MRSSkiddadle - I think my friend just had a bad experience with her 2nd birth and thought going for an elective c-section just sounded like a better option. I must just close my ears to all the horror stories and concentrate on the good stories people tell me.

Thanks Housemum for your experience. I really do like to hear things like that, it really does help!

Does anyone else have this continuous bruising pain under their right rib? I guess it's bits and pieces being pushed upwards but it is very annoying!

Wizzska · 28/09/2007 17:43

Yikes Suey, I know how you feel. SMP is nothing and seeing as we largely live off my salary we're going to be really squeezed. Its going to use up a hefty amount of savings, but we also want to convert our loft space this year. We really need the extra room.

suey2 · 28/09/2007 17:55

are you self employed too, wizzska?

Me too but but more complicated and I will get some of my partnership profits but decided bugaboo was just stretch too far...so am going for silver cross 3D much easier to fold up in and out of car as well ....

fifisworld · 28/09/2007 19:37

Ive finally decided on my maternity leave, my last day is 26th October
Im going in for elective cs around 7th/8th/9th dec so it gives me 6 weeks to spend with ds, get xmas shopping etc..i cant wait now

Still feeling achy and not sleeping properly though

thelady · 28/09/2007 20:35

fifisworld: very of you mat leave date!

I made the mistake of scoffing kitkats (lots!) followed by a can of diet coke after dinner tonight. Was most yummy, but the sproglet has been in constant motion ever since. owowowowowow! Funny how coffee doesn't seem to have any effect

Am now trying to make up for it by drinking water and will make a fruit salad tomorrow instead.

In 'other life' we've had two folk come to have a look round the hotel this week. One a complete time-waster who admitted that he didn't know anything about the trade, didn't know what questions to ask, and sat there like a lump - and I'd cancelled a mw appointment to show him round . The other has been in the trade before, asked lots of intelligent questions, and sounded like he'd only take it on if he was sure he could make a go of it. Much better! That's 6 viewings so far, but nothing to get excited about yet.

Nice new name Wizzska!
I don't seem to have this pain under my ribs that some people are getting Claraq but I think that is because baby usually sits sideways and as low as possible! Do get a bit breathless in the evenings sometimes though but that is usually when LO turns head down and starts kicking upwards!
Ooh Fifi, not long until your Mat leave! Can't believe some of us are nearly oon Mat leave already! Makes LO's arrival seem much closer. I have got another 8 weeks until mine starts (although got last week in October and last week in November off of evening job in that time too!). My 'day job' boss has employed someone to take over the phones from me, she will start at the end of October to give us a month's handover time. Also means that my last month with him will be more about admin than answering the phone which is great.
Poor you Beanster and your poor DD, glad she seems to be feeling a bit better though - they often do once they have thrown up! Is awful when they are ill. DS1 came out of school today complaining of a headache and a couple of hours later developed a temperature too. He's asleep now, am hoping he feels better in the morning. He has football practice tomorrow and his first away match on Sunday with his little team, obviously if he is unwell he will miss both .

becklespeckle · 28/09/2007 20:40

I think some people like the idea of running a hotel but actually have no clue TheLady! Am I right in thinking you are trying to sell? What will you and DH do (other than relax a bit!) once you have sold it?

thelady · 28/09/2007 20:45

becklespeckle: you are so right about that! We've reluctantly put the place on the market as this sproglet wasn't so much unplanned as completely and utterly unexpected (we'd been told IVF was our only option) and it's simply the wrong kind of business to try and mix with a baby/toddler.

If you want to find out the ups/downs then DH's blog is a good place to start
The Spread as it details pretty much everything from the time we took over just under 3 years ago.

We're hoping to sell within 18 months (average is about 2 years) and then take a little time off. We'll eventually end up running a guesthouse, we think, but in the mean time DH could get a job as chef (not head chef though!) and depending on childcare costs etc. I have a few options too. It would be lovely to be out of here before the tourist season starts in May/June next year, but realistically that's a fairly faint hope.

thelady · 28/09/2007 20:46

Ooops! Just noticed the message count!

Could someone who knows how to do it please set up a new thread for us before we hit 1000 posts and get locked out?

Many many thanks.

becklespeckle · 28/09/2007 20:55

I guess it wouldn't be a career to mix well with a LO. I always thought working from home (or living at work as you do) would be ideal but have realised since starting it earlier this year that it actually means you have very little time to play with the children/do the housework/just relax. Will be very glad to give that job up (although may stay on to do the odd bit of admin). Hopefully someone will come along who is looking for somewhere just like your hotel and you can have some time off!

I noticed the message count too but am rubbish at thinking up clever thread names! You think of a name TheLady and I'll start it if you like!

Loucee · 28/09/2007 21:05

Clara, I have the same pain in my right rib area, the MW today said it was because baby's bottom was lodged up there!

insywinsyspider · 28/09/2007 22:04

phew just caught up with the conversation today!

sorry no inspiration for a new thread name so will hang for someone more creative

mimicakey - NCT classes are great for meeting people, ds is 16 mo and I still meet up with the mums when we can even tho we all work and think the suggestion for the go with the flow birth plan is a good one - dh def didn't want to cut cord but they read that and still asked him loads, ds was week early and I hadn't finished my birth plan - MW didn't look supprised and just said 'well I guess you'd like a natural birth with options to change your mind on the way' pretty much it really - my cousin had her ds a wk later and had 3 A4 pages!! god knows what she found to write about!

suey2 - I have to say idea of water birth doesn't do it for me - mainly because you need to have a sieve [yuk]

as for mat clothes who ever said bump bands are good I completely agree.... and am suffering with back ache, hardly slept, been told baby is back to back and thats what causing it which is plausable because when I go on all fours, baby wriggles and ache goes away, comes back when I lie down been swimming tonight in the hope that helps - anyone got any good tips?

Loucee · 28/09/2007 22:08

Hi Insy

yep you need to sit with your head and shoulders in front of your hips so either sit on a birthing ball or sit on a chair the wrong way round, spend time on your all fours and sleep on your right side.

p.s think we've decided on the P&T sport, I am really excited now but hope to sell my Quinny Buzz to help fund it!
