New thread for us all to keep in touch. Think we're all nearing the end of the first trimester or dipping our toes into the second ... how far we've come since the days of agonising over stims!

@FlapJackered congratulations! Little boy, so lovely! 💙

@Wimbledon1 haha what a choice of film 😂🙈🙈🙈 imsure your weight is fine, baby will always take what he or she needs.

I can't wait till my scan.. 2 weeks to go! I am not particularly worried and forget sometimes to read about my weekly progress. I just can't wait to see the babe and make sure everything's progressing well. Also need to start looking after my weight and do more exercises. There are days when I literally don't leave the sofa...

Chooklass · 05/05/2020 21:53

That's reassuring about sleeping on back @October2020 ! Every night I go to sleep on my side ... every morning I wake on my back 😂. I'm trying though!

I've got my whooping cough vaccination on Thurs - have you all booked yours? I was told to get it any time after 16wks. I'm kinda excited about going somewhere, even if it is just GP surgery in next village! Not been anywhere except house and walks since 12 wk scan!

What fitness class did you do @Wimbledon1? I really need to do more! I'm starting to get more concerned about being physically well prepared for labour/ recovery. Think because I'll be 39 by then it's playing on my mind a bit. X

Thank you everyone! 💙 😁 It's funny how real it all suddenly feels now!

@Lily999 good luck tomorrow with the appointment! Fingers crossed you get to hear the heartbeat.
We were told at the NiPT scan that she most likely wouldn't be able to tell the sex so if we wanted to know to wait for the blood test, however DH said apparently she was calling him 'he' the whole way through the scan, I didn't even notice! So she obviously could tell! I think it's more obvious with boys though!

Wishing you all the luck for tomorrow @October2020 ! I am sure it will go well and will be lovely to see the little one all safe and well! That's great that the consultant was so reassuring! I hope it has taken the edge off the worry for you.
That's good to know about the back thing, thanks for checking!

@Wimbledon1 good luck with the gp. It is really reassuring to hear the heartbeat as it's easy to forget there is something growing in there a lot of the time! I am sure all is well though!
Thanks for the warning about Marley and Me I have been warned about that film before as being incredibly sad so I think I will steer clear!! 😕
Good work on the maternity fitness, I feel like I might pass out just walking the dog up hills, but hopefully I will build some fitness up once these headaches piss off!

@Viletta I am with you on the fitness. I am so out of shape! Need to try and do something to change that in the next 5 months! 😬

Viletta · 05/05/2020 22:19

@Chooklass and @FlapJackered how about we all do an exercise tomorrow and report here? I'm planning to do one of those pregnancy Pilates or yoga on YouTube.

I was also trying to watch a feel good show and started watching This is Us. DO NOT WATCH this one as there are some serious sad things happening in s1e1.

Wimbledon1 · 05/05/2020 22:23

This is the company - one of the locations they do classes in 'real life' is very near me which is why they were on my radar. Now it's obviously only online and run for anyone nationally I think. There were about 20 people on the session I did the other day, it was good!

Eek @Chooklass - whooping cough. Good point, we're meant to book that ourselves are we? I better take a look at my file I think...!

Chooklass · 06/05/2020 06:04

@Wimbledon1 I was told to book it myself for after 16wks. It's probably different for all of us though - everything else seems to be!!!

DobbieFreeElf · 06/05/2020 06:56

My whooping cough jab gets done at my 20 week scan, there’s no rush, it needs to be done somewhere between 16 & 32 weeks so you might want to wait until after your next scan and if it doesn’t get done there ask your midwife 😊

I feel super unfit having gone from 5-6 exercise sessions a week to nothing when we started ivf and still being signed off from doing anything more than a walk! I’m not too worried about it, it’s the only time I can feel not guilty about weight gain and taking it easy!

Littlelot · 06/05/2020 08:15

Hi everyone, thank you so much for the support during my wobble last week. I gave myself a little breather and feel much better now. Scan 2weeks on Friday which isn’t really that far away - I’m very excited! Those who were asking about whether it’s possible to see sex as early as 16 weeks, with my ds we had a scan at 15weeks. He was doing forward rolls in my stomach at the time and the gender was so obvious the lady asked if we wanted her to tell us the sex and we all laughed because it had been so clear on the scan. So guess it very much depends on the baby’s position!

I’ve kept trying to exercise but feel so slow at running now - although I read that it doesn’t matter how slow I go, I should just aim to exercise for the same amount of time. I am really missing swimming at the moment - it’s the one exercise I’ve always found really relaxing.

With the sleeping on the back - just a thought, I’ve been positioning my pregnancy pillow behind my back so that I can lean back on it but don’t actually go flat on my back.

Glad everyone is doing well and feeling upbeat at the moment. It’s such an emotional rollercoaster isn’t it! Lovely news from people who’ve had recent appointments, scans and tests. Xx

Viletta · 06/05/2020 11:15

My midwife at 16w appointment asked if I wanted the whooping cough, I said sure and she booked it for me for 20w scan.

Lily999 · 06/05/2020 14:40

Hi Ladies! Had the 16weeks appointment that turned out to be a bit of a mess, but had a good ending.
So, showed up at the midwife for my appointment as I was told. Then she came out and asked if I am Laura, so I said no... she told me she can't see my appt. in there at all and I should go back on Friday. I was so gutted and came home, then called up the maternity triage and said I don't understand what's happened as I am sure I didn't make this up I remember for this appointment I wrote it down. She said yes, she can see it in their system and apparently the midwifes didn't register it in theirs. I said I only leave the house if it's absolutely necessary and sitting in the GP's waiting room was far from ideal in the current situation. She was very apologetic and said if I can get to the triage they will see me today. So we drove up there and they took me in right away, we listened to the heartbeat and it was very strong and 158/min, she said everything is where and how it should be. She was so nice and kept apologising for putting me through this stress that when I heard the heartbeat I couldn't keep it together any longer and started crying. She was super sweet and it was all good at the end. :)

Wimbledon1 · 06/05/2020 15:27

Oh my god @Lily999 what a morning!! That's so bad at normal times but forgetting people and making them come twice in the current situation is terrible. Ugh. But it sounds like they really made up for it. I don't blame you at all for crying after all that!!
Glad the little one is doing well and strong heartbeat. Congratulations 😊

@October2020 you have an appointment today too don't you? Hope that goes well (but with less initial stress!)

I have solved my dilemma after speaking with the GP. She agreed that if I was worried about not growing, the options of waiting until the end of May or going to A&E weren't appropriate so I'm going in to the surgery tomorrow morning and she's going to do a few checks. Including the heartbeat because she has a Doppler! It's one of these mega GP surgeries with 12 doctors and you get a different one each time, but I managed to get my appointment with that practice lead who is super experienced and was very confident she could give me a good check-over. So I'm back onto "god bless the NHS" today 🙃

Lily999 · 06/05/2020 16:15

Thanks @Wimbledon1 it was indeed stressful, but all good at the end. :) Glad to hear you managed to book one for tomorrow, hope yours will be without the drama.

@Chooklass I was walking around the house and the garden today feeling like a diva as it was the first time since my 12weeks scan that I put on proper clothes and a bra haha, it was such an amazing feeling!

@October2020 hope everything went well today and you saw the baby, can't wait to hear the details!

@Littlelot that's exactly what the nurse recommended at the triage, to use a pillow as then I won't be on my side, but not entirely on my back either.

@Viletta I know what you mean as I watched This is us long before my pregnancy and it gets very very sad sometimes. I remember during the 2ww we were told to watch comedies and uplifting stories, but some of the best shows are dramas so I ended up watching The marvellous Mrs Maisel and Gilmore girls, but even cried on that sometimes. :)

October2020 · 06/05/2020 21:04

Congrats @Lily999 after a stressful time!

All good here... and it's a girl!!!

DobbieFreeElf · 06/05/2020 21:15

💖💖💖 congratulations 💖💖💖

Viletta · 07/05/2020 07:38

@Lily999 congratulation on healthy baby! Must be such a relief! I am 18w and can't wait for my next scan as I don't feel any movements.

@October2020 aww little girl!! Wonderful news and congratulations!

Wimbledon1 · 07/05/2020 10:20

Aah, lovely @October2020! Really glad all is well, are you feeling better after this week's appointments?

So one girl and one boy so far. 😊 Is anyone else not finding out? I was quite resolute but now genders are starting to be discovered I wonder if I'll get more tempted!

Can't believe we're here already. When you first find out you are pregnant and wonder whether to find out, you just think that feels so far into the future that you'll concentrate just on getting there healthy. And here we all nearly are. Eek! 🙃

justkeeprunning5 · 07/05/2020 10:32

So many updates the last few days! Great news @Lily999 @October2020.

@Wimbledon1 we have always said we won’t find out either, always seen it as the last great surprise in life but have to say seeing people find out is giving me a wobble too but think we will stand firm on the not finding out especially if my husband isn’t allowed into the 20 week scan (which will be at 21, almost 22 weeks - long time to go!)

October2020 · 07/05/2020 10:57

@Wimbledon1 feeling much more reassured, yeah. I think after being so mollycoddled through IVF (remember all the scans and the daily phone calls after egg collection etc) I think I just need the reassurance of medical professionals to tell me all will be okay. The consultant was particularly reassuring- it is still a high risk pregnancy but there is lots she can do and is doing. I've already had a letter through about swabs and samples I need doing at 17/18 weeks ready for my 19 week scan when I will see the consultant again. Good to feel like they're on the ball!

@justkeeprunning5 we definitely wouldn't have found out the gender if we had had to do it at 20 weeks and husband wasn't allowed in. Just doesn't seem fair! I've always known I've wanted to know as soon as possible but think the surprise of finding out at the moment they enter the world is lovely too Smile

Chooklass · 07/05/2020 11:58

@Wimbledon1 and @justkeeprunning5 we're wanting a surprise too!

Lovely to hear all is well @Lily999 and @October2020 💕

Had my whooping cough vaccination this morning, then midwife appointment over phone. She promised I'd get seen in person for 22 wk appointment as they want to check BP, pee and listen to baby's heartbeat at that stage.

Just been added to local facebook group for pregnant ladies and a whatsapp group for mums due Sept/ Oct in our area! I hope they are as lovely and supportive as you lot! It's a lovely idea and will be great to have friends at a similar stage. Our local midwife organises it all - is there anything similar in your areas?

I'm feeling a little bit wary though as the infertility journey/ IVF give a different slant to pregnancy I think, maybe I'm being unfair, but I find it harder to relate to some of the non-infertility pregnancy groups on here 🤷‍♀️. Will see how it goes!

October2020 · 07/05/2020 13:04

@Chooklass I'm the same. I'm very nervous about nct classes even because I definitely don't see taking this baby home as a given whereas I know that is a supremely negative view lol. I'm sure they will be lovely- and we are still here!

Chooklass · 07/05/2020 14:46

Yeh, I think we are more negative because of our experiences, sadly! Might be quite good for us to socialise with 'normal' pregnant people too! 😂 I also think far more people have had fertility struggles than is immediately obvious. (Though I did chat to an annoying girl at work who constantly whinged about what a struggle they had conceiving and it turned out it only took them 4 months 🙄😂)

OP posts:
justkeeprunning5 · 07/05/2020 15:24

@Chooklass @October2020 exactly the same here, I’m only looking a week ahead which i know is very negative and that we are over the most hazardous hurdle of 12 weeks. Have just made an enquiry with NCT to try and work against this feeling, I know they get booked up early.
