Bessie123 · 10/11/2007 19:56

Measured my fundal height today and I am 26cm. 27 weeks on Monday, so that must be about right. Are you lot all measuring inches round your waists? That sounds a bit much; I think I'll give it a miss.

Have been off sick for a few days; feeling v poorly and a bit sorry for myself, so all sympathy welcome.

beansprout · 11/11/2007 09:04

I must admit that I had a bit of a shock when I first read the measurements!! I mistook 40" for a fundal height!!

MERLYPUSS · 11/11/2007 10:39

Bessie - There, there. How's that ? ;-) It is pant when you feel poop.
I measure round my belly button for my bump size. Dunno if that helps.

gingermumi · 11/11/2007 14:52

Aww bessie, put your feet up and take it easy hun. Hope you feel better soon. I guess we're all going start slowing down now and finding it harder and harder (as if it hasn't been so far!!)

Am measuring round belly button too. Fundal height exactly right for dates

manamana · 11/11/2007 21:41

Bessie - sending you lots of sympathy. I feel so crap this time round I want to seek out fellow preggers people and hug them all.... hmmm, hormones going mental again. Thought I'd post the list again and add some info to mine as haven't in ages.

lailasmum · 12/11/2007 08:22

Hello Everyone,
I measured my bump. I am 26 weeks I measured my bump and its about 35" around the belly button but my baby is quite low so I am actually about 37" lower down. My fundal height is about 25cm. Am still knackered and getting to feeling awkward and can't eat big meals and stuff much earlier than I did last time (or maybe I have just forgotten. Spent yesterday pm gardening and felt knackered after about half an hour. Must admit I am rather looking forward to the birth- is that wierd?

lljkk · 12/11/2007 10:37

Measure bump around the fattest bit -- is that not easy to find? I don't know how to measure fundal height accurately, always thought you needed training to do that reliably.

I partly asked because I get loads of comments about how small my bump is, to the point that I think some people are convinced it's not growing right -- I'm getting the impression that they think I'm too active still riding a bike and otherwise getting some aerobic exercise. Yet I was this same size in previous (healthy) pregnancies, so their comments are rather getting on my nerves .

Egg · 12/11/2007 10:40

God I can't wait for the birth... I obviously don't want them out yet, but do NOT want to reach 40 weeks.

I was so uncomfortable yesterday afternoon I assumed the all fours position. I just felt ridiculously full of babies. Feel better today but not great.

Did get a lovely new coat in M&S, it is fitted, but I got a size 14 and am normally about a 10 so hope it will see me through the winter. The 12 did fit, but don't think it would have still fit by Christmas... gutted though as want to keep on wearing it as it is so nice, but unless I retain a lot of fat after giving birth it will be way too big, so might try to sell it.

How is everyone else today?

Egg · 12/11/2007 10:42

lljkk I get comments like that all the time, it worried me last time that DS was going to be very underweight, but this time I just tell them I was never huge last time but produced a 7lbs 8oz baby, so completely average. If you are still able to cycle and don't feel uncomfortable then it is good, far better than some of us who don't do anything. I do feel bad about it as was so active last time but I just can't FACE trying to do anything other than a slow walk.

lailasmum · 12/11/2007 11:28

Fundal height is pretty easy to measure but it probably makes a diffrence how aware you are of your own anatomy. Like last time i wouldn't have been able to find the appropriate bits to measure but I am a lot slimmer this time round so can feel everything more easily.

Lucyand2 · 12/11/2007 12:40

Just got back from playgroup where there are women in various stages of pregnancy and I was even larger than the 35 weeks pregnant person! She seemed shocked when I told her my due date so I feel larger than ever!
I keep telling myself it is because I'm small and it's my second one.
It is making me very uncomfy at night though, looking forward to my new mattress.

gingermumi · 12/11/2007 12:42

MW measured my fundal height.. i get the opposite comments...was in TK max this morning and somebody said 'ooh. look at that poor lady, not long to go eh?', i've been having that for months! AND my gran keeps asking my mum if there's something wrong with me because i'm so big. It seemed to start with the insinuation that i'm having twins and haven't told anyone, then she kept asking if i'd been to antenatal and was i eating for two! It got quite upsettibg 'cos she kept taking my mother aside and asking her if the family should be worried. One of my parent's pets died and when they said to my gran about having sad news she thought it was me! It was starting to give me the creeps. Am ignoring her now! Not literally, but any comments about pregnancy!

rozzyraspberry · 12/11/2007 13:21

I was trying to keep active and had started swimming 3 times a week. However, I seem to have developed some sort of allergy to the chlorine in our local pool and spent days bunged up and sneezing and with sore eyes afterwards so have stopped.

I had a bit of a scare yesterday. Went to the loo and about a 5/10 pence sized bit of brown mucous came out. Kind of like show although obviously far too early for that. It really freaked me out although luckily felt baby move soon afterwards which was reassuring. I think I may have been overdoing it a little lately, working overtime and trying to get organised for xmas and baby whilst running around after 2 energetic boys, my mum has been telling me to slow down so I might just take her advice for a while. Baby was very active during the day yesterday and I had some quite painful movement so think that maybe he's turned over and that maybe caused it. Not sure but he's still very active so sure it's nothing to worry about.

Hope everyone else is ok.

widgetsmummy · 12/11/2007 16:53

rozzy - that does sound scary. did you call m/w or just feel reassured by LO moving around?

everyone keeps telling me I'm big (with 3 months to go) and it is hard not to feel upset about it at times. but widget gave us lots of movement over the weekend which was amazing and lots of fun so am trying to focus on that and all the wonderful things. makes me realise though, I'll never say that to a pregnant woman again!

on a silly note - burst into tears in Tesco yesterday as a poor little old lady fell down the travelator thing and hurt herself. I think she was more shocked than injured but I was in floods for her by the orange squash!

gingermumi · 12/11/2007 18:48

Rozzy - you should get that checked out - dd1 was born v early and it started with a show - don't want to worry you and it's probably nothing but i would just check it out with mw.

My mw rang today - am anaemic (yippee- iron tablets!) and have to have glucose load test - my cup over-floweth!

beansprout · 12/11/2007 19:01

Hope you are ok Rozzy, sounds like it is worth asking about?

I also get surprised looks when I say I still have 3 months to go but I think it is partly because people just don't know what a term pregnancy looks like. "Heavily pregnant" images in the media tend to show a 7 month or so bump. Apparently I was a freak of nature last time by the end , and yes, I did go to 43 weeks but even so....!!

tyaca · 12/11/2007 20:00

rozza - you sound like you need to slow down! i hope you get to cash in all those work brownie points for delaying maternity leave.

lljkk - i'm still small and have to "dress" pregnant to get a seat on the tube. i put it down to the fact i work on fourth floor, dodgy lifts so i walk it everytime. everyone thinks i'm nuts but i'd rather huff and puff my way up than end up trapped in left desperatley needing a wee (which i would after, say three minutes!)

haved changed hopsital from st st georges to st thomas' here in south london. first appointment at st thomas' is tomo. am feeling v positive about switch as i have one apptmnt at 11am, and a midwife rang to say she'd seen i'd swapped, and would it be convenient if i saw her at 10am? good stuff!

have decided pregnancy has made me a sanctiminous (i KNOW i spelt that wrong, too many vowels) t**t. get v humphy at everyone on my commute, and today in sainsbury's my bag split and i had to pick everything up with a couple of assistants just standing there chatting and i got SOO annoyed. i think i've got this warped sense of entitlement that only gets worse as the weeks go by...

just a small thing... is anyone else's DP/DH's missing out on the feeling of kicks and bumps? my donk is medium active, but never do the DH, and when she does move with his hand there, he cant feel her

Egg · 12/11/2007 20:16

Tyaca I think it is quite common that when other people try to feel the kicks the baby stops! I remember DH only really felt DS as DS constantly had hiccups and so couldn't stop moving if he tried... He went on to have hiccups constantly for the first year of his life poor lad.

Rozzy, I would definitely get checked out as well. Obviously baby is fine and still moving nicely, but it's best to be certain and you definitely don't want to go into labour just yet.

Beany - 43 weeks!?!?!? Bloody hell. You must have been very fed up? Or were you just thinking positively that it was extra time to sleep / rest / etc before the whirlwind of a newborn arrived????

Forgot to say, my glucose tolerance test which was supposed to be today was cancelled last week as I had done three unrine samples since and none had any sugar in and thankfully they decided it was a waste of time. I would have ended up probably leaving DS at nursery all day as would not have got back to pick him up in time, and considering he threw up everywhere this afternoon I think nursery are probably quite glad too. Means no nursery all week, looks like a lot of cbeebies for me and DS this week.

He is sleeping in his proper bed tonight for the first time, he managed it successfully at lunch, but nighttime is an entirely different thing. Am nervous! Hope he doesn't throw up in his new bed!

beansprout · 12/11/2007 20:21

"Sense of entitlement" is a good way of putting it. I get on the train every morning defying every last bastard in the carriage to offer me a seat. No-one does of course!!

Egg - Was utterly fed up by the end. Was sooo pregnant and people who were due way after me were already holding their babies! By that stage I just wanted the baby out!! I had been anxious about the birht but nature's clever, innit?!

rozzyraspberry · 12/11/2007 20:35

Thanks for everyones kind words - I'm ok - was just a bit of a fright!!

I've told DH I won't be doing any housework until after babys born and although I was at work all day I was sitting down so will definitely be taking it very easily from now on. Am constantly knicker checking again and if there's anything else I will definitely get checked out. But baby is still moving around lots and I've had 2 full term pregnancies so not at risk for premature delivery. I have my 28 appointment next Monday and will mention it then.

Take care everyone

KikiH · 12/11/2007 22:33

Feel the same about the train journeys - only a short commute but standing up makes me feel v sick. Most days someone will offer me a seat, but sometimes have to take my coat of and act v pregnant to guilt someone into standing up! Feel a bit like a bad hammy actress sometimes

Had midwife app today and baby is breech but that is apparently not unusual at this stage. Felt like it was trying to turn around this afternoon though when I was trying to nap - so so uncomfortable, it felt like it was going to break something in there!!

sarahmikeandharry · 13/11/2007 08:28

Good morning all-

Just a quick update for you all went to see consultant yesterday- i have a perfectly healthy pregnancy

  • Glucose levels are normal,
  • iron level 13- very high and good apparently
-BP normal i am doing and feeling FAB

Baby growing very will she weighs approximately 2lb 8oz already!!!OMG!!! DS was only 5-lb 8 at birth!!! hense why they wanted to keep an eye on me.!!!!

Do not have to see consultant again unless i have any problems, so can push for a home birth yipee!!!!!

Hope everyone is ok.

Sarah and growing family!!!lol

gingermumi · 13/11/2007 09:45

Thats really cool sarah!

Egg · 13/11/2007 11:24

Ah that's great Sarah, must be nice to know this one is growing on target and you wont have to worry about a low birth weight baby .

DS still poorly here, just very lethargic, very clingy, but he slept all night in his bed and didn't try to get out. He did cry at 5am but think that was because he felt unwell not because of his new bed. He is back in bed already tho . I think I might do the same.

rozzyraspberry · 13/11/2007 12:34

Egg I sympathise - my 2 are also throwing up and off nursery/playgroup today. They both had a really bad sickness/diarrhoea bug a few weeks ago and I can't believe they've got another bug already! Just phoned DH and he said they're both sleeping - they don't usually have a nap in the day anymore.

Hopefully all these bugs will be gone for Christmas!
