I love watching one born every minute 🤭 I havent heard about that other show life and birth but really want to watch it now. I have a book about hypnobirthing that I bought when I was expecting my second and I also attended a course. I really liked it, there's no harm in their philosophy, and I like how they explain how we shouldn't be scared of childbirth etc

Bubble29 · 16/05/2020 18:27

For those considering the Positive Birth Company digital hypno-birthing course, it has an offer of £10 this weekend! I'm reading the book and really enjoying it.

@baggies we have bought a twist and click, no idea if we needed it but it had good reviews!

Also re getting moving, when im working downstairs i make myself go to the upstairs loo rather than down (for the 10,000 times a day i need to go) ans find that gets me up a bit more

Xx

Emmy2020 · 16/05/2020 18:58

@ShiningStarz @Sunshinexx95 That is so depressing to think it won’t be back to normal by then! I’m already worrying how I’ll get to hospital as my husband doesn’t drive so was planning on my mum taking us but I’m guessing that won’t be able to happen with social distancing? Also I’d need to have someone to look after my other two children so I have no idea what I’ll do if we can’t be close to family by then! 😬

Lilice · 16/05/2020 19:17

@emmy2020 I worry about that too, I've not family nearby and counting on my neighbours to look after the kids while I'm giving birth so that my husband can come with me..I hope we wont be in another lockdown by then

Emmy2020 · 16/05/2020 19:45

@lilice It’s worrying isn’t it? I wonder what others have done in the same circumstances. Definitely want my husband to be with me!

Sara7455 · 16/05/2020 19:47

@Lilice I’ve been binge watching one born the last couple of weeks, it’s strangely addictive. I quite like that there’s a nice story for everyone and they show a real range of nice easy births and times when things don’t go according to plan but usually a happy ending. I saw my first sad ending the other day though and it broke my heart so haven’t been brave enough to watch anymore 🙈

ShiningStarz · 16/05/2020 20:18

Thank you @Bubble29 I just signed up! £10 off so down to £29. Much appreciated x

Emmy2020 · 16/05/2020 20:39

@Sara7455 What can I watch one born every minute on?

Lilice · 16/05/2020 21:05

@Sara7455 it is strangely addictive, isn't it? My husband thinks I'm crazy to watch such a show.
@emmy2020 I think you can watch it on 4 on demand and YouTube

emma278 · 16/05/2020 21:14

@Lilice weve been watching it back to back too. My husband loves it more than me. He thinks hes an expert now 😂😂

Emmy2020 · 16/05/2020 21:56

@lilice Thanks 😊

Sara7455 · 16/05/2020 22:44

@emma278 my husband only ever seems to walk in when I’m watching it just as they’re showing a head pop out so he’s terrified and will never watch it with me 😂

sianyflewog · 17/05/2020 07:23

@baggies Everything goes in the bin - wipes, cotton wool, nappy. I believe when the lid is shut, it’s all sealed together in the film that comes in the refill cartridges 🙂

Emmy2020 · 17/05/2020 08:33

So I’ve been on furlough since this lockdown began as I work field based, drive and go to work in at least 4 different shops a day. I’ve kept up my social distancing, haven’t been to a shop since lockdown! Some of my colleagues have gone back if they are able to. Obviously I’m still on furlough as I’m pregnant, I’m meant to be going back at the end of this month so my question is does anyone know if it’s Safe to go back at end of the month? Or am I still classed as vulnerable? What’s changed since I was first put on furlough? I’ll be about 23/24 weeks pregnant by then. My work is close to others and going into lots of stores. I have so many questions but the government haven’t really updated us on working when pregnant, not that I’ve seen anyway. Also worried as one of my children will not be going back to school until sept and one may be going back June but I need to be around for pickups/drop offs as obviously I can’t get my parents to do that at the moment with social distancing do I’m worried I won’t finish work in time to get to school. I will speak to my boss soon but just wondered if anyone had any info? Or in a similar experience?thanks! 😊

Roxy8203 · 17/05/2020 09:06

@Emmy2020 www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/guidelines/coronavirus-pregnancy/covid-19-virus-infection-and-pregnancy/

Have a look here for the official info for pregnant women. This is the site my midwife told me they get their info from

Emmy2020 · 17/05/2020 09:13

Thankyou @Roxy8203 I will have a look!

ShiningStarz · 17/05/2020 09:17

Hi @Emmy2020 I have a similar job too although I am able to work from home. My employer is not expecting anyone back at 'normal' work yet (I'm in NI so a few weeks behind Eng with covid) and to be honest it'll not happen for months yet and by then I'v only a short time before mat leave starts. I'v kept majority of my leave so I can take 1 month off before EDD.
If your employer isn't protecting you, speak to your gp, they could sign you off as unable to go back to work if required. I know I'm not seeing a midwife anytime soon so gp prob best bet if your in same boat x

ChipsAreLife · 17/05/2020 09:43

@Emmy2020 @lilice you're allowed someone to have your kids whilst you give birth even in lockdown. They discussed it on Jeremy vine on radio at the start of lockdown and said they're exceptions to the rules and this is one. They said in an ideal world you would and the person/people having the kids all would self isolate for two weeks before but of course you don't know when babies going to come so that's not always possible!

I'm lucky that I've got a date booked so can plan around it. My sister and her family or brother and his family (really my sister in law as she's amazing 😆) will have the girls. We will prob keep them there from when I go in to when I leave as otherwise DH would have to get them and take them back and there's the small risk he could get in hospital and pass it on.

@Emmy2020 that is tough, I'm fairly sure after 28 weeks the advise is to stay home as per the guidelines Roxy shared. I would speak to your employer as the Furlough scheme is still running then and like you say with childcare to consider you need to stay gone really.

ChipsAreLife · 17/05/2020 09:43

Lol why is that bold?!

OP posts:
sianyflewog · 17/05/2020 10:08

@Emmy2020 I think the best thing you can do is speak to your employer. They should do a health and safety risk assessment on you, and need to try and provide a safe way in which you can work - even if it means amending your usual role. Don’t do anything you’re not comfortable with 😊
The furlough scheme runs up to October now doesn’t it? So perhaps they will keep you furloughed if they cannot provide a safe alternative x

Lilice · 17/05/2020 10:13

@ChipsAreLife that's good to know!
@Sara7455 haha I can imagine your husband's face seeing a head pop out 🤣🤣 I've watched the first two episodes of life and birth, I like it!

Lazydaisydaydream · 17/05/2020 12:27

@Emmy2020 the document that the government published last week about the changes states that pregnant women are classed as clinically vulnerable, there is no statement about number of weeks it just applies to all pregnant women and that they should work from home and socially distance.

Emmy2020 · 17/05/2020 12:42

Thank you for the advice everyone! 😊

Lilice · 17/05/2020 19:42

I'm thinking of buying a twist and click bin now. The only thing that worries me is the price of the refill cassettes. Has anyone ever used one, and if so how long will a cassette last you? I saw the angelcare one is cheaper than the Tommy tippee one and so are the refill cassettes. I've always just used a normal bin and I'd put the number too onea directly outside, but it would be nice to have a different system to save me from going outside all the time
