pobletsmum · 27/09/2007 15:37

Widgetsmummy - so glad you reported back to us. It's about time you did realise you're having a baby!!!!!!!

beansprout · 27/09/2007 18:13

I saw the giant baby last night. I thought ds was big!

minxy125 · 27/09/2007 18:32

Hi everybody thanks for the welcome, scan all brill, babes very active and quite a poser for the camera I would have to say!! We don't know if boy or girl so will be a nice surprise. Although I would have to say I would of not minded finding out, but DP want the surprise!! DS was good as gold and when asked what he could see on screen he replied "ahh rabbit"!! so bump is now nicknamed bunny!! So now the excitement is kicking in and we are starting to relax a bit! DP even took us for a family meal out to celebrate, so all in all had a lovely day. Glad everything went well for you too widgetsmummy, such a relief!!

minxy125 · 27/09/2007 18:33

Am laughing at being a 3pm girl

Amy78 · 27/09/2007 19:10

Okay, having seen that baby picture can I change my mind!?!?!

Egg · 27/09/2007 19:41

Ahhhh the 3pm girls both had great news! Glad you can both stop worrying now ladies (although I am still worrying even after mine...).

Ok so how much did that giant baby weigh???????? I guess the good thing about twins is that they wont ever get to be that huge! Had my obstetrician appt earlier. Have a feeling he is really quite pro c-section, but apparently the other guy I could have had is even more pro c-section. Whoopeeee. I will just have to show him how it can be done (hopefully!).

Got date for next scan which is in 6 weeks time on 8 November when I will be 28 weeks. Will be looking very carefully to check that it really is one boy and one girl and then I can really go MAD shopping .

Egg · 27/09/2007 19:43

By the way LOL Amy at Arwen! That's the kind of thing my DH would try. He kept saying how he liked the name Clint for a boy but it was just because he idolises Clint Eastwood. Thank god I would never in a million years have agreed (no offence to any Clints out there...).

rozzyraspberry · 27/09/2007 20:27

Giant baby was about 17lbs!!! Surely that must be a record!!!! With ds1 being only 6lbs 4 and ds2 9lbs 3 I'm hoping for somewhere in the middle this time - 8lbs would be good!! Less than half of that baby.

Congratulations on the latest set of exciting scans! Egg you're so lucky you get more scans - I'll have to wait until Feb to see lo again.

Was freezing here today - really need to try and get some sort of fleece/jacket.

Got a wedding on saturday so boys going to my mums overnight so looking forward to a day off and longish lie on Sunday.

Hope everyone well!

Egg · 28/09/2007 08:11

Ooooh a lie in... I remember them. We try to take it in turns for a lie in at weekends but they're never proper lie ins .

Tis indeed freezing. Thankfully DS's winter coat from last winter fits him still (it was huuuuge last winter and is still big now, despite being 12-18 months and he is now 19 months). I think I might have to take a look in our local Blooming Marvellous today to see what they have in the way of warmer things.

I think I get two more scans, which is fab. And by the time we are back from hols (WE GO TOMORROW!!!!!!!), it will be less than four weeks til the next one. Last time I had two extra as well as they were worried DS was too small, so booked a growth scan for 30 weeks. Then at that one they thought he was too big, so had another growth scan at 36 weeks. He was completely average .

So, any tips for entertaining a toddler on an aeroplane? Last time he flew he was 8 months old, and so was just held the whole time and we gave him constant bottles of milk so he kept falling asleep. We thankfully fly at a decent time (1:45pm) and hopefully if he has his Blankie he will sleep a bit. Have got him his own seat which might help.

samsmam · 28/09/2007 09:11

I took my DD on a plane at 8 months too, so no real tips- it is good that he has his own seat though. Bit more space for you all. We have just booked to go to my parents villa in Cyprus on May 30th next year. A 3 month old and a 17 month old- not too challenging!

I decided to book the private anomoly scan on October 18th- they did me a package deal of that scan and the 4d bonding one nearer christmas for £140, which is not bad compared to some. I'm probably just been worrier again but at least my mind will be at ease again.

Weather is horrible today. I hate winter.

leesmum · 28/09/2007 13:19

Good to hear everyones scans have gone well, and welcome to all the new ladies

Egg we go to spain on tues and its the fourth time we have took ds, all i can suggest to keep him entertained is to have plenty of his favourite toys and buy a couple of new ones to bring out in emergencies. Each time we allways buy him a toy plane with the airline on it and he loves that. Its worth bearing in mind to have a sachet of calpol on you,i've had to use it a couple of times for when he is a bit cranky and it does the trick.

If i don't get back on until you go have a great time in the sun, i can't tell you how much i am looking forward to getting my white lardy body out on the beach.

BRING ON THE SUN!!

Egg · 28/09/2007 14:04

Hehe! My skin is so hideous and dry and white and scaly . Have been packing his Postman Pat rucksack just now full of his toy cars and small books etc. Also got plenty of snacks, and a new scribbler thing from ELC that you draw on and then wipe off type thing... He hasn't even seen it yet. Was thinking of getting him a plane tomorrow too! Also his beloved Blankie will be with us, and he normally calms down the minute he gets Blankie crammed into his hands and mouth!

gingermumi · 28/09/2007 15:28

Glad scans all went well. Am really lucky as I have extra ones for fibroid and low placenta so next one is 1t 25 weeks (mid october, can't remember date). Love seeing LO.

Do airlines still give kids freebies? sometimes the novelty of something like that helps. (I love free things, it would keep me quiet for ages! )

Egg · 28/09/2007 15:30

I am sure my DS will charm the stewardesses into giving him free things. Even if it is just a plastic cup it will make him happy!

It is due to thunder and rain in Portugal this weekend .

mymissus · 28/09/2007 17:25

Just had scan - all well!

Found out sex but am keeping it quiet at moment - nice to have something private that DP and I can share..

Am highly jealous of those heading off on holiday - I do love this time of year on cold crisp mornings though. Have just had last couple of days off for midwife appointments and scan, very luxurious and much appreciated. I didn't realise how KNACKERED I was!

DP has a slightly glazed look in his eyes and has gone very quiet....!

beansprout · 28/09/2007 17:28

Took ds to the dentist today and she gave him a pair of latex gloves. She said that if he didn't want to play with them (curiously, he didn't), we could take them home and use them there. Er, what for?!!!

Happy holidays to all those who are jetting off tomorrow. Sounds lovely. Great time of year to go I think. All getting a bit depressing, weather wise, here in Blighty, has to be said!!

princessllama · 28/09/2007 19:28

really can't wait for scan now, i must be the last one, still 10 days away.
if lo is 11 months and i washed all her baby clothes when i put them away do i have to wash them all again?
am i a bad mother
liking the name discussions. dh has unsurprisingly given a big no to inigo and merlin if it's a boy. also won't agree to mary if it's a girl as his ex girlfriend was called that. obviously had to have a late night hormonal row with dh as i said didn't see why he got any say in what the baby is called as i have to do all the hard work-i know, i can be a shocker
re that programme on babies, made me cry when the baby was crying and the vile mat nurse wouldn't let the parents pick it up. horrible.
welcome to all the newbies.

lljkk · 28/09/2007 19:30

I don't wash old baby clothes, I'm sure a few others have confessed the same. Not even the stuff I picked up from charity shops. Exactly what harm has this caused my babies? I dunno, I haven't noticed it yet.

princessllama · 28/09/2007 19:44

brill!

Jaysthird · 28/09/2007 20:47

Princess, i havnt had my scan yet, its not till 23 Oct

samsmam · 28/09/2007 20:55

My scan isn't until the 29th!
Cancelled the private one as it is more money spent that we don't really have.

Jaysthird · 28/09/2007 21:16

when are you due sams?

Amy78 · 28/09/2007 21:32

Just felt my first proper kick!! Yippee!! I've got my scan next Thursday but am a bit concerned that I haven't had the results of all my blood tests which I had 5 weeks ago now! Phoned my midwife today and her response was 'no news is obviously good then!' Was actually the first time I've spoken to her as it's always just been locums - she sounds a real barrel of laughs, I think not .
Has anyone else waited ages for their results? Or is just the cold getting to the brains of the hospital staff up here in Aberdeen?!?!

CountTo10 · 28/09/2007 21:50

Egg - Portugal is lovely. It was my third time and I'd go every year!! I went to Albufeira but have been near Praia de Rocha as well. Sorry to hear about the weather, hopefully it will clear up - where are you going?

Am78 - where i am, you only specifically get contacted re your results if anything comes up as a concern, e.g. low iron count - I've only ever got my results at my next check up. If they're not in your notes though,i.e. you can't just get them from your surgery, you should raise a query with your doc.

DP felt the baby kicking for the first time today and was very chuffed! They're getting stronger all the time!! My bump changes shape all the time. Sometimes I look quite big but others I look really small!! Struggling a bit with DS at the moment as he can see that something is going on now and we've had lots of babytalk and behaving like a baby and being spiteful towards the bump!! At the same time though he's really affectionate with babies!! It's his birthday on Monday and we've got all the family over on sunday so hopefully that might make him feel a bit more secure about the whole thing.

Hope everyone's well x

rozzyraspberry · 29/09/2007 09:39

Amy78 - were the blood tests you had the triple test? Where I am you get contacted within 2 weeks if you're assessed as higher risk (higher than 1 in 250 chance). Otherwise they wait until after your scan and if all looks ok then they send you a letter to say your risk factor is low. I think like your midwife says they would have got in touch with you if anything was wrong.

Hope those of you off on holiday have a nice time! And everyone else has a nice weekend.
