Pk616 · 21/11/2007 14:30

Ok ladies,
I'm back!!
I know the old vampire phobia is a bit daft (especially as the anti d injection was physically more painful - It doesn't "hurt" though for those of you who may have to have one and they put it in your thigh so make sure you've got your nice/amusing knickers on)but I suppose the mind is a funny thing!
Anyway, I got through it without too much disaster wipes cold sweat from brow. I was more wound up than usual about it because DP couldn't come with me this time! Thankfully that should be it until new years eve

Egg - Ok now I feel bad for not telling you to go see a medic of somekindI hope you're feeling better and it wasn't anything serious

Lovemymom - Don't appologise for wanting a baby, I've wanted one for the last 7 years (I wasn't even in a proper relationship until 2004!)!
I think it's a beautiful thing to get married and 'catch' not long after that

gingermumi - My fella has made the offer of sleeping on the sofa too and sometimes I wish he'd just go and do it 'cause I couldn't bring myself to ask him too! ooh it'd be lovely to have some room though!

excited - At least I'm not the only vamp phobe! I've heard from a friend who recently gave birth that when you're in labour needles pale into insignificance and you hardly notice them at the time so you should be fine. As for next week, focus on your man and his support and don't even watch the vampire prepare her tools and you should fair better than last time

Amy - sorry to hear you're suffering with your spd. here's an idea to beat off some of your nesting frustrations... compile a list of things you want done, get your family and closest friends over and then enjoy watching them do all the dirty work!!

LOVEMYMUM · 21/11/2007 14:33

Hi Tallulah. Saw my arse and thought the mirror was a trick one . I would say, stop worrying about the sleeping position cos you will probably roll over in your sleep anyway. If you are worried about sleeping positions or anything else during pregnancy, contact your midwife or GP. I did, even for a tiny spot of pink discharge -went straight to maternity triage at hospital, all was ok, just a little friction during sex, and the midwife said, come and see us, that's what we're here for. Mind you, i'm aware from mumsnet postings that that attitude is not commonly found.

LOVEMYMUM · 21/11/2007 14:37

PK616. Its lovely its happened so quickly - but i'm still learning to cook for my hubbie - who had to eat at his mum's for the first few months of pregnancy cos i couldn't open the fridge without retching. Mind you - he's thrilled (and excited and nervous and so am I).

Gingermumi - we have a king-size bed which i'm very grateful for. Hubbie has taken to using the Mothercare long sausage cushion when he sleeps (to support his back).

Pk616 · 21/11/2007 14:43

Lovemymum - He he, I'm still trying to get out of cooking for my fella lol! The man likes marrowfat peas from a tin, and they smell like death, yack!!

Lucyand2 · 21/11/2007 15:49

When I lie there at 2am I often think of everyone on here and wonder if they're awake too. I'm up every 2 hours to wee so even if I do get to sleep I'm up again with a full bladder (I think it is getting severely squashed as I barely pee but feel desperate!)
I often wake up on my back so hopefully it's not too bad! I might just give up and come on here soon instead of lying there getting angry.
My visit to the midwife was traumatic yesterday, the lady before me had some kind of emergency as my midwife was running round phoning the hospital and saying she didn't know what to say to the lady! The receptionists were looking very upset too.
When I did go in my lovely midwife said my bump was big and has threatened me with a GTT test as I had a high glucose reading on my urine test (perhaps something to do with the half pack of choc fingers an hour before going?)
I had one last time so I'm not too worried but then I think I'm too tired to be worrying anymore.
Welcome to the new people and I hope you're sleeping better than me!

miniandme · 21/11/2007 16:50

Egg hope your feeling better today hun,it looks like th strain of carrying 2 is starting to get to both of us now. I had to call for help today after being at the shopping centre for about 20 mins, almost collapsed in a pool os sweat, tears and vomit, was totally horrible !!
Then i had midwife where she told me i know measure 40cms,even though im only 29 wks !! So am left wondering now just how early the babies will arrive! My body has never gotten to this size as my singelys were born at 387 and 38 wks !!
Then the day got better with a physio appointmnet for SPD where she gave me a set of crutches so now not only am i massively huge i also am getting about on a set of crutches
Am feeling so tired doing nothing but cooking these babies, feeling sick and dizzy all the time and just generally yuk!!
Hope everyone is doing well and expanding nicely !!

Hi miniandme. I'm so sorry you're feeling so bad.

Gotta go - husband home for dinner. One of the rare occasions i'm cooking!!

beansprout · 21/11/2007 20:48

Miniandme - sorry to hear you are feeling so bad, that sounds pretty grim.
Egg - hope you are feeling ok today.
Leesmum - big hug to you for writing your mum's xmas card.

Not great here, am now 30 weeks and feeling every damn day of it. Am tooo tired to function very well and my life is just one long series of shortcuts which is leaving me feeling pretty pants about myself.

Lovemymum - welcome! You must be in NW London too? I am in Willesden (and am at Queen Charlottes).

Slacker · 21/11/2007 21:25

Since this thread is now 960 posts long and we are all considerably more than 'half way there' by now...does anyone have suggestions for the new thread title? (Don't ask me, I don't do wit)

tyaca · 21/11/2007 22:32

oooooh slacker, a challenge. hurrah!

.... some thoughts

too big to bother
insomniacs anon
wide awake and waiting
slow, slower and stationary

DH suggests "Bringing kids into a world where England can't even bl**dy qualify for Euro 08" but i dont think he really gets the task in hand...

rozzyraspberry · 22/11/2007 09:46

How about 'waddling into the third trimester' as I have just had a comment at work that I've started to waddle! Felt like saying 'so would you if it felt like something was twisting your bits every time you took a step'!!!!

Hope everyone who's struggling is feeling ok today! I'm in quite a good mood as we've arranged babysitters for next Friday (DH's birthday) so we can go out for the first time in ages! And I'm treating myself to a cut and colour on Thurs so will be feeling nice!

Egg · 22/11/2007 09:51

Morning ladies feeling a lot better thank god I was picturing the rest of the pregnancy feeling like that . I slept as much as poss which seemed to help. Was going to ask my mum to come down to help but she was poorly too, and I would need to be admitted to hospital before getting my MIL here...

Mini your experience sounds awful. I think if I had been out at any point when I was feeling my worst I would have been stuck and needed rescuing but thankfully was only at home. Also only have one DS to look after and you have three DC. The thought of food was making me feel horrendous but now I can eat a bit, although still not very hungry (very unlike me). My bump is not huge at all, but it is hard as a rock and I just feel like they are running out of room already. I know when I found out there were two in there, I planned to defy the odds and get as close to term as possible, now I am hoping they come out as soon as we are in 2008 (but not before...).

Leesmum, felt so sad reading about your christmas card for your mum. Are you all going to be together at Christmas? It must be so hard with your first Christmas without your dad coming up, plus your pregnancy coming closer to the end too.

Welcome to LOVEMYMUM, I have a couple of friends who conceived on their honeymoon and one who conceived two months before the wedding but managed to keep it a secret!

Last pg I slept on my back a lot and never had any problems, this time it is uncomfortable and I do get dizzy, so I sleep on my side. In the morning I often wake up almost on my tummy and it doesn't feel uncomfortable, but couldn't go to sleep like that at night as it is twice as big after all the food and drink of the day!

excitedm2b · 22/11/2007 10:31

Egg - glad you're feeling better.
Miniandme - hope you're better today too, that sounds like a really horrible experience.

Lovemymum - I'm at the Royal Free too. Where do you live? I'm in West Hampstead. Beansprout, you're not far away either!

Totally agree we need a new thread - am useless at being creative myself but like Tyaca's ones on the theme of no sleep after yet another night of suffering!

Gill79 · 22/11/2007 10:37

Hi everyone - seems we're all having a bit of a hard time! Egg and Mini (and everyone else) hope you feel a bit better (or at least it doesn't get any worse!)

Moved into our new house at the weekend and spent three days moving stuff, trying to be good but it's hard with so much to do and tbh even carrying light things is really hurting back and hips, and bump permanently aching. After seeing DP attempting to build flatpack wardrobe decided would be best to tackle all future projects myself (what is it about men and instructions?) and built a big chest of drawers last night, crawling round the floor collecting screws and bits of wood as it hurts too much to stand up (should add that DP was out and not idly sitting by!)

Not sleeping that great, walking like a duck and having the odd period of total exhaustion and sickness but thankfully quite rare, feel quite energised by the excitement of the new place and got plenty on at work (also the boiler being broke and no TV aerial in the new house means less inclined to lethargy!) Oh and put on at least a stone and a half.

Lovely pics Alkar! Must be amazing to know what your baby looks like.....

Jo9977 · 22/11/2007 10:38

Loved the names for the next thread tyaca! Any would do for me especially the first ...although some of us might be nearer to "too bus-like to give a monkey's"!

Sorry to everyone struggling with so much stuff...sleeplessness, SPD, sickness, largness etc

Specially feel for you leesmum - this time of year really hits home doesn't it? We're just coming up to the first anniversary of my brother passing away and that weekend with my mum and sister in law is going to be so hard.

Could anyone comment on the Mamas and Papas Aria in Argos (£179.99)? Looks good to me but would appreciate someone who knows what they're on about!

Gill79 · 22/11/2007 10:38

at least half a stone

that's better

Bessie123 · 22/11/2007 11:05

Gill - your bump is the same shape as mine except I've put on nearer 2 stone

Jo - so sorry to hear about your brother; I hope the coming weeks are bearable.

leesmum · 22/11/2007 11:11

morning

Mini how are you doing today? What a horrible time you've had, I think those of you who are carrying TWO should try and slow it down a bit. It's very hard when you have other children, with your first pregnancy you can have a rest/sleep when you want but its different when you have other children to consider.

I finish 3 WEEKS ON SAT and if anyone else says "oh how lovely you'll be able to have a nice rest and put your feet up" i'm going to go mad!!

Egg, glad you are feeling a bit better, when is your next scan? Have you been thinking about the birth a bit more, have you been told yet how far on you will be able to go or will they keep giving you regular growth scans in the last few weeks?

I am starting to think a lot more about how hard this christmas is going to be without dad. We are all at twin sisters for christmas dinner then at ours for boxing day. I know its going to be a sad day but you know what, everyday is a little bit sad so once i have had my big cry in the morning i can get on with having a fun day with my 3yr old, he's going to find it fascinating this year so i shall be getting excited with him because i will not let myself become ill over this

Come on ladies lets have some funny new thread titles cos we will need some soon.

how about Due Feb 08 Babies dancing the fandango on our fanjo's!!

No seriously im just being a smutty cow can anybody come up with anything clean

Egg · 22/11/2007 13:28

LOL, any new thread title suggestions are fine by me except leesmum's one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Egg · 22/11/2007 13:28

Egg · 22/11/2007 13:29

I didn't blooming well press the darn "post message" button twice.

Gill79 · 22/11/2007 13:35

I vote for the fanjo one.

Tallulah1978 · 22/11/2007 13:55

How about 'Waddling our Way to February.....'

Made the mistake last night of trying to put on my pre-pregnancy size 8 trousers on (just to see) Now I knew that I obviously wouldn't be able to fasten them - but crikey o'riley I could barely get them past my knees! I don't have any weighing scales and i keep forgetting to ask the midwife to weigh me when I go so god knows how much I've put on. I was 7st 6 when I fell pregnant - although it's more usual for me to be 8st6. I needed to put weight on as my BMI was low at my booking in so I am classed as high risk.I realised how much more I must weigh when I jumped on DP the other nightand sat on him and looked at me with horror and just said 'christ, get off' and made a winded noise. (Quickly followed by 'you're stil beautiful!')

Slpet better last night - had a bath with lavendar and 'moonflower' in and it knocked me out - I was shattered tho. Roll on the weekend.

Egg · 22/11/2007 15:04

Beany - just saw on your post that you feel like your life is like one long series of shortcuts... I am with you on that. DS is getting crap food, crap entertainment, the tv is on more and more, I feel like I am cutting corners to save me hassle, and it is poor DS who is missing out . I wanted to make this time really special while he is still the only one, but it's not working out that way. I guess it will help get him used to being ignored . Poor love.

Hope you are feeling a bit better today .

gingermumi · 22/11/2007 16:29

Love the new thread names... so reassuring that i'm not the only one who feels so crap!

Leesmum, you're very brave, sounds like your family are all suppotive of each other which is really good. Take care hun.

Sleeping still pants and too scared to look at my arse!

Gill- congrats on housemove - don'nt over do it!

Lovemymum - we have a kingsize bed too and i still can't get comfy. Someone posted that they wondered if the memory foam mattresses made things worse.. i was wondering that too. Any ideas?
