and got under better control in the last couple of years (she's 68!) and I'm acutely aware of trying to relax and stay as calm as possible, but I'm very glad I went in for the peace of mind :)

peetieswie · 08/06/2020 16:17

I'm the same @missgemini. My bump measurement has been off the scale size wise as well but still not been scanned since 20 weeks. They said that a big baby isn't necessarily a problem so there isn't much point scanning anyway. I've got an appointment on weds so I'll ask again but not sure if I should push having a scan as I don't want induction or c section.. Wondering if my dates could be slightly wrong?

@Cb31 my friend was in a similar situation. Her sweep worked for her and she went into labour a few hours later!
Congratulations @Mj2196 hope you feel better soon. Jamie is gorgeous.
Good luck @Blizy

I had to go and get my covid swab this morning, prior to my section this Thursday. Let's say it was interesting.... Nurse was very lovely.
