Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sarahmikeandharry · 05/11/2007 14:18

Hi everyone,

Not posted for a while, So thought id just remind myself how to do it!!!!

Been to hospital today for glucose test, was starving!!!! had to fast for 14 hours so ate massive lunch yestersay and then didn't want anything for supper!!!!

The plebotomist could not get any blood so i have been stabbed loads!!!! i have massive bruise already!!!

The 2 hour wait between blood being taken wasn't too bad i took a good book and ignored everyone else!!!!lol

Back in next monday for 28 week scan and to see consultant about the results and get anti d!!!

i am so bogged down with appointments!!!!!

Hope everyone is ok, not too uncomfortable yet!!!

Egg · 05/11/2007 14:20

Argh, "you only get one chance". I would definitely go for it, but DH says no. Waaaaah. I could do it in secret, but no point in not being able to share the experience .

Bessie123 · 05/11/2007 14:24

I'm sorry, I was just explaining why we decided to go for it.

Maybe you should keep working on your dh, egg, see if he will change his mind..?

Also, this is our first, so everything is new and we want to do it all.

Egg · 05/11/2007 14:27

Hello sarah m&h, I have the glucose test next Monday. Am not looking forward to it. Am planning big feast on the Sunday night. Will be taking a lot of crappy mags to pass the time, I can never concentrate on books when in waiting rooms for some reason.

sarahmikeandharry · 05/11/2007 14:31

Hi Egg,

i wans't that bad the drink is orange flavour and very sweet, but whole experience was ok!!!

Definatly nothing to worry about,

I am dreading the result thou, my mom is a diabetic so i am high risk!!!!

Also want a home birth so it will make consultant have more concerns!!!!

we will see!!!

Egg · 05/11/2007 14:38

How long do you wait until results? I am mainly worried about getting out of hospital in time to collect DS from nursery. Appt is at 8:45 but have been told I will be there at least three hours. Need to get DS by 1pm latest. Hospital about 15 mins from nursery. They can keep him there longer, and he would sleep there, but I would rather he doesn't have to. Will take his sleeping bag and Blankie in the morning just in case though.

Did you eat a lot after the appt was over?

sarahmikeandharry · 05/11/2007 14:43

i had to wait for 2 hours,

They took blood at 9.20 then had to wait for 2 hours returned at 11.20 took more blood, then was free to go home, went to shop to buy food first tho!!! lol

i will get my results next monday from consultant,

Bessie123 · 05/11/2007 14:52

I had to wait for 3 hours when I had my test. Results were back within a few days, but they lost my sample, so I have to go back and do it again.

violeta · 05/11/2007 15:12

I had a glucose test with all the other bloods at 12 weeks - did you all have it then as well and then this is just a repeat check?
Just wondering whether I'm likely to have this joy to come... [eek, fasting...]

Bessie123 · 05/11/2007 15:13

Violeta, it is a glucose tolerance test. You will probably only have one if you are at increased risk of developing gestational diabetes.

violeta · 05/11/2007 15:25

Thanks Bessie. I think what I had early on was just a test for ordinary diabetes. I don't think I should have to have this one, but we shall see...!

Tallulah1978 · 05/11/2007 15:45

Hi All, didn't post last week as was knocked off my feet with nastly cold and put to bed from Saturday til this Saturday. Have been feeling really fed up and crying over not very much. ME and DP has a silly silly row on Fri night and Sat AM - got myself in a right old state and ended up with a nose bleed! It was all ever so silly and poitnless.

Back at work today and missing my afternoon sleeps. My baby changing bag was delivered last week whilst I was off and had been opened and was sat on my desk in full view in open plan office so was little embarrassed this morning.

Had a funny turn last night - went out for evening walk with DP and doggies and complained during walk that I had v. itchy nipples and was giving them a good rub the whole time. When we got in, I noticed my palms were bright red and they became very itchy too. I suddenly started itchy intensely all over (not just bellybump itch) and this carried for about an hour. DP looked at me and send 'crikey, look in the mirror' My face had developed strange drak red goatee like rash around nose and mouth and my lips and swollen up and gone numb! This all passed in asbout an hour and have been fine last night and today but will defnitely mention it to midwife tomorrow afternoon when I go and see her cos I understand it can all signify not good things. Hope it's just an allergic reaction, although to what, I don't know! Anyone else looked like they've had botox for no apparent reason?

gingermumi · 05/11/2007 16:12

Mmm... Tallulah,,, sounds odd to me - were you very cold perhaps? Would definitely mention to mw when you see her, itching can be a sign of liver probs.

Had 28 week check with mw today, all looking fine, had bloods done and anti-d (which stung like mad!). Am hoping i don't have to have glucose test, i had gest. diabetes last time, my dad's diabetic and have had some wee tests which showed sugar, so not holding out much hope!

Am envious of 4d scans but i get loads of extra scans 'cos of fibroid so it would just be greedy really.

Have a good evening, enjoy the fireworks!

Bessie123 · 05/11/2007 16:34

Talulah - it's possible your body has developed an allergy to the hormones you produce when you exercise. It's not massively common but a few people do have this.

tyaca · 05/11/2007 17:07

oh, tallulah, that sounds horrid and a bit scary. my nips are perma-ithcy, as i haven't got round to buying a comfy cotton bra yet, i have to make the choice each evening about whether to go for itchy discomfort or heavy unsupported discomfort and just take bra off.

found a US ebay store selling maternity ranges of my fave jeans so have finally caved in and bought my first maternity clothes. was feeling a bit tight about spending the money, but as DH pointed out, hopefully i'll be PG again at some point!!

my preg concerns are always so trivial! ho hum....

Tallulah1978 · 05/11/2007 17:16

Tyaca - It's funny you say about pregnancy concerns being trivial - all mine had been up until last night - you know the silly things. Last night when this happened and I started reading about what it could be, and that it can lead to early delivery as early as 26 weeks (!) it brought it home to me and I felt really daft for the silly niggles I've had in previous weeks. Will let you know what midwife says on Wednesday. Fingers crossed for a random allergy. x

Egg · 05/11/2007 19:50

Bloody hell Tallulah! Sounds really scary. Glad it has gone again. The cholestasis (liver function thing) can be quite dangerous. Found an old thread here that might be helpful (have not read it all yet). If I remember correctly though from my book I don't think you get a rash with the cholestasis, and also don't think it comes and goes like that, but still worth making sure .

DS been a lovely boy this afternoon (and was apparently a lovely boy at nursery [proud emoticon], so I am happy, and a bit rested today.

KikiH · 05/11/2007 21:09

That does sound really scary Tallulah. I keep being really itchy, but am generally a v itchy person and it is not on my hands and feet so not too worried. Good that you are seeing the mw tomorrow though. Hope all is ok.

LO is really active at the moment and seems to really enjoy kicking my bladder when it is a bit full - it must be encroaching on it's space a bit

Is anyone else's LO dancing the fandago on what feels like their cervix? Most uncomfortable, like poking yourself in the belly button a bit hard!

Good luck to all the glucose tests, really hope I don't have to have one - am really really bad on no food.

leesmum · 05/11/2007 22:10

Hi KikiH, yes im having lots of movement at the moment and am soooo sick of going to the loo for a trickle!!

Am loving alternative words for fanny by the way god how bored am i?

Tallulah lets just hope your rash is some wierd pregnancy thing and nothing too worrying, i know your skin can be 100 times more sensitive when you are pregnant, can't be nice though. xx

gingermumi · 06/11/2007 10:56

Mornin ladies.

Feeling absolutley crap today, had worst nights sleep...restless legs (have tried exercises, fan, cool pack, mineral suppliments), itching, pain from fibroid...weeing and weeing... ended up sitting on bed balling my eyes out . hope no-one upsets me today am soooooooo ratty i might not be very nice! Didn't mean on mumsnet, meant dh, kids, pets, granny etc etc!

Soz to moan on just had to get it out of my system

Tallulah1978 · 06/11/2007 12:38

Are we allowed to eat Corned Beef while preggers? Sat stuffing my face with a corned beef and beetroot sandwhich and suddenly had a thought that we're not meant to eat it?

Bessie123 · 06/11/2007 12:43

Urgh, corned beef and beetroot would be my nightmare meal.

I think you are not allowed to eat it whilst pregnant. I don't know if it is safe or not, but it is DEFINITELY disgusting.

tyaca · 06/11/2007 12:44

moan away ginger... better vented here than taken out on pets or relatives

my SIL sent us our first baby rearing book, which arrived yesterday. It's called The Baby Whisperer. Anyone else heard of it? I think it was a preemptive measure on her part - she'd heard me muttering about buying Gina Ford book....

cheers

widgetsmummy · 06/11/2007 12:46

hey gingermumi sorry you are feeling so rough. hope you get a better nights sleep tonight. a good cry does seem to help.

have been feeling a little miserable myself, not wanting to talk to people, just stay home with DH. not sure what's going on there... Lo is fine though, kicking away which cheers me up have started the they kick, I push the place, they kick again game. DH thinks this is amazing!

painted nursey over the weekend - classic flavour not known yellow. makes the whole landing glow when the sun shines in there in the morning! feels good to have it done though, and the cot is up so its all a bit real! still seems so long to wait though.

am rambling... hope everyone's tests go ok and we all have smiley weeks.

me and widget

Bessie123 · 06/11/2007 12:47

Oh, I've heard of the baby whisperer book. My friend (a psychologist) says it's good.
