Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mummylittle · 17/09/2007 22:08

Hi ladies, i havent been on for a while as been so busy at work!!

Braid, hungrymama, Rosequartz - sorry to hear about your worry times at the mo, I can only imagine how u feel, as i was very worried up until i got my results.

If this helps to reasure my close friend had a 1:75 chance, had an early scan and soft markers were found, however she didnt want to risk the amnio, she then had a heavy bleed at 24 weeks!
Baby was born 3 weeks premature but is now a healthy, happy 1 year old little boy!
I know its easier said than done but try and be positive!! xxx

Bambiraptor - I did the chinese predictor it said im having a girl, but ive got a strong feeling its a boy!! Not long to wait now thou, find out on the 25th!!

Has anyone been suffering with leg cramp during the night?

Sorry this is such a long thread, need to talk to other pregnant woman as dont talk about it at work at all!!xx

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 09:55

Cld someone post a link to a chinese predictor?

Ta

Jo9977 · 18/09/2007 10:44

Which thread are we sticking with??? I'm confused (doesn't take a lot!)

alkar · 18/09/2007 10:45

Bessie - I wouldnt bother, it said I was having a girl and 2 different sonographers said its a boy!

Rosequartz, I have said before that I used to do downs screening and it isn't always that accurate. Like Violeta said if your HCG or AFP is slightly higher or lower than it should be then this will increase your risk. I would ask for an early anomaly scan before thinking about an amnio.

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 11:15

Alkar - everyone says predictors are rubbish but I want to know - I'm so impatient and next week's scan feels so far away...

alkar · 18/09/2007 11:19

Bessie I know exactly how you feel, when everyone was telling me not to find out the sex and have a nice suprise at the birth I knew I wouldn't be able to last that long, we are both far too impatient! Its nice now we know, we have started saying he rather than it, makes things more real.

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 11:25

Have you chosen a name yet, Alkar? We have agreed on a girl's name, but not a boy's. I am so sure I'm having a boy, which will make the naming more difficult.

alkar · 18/09/2007 11:44

Not yet- we had picked a girls name but still unsure for a boy. When is your scan??

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 11:47

Tuesday next week (25th).

What was your girl's name? We like Daisy Hannah. I (really) like Isaac for a boy, but DP hates it.

Egg · 18/09/2007 12:46

OK well I will post on here as can't decide which thread is looking like the strongest...

Good news finally got my scan date through for local hospital so no longer need to go to London! Woohoo. They have given me a lot of notice! Miniandme we are now almost exactly the same, mine is at 2pm TOMORROW. Woohoo. So only one sleep left and not two.

Didn't get much sleep last night as DS not well (cough and cold and conjunctivitis it seems) so am about to put my feet up for a mo while he (fingers crossed) has his nap.

Anyone heard from pobletsmum? I have been worrying about her. I hope she is ok.

Fingers crossed to everyone with the higher risk of Downs. I was thinking about it last night and agree with Hungrymama though, the risk of miscarriage from amnio / CVS is higher than the risk of Downs, so maybe worth waiting the extra couple of weeks until the anomoly scan? I know it is easy for me to say.

Egg · 18/09/2007 12:48

Bessie I also like Isaac. It will go well with DS's name (Benjamin). Have always had Jacob in mind, and read in my baby book yesterday that he was the evil younger twin in the bible! So if we have a boy and he comes out second, it could be very apt (although don't want him to be evil obviously!!!!). Older twin was Esau, which I think is just a bit too biblical for me. Plus of course I might get two girls.

alkar · 18/09/2007 12:57

Bessie - Isaac is lovely, had Evie for a girl won't be using it this time though.

Egg - you sound really excited about your scan, glad its earlier than you expected.

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 12:58

Egg, Jacob was sneaky in the bible, but I think it's a lovely name. I like Joe as well, but unfortunately, that name is off limits because my mum's husband (who is v much disliked) is called james joseph.

I like the name Anna for a girl, but it is far to similar to Hannah, which we must have.

I once heard of a boy named Shem, after Noah's son in the bible - I suppose Ham and Japeth, who were the other 2 sons, are worse names but still, poor child.

Egg · 18/09/2007 13:01

I am indeed soooooooooooooooooooo excited.

Love the name Hannah, but our surname is H so I think it's a no-go. My friend has twins and her little girl is Hannah.

Ham, what a great name . I found Ebeneezer and Zebedee last night in my book. Eb and Zeb are maybe ok, but still. Ebeneezer just makes me think of that Shamen song from the 90s, and Zebedee of course is from Magic Roundabout.

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 13:10

In France, it's illegal to give your child a stupid name. There was a case in the Courts a couple of years ago about a couple who wanted to name their child the French version of Zebedee and the Court ruled that they were not legally able to do that because the name was too ridiculous and it would impact adversely on the child. In Court, the couple brought in witnesses who were called the French version of Zebedee to say things like 'I'm called Zebedee and it never did me any harm'.

Heh.

LadySanders · 18/09/2007 13:16

my dp has been telling me off for coming up with "names that aren't real names" and wants something traditional. so i say, what would you like to call him then, and he says.... DEXTER or VICTOR.... the mind boggles. i mean, really, a new born baby called victor??

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 13:22

Ha ha ha. That's v funny.

Egg · 18/09/2007 13:27

There are so many names that are fine for adults, but just WRONG for babies. LOL at the French Zebedee though! Actually is there a Zebediah? That sounds slightly better. I am only on N in the baby book (it is a looooong one) but never forget Zebedee from last time round!

Ooooh this time tomorrow I will be on my way to hospital!

LadySanders · 18/09/2007 13:32

i got a highly entertaining baby name book (has been no help at all but did make us laugh) which has lots of lists like "red-neck names", or "truck drivers names", or "couch potato names"... i seem to recall zebediah having featured...

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 13:35

What's a truck driver's name? Maybe Stan, or Clara (from Pigeon St)

Egg · 18/09/2007 13:40

I would think a truck driver would have to be something like Dave, or Phil, or Jim, or Mick... real man's names!

LadySanders · 18/09/2007 13:41

i can't remember off the top of my head - its an american book so it had a slightly different slant. will have a look when back at home rather than at work pretending to, err, work, while in fact idly twiddling on MN and looking at pushchairs on the internet...

Egg · 18/09/2007 13:43

Oooh oooh, what pushchairs are you looking at? I love pushchair browsing. Can't wait til after scan so I can start looking seriously. I have had three so far with DS (he is 19 months).

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 13:45

I have no idea what to get, so am just putting it in the "too difficult" basket for now. I had thought of getting the Maclaren XT because it is supposed to be the lightest but I looked at it the other week and it is still v heavy.

Egg · 18/09/2007 13:48

Maclaren XT is nice, and probably a lot lighter than many out there (certainly than my huuuuuuge Slalom Pro I started with, which was fabulous and lovely to push but v heavy), but I don't think XT looks all that comfy for a newborn.
