Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
gingermumi · 29/09/2007 15:34

It's the same here for tests, you only get contacted if there is anything wrong. I got a letter within days to say that i'm rhesus neg (which I knew anyway) and that i'd need anti-d. Apart from that the philosophy is the same - no news is good news. It's not very helpful though, you can't help worrying when you're pregnant and I always think what if they lost the sample or results? I'd rather know what's going on but i guess it's all part of nhs money saving ideas.

93pjb · 29/09/2007 18:20

hello, can i join? Expecting my first on 19th Feb. Still don't quite believe it - no real bump and can't feel the kicks but have had heard the heart so all is okay. Scan is on 8th Oct - it will be a big relief to see lo again.

princessllama · 29/09/2007 21:01

hi 93, am having my scan on the 8th too, can't wait so can breathe a sigh of relief. just 8 days to go!

SallyInYorkshire · 29/09/2007 22:29

my anomaly scan is on tues!!! wish me luck!!!

KikiH · 30/09/2007 11:06

I've got my scan on the 11th, really can't wait for it. I know it is stupid but I permenantly think that something must be wrong and it is such a releif having the scans and seeing all is ok. I think it is because I got pg so quickly I am convinced I have been too lucky.

God pregnancy makes you weird!

nikki7984 · 30/09/2007 14:03

Hello, Can I join I am due Feb 26th 2008 and i am 27 and its my first pg., and v exited! thanks x

SallyInYorkshire · 30/09/2007 15:58

KikiH I feel the same.....and thats whats so great about the anomaly scan because they examine all the different parts of the baby so carefully. - and for the vast majority of people everything's fine and it really helps you relax and enjoy your pregnancy (this is what I'm told by my midwife anyway!)

AKKW · 30/09/2007 16:57

Hi, It really does move on here! Thanks for the welcoming.
And I say welcome the new ones since.
Lots of good news, regarding scans! Cannot wait for mine tomorrow morning, 21 weeks, dying to find out what sex. What ever it is, it's very lively, a break dancer . Great for DP to feel the kicks.
Started Ante Natal Yoga last week. Very good, relaxing, great movements to prepare the body for the day. Highly recommended.
Ciao!

AKKW · 30/09/2007 17:00

And good luck to all other scans this week!!

KikiH · 30/09/2007 18:01

Thanks for the reassurance SallyInYorkshire. Nice to know I'm not insane

Welcome to nikki7984 and good luck with the scan tomorrow AKKW

Jo9977 · 01/10/2007 10:17

Welcome to new ones!

Glad to hear all the good news re scans and all the best for the scans this week - fab!!

It's my 40th today! I can't believe it, it's only just sinking in now - ouch!!! But DH made it very special weekend for me - had lunch at the Ritz!!!!

I have so much admiration for you ladies living in London - I could never cope...two days was enough - phew!

violeta · 01/10/2007 11:39

Happy birthday Jo! Glad you had a good weekend. Are you doing anything special today as well?

I know what you mean about London. The key is to get away from here as much as possible at weekends but the strange thing is that you get used to it as well. I'm really not a city girl though and I know it's certainly not for ever.

Welcome to all those you've joined over the past few days. Copy and paste in all your details on the list if you fancy.

Good luck to all those you've got scans this week. I've got my proper scheduled anomaly scan next Tues (had the extra one at 17 weeks cos of blood test results). I'm looking forward to it and have asked my mum to come too. She absolutely beamed when I asked her, which was lovely.

Went shopping for baby stuff for the first time over the weekend too. It made everything so real. My god, I'm having a baby in February!!

Gill79 · 01/10/2007 13:22

Happy Birthday Jo! I live in London and getting to work is absolutely horrible. But if you don't leave your "village" and are lucky enough to have plenty of green space around it can be ok. Really looking forward to giving up the commute!

rozzyraspberry · 01/10/2007 14:48

Happy birthday Jo - you can't get depressed about birthdays when you have so much to look forward to in the new year!!

I feel 10 years older today - I had a wedding on saturday which was great but tiring as late home and then was up during the night with ds1 who's a bit poorly - absolutely shattered now. Never mind early night tonight!

Good luck with all the scans this week!

beansprout · 01/10/2007 16:08

Happy Birthday Jo!! And good luck to everyone having a scan this week.

Ok here, pretty shattered though. Dh working away again and he was away on Saturday too (at short notice, dsd needed him) so, combined with still not sleeping too well, I am really starting to flag!

Dsd is not sure if she wants to be at uni or not, but if she drops out, she will come and stay with us. This is tricky as we only have a 2 bedroom flat and so she will need to occupy the (one and only) living room. We only have one room that isn't a bedroom/kitchen/bathroom so things are pretty tight. Really not sure how this would square with a newborn and a toddler too. Am trying not to worry about it, but I'm getting a bit stressed!! Eek!!

Can we talk about chocolate instead?!

Amy78 · 01/10/2007 19:39

Happy birthday Jo.
Can't believe that it's October already!! Doesn't time fly?
Hope everyone is well.

Hungrymama · 01/10/2007 20:01

Hello everyone! I keep leaving it too long between posts and then get completely overwhelmed trying to catch up with all that's been posted since I was last on. I think I'll settle for Happy Birthday Jo and leave it at that!!!!

Can I ask - has anyone else experienced side or chest pains???? I've been getting them on and off all day today and am not sure how seriously to take them. Am planning an early night tonight in the hope that a big sleep/rest will help.

I did have a busy weekend, like you RozzyR I went to a wedding - lots of travel there and back so still recovering! Well worth it though!

gingermumi · 01/10/2007 20:31

Welcome to newbies and good luck to all with scans.

Happy birthday Jo, hope you've had a good day.

Not sure about pains hungrymama, could be a ligment stretching, i would ask doc or mw if it doesn't go soon.

Beansprout- sounds like a tricky one to me, my instinct would be that you and your little ones have to come first but it is difficult, your dh must feel torn between his responsibilities - can you sort a compromise? not sure how but you don't need too much extra stress at the moment. DD1 dropped out of uni last year and worked instead(she has just started uni again this week). It was a really good experience for her and she matured loads. She also earned lots of money to finance uni this time, which has obviously really helped as money will be rather short after christmas! It may be a blessing - she might be quite a godsend for helping out with your littles ones.

MERLYPUSS · 01/10/2007 20:56

Back from hols. Had a great time and seem to have exploded size wise. Nothing to do with the 3 course dinners though
Off to Kings for a cardiac scan for twins. Another long and tiring day no doubt but good to be going to a center of excellence for that type of thing. Wish me us luck

pobletsmum · 01/10/2007 21:31

Welcome home Merlypuss!

Happy birthday Jo!

Hungrymama - sorry but I really don't know but i would think you should speak to your midwife/GP in the mroning if the problem is still there.

beansprout- what's your favourite type of chocolate? I like milk & white, but not dark. I love Lindt Lindor - mmmmmmmm....

Seriously though, what does your DH have to say about the dsd situation? I understand that he will want to support her, but I hope you're able to talk to him about your feelings.

As for me, I had my scan this afternoon. Everything looked OK apart from the baby?s stomach. I?m going back tomorrow afternoon for another scan, but the sonographer didn?t appear very worried by it. We had to wait a while to see if the baby would swallow, which makes the stomach swell so she can measure it, but it never did swell. She said it?s highly unlikely that there?s a problem because if there was, there would usually be other signs of something being wrong. I?ll be much happier if they can get the measurements they need tomorrow. Fingers crossed. I have been having problems with my internet connection so please be patient if I don't report back straight away. I will do my best.

beansprout · 01/10/2007 21:34

Best of luck for tomorrow PM. You sound very calm which is great. Look forward to hearing good tummy news.

Can't go wrong with a bit of Green and Blacks I reckon, esp that white/vanillary stuff.
Will talk to dh about this (he is away at the moment with the Tories in Blackpool - his idea of hell, heh heh). Not sure what the answer is but need to take it a step at a time I think.

alkar · 01/10/2007 21:47

Happy birthday Jo x

pobletsmum · 01/10/2007 22:10

beansprout - just keep talking if you can.

pobletsmum · 01/10/2007 22:11

(to DH, not about chocolate!)

CountTo10 · 01/10/2007 22:14

Ahhhh had such a lovely couple of days - well except work!! It was ds's birthday today (happy bday to you too Jo!!) and he's had such a lovely time!!! I'm so glad cause he's been a bit poorly recently and a bit wavering on the whole baby thing so it was so nice to see him have a fuss made of him. He's had so much stuff but loved all of it!! I just can't believe he's 3 though!! Only seems like yesterday I was doing all this for the first time!!

I've decided that Bubs no 3 is very odd!! I swear they just randomly disappear sometimes as my bump does seem to just up and leave and then I'm huge!!! Think that's when I was having a bum stuck out at me!!

Hope we;re all well, Pobletsmum, good luck with the new scan x
