OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LadySanders · 18/09/2007 13:48

3 already! i am somewhat flummoxed because my ds is 6 (big age gap...) and 6 years ago basically you could either have a big heavy expensive mamas and papas or a light cheap and cheerful graco. i got a graco, it was great, cost about £1.35, lasted 4 years, but looked bit tatty. now there's so much choice, i definitely still want a light one (by which i mean 8kgs max) but don't mind spending a bit more to get somethign that looks nice too. loving the jane nomad pro at moment, BUT it only comes in very bright colours which i really don't like... i also have a total prejudice against 2 handled buggies, i like the ones with a single handle so you can hold baby with one hand and push with the other if necessary.

Egg · 18/09/2007 13:51

I have a Zapp at the mo which I love for many things but it is crap for shopping as no basket and can't hang much on handles without tipping risk. It is BRIGHT orange (see my profile) so you would hate it!

I do think Jane are very good brand.

Aherm, £1.35 for your last pram? £135 perchance?

LadySanders · 18/09/2007 13:53

ok maybe not 1.35, but i think it was less than £100 which by today's standards looks pretty flippin reasonable! actually i love the colour orange, but, not to be too vain, i think it will clash with nearly everything i wear. i think of my buggy as needing to go with my handbag. although praps in the intervening 6 years i've forgotten that i won't be using a handbag, i'll be taking a huge padded insulated nappy bag full of toys and wipes and treats....

Egg · 18/09/2007 13:55

Right have been over to entice ladies from other Feb thread across, and am pasting stats list here so new member BristolRabbit can add her details in (in fact LadySanders dont think you are on either, but I might be just blind...).

You two keep looking and let me know if you find a pram/pushchair I will like. I want a v light one with a basket.

Egg · 18/09/2007 13:57

oh and yes, agree about clashing. I had a fair few pink tops which I couldn't wear with orange Zapp. Plus DS has a couple of red things that don't look great with it. Luckily am in maternity wardrobe now and nothing is pink so I am ok, just DS that clashes now!

Bugger, forgot to change channels after Loose Women and now have missed most of neighbours . Or perhaps that should be for the fact that I even care!

Egg · 18/09/2007 13:59

What about a Micralite Bessie?

Egg · 18/09/2007 14:01

Oh just seen that it is not suitable from birth unless you use carrycot. Tis v light though (6.8kg).

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 14:02

Egg, I am completely ignorant as to all these different types of buggy. I can look at them for a while and then as soon as I turn away, details are wiped from my memory. I have buggy amnesia. I will look up microlite.

LadySanders · 18/09/2007 14:07

also don't you find that otherwise mild mannered people suddenly come over all political about their buggies? one of my friends keeps sternly telling me to get a bugaboo - i'm a bit frightened to tell her i don't much like the look of them and don't want to spend that much, though i am delighted for her that she's so pleased with it

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 14:07

Oh, you see how ignorant I am? Microlite is a type of hangglider. That doesn't sound very good for baby.

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 14:07

I saw one designed by Lulu Guinness last year. Maybe that would be good...

Egg · 18/09/2007 14:09

They are quite "trendy" and v light. Always think they look a bit small for toddler but I think anyone that has one likes them. I love looking at prams / pushchairs etc. Could do it all day...

Egg · 18/09/2007 14:11

LOL at hanglider!

I found this Lulu Guinness one. Not my cup of tea...

LadySanders · 18/09/2007 14:18

www.whizzywheels.co.uk/jane_nomad_pro__m617

expert opinion on this then please, oh buggy guru?!

its light, has basket, has the 1 handle... but the colour!!! AARRRRGGHHH!

Jo9977 · 18/09/2007 14:39

Don't mention prams and pushchairs and DON'T go shopping for them with MIL!!!!

What I'd ideally like is someone to tell me exactly what to buy with no choices...anyone know of such a person????

LadySanders · 18/09/2007 14:53

talking of MILs, my ex-MIL just offered to buy my son a rabbit to keep at MY house. how kind of her. so she gets all the kudos of being lovely granny and buying the rabbit, and the fun of going out to choose one, and i get to clean out its hutch whilst heavily pregnant in the middle of winter, and deal with the fallout when the urban foxes get peckish and decide to eat it. but now i am BAD mummy for saying no. how did that happen? is there some sort of training manual?

miniandme · 18/09/2007 15:36

Egg we have picked the urban detour 3 wheeler from mothercare, have it just cant wait for the babies to put in it now hehe!
We looked at loads and that one was our fav, none of them will go through our dorrs at home so we just went for the one we liked best !!

Cant belive your scan has been moved and we are at almost the same time, how exciting,!! how much sleep do you reckon on getting tonight with the excitement?? I cant see us having much like!

OP posts:
Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 15:49

Egg, thankyou. I want that lulu guinness one. I have emailed the link to dp for an opinion (well, I say 'opinion', I mean 'agreement' - he may not get much choice)

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 15:53

heh, the lulu guinness pushchair will match my handbag.

Egg · 18/09/2007 16:12

Bessie are you having a girl (sorry can't remember). It is not very, shall we say, masculine...

Mini I didn't realise there was a twin of urban detour .

Lady S, that is a baaaaaaad thing for your MIL to do. We had a guinea pig when I was younger, it is a lot of hassle. And they smell if kept indoors in cold weather.

Egg · 18/09/2007 16:12

OMG, just seen it is an ex-MIL, even worse. Am presuming she is DS's grandmother but still. The nerve...

Bessie123 · 18/09/2007 16:14

Egg - I find out next week, but I think it is a boy. He will just have to get in touch with his feminine side.

Egg · 18/09/2007 16:15

Oooooooh that urban detour DOES look lovely. But I still want one which will either take car seats / carrycots I can detach. Not heavy either, for a double.
