When is everyone thinking of quitting work and starting mat leave?
My EDD is 9th sept and I'll prob have around 20 days leave to take so was thinking I'd love to finish 4 weeks before.
I'm really struggling working from home and just with all these changes happening to us and being pregnant and preparing for new arrival all at the same time!!

Emmy2020 · 12/05/2020 17:51

@ShiningStarz I’ve said beginning of September as I’m due the 23rd and that I’ll use whatever holiday I have before that so probably end of August. It’s an estimate though so if I find it too hard I can change it to earlier.

emma278 · 12/05/2020 17:53

@ShiningStarz im thinking of going on the bank hols weekend in august so about 2 weeks before my sept 10th dd. I am struggling at home too but trying to drag it out as long as possible fo maximise time with Baby. Im planning to take 9 months off and be back about this time next year. Xx

Lorna198 · 12/05/2020 18:15

I’ve just sent my form in. 29/08 to finish but have 3 weeks hols to use before. Due 12th September so even though I’m resting now it’s not my choice. When I may need to rest I will be able too!

Also can everyone write their due date and if it’s a girl, boy or surprise at the end of their next post. I will do a calendar sheet ready to go on page 1 of the next thread so we all have an easy reference as we get ever closer!!

emma278 · 12/05/2020 18:28

@Lorna198 aw what a lovely idea

Im Sept 10th and a surprise! 🥰

MooseWL · 12/05/2020 18:41

I've said I'm going on leave 21st and due 25th 🙈
But I'll take the week before as leave so will end up with 2 weeks off before my due date. As it's an office job figure I'll be fine as I'm just sat all day! I'd rather have as much time off after as possible.

I'm due 25th and it's a boy 💙

pangolin84 · 12/05/2020 19:15

I haven’t told my work when I’m planning on stopping but I think will start mat leave on Monday 21st Sept (due date the following Saturday) but will take any annual leave I have left before that. At the moment that’s looking like it will be an extra three weeks!

Due date is 26th Sept and it’s a boy 😊

OrDis · 12/05/2020 19:18

I’m thinking of going sept 1st (due date is 20th) so will have a few weeks to chill hopefully before baby. I can carry over any unused leave and tac it onto the end so I wouldnt have to go back before baby is 1

OrDis · 12/05/2020 19:20

Sorry forgot to say, due date is 20th and it’s a girl!

Sara7455 · 12/05/2020 19:33

@emma278 late response but if you think the vits might be fo blame maybe speak to your mw about if you really need them? Mine said after the first trimester is safely out of the way you only really need to take vitamin D and most of the multivitamins aren’t needed if you have a pretty balanced diet anyway

Sara7455 · 12/05/2020 19:34

I’m due September 1st and taking mat leave from about two weeks before. I’ve got loads of holiday to use as well but was planning on basically using it to go onto part time hours for a decent stretch before my mat leave.

Lilice · 12/05/2020 20:01

Congrats @MooseWL and @pangolin84 on your scans and baby boy news 💙
@ChipsAreLife totally get it, I also read the doc that was published yesterday and the guidelines say it should be ok. I'll wait and see before making any decisions. Hopefully things will look good in 3 weeks. My nieces in France were back to school today!
@ShiningStarz I'm going to stop work in August even though I'm due end of September. I want to have time to myself before the whirlwind.
@Lorna198 I'm due on 25th and it's a surprise 💛

Lilice · 12/05/2020 20:03

Has anyone bought maternity leggings off boohoo and if so, are they any good? I love my h and m ones but dont want to wait another 3 weeks for my order to arrive and desperately need more leggings asap

sianyflewog · 12/05/2020 20:20

I’m same as @OrDis - I am due 20th, and am finishing work on 1st Sept. Fortunately, I will have had the school holidays before hand which extends it a little 😊 although as I work in an FE college we go back at the end August for 2 weeks for enrolment.
Officially I go back to work at the start of May, but I have applied for 30 days holiday so I go back in June for the last weeks of term and our training/admin weeks, and then I will be back off on school holidays again. 🤞🏻

OrDis · 12/05/2020 20:28

@Lilice I got a pack of two maternity leggins from boohoo. They do the job but the quality isn't great and they are quite thin.

sianyflewog · 12/05/2020 21:02

@Lilice I have a pair from New Look, they didn’t take long to come x

Sara7455 · 12/05/2020 21:03

@Lilice I haven’t heard great things about boohoo but I got new look ones from ASOS and love them

HugeAgeGap · 12/05/2020 21:09

Leggings - I got some maternity leggings from Love Leggings online and they are amazing. Fantastic quality and super comfortable x

Cox2020 · 12/05/2020 21:23

Hi everyone, I'm a bit late to the group but I'm expecting my 1st baby on 6th September, keeping it a surprise. Really helpful reading everyone’s recommendations on what to buy. I’m starting my maternity leave on 1st September as already managed to book the whole of August off as annual leave.

ChipsAreLife · 12/05/2020 21:56

@Cox2020 welcome!!!

@lorna I'm due 8 Sept but having a section 4 Sept. I'm team yellow 💛

@lilice I'll be surprised if they do open though. I think R will go up between then and also a lot of teachers saying they will resign etc. It's all a mess and I feel so bad for my girls missing out.

I think I'll go on mat leave 3 weeks before. Girls will be on summer holiday so gives me time with them and also as I run a company with another person I will prob spend first week or so tying up bits!

I'm 23 weeks today and will relax slightly more at 24 and start buying more 🤞

When I was pregnant with my son I had two weeks holiday to use up and so finished work a month before my due date. It seemed a bit early but actually it was perfect. I got loads of things sorted around the house, had a big nap today, spent lots of time enjoying my freedom haha. He was born two days after his due date, if it had been any later I might have thought it was too long! Now I am self employed so will finish a few weeks before but can be very flexible and see how I feel.

@Lorna198 I'm due on 2nd September and having a surprise 💛

Bubble29 · 13/05/2020 06:44

@sianyflewog bizarrely I also work at an FE college, due on the 20th and plan to return at the same time!

I'm having twins though so have been told they'll be delivered by week 38 which is the 6th Sep but still plan on returning at the end of Aug for enrolment given I'd had been off for the summer holiday.

sianyflewog · 13/05/2020 07:13

@Bubble29 Congratulations! I had my son at 38 weeks - I finished work a week before. It was hard for the last few weeks, but I loved that I had more time with him afterwards. As he was born in the middle of the academic year, I actually had 15 months off including holidays from both years - feeling a bit of guilt that I don’t have that this time round. At least this time those last few weeks in August aren’t too demanding. I’m happy to finish earlier this time so that I can take H to (state) nursery every day, and help him settle into his new routine. Hoping they’ll agree to an elective c-section this time too, and baby will be born in the week before my due date.

sianyflewog · 13/05/2020 07:15

@Lorna198 I’m due 20th, and it’s a (unintended) surprise for now!

Emmy2020 · 13/05/2020 10:22

Due 23rd and it’s a girl!
