@Lazydaisydaydream That is really useful - thank you 😊

Lilice · 05/06/2020 10:11

@ShiningStarz nice shelves. I'm going to buy that one from the same website, so that I can put book and toys.
An activity mat is good from early on, for tummy time as well.

Ah we have that unit @Lilice it's lovely! And we have a book case too but it's not the wall mounted one. They often have 20/30% off so keep an eye out. Delivery is pretty quick too :)

our nursery is a lovely soft greeny/grey tone. Just on the hunt for some curtains and fallen down a rabbit hole!!

ah @Lazydaisydaydream i didn't realise that you couldn't tumble dry them. That's good to know. Yes, we will be getting cheeky wipes, great for when they're weaning too!!

@ChipsAreLife I'm glad you have the same and you're happy with it. I wanted a bigger one because we've already got so many books for the baby 🤣
How do cheeky wipes work? Are they like cloths?

ShiningStarz · 05/06/2020 12:47

That's looks lovely @Lilice

Jojo Maman Bebe have discounts on and max 25% off when spend £100 I think it was
I really want the duck and stars sleepsuit in newborn but it's sold out ☹️

ShiningStarz · 05/06/2020 17:06

Anyone tried this and recommend it??

Roxy8203 · 05/06/2020 19:52

@ShiningStarz I've ordered one. Obviously haven't used it tho so can't really comment

OrDis · 05/06/2020 20:23

@ShiningStarz i’ve ordered one too- again though first baby so no idea if it’ll be any good. I figured i’d get a couple of those and some blankets and then just see what she prefers. If she likes the sleeping bags I can just get the next size up then once needed, if she doesnt like it then I won’t bother

ShiningStarz · 05/06/2020 20:48

Good plan @OrDis I got the snuz pouch 2.5btog sleeping bag 0-6 months. It has a zip but at bottom so nappy can be changed without taking whole thing off. I think I'll invest in this one too as the arms can be zipped in so might be good for settling them 🤞

ShiningStarz · 05/06/2020 21:35

Ps think my stomach has been squished up to my boobs last couple days!! So uncomfortable eating and after eating !!

OrDis · 05/06/2020 21:53

Same here @ShiningStarz, I don’t think the heartburn phase is far off for me now! My tummy makes rumbles in the weirdest places now! It’s definitely squished haha

Lazydaisydaydream · 05/06/2020 22:11

I've had heartburn for months! Has been struggling on with gaviscon which is what I used last time, mentioned it to the consultant and she gave me a prescription for omeprazole and wish I'd gotten it sooner... One tablet every day and my heartburn is completely gone! So glad as it was making it hard to lie down to sleep at night!

Margo34 · 06/06/2020 07:35

Hi ladies can I join you? Due 26 Sept!

Been woken up by bump this morning because I think baby has hiccups! Certainly feels like it! 😍😄

emma278 · 06/06/2020 07:57

Welcome @Margo34 congrats!

Ah lovely so cute! I think mine doesnt like me sleeping on my side as soon as i turn onto my side each night i start getting booted which is useful 🙈

ChipsAreLife · 06/06/2020 08:19

Welcome @Margo34! Ah cute with the hiccups though.

@lazydaisydream ugh to the heartburn. I remember just drinking gaviscon with my last. I've got the lovely pregnancy present of piles yesterday 🙈😤

Did everyone see the news that we now we need to wear masks at hospital apps from 15 June? Just worth getting some if you don't already.

Welcome and congrats @Margo34

@Lilice thanks for the tip on tummy time!! When I read more it suggested doing it from they come home for few minutes few times a day and then slowly building to 10/15 mins!
Iv seen this and looks good, had detachable pillow to help with tummy time at the beginning and then the sides fold up and can be filled with the balls provided for later, at £80 is it worth it?! Would last longer than just play mat though. Oh and toya are detachable and can be moved.

Folded with the balls! Looks fun

Lilice · 06/06/2020 10:12

Welcome @Margo34 and congrats!

@ChipsAreLife i wore a mask at my 20 week scan, because I wanted to. I went to the supermarket for the first time since the start of the lockdown yesterday and also wore a mask. Was surprised to see no one did. My family is in France and over there, it's compulsory to wear one in public places. I just hope we wont have to wear one during labour but from what I understand inpatients dont have to wear one.

@ShiningStarz that mat looks class!

Margo34 · 06/06/2020 11:06

I've been looking at the same one @ShiningStarz and was so surprised how much play mats can cost! I'm still hesitant though.

Also planning on using reusable nappies and have started a mini stash of one from each brand to try to start with, Totsbots, Little Lamb, Littles and Blooms, Bambino Miosolo, and Little Love Bums. The latter seems to be my fav so far (although not actually used it yet except on a teddy 🐻). Arranged to hire a newborn reuseable nappy kit from my local nappy library for £15 a month too from just before due date which seems very reasonable! I've got a few disposables for the early days though to get started with. No local authority incentive to use reuseables from my council sadly! I'm yet to buy reuseable wipes but cheeky wipes on my list. Their kits has 25 wipes in it and I can't imagine that'd be enough!?

I really hope we don't have to we won't have to wear a mask in labour 😷

ShiningStarz · 06/06/2020 12:39

@Margo34 I'm going to keep an eye on various sites and hopefully grab an offer on it!! The reviews are really positive, think the ball pit really extends the time baby gets out of it.

ChipsAreLife · 06/06/2020 15:05

I think it'll be hard to make women wear masks in labour? What about using gas and air, trying to breathe through contractions etc?

I spent my first throwing up and my ELCS I was sick too. I know I've got to wear one this time around but I'm sure they'll just let me take it off when I start being sick.

I've been told we may all have to self isolate two weeks before my section and that I'll probably get tested during pre op.

OP posts:
ShiningStarz · 06/06/2020 18:12

Iv heard patients arriving at the hospital and being tested for covid and put into side room for delivery but not wearing masks, the staff will all be in ppe tho! Results come back within few hours so then can be moved on to shared ward. I won't be wearing a mask!!!! Omg can you imagine how horrendous that would be !!

Lazydaisydaydream · 06/06/2020 18:55

@Margo34 we just have 25 cheeky wipes which has been OK washing every other day but going to buy another set to top it up now I'll be using it on two of them. More wipes means less pressure on the washing Grin but at least with cheeky wipes you can just take them straight out of the washing machine and start using them, don't need to dry them first.

And on the masks... No way would I wear a mask during birth. I'd rather give birth at home with just my husband there!

ShiningStarz · 06/06/2020 20:23

I know I'v asked this before but I'm so clueless and not sure if I'v done the right thing..

Iv bought snuzpod 3 for upstairs for night and I'm happy with that. Got sheets too.

I bought the babylo snug for downstairs, it's a sturdy type Moses basket basket but bigger. It was £70 from Smyth's! Just not sure if I'll need it?? Maybe sleepy pod in the corner of our l shaped sofa be better?? Or just the pram although don't like the through of bassinet being on floor for naps... any advice.. again!! Greatly appreciated x
