K27 - I was here last week stressing about the lack of movement at almost 20 weeks. The scan this week showed placenta at the front (anyone know how common this is?) meaning that I'm much less likely to feel things. Now I know that, I know those dull thuds are probably the baby and am not feeling for little fluttery butterflies like I was before. It was 19 + 4 before I felt anything definite and even might have missed that if I hadn't had my hand over the spot at the time. So don't stress, it's so easy to think the worst but there's no need to as there seems to be such a huge variation in who feels what when.

Ah Gill so your little one is same as Dory, with placenta at front. No idea how common it is but sonographer said it shouldn't make any difference to birth, it is low lying that is the problem one (or so she says).

I had felt little flutterings before, but I felt baby move properly at 18+2.

Scan on Tuesday - can't wait to find out now.

It is low Egg but not too low just yet - so another scan at 32 weeks to find out if it's a problem. Guess I shouldn't really think about it cause if I assume I'm going to have a C section and then it turns out I don't need one I won't have long to get used to the idea of doing it the hard way

Hmmm, I keep thinking about pros and cons of c-section / natural delivery for Nemo and Dory. I do remember thinking with DS that I would welcome a c-section as it sounded so much easier, and one of my friends knew she had to have one and wished she didn't, but with hindsight I am glad I didn't have to have one. Saying that I was lucky and had an easy labour, imagine it is a whole different kettle of fish if you have a long or difficult labour.

I kind of figure that planned c-section would be good as can know when it is happening, sort out care for DS, plan for it better, no risk of pushing one out and then having emergency c-section for other, etc etc, but I just don't want to not be able to drive, or struggle to get DS in the bath / cot / up for cuddles etc.

Anyway, just thinking out loud there . Will see how things pan out. Nice that you get to see baby again though . I think I get another scan at 28 weeks and then at 34 weeks, or something similar.

K27 - you're due the same date as me. When you have a moment, you should add your details to the list - just copy & paste. I was very lucky and felt 1st and this baby move at about 15 wks, but wasn't sure it was really baby till 16 wks each time. As others have said, 18-22 weeks is 'normal' for a 1st baby so you've got plenty of time .

Egg - you are having the same ponderings as me about C-sections vs natural. I am desperate not to repeat my 1st birth experience (long, difficult labour) so have been up to hosp & got 'permission' for C-section. Now I have to decide what I want to do. I go back to hosp at 32 to make a 'birth plan'. It seems such a huge decision...

samsmam - sorry to hear about your PND. Pregnancy can be tough enough without a little one to deal with, but the PND will probably be making life even harder for you. Have you got lots of support - practical and emotional? Keep posting on the board.

Thanks I feel like I just come back and post now was feeling bit weird about it for some reason. I do have support but no one really understands. I'm a bit of a cover upper, like pretend things are fine.

I'm supposed to be back at work as from last Monday but GP didn't feel like I should. Its getting more and more difficult to think about doing that too.

Hope all the placentas sort themselves out.

We'll try and look after you as much as we can samsmam...it can be a lonely place so try and keep posting.

I'm back! And all is well!!!! We are so relieved and excited and ...overwhelmed really!

And we're having a boy crumb!!! That's gonna take a bit of getting used to...I'd kinda convinced myself it was going to be a girl but the fact he's ok is a million times more important!

It's such a miracle isn't it?

Congrats on the boy Jo and glad everything went well. I just said yesterday at my scan that it really is such a miracle. Our babies are now fully formed and they look just like proper humans and WE HAVE GROWN THEM OURSELVES!! Sorry, just got a bit excited there.

Samsmam, are you supposed to be just returning to work after having your DD, or have you had time off recently (sorry I ought to remember). Going back must be so hard even if you are feeling 100%, not pregnant, and not suffering from PND. I hope you start to feel better soon.

has anyone not found out the sex of their baby? or is planning not to?

in my previous three pregnancies we havent found out the sex, with the first we wanted a suprise, with the next two i was tempted to find out, but dp was ADAMANT that he didnt want to know. He says its the only "true suprise" in life etc, and has even said to me that it "will help you get through labour" anyway my scan is in three weeks and i cant decide, iam very temepted to find out, and tho dp doesnt really want to, he has said that this time i can if i want to. but i don know, aghhhhh i kind of want to know, not that i am bothered what sex it is, but then i am paranoid i may 'jinx' it or something... thoughts please or am i just mad?

3madboys why don't you take the result home in an envelope and then if you manage to convince him to change his mind you can still find out? (you'll have to be strong not to sneak a look in the middle of the night though!) Help you get through labour ha ha ha. Like if you have something to think about you'll forget about that little bit of discomfort.

Egg - I guess you're in a different boat with 2 of them, but my thoughts about c section are that I would be a bit regretful about not doing it naturally, but would prefer the decision to be out of my hands - ie better to be told in advance this is what's going to happen and accept it, rather than having one because you've tried to do it yourself and failed! (and had a nightmare into the bargain)

Hello iampgatlast! So did it take a while (hence your name?). You never know, you might not be late, my DS was two days early and he was my first, but it's nicest if you stay with us as we are lovely!!!

Have you had your scan yet? Everyone here (as you prob have read) has been finding out flavours, with only a few being patient enough to wait.

it took me 11nmonths to conceive after a mc. this will be my first and i am oneof the impatient ones...we found out we are having a boy and are calling him oscar. we have a 4d scan booked for the 20th october i cannot wait!!

where did your name come from? do you know what you are having. havent really read much of the thread but will do (might take a while!!) look forward to chatting with you all though and will add my name to the list
