Morning or should I say afternoon 🤦🏼‍♀️ hope everyone is well ! Thanks for the recommendations , I'm going with the snuzpod , didn't realise it went so low so it will do the job perfectly !!
I've got so much holiday to take ! But my boss is useless and is unhappy for me to take it before Mat leave as I'm furloughed but if I carry it over then I'll have nearly 9 weeks to take next year and I won't be back until September and I doubt he'll let me take it then 😔🤣

I've only got one book , the classic what to expect when you're expecting 🤣😂

Ended up at ABC today as slightly less movements, so hooked up to measure his heart rate. I'll say one thing , beds are comfy 😝

Anyone have any thoughts on carrycots vs lie flat reclined seat on the buggy? We’ve been given a really old out n about Nipper - which is fab except it isn’t compatible with their carry cot although it does lie flat and have a newborn support insert so should theoretically be fine? Deciding whether it’s worth upgrading to a newer model for a carrycot or if we’re fine with the lie flat given that it’s only for the first few months and I’m planning to do quite a bit of baby wearing anyway for walks etc?

I’m moving quite a lot of my leave to next year as well. So busy at work right now there’s no way I’d be able to take it all before I go! Going to use having so much when I go back to go back part time while still getting paid full time (if I can get HR to agree).

@Piper1879 hope all is ok!

ShiningStarz · 03/06/2020 13:41

@Piper1879 that's my issue too! I think I'll do 4 day weeks when I return to work next year from sept-Dec!! Like the thought of not going back totally full time!
I'm comfortable now with working from home but I really wouldn't want to be sat at a desk with laptop from 36 weeks so kinda glad I finish up early August. My manager already said I'm too High risk to go back before my due date. Some of your managers sound awful, men!!!! ☹️

sianyflewog · 03/06/2020 14:01

@ShiningStarz That was exactly me - wanting to do everything “right”. Except there is no right or wrong as long as the baby is clean, fed and loved?

All this years remaining leave will be used in July & August over school holidays - and then I was supposed to return for enrolment, before starting my maternity leave on 31st August. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m then taking 4 weeks leave from next years entitlement at the end of my maternity leave, returning for our training & admin weeks at the end of Summer term, Summer holidays off and back properly from September. Pretty sure they can’t stop you from taking your leave - you’ve worked for that entitlement, so put your foot down! You can always lay on the table the different options you have for taking it, as long as it’s not lost. I’d say prior to mat leave, after mat leave, return part time for x weeks and use the holidays for the days off or they pay you for those days. I’m sure they’d prefer any option except to pay them!

sianyflewog · 03/06/2020 14:02

Welsh Government have just announced return to schools at the end of June, and an extension of Summer term by a week so it will be interesting to see what they do with the college 🤔

I work for myself so any holiday I take I don't really get paid for :( I have taken none really this year so going to finish up three weeks before my section so I can get everything ready.

Totally agree on the books. I read Gina Ford (i know she's controversial now) with my first as my friend thought it was marvellous. Sadly my first had some minor health issues and barely slept. there was no routine and I thought I was the worse parent ever, it really got me down. Second baby I just followed her lead. Certainly the first three months you just have to with the flow I think. I was much more happier and chilled.

if you want guidance on breastfeeding Kelly Mom website is great.Plus mumsnet and other mums you know who have done it i found the best resource! The main thing is just be prepared to be glued to your baby solidly for 6 weeks to get your supply up. I think that was the bit i hadn't got my head around!!!

@ShiningStarz That's lovely. Can I ask where you got it from? I will need a blanket for pram etc!

ShiningStarz · 03/06/2020 14:46

It's a tutti bambini blanket and I got it from amazon, was £5 cheaper compare to other sites with no delivery charge. Never thought I'd spend £31.50 on a baby blanket but I'll have it a longtime! At least can't see stains on it!! 🙈

ShiningStarz · 03/06/2020 14:47

Thanks @ChipsAreLife good advice!! I think with lockdown ... ish by sept, being glued 24/7 will be ok, I'm already used to being glued to DP by now lol 🤣🤣

Lilice · 03/06/2020 14:54

@ChipsAreLife I'm the same, self employed so no paid holidays and will rely on the government's maternity leave. I'm glad the chancellor is extending the help until August, that way I will start my maternity leave in September. Otherwise I was going to start it in august. But I will be using my kit days to go back next February or march, and then resume work, if I can manage.

I also have the Gina Ford book. I cant remember anything from it. I know I really liked one called secrets of the baby whisperer but cant remember any if it either 🤯. I did put my babies on a routine from the very beginning and will do the same again, as it worked with us and made sleep easier.

@Sara7455 With my first and second baby, I didnt have a carry cot and just used the car seat that clipped on the pram.

sianyflewog · 03/06/2020 15:57

@lilice Is the Baby Whisperer the one with the EASY routines? I did like the concept but H just didn’t match them. I follow a blog called Wee Bee Dreaming, and her routines seemed to emulate H’s - it really helped me when I was dropping naps.

ShiningStarz · 03/06/2020 17:13

Hi ladies I need some advice re. Nappies!
I really wanted to use reuseable but I don't have a tumble dryer and I don't want to have to reply on dehumudifier being on constantly to dry clothes and nappies. Also want to focus on breastfeeding as opposed to learning how to handle the reusable nappies. So for now I'm going with pampers.

My question is how long will baby need size 1?? Is size 0 too teeny?

Lidl baby event starts tomorrow and the pampers 22 pack is £2. £1 off. Thought too good to not start stocking up! Am I mad?!!

ShiningStarz · 03/06/2020 17:23

It's also 2 packs of 60 water wipes for £4.

Roxy8203 · 03/06/2020 17:27

@ShiningStarz I'm going to be using reusable nappies and hopefully will from day 1. I've been doing a lot of research and watching videos on YouTube. I've started getting my stash together to give me time to figure them out

MooseWL · 03/06/2020 17:29

@shiningstarz I have decided to go with reusables once baby fits into the one size ones (about 14lb) so I don't have to buy extra newborn ones and also I think it's a bit much at the beginning so am going to also start with disposables. It's probably a good idea to get some in! If you buy some each week it will spread the cost out more!
What does everyone think of pampers? My friend swears that the aldis own ones are better!

MooseWL · 03/06/2020 17:30

@piper1879 hope everything is okay!

ShiningStarz · 03/06/2020 17:31

@Roxy8203 I'll be watching your YouTube videos once your little one arrives and you are sharing your demonstrations!! I do think it's a no brainer to go reusable but I agree with @MooseWL it's a lot of pressure at the start.

ShiningStarz · 03/06/2020 17:38

@Piper1879 so sorry I missed your post. Hope all is ok.💜

Piper1879 · 03/06/2020 17:47

Finally back ! Ended up being on trace for about an hour and half ... all is fine , bubs is now wriggling about like mad 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ he didn't move at his normal times today and was very light movements , I thought it was best to check it over. Whilst I was there my hospital had no record of me existing 😡 I also asked about my consultant app and growth scans , growth scans have been cancelled unless your BMI is 45 although mine is 44.7 and will potentially get higher if I put more weight on , still been denied them due to covid. Midwives weren't happy about it but apparently it's a national trust/guideline thing ....

Piper1879 · 03/06/2020 17:48

Unsure what nappies to even look at .... all feels like a minefield atm 🤣😂 I like the idea of reusable ones but not sure if I'll get lazy ?

ShiningStarz · 03/06/2020 17:53

That's great @Piper1879 glad al is ok. Bit worrying you didn't exist on their system though!!! Omg!!!
I rub and poke my belly daily to make sure I get a response! Makes me feel so much better!! Can't wait until baby is out although prob something else to worry about then 🙈

Lilice · 03/06/2020 18:16

@sianyflewog yes that's it, the easy routines!! I had completely forgotten about that but yes that's the routine we used. I did tweak it a bit but followed roughly the order eat activity sleep. In the early days then go straight from feeding to sleeping though lol.

@MooseWL I used Pampers at the beginning. Then got cheaper ones like supermarket brands for daytime but kept pampers for the night

Lilice · 03/06/2020 18:16

@Piper1879 glad all ok with your baby x

Bubble29 · 03/06/2020 18:43

@sianyflewog I'm also FE.

I'm not expected to go back in at all and I'm not starting my mat leave until after enrolment in Aug. As I'll be 'WFH' I'm starting mag leave 5 days before I'm due, as I'd had been off all summer. I'm rolling over 20days of AL so plan to go back the last 7 days of the summer term 2021 during development. It's pretty chilled then. Will go back FT for the academic year 2020-21 so I'm paid FT from July- Aug and then I'll review my contact hours for 2021-22.
