Hiya

I’m a bit late to the party but I’m pregnant with a girl due Sept 16th! I already have a little boy who is 2! Currently working in a hospital as a nursing assistant so will be working up until 28 weeks when I’ll be sent on shielding leave. It’s crazy times. Hope you’re all well :) x

ShiningStarz · 14/05/2020 15:45

Fab news @baggies
My parents are anxious they won't get to see the baby with all these social distancing regulations. I'm sure all grandparents feel the same.

I was very sad to hear of the baby that passed away yesterday after testing positive for covid-19, the mother was confirmed positive and complications arose during birth. Absolutely devastating. I'll be trying my hardest to not be in any shops / around people the next few months. Stay safe everyone 💜

ShiningStarz · 14/05/2020 15:46

Congrats @fin90 I'm sure you can't wait for 28 weeks to come. Stay safe

ChipsAreLife · 14/05/2020 15:59

@fin90 welcome and congrats!

@baggies welcome! So much you can go crazy on buying!

Oh god since having the girls I only wear wired bras when I have meetings or night outs 😅 I normally wear bralettes but my boobs are huge so I bought some primark crop too sport bra things before lockdown and they're fab!

@shiningstarz it's really sad, was it definitely because of the covid? I didn't really read it as I find the press reporting dreadful and full of inaccuracies so try avoid. I watched hospital this week, it was a two part covid special on bbc and a mum with covid gave birth and it was really reassuring.

I'm starting to get my list together so that from next week I can start buying what we need 🥳

@ChipsAreLife I read it quickly as I find it all very depressing. Think the mother was confirmed covid before but during birth passed out and baby was starved of oxygen, baby also tested positive for covid. Just absolutely gutted for the parents.

I'v a scam at 24/25 week and after that i plan on starting to buy. My partner and I have a sheet going with the cost so we can keep an eye of how much is spent! 🙈

ShiningStarz · 14/05/2020 17:02

We are ordering the bugaboo fox 2 tonight!! Plan to get the maxi cosy compatible car seat and the iso fix base and adaptors too. That'll be the biggest purchase out of the way!

Lilice · 14/05/2020 17:24

@LatteLover12 thanks for that.

I went to the attic today to start sorting out the baby's clothes but there's so many and quickly became overwhelming
I didnt label all of the stuff and I even moved houses in between so it's quite a mess and I need to take everything downstairs (there's nearly 7 years worth of clothes) and sort it out again. Then I can start buying clothes once I know what I really need.

@ShiningStarz I've already received the travel system, cant believe how quickly it came! On the other hand, I ordered more maternity clothes this afternoon and they will take 23 working days to arrive 😑 that's over a month!

Smilymami · 14/05/2020 18:32

@Cox2020 welcome.. im due same day and I'm keeping the sex a surprise too.. so much to look forward to. I wanted to start shopping for bits and pieces, but im finding it really hard getting any nice unisex things...

Cox2020 · 14/05/2020 18:53

@Smilymami Hi so excited I’ve found someone due the same date! I’ve been lucky I love animals so managed to find some nice animal unisex clothes. I don’t want to buy too much as both me and husband are tall and they told me at 20 week scan baby had very long legs so I’m not sure small size babygrows are going to fit for long. I plan to order more online or send my sister out once baby is born to buy some more if needed.

Chanel05 · 14/05/2020 20:24

Does anyone have evenings where they are soooo uncomfortable? I'm just aching all over and no matter what position I sit in on the sofa I feel frustrated.

Lazydaisydaydream · 14/05/2020 20:43

@Chanel05 my back is fine during the day but hurts by bedtime. And I'm starting to struggle to get comfy on the sofa watching TV. My problem is I am self employed and work during the evenings once my son is in bed so it's the worst part of the day for me! One of my friends has recommended I get an exercise ball to sit on so I think I'm going to try that.

Lazydaisydaydream · 14/05/2020 20:45

@ShiningStarz I hadn't heard that sad news, but reafirms for me my decision to self isolate as much as possible. Starting to feel a lot of pressure from DHs family about seeing them as soon as the restrictions for the general public ease but my MIL is a nurse and I just don't feel comfortable with the idea of spending time with them right now. Confused

ShiningStarz · 14/05/2020 21:42

@Lazydaisydaydream @Chanel05 I just started bringing down my big long pregnancy pillow and use it on the sofa in evenings like a donut behind me back and then I take it up to bed! It's great especially if you have a deep sofa 👍

Piper1879 · 14/05/2020 21:43

@chanel05 my back is killing me , along with my hips , I'm hoping I don't have SPD but I'm waddling most days now. I'm waiting for payday so I can order my pregnancy pillow, I find I'm ok for the morning then in pain the rest of the day. My mum tells me to get on all fours and rock to get the baby off my back , sometimes it works and sometimes I think she's taking the piss.

Sara7455 · 15/05/2020 06:48

@Piper1879 your mum probably is right. At my antenatal yoga class we get on all fours and circle one way then the other. Instructor said it’s because the spine is the heaviest bit of baby so it encourages them to face spine down rather than back to back with us.

I’m going to talk to my midwife next week when I see her about spd, not sure if it’s that or overdoing it but if I’ve had an active day it’s a real struggle to turn over in bed and night and I’m feeling pretty waddly like you when I’m walking about most days!

ChipsAreLife · 15/05/2020 09:08

@Piper1879 @Sara7455 I had SPD with my first was awful. Got referred to a physio who said the main thing is to try keep your legs together, so when you get out of bed don't swing one out and follow with the other. Keep them together (like you've got a fight mini skirt on) so you're not opening them up. Same with getting out of the car off the sofa etc, it really helps. You can get support belts which help and agree being on all fours can move the position of baby, I got my turn doing that when I was 39 weeks ... naughty thing turned back though! Make sure you speak to your midwife about it.

@shiningstarz that's very sad. I guess we just have to take hope it's one tragic case amongst thousands who have been pregnant and been ok during this all.

@lazydaisydream don't blame you! Also do they not understand you're at risk? Once we get to 28 weeks the guidance is to stay home anyway!

Sara7455 · 15/05/2020 09:14

@ChipsAreLife thank you! I’ve got my 25 week check on Tuesday so I’m going to speak to her then. SIL had it with hers and ended up on crutches which I’m keen to avoid of course! I’ve got an existing issue with hyper-elastic ligaments so a bit worried I’ll be prone to it.
Are you free from it so far this time around? I wasn’t sure if you were more likely to get it again if you’ve had it before?

ChipsAreLife · 15/05/2020 09:27

@Sara7455 fight mini skirt! Lol meant tight!!! I didn't have it with my second and seem to be fine this time round too. Your poor SIL it's very painful. I always found mine really bad after I'd been sat or asleep I remember crawling to the loo in the night as I couldn't walk! Defo mention to midwife, they're may be online resources that can help with physio exercises too x

Had my oral glucose tolerance test today. Anyone else had theirs yet? Made me feel queasy but was very proud of myself for managing not to throw up haha

ShiningStarz · 15/05/2020 17:27

My Oral glucose TT has been cancelled! Good old covid!!!

ShiningStarz · 15/05/2020 18:46

No one website has everything I need for travel system!
Trying to order bugaboo fox 2, the maxi Cosi pebble plus car seat with the adaptors and the 3 way fix!! OMG I'm gunna have to place separate orders!! 🙃 good old covid again!!!

Lazydaisydaydream · 15/05/2020 18:53

@ShiningStarz cancelled without any alternative?!

Bubble29 · 15/05/2020 19:16

@ShiningStarz I'm also looking at the maxi cosy pebble plus, have you found any good offers?

Sep20baby · 15/05/2020 19:42

@ShiningStarz hi, I’m based in Bucks and they don’t do the oral glucose test anymore they just did a blood test. My 20 scan showed baby was bigger so They tested me for gestational diabeties via one blood test and said that’s how they test this now. Not sure if you can have that?or if this helps

Sara7455 · 15/05/2020 19:46

@ChipsAreLife that’s good news you haven’t had it since your first! Will chat to midwife about it and hope that catching it early means it won’t get too bad. Agree with you it’s way worse after sitting or lying too long. Am working from home on the laptop all day and can’t imagine it’s helping to be honest!
