gingermumi · 01/11/2007 19:04

Am going with the cold bump look i think! I have a big fleece which i can still get on and a blanket-like wrap thing which is quite useful as it has no button etc anyway.

Said i would deck the next person who said 'not long to go now?' as EDD seems such a long way away but as it was a little old lady it's a good job dh was there to stop me! The raised eyebrows look is wearing a bit thin so i just say after christmas now, and as it's november i guess that doesn't seem so bad. I do get asked if i'm carrying twins quite often. I tried to put a pickie on but it wouldn't upload. I think i'll adpot the pregnant and proud motto too!

gingermumi · 01/11/2007 19:05

that should be 'adopt'!

rozzyraspberry · 01/11/2007 19:16

I got a couple of long cardigans from verbaudet at the start of my pregnancy which I really like. They just button at the top. Probably not enough for the coldest of winter but I got a mans fleece in primark for £6 - not the trendiest but with only 3 months to go now (Eek!!) I think it'll do. I did see a nice swing coat in Primark at the weekend for £25 but might just make do with what I've got and spend the money on the boys.

I've sorted my maternity leave out now - I finish on 18th Jan and then have 3 weeks holidays before starting maternity leave the day before my due date! So taking into account a week off at Christmas have 10 weeks left to work - hurrah!!

manamana · 02/11/2007 12:27

Hi all. Think I'm going for stealin dh's coats and my big fleece, my spd means won't be out much and so am giving up on trying to find a stylish solution. Was pg with ds over lovely long hot summer of 05 which was much easier - you need far fewer clothes over summer! Had a bit of an emotional day yesterday, was in tears at my midwife appt who sent me straight to dr to discuss pain options for spd and possibility of going back onto ADs. Managed to persuade GP, through more tears, that ADs not answer and that am just knackered and fed up with pain/not being able to move. So have been signed off work until 12th and been told that should be taking paracetamol regularly to get on top of pain. Bit concerned about necking 8 paracetamol a day but she assured me that will have no affect on baby. So, went back to bed after dropping ds at nursery this morning and am now sitting watching tv in my PJs - luverly. Got to do a bit of work over the week but think I will feel much better by the time I go back. Will mean much more time on here too take care all

leesmum · 02/11/2007 13:15

hi everyone

i've managed to resist the urge to spend any money yet on a winter coat, i have been wearing a lovely cream fleecy thing from next that i bought a couple of months ago, i got a size 12 and can just about fasten it upits just as well the weather has been really mild, i've got 2 washloads out today(sad, sad cow)

I am finishing work on the 15th dec(wow only 6 weeks on sat to go!!)and i was at midwife this morning for 28 week check, she was really nice, i see a different one everytime and she warned me about going into labour early again and that i must ring delivery suite if i get any bad aches or i think my waters are going!!! i'm actually getting a bit worried now and i'm going to have to start getting things together for my hospital bag!! and as nice as she was i dont know how many times she's took blood cos it took her 3 goes to get any and she's made a right bleedin' mess of my arm.(right thats my whinge over for today lol)

Manamana hope the paracetamol does the trick, it can't be any fun having spd and your doctor trying to put you on AD's. Good for you for trying to keep off them, but dont struggle and they are there for a reason. take care xx

Gill79 · 02/11/2007 14:17

hello, had a busy few days at work and just completed on our first house! hooray. Bump has been very busy too, wriggling away.
Been browsing some of the profiles over lunchtime - Egg your little boy v cute! To go back a bit re the midwife Egg - yes english was clearly not her first language - but that's quite a rarity amongst NHS staff round my way (one GP didn't know what a gland was and I had to write out my prescription request for him to copy) but it was basically her attitude. She could have said a lot less and cared a lot more!

gingermumi · 02/11/2007 14:24

Mana - am taking paracetamol too, beacuse of fibroid, even have to take co-codamol (eek!) at times but gp stressed both are safe. I tried not taking them but sometimes i just have to. GP practically insisted i take them so i can get some sleep. It is a worry but i guess they know what they're doing .

gingermumi · 02/11/2007 14:25

Congrats gill - really exciting time, don't do any lifting when you move though!

tyaca · 02/11/2007 16:30

congrats gill! so nice to be able to nest at a time like this. we are in our own smallish 2 bed second floor flat, would love to be somewhere more suitable for little ones, but never mind - there's always tonight's euromillions ....

i too am preoccupied with winter coats. found a wondeful grey wooly cardy type one in monsoon yesterday, buttons at top, lets bump peep out below but kind of looks deliberate with cut of coat. reckon it would do me post-pg too. couldnt get it off my mind yesterday, have to make a call between that winters boots.... (euro millions, euromillions......)

Jo9977 · 02/11/2007 16:37

Byeee! Off for a week to Lanzarote - final hol just the two of us

Have a fab week everyone and make sure there's loads of good news for me to come back to!

xx

saskia71 · 02/11/2007 17:07

I was in London yesterday for my routine fetal wellbeing scan. The new thing this time was a biophysical profile of the baby. All the measurements were within range, and profile score was very good. We saw lovely 3 and 4D images of the baby. The next scan is in 3 weeks, which seems like an eternity to wait. Are any of you having singletons and routine scans?
I had my first antenatal class. This was a one-to-one session and I hadn?t expected it to be so good. The midwife was lovely. Since I may be having an elective caesarean, this was the topic of our conversation. She went into great detail covering who will be doing what, when and what I will be wearing in all of this. The sexy stockings with pumps attached must be quite something!
I am wearing one of my coats from last year. It?s a swing design with a single button at the collar. It?s wonderfully warm and on colder days I just team up with fur lined gloves. Have a good weekend.

CountTo10 · 02/11/2007 21:32

Hi all.
Well wondered this week if perhaps my due dates were totally screwed up and i was actually due now, either that or currently harobouring satan!!!! My unborn has been performing acrobatic feats this week and I did think was going to make an early appearance!! So uncomfortable and quite a lot of pain - should imagine we're all in the same boat!! I just don't remember as much of this until the end with ds. Only comfortable position is laid down which is not practical!!!

Oooo for all you chocolate lovers out there at the mo, you have to try Galaxy Misteltoe - it's limited edition xmas choc bar, choc, mousse and caramel - hmmmmmmm yummy!!!

Hope we're all well and looking forward to the weekend

princessllama · 04/11/2007 19:41

slightly embarrassing but is anyone getting achey pains in their nether regions? can't remember it first time

samsmam · 04/11/2007 20:59

yeap, i never got them first time either. not sure what it is though. I thought it was where I was having children so close together.

Egg · 05/11/2007 13:12

Afternoon ladies. I have had those pains a bit too, but they never seem to last long. No idea what they are, but at least a few of us are having them, so it must be normal .

Hope everyone is ok. Only three more days til my scan. Very excited. Anyone else got anything exciting planned this week?

leesmum · 05/11/2007 13:26

Morning ladies

Yes i have also had fanny pains!!lol!!
Are'nt they horrid, at the midwife on fri i also told her about how i can feel a lot of heavy pressure downstairs too and she said that you can get more aches and pains with subsequent pregnancies as all your ligaments are more relaxed.

She also told me that baby was transverse lie and that he would probably shift before 34 weeks (hopefully)

Egg i havent got anything really exciting on this week but if anyone's interested i went to Matalan this morning with mum and bought baby some sleepsuits with foldover scratch mitts already on them. 3 for 7pound, v.usefull at bedtime for winter babies

Egg i'm very jealous that you get extra scans, i would love to see baby james again.

xxx

Egg · 05/11/2007 13:31

I got some sleepsuits at the weekend too! Oh, well I put them on my list, just plain white also with the fab turnover sleeve bits, much better than normal scratch mitts that come off all the time. I think mine were £12 for 5 from John Lewis. Saw a nice looking thick woolly cape thing from Matalan in a mag over the weekend, that might do to help keep me warm in winter. It is blooming freezing today.

Leesmum, I can always rely on you to make me smile. There is no "beating about the bush", here we are saying nether regions etc and you say fanny pains. LOL.

Forgot to mention, I had a midwife come and see me on Friday as I had such a bad headache on Thursday and Friday, plus felt dizy and a bit sick, and when I phoned she wanted to check my bp and wee. Anyway, all was well, and I think my headaches are due to eating waaaaaaaay too much sugary food. Must cut down. Must cut down...

Bessie123 · 05/11/2007 13:44

Just had my 4D scan. Baby was being very naughty and kept putting her hands over her face but got some good pics.

leesmum · 05/11/2007 13:54

Bessie123 it must have been lovely to see your daughter in 4D. Have you decided on a name for her yet?

Egg, it is funny isn't it how we women have to put up with all sorts, smears, pregnancy and just generally being messed about with, and we sill say "down there" in hushed tones.

I say more Fanjo talk is needed

Egg · 05/11/2007 13:57

PMSL .

mutha2beagain · 05/11/2007 14:01

Hi everyone,

Have not posted for absolutely ages although have been checking in a bit .... seem to have gone into cruise control mode ... looking at the bump getting bigger and bigger and thinking whoa, this thing's gonna be out in 3 months and I've got absolutely nothing ready at all... Still hoping to stop work by the end of the month - still trying to recruit my replacement - so I'll get Xmas despatched and then concentrate on some full on nesting.

Have been having loads and loads of squirms and movement - can't remember it being as uncomfortable the last time round with some of the wriggles and kicks stopping me dead in my tracks.

Have bought a few nice bits and pieces to wear from Seraphine and a couple of very stretchy tops but am living in the Zara maternity jeans even though I have to keep hoicking them up every 10 mins.

Had a good laugh with Halloween last week - sent ds off trick or treating with another mum while I got a party tea together for some very over excited 6 year olds - all the food was either orange or green and I have to confess it was yours truly who ended up eating most of it. Have sat on sofa for a large part of the weekend resting a tin of quality street on bump eating what should have been trick or treat loot. So much for the 5 a day regime. Also have started napping during the day where possible. I think this is a good habit to cultivate to try and catch up on the broken nights.

Have also had some lovely 4d pics of new baby, who looks the spit of its father so I'm pretty sure it's another boy.

Hope you are all blooming marvellous and happy guy fawkes.

Bessie123 · 05/11/2007 14:01

Yes, it's a miracle, we managed to agree on a name quite early on, so all set now. And it's no big surprise that dp and I are having a 'difficult' baby, going by our personalities.

I'm posting from work so if it's ok with you will abstain from the fanjita talk...

Bessie123 · 05/11/2007 14:03

I love my zara maternity jeans, too; they are so good, and zara seems to be the only shop that doesn't assume your legs are suddenly going to grow as much as your tummy

Egg · 05/11/2007 14:03

Wish we could change font size on here and type FANJO in massive red letters so all those at work can sit there like this .

I WANT A 4D SCAN.

Can't justify cost, esp as getting more scans anyway. Would love to see them in 4D though.

Bessie123 · 05/11/2007 14:10

Hmmm, not sure about that big red letters thing.

We couldn't justify the cost of a 4D scan either, but we wanted one and thought it would be nice for baby to have when she's older. You only get one chance for things like that. It was about £170 so not cheap, but I'm glad we did it.
