New thread for us all to keep in touch. Think we're all nearing the end of the first trimester or dipping our toes into the second ... how far we've come since the days of agonising over stims!

Good luck today @Lily999 - hope it goes well and the day died t drag too much to get there!

We actually broke the rules and sat in my granny in law's garden a few weeks ago. She's 90 odd and obviously also vulnerable so we wore masks, took our own flask of tea etc so I don't think there was much risk. I also went to the supermarket once (although found it a bit stressful) and I think we are going to sit in the park with friends at the weekend, again WFH friends. I'm probably taking a few risks there but equally the biggest risk by far will have been last week's scan trip to the biggest single hospital in the country so....!

@October2020 I asked the midwife (and she gave me a booklet) and at my trust they suggest you start monitoring the kicks a bit earlier than that, at 24 weeks you should start to see a pattern they said. So only a few weeks until I have something else to be neurotic about 🙄😂

Chooklass · 02/06/2020 07:38

Good luck today @Lily999 !!

@FlapJackered I invested in a fairly expensive Bravado maternity/ nursing bra as it was recommended by friends. It's soooo comfy - have ordered another. I don't mind paying for a good bra I'll wear for at least the next year!

I got cheaper ones through Amazon prime as an emergency and they are also good - not quite as comfy but come with reusable breast pads:

@Wimbledon1 I though you were allowed to sit in the garden with people as long as it's outside and with 2m distance.

I go to supermarkets often as we can't secure regular delivery there is no slots, I make sure to keep my distance and wash hands, face when home and the shopping.

MIL got me bbhugme pregnancy pillow! Can't wait to try it tonight!

Viletta · 02/06/2020 14:51

My bbhugme arrived and it's so so comfy! If shaped like a doughnut I can sleep on it on my belly. Bliss!

Chooklass · 02/06/2020 15:45

That sounds amazing @Viletta!! I always slept on my belly until I had neck problems a few years ago and physio told me not to. I really miss it 😂

I second the mumba bra @FlapJackered and @October2020 I’m wearing mine now (I had it from feeding DS) and it’s super comfy. It also has a clever feeding numbering system which I thought was a bit silly until I was sleep deprived and bf-ing DS. Really it’s the only bra I really found comfy when nursing and now so it’s in use a lot and therefore has lasted really well!

I took DS to the beach today, we were sat well away from other people and it was fairly quiet. I also took him to my PIL yesterday as they have a pool but he was told not to touch them and did a good job of that! He did end up playing with the kids next door to us on the beach today but he’s 3 and trying to keep him 2m away from anyone is impossible. To be honest, he’s had no contact with other kids for so many weeks now I just let him get on with it.

Looking forward to your update @Lily999 x

Lily999 · 02/06/2020 18:53

Hiya, everything is perfectly normal, I too loved hearing this word today for all the measurements. :) He was super active and waving at us.

October2020 · 02/06/2020 19:08

Wahey! Great news @Lily999. Have you started feeling more movements now? I've felt her a few times a day every day since Saturday which is super reassuring. Hopefully it won't be long for you if you haven't yet xxx

Viletta · 02/06/2020 22:13

@Lily999 congratulations! Seeing them is so nice!

Wimbledon1 · 02/06/2020 23:35

Congratulations @Lily999 - lovely stuff that your wriggler gave you a good show!

So glad everyone is doing well 🙂 @justkeeprunning5 did you say yours is another few weeks yet?

Sorry if I caused any confusion with the earlier message. You definitely can see small groups outside. I only meant we were breaking the rules because we did it nearly a month ago when it definitely was not allowed!

Personally despite the fact I am taking some small risks, I agree with @Viletta's DH that the main reason they are lifting things is economic not because it's under control. We are well behind most of the rest of the world with our cases, it's quite worrying. I'm already psychologically preparing for lockdown two by the end of the month 😬

justkeeprunning5 · 03/06/2020 11:30

Great news on your scan @Lily999. Isn’t it lovely just to be absolutely normal Smile.

@Wimbledon1 that is correct, not until the end of the month. It was me who suggested the sale at Seraphine, glad you found some bargains! I’ve ordered a few bits as it was too good an offer to resist, I’ve found myself daydreaming ‘oh, I can always wear it again with the next one’... Before drumming back into myself that there may not be another. Like the last 4 years were nothing at all Confused.

I had some strong round ligament pain Quite regularly a few weeks back but haven’t had any for a while now, have others found that this is something that comes and goes?

Chooklass · 03/06/2020 11:37

@justkeeprunning5 Yes - my ligament pain seems to be pretty bad for 3 or 4 days then go away for 10ish days, then comes back again!

@Lily999 Woop! Great news on the scan! X

OP posts:
October2020 · 03/06/2020 11:50

@justkeeprunning5 yep I have a few days where it is really bad and then not for a while. I was actually just thinking yesterday that I hadn't had any pains for a while !

Lily999 · 03/06/2020 12:20

Thank you @October2020, @Viletta, @Wimbledon1 and @justkeeprunninig5 yes, we are so relieved and happy now, got a 10seconds video as well the sonographer said they are doing this for partners on the NHS, I think it's very nice. They did not measure the cervix, I asked and she said "we don't do that", so that was it... Got my whooping cough vaccination yesterday as well, my arm is super sore, but at least it's done. It was so difficult to sleep on my side last night as I kept turning on my arm that is aching, pregnancy struggle is real haha!

I do feel movements now @october2020, started about a week ago and getting more and more obvious every day, I am pleased. I was told my placenta is not anterior, it is not blocking the cervix, she said it is on the top so I should be glad.
Doppler is already labelled ready to go back, I am pleased with our decision on that.

@justkeeprunning5 yes, I did have that, the round ligament pain did go away a bit before the movements started.

@wimbledon1 I saw a post on Facebook saying: "Lifting restrictions doesn't mean the virus is gone, it only means they have a bed for you at the ICU".
I say we stay careful to protect ourselves and our little precious babies. :)

Lily999 · 03/06/2020 12:21

Thanks @Chooklass our messages crossed. :)

Viletta · 03/06/2020 12:37

@justkeeprunning5 haha I keep thinking about the second one too! Look at us, IVF was such a fun journey why not do it again hey 😂

justkeeprunning5 · 03/06/2020 12:46

@Chooklass @October2020 @Lily999 thank you for the reassurance! Was saying to my husband that it’s nice it’s gone and then thought, ah, is that a bad sign?! Glad to hear it’s all pretty normal to come and go.

So lovely that you are feeling movements now @Lily999, that must be so exciting!

I agree @Wimbledon1 @Viletta opening up of things is economic and the virus is still very much there although trying to keep a bit of perspective and see people outside at a good distance every so often... bit it’s all very much personal preference. It’s really odd after staying in for so long and only going out for a daily walk to finally be seeing others. Personally I would probably give the meet ups a miss if it were just me (Aside from my parents who I know have only been out for walks since early March) but my husband is keen to get out a bit now and I feel mean keeping him on house arrest. It’s all so very tricky to balance.

justkeeprunning5 · 03/06/2020 13:06

@Viletta haha I know! I always used to wonder about the confidence of those who talk about number two before even having given birth to their first and here I am doing the same but with the added complexity of knowing I will probably need IVF unless I am one of the very very lucky ones... The brain can do strange things!

October2020 · 03/06/2020 13:31

I keep talking about number 2 as well, despite the fact that I'm fairly sure I never ever want to go through the first 12 weeks of a pregnancy ever, ever, EVER again - let alone IVF! Hormones are strange things Grin

FlapJackered · 03/06/2020 22:22

@October2020 @Chooklass thanks so much for the bra recommendations I have put an order in for the mumba and the bravado!

@Lily999 great to hear everything was well and so lovely that they let you have a video! ❤️

Is anyone else starting to get some hip/pelvis pain? The centre/back of my pelvis really aches after lying or sitting for too long.

I had a really vivid dream that I found out I was having a second baby while still pregnant with this one 😂 🙈 my mum was telling me off in my dream for being so stupid to think I couldn't get pregnant while being pregnant!
Like it would be that easy anyway! 🙄 🤦‍♀️

Wimbledon1 · 04/06/2020 08:46

Haha, I'm the opposite to everyone else - I keep telling this one it's going to be an only child! I'm 38 already and with this one having being conceived on the first round of IVF it feels like our little miracle baby and that will be that. I'm not sure psychologically if I'd cope with a second pregnancy anyway, I've been such an anxious mum to be 🙈

With the bras that are designed for nursing, did you order your pre pregnancy sizes or go up a bit? Seraphine tells you do to your pre pregnancy size but less sure about this?

And @FlapJackered - I don't have it regularly yet, but last week after the nine mile walk I mentioned it was really bad. I could barely walk the next day!

Chooklass · 04/06/2020 09:56

@Wimbledon1 I'm the same! Thinking of this as an only child for various reasons, not least because I'm 39 and this one took 3 years to make😂

The bravado bras I ordered are quite stretchy, so think they are meant to grow with me, which is good. Having said that, the first one I ordered was a small (when I was about 12wks) and that's a bit too snug now, think I got it too early. The medium has loads of give in it yet though so 🤞that will last all the way (and that I'll get back into the smaller one at some point in the future). It's so difficult not being able to try things on or get fittings!

OP posts:
Viletta · 04/06/2020 10:07

@FlapJackered let me know which bra you prefer when they arrive. I started having lower back aches as my back arches more and a bit of hip ache. The pregnancy pillow or having a thick pillow between my knees when sleeping helps.

@Wimbledon1 do you have anything in the freezer? I wish I had but the baby is our last frozen embryo. If it wasn't so expensive and fuffy, we traveled to Czech for it, I would do it again. I found IVF itself was less stressful than all the wait in-between cycles and wondering if we ever be parents. I think I'll be less stressed when trying for the second one if we ever decide to. On the other hand I think life with just one might be more suited for us, I'll return to work quicker, we'll return to adult life quicker. I was a single child and loved it! Still do!

October2020 · 04/06/2020 10:16

I bought the bravado bra but may also buy the mumba bra once I've seen what it is like! Thanks for the recommendation.

@Viletta agree that I found IVF less stressful than all the trying before. But the first 12 weeks of pregnancy was a whole different ball game! This child is likely to come out neurotic after being exposed to all my stress hormones!

Viletta · 04/06/2020 10:40

@October2020 they will be fine, you gave a great start with good nutrition and being healthy. Mothers are anxious and that is fine. I found it calming to be at home with the lockdown. I like that people don't see me and I can just relax. Only missing friends and family.

I've been craving strawberries so badly recently. Anyone has cravings?
