Lol at MM - got sooo much on and I start training my M/L cover next week (!), so will see if I can drag myself out the door tomorrow.

dundeemarmalade · 27/09/2007 15:05

hello cressida!

has anybody else got achey ribs? my ribs on the lower right hand side feel like they've been stamped on. ouch ouch ouch. can't get comfy except lying in side in bath, which in itself isn't very comfortable.
at london meet up. are us northerners too spread out to make it reasonable to meet up?

mixedmama · 27/09/2007 15:05

In a bid to stop hijacking have set up a thread in Meet Ups for the Curry Night.

mixedmama · 27/09/2007 15:09

Our last meet up was four of us and it was lovely so I think it is feesible for regional ones - such a shame about us all being so spread out as it would be so good to actually meet people.

suey2 · 27/09/2007 15:16

Hi Dundeemarmalade- i had the rib thing a wee while ago- but non-existent since i got my maternity pillow from blooming marvellous: it is flat in the middle and has a lump on either side to support the bump when you are lying on your side. Totally sorted the problem for me.

afternoon all and hello cressida

also at the London meet-ups - wonder where a northern one could be - York/Manchester/Newcastle??

Watched an NCT video about labour last night and put the fear of God innto me - brought back how painful it is and jesus christ the screams coming out of the women - made me sob like a baby for hours (well 20 mins at least) until DH told me no-one would think any worse of me if I had an epidural and I cheered up!!

I'm keeping dd in nursery (3 mornings) same as now - think it's best to disrupt her routine as litle as possible and it will be nice to have some time alone with baby no.2

mixedmama · 27/09/2007 15:19

love the "eipdural and cheer up". Some of our DH's one liners are just fab goign to repeat that to DH tonight.

insywinsyspider · 27/09/2007 16:01

glad i'm not the only one thinking of keeping ds in childcare - was starting to feel very self indulent about it all like I should be able to cope with having 2 at home like others do but I don't think I could

Beanstermummy · 27/09/2007 16:03

dundee - I had that rib pain thingy with DD from 26 weeks or son onwards. At one point I even went to the hopsital as I was convinced something scary was going on. Seems not though and it's just sometimes where the little darlings fi their feet or arms underneath and also the general rib strethcing that is required. Same again this time - as you said, RHS under your ribs - as with Suey2 I find my little wedge pillow thingy a godsend.

Ah an epidural heh - TMI here for first timers, but I had it put in 3 times with DD1 and it still didn't work. Have to laugh now thouhg as the look on my DH's face when he kept seeing the foot long needle going in and out was fab. On the plus side (if there is one!) after 6 hrs of trying to get the drugs to find their way to where intended, it did mean that all the injections I had to have following my eventual CS could be done in my left leg without me feeling a thing for 2 days I'm laughing now honest - god help the poor anetheatist (?) if it happens again.

skidaddle · 27/09/2007 16:31

thing is I know I will feel like I shouldn't have an epidural and should battle on without one (why do we think this way?) so I am still quite terrified at the prospect. DD was 8lb 5 and this one is already measuring large for dates... I know it will be fine and it's only one day and then I will have my baby but I am SCARED

mixedmama · 27/09/2007 16:41

I think it is ridiculous all this feeling of failure about Epidurals etc. If we need it we need it. i know what you mean tho... every step i am taking is so that i dont have it... cant really rationalise why that is tho andd that is strange.

Loucee · 27/09/2007 16:41

Skidaddle, it's exactly thoughts/fears like yours that have made me book on the birthing course, if there's any good tips I pick up I will forward them on to you all.
I had an epidural with DD and didn't feel guilty at all, it was what helped me through to finally meet my DD.

Insy - yes I've felt better for reading about the others that are keeping their DC in nursery/CM/relatives etc as I was wondering if I was being ridiculous! We can't afford any more than 2 mornings a week as we pay for her to go to Jo Jingles on a Tuesday morning as well (then there's swimming as well on a Monday). Hopefully we'll all strike the balance we need to enjoy/cope with the early days/weeks/months of having a newborn and young child as well.

skidaddle · 27/09/2007 16:55

I think most m/w are really against epidurals and like bf it has become a really emotional issue. One of the reasons I was determined not to have one last time was how other people would react - how completely ridiculous. In the DVD last night, one of the women had one and the difference in her was incredible - she was so relaxed and smiling - even had a little nap! Last time with dd I was in such a pethidine-induced haze that I barely remember when she finally came out

Loucee - I wouldn't feel bad about keeping your DD in nursery - I honestly think it's best to keep everything you can the same as before so when her world is turned upside down with the arrival of the new baby at least there will still be a few familiar routines which should be a real comfort
Look forward to hearing tips from your birthing course - thank you!

Housemum · 27/09/2007 17:10

Just a thought re meet-ups - how many of you would mind putting your county on the list? (Come to think of it, we haven't updated any due date lists for a while so I forget who is how far gone!)

I'm happy to start the ball rolling:

Housemum · 27/09/2007 17:11
