Oh and we only have one toilet!

And J20, in Tesco I feel permanently endangered by passing trolleys, baskets and waving arms. Poor bump!

alicet · 27/09/2007 19:43

Choc really sorry to hear about your friend. Devastating news. Fingers crossed though that its caught at an early stage... Thinking of you and him. Try and relax this evening - sorry to hear also that work is manic but I guess that kind of pales into insignificance when you hear news about your friend like that.

Hello everyone else...

WinnieThePooh · 27/09/2007 20:14

Sorry to hear anout your friend CHOC.

I am going to get some help with the housework tomorrow. MIL is coming over to take DD to school then will help me. I will ask her to to DD's bedroom and playroom while I get on with my bedroom dressing romom and ensuite. She may even do the ironing for me while I get my office done.

ess · 27/09/2007 21:01

Hi all. Thanks WTP for your number- hopefully you will be hearing from me before too long but DD was 8 days late so I may be a while yet!
Well...the Clary Sage oil did nothing but the chocolate made me feel better. DH has now got the virus too and is being ill as only a man can. DD isnt going to sleep so i've put them both in our bed!
Phoned MW today as have had horrid pain next to belly button for few weeks ands now aching pubic bone. She said the pain at top was internal bruising and at bottom was baby pressing on a nerve. Thats alright then!!
J2O- I've had D word (can't spell it either) for a few days too but no signs yet. Probably a side effect of the curry I had beforehand.

ess · 27/09/2007 21:07

Oh and forgot to ask, those of you on the Raspberry leaf tabs, how many are you taking? I've been taking 6 a day at 640mg each. Is that too much? Thats what it said to take on the bottle.

unicorn · 27/09/2007 21:15

Hi all...
Sorry about your pal Choc
Good news Collywobbles! and Congratulations Jersey and Kezza and MissNatalie.

Ess What exactly do you do with the clary sage - does it go in the bath? Vaguley remember it from dd1.
I think I have sussed the sleeping issue (sort of) If I stay up til midnight I can sleep through without wee wake ups... if I go any earlier I wake up twice/three times.
So lots of late nights for me!

More monitoring tomorrow, but babe seems to be moving around ok, so not too worried.

Wish I had some energy though.

Housework? bah!

J2OBABY · 27/09/2007 21:34

hi all, just a quickie as i'm broswing on the net! Ess, i'm taking the same-not doing no good though!

anyone have any reccomendations for slings?

J2OBABY · 27/09/2007 21:36

choc-so sorry to hear that, hope it is easily treatable.

mrsF-what do you do with 5 toilets?! bet you go through a lot of toilet duck!

ho to everyone else

orangecat · 27/09/2007 21:37

Colly - great news your placenta moved, mine did too , although they did still say it is low (3.6cm away, and under the 5cm they classify as low). But hopefully will all be ok on the day
Miss N - I wasn't around when you originallt posted but MASSIVE congrats (been there myself...)
Kezza - Big Congrats on Leo. Do give us second timers top tips on how to cope with 2. Can't quite get my head round logisitics of bath/ bedtime...
Choc - so sorry re: your friend. Sending lots of hugs

Made 2 of 4 blinds for DD new room today, so feeling v pleased with myself. With the carpet (finally) coming next Tues, there's a chance it will be sorted before arrival of number 2.

Is anybody getting concerned about logistics, especially in light of these speedy arrivals?? Had been totally focused on how far away childcare for DD is (round the corner for friends and then 40 mins for family to take over). But then suddenly realised today that the bigger problem is if DH is at work - he's at least 1 hour from home, and that's not if he's in a meeting in Sheffield. What the hell do I do if he is too far away?!! I guess call an ambulance? Scary thought doing it without DH... Anyway, I'm sure this is all last minute hormones stuff. Have not been thinking about any of this until now, and now just keep thinking doom labour scenarios

ess · 27/09/2007 21:41

Orangecat- my DH works away a lot too. He was in Dorset today but luckily nothing happened and Portsmouth tomorrow. I'm lucky that I have family 20 mins away though.
Would a taxi be quicker than ambulance if you felt ok?I'm sure you'll get a good inkling that labours started before you need to get to hospital. Sure it will all be fine for you.

orangecat · 27/09/2007 21:48

ess - I'm sure it's just hormones making me panic. Yes, taxi probably a bit more sensible than ambulance!! Doh

ess · 27/09/2007 21:54

Might be an idea to pin numbers of several companies on the fridge now. Don't want to be rummaging through yellow pages in a panic and knowing the numbers are there will probable reassure you. I am a fanatical list maker!!

WinnieThePooh · 27/09/2007 21:55

My DP is in Hereford tomorrow, but Inlaws are only a mile away. I would call them them to take me to hospital, then DP's work to get a message to him, then arrange a school friend to get DD from school.

orangecat · 27/09/2007 21:58

Good idea ess. Was thinking that there is a company at the station 3 mins walk away, but perhaps I won't want to be walking!

ess · 27/09/2007 22:22

This was so much easier first time round. I remember DH buying me a 1,000 piece jigsaw to help me pass the time went I went overdue with DD. Now all I have time for is a 16 piece one with DD!

MrsFish · 28/09/2007 08:08

Morning all

J20- We don't use all the toilets, we use the one downstairs, our en-suite which is new, and the family bathroom. The other is in the guest bedroom, so hardly gets used, and we are getting rid of the fifth which used to be the shower room, but we don;t need now we have our en-suite

Regarding logistics of birth, I'm worried about that too, I hope it doesn't happen tonight, everyone who is on standby have decided to have other plans

ChocolateHobnob · 28/09/2007 08:31

I can see that logistically it must be way harder with a second child! I hadn't thought of the jigsaw; think I might get one. I like jigsaws and never do them except at Xmas when visiting my parents! Guess I won't get chance to do one for a while after lo comes!

I think I did something to my calf yesterday - it went achey and couldnt walk forwards downstairs last night. It's definitely better today but still wobbly. Another weird pregnancy thing..?! I think it might have stemmed from an awful lot of standing up this week.

Unicorn, how do you stay up till midnight??? I am always dying to fall asleep, but then I wake up for the inevitable loo break and after that can't get back to sleep and lo has a little party, shifting around and being a general night owl.

Working from home today so will probably be popping in here for breaks

WinnieThePooh · 28/09/2007 08:37

Morning everyone.

I have been up and dressed since 7.20am. MIL is taking DD to school for me at the moment. I have already stripped my bed and got the bedding in the washing machine. I will get DD's bedding washed when ours has finished.

When she gets back we are going doen into town as I need to go to the post office and she needs to take something back to BHS.

Am going to make a start on my office first as it is the worst.

Have a good day everyone.

WinnieThePooh · 28/09/2007 08:39

On the sleep front. I find that if I got to bed early I wake up several times, but the past few nights when I have gone to bed about 11.30-12 I have slept through until about 5.30.

MrsFish · 28/09/2007 08:40

After a very lazy day yesterday I am going to get stuff done this morning... about to take ds to kindergarten which then gives me 2 and a half hours to do some stuff before going to pick him up again. Lo last night was moving around more than ever and it was really uncomfortable, did anyone notice increased movemement in lo before labour began???

J2OBABY · 28/09/2007 09:29

wishful thinking mrsF?

well, your all very busy today, i'm in the middle of doing my roots.

my fingers are really hurting today, had a go on the brestpump last night, and still nothing happening, my bump seems to have moved back up too, grrr!

whats the betting lo comes exactly a week late, when it'll be too late to go to the fair.

anyone got a baby bjorn carrier? are they any good?

Collywobbles · 28/09/2007 09:32

Morning All - a nice day in store for me. I've got an old school friend and her 9 month old coming for the day from Leeds. She's even brining lunch with her!

I'm slightly concerned that my house isn't even close to being toddler proof -not sure if she's crawling yet or not...

I'm another late one for going to bed. I don't tend to go till about 11.30-12 but then I do generally sleep through till about 4 or 5. Also as I don't have any other children yet, I can then stay in bed till 9 if I want!

Have a lovely day everyone.

ejt1764 · 28/09/2007 10:12

Morning all ...

well, possibly my last chance to have a lie-in scuppered ... the cm who takes ds to school phoned this morning - her ds has been very sick overnight - and although she'd still prepared to take ds, I don't want him exposed to any d&v virus ... however, as they're in the same class, he's probably been exposed anyway!

So I got to take ds to school this morning - he looked a bit forlorn, as the cm's ds and he are the best of friends!! He gave me a little wave that nearly broke my heart!! (all done for effect - he's a real little charmer!

I've finished the baby's quilt - just now in fact, have taken some photos, and am now going to have a go at putting my profile together! Will let you know when it's done!

missnatalie - fantastic news about your pg!

orangecat - beware of calling a taxi rather than an ambulance, you may find that they taxi company will refuse to take you if you're in labour! Having said that, it's unlikely that everything will kick off that quickly!

choc - hope your calf feels ok - I find that if I've have a particularly nasty cramp in the night, then I can still feel it all the next day ...

wtp - don't go mad!!

mrsfish - my lo has quietened right down - I got quite worried about it, but the mw reassured me when she saw me the other day that this is completely normal when you get to full-term!

colly - hiya!!

where's alice this morning?

Now going to do my profile, before going to the acupuncturist later on ...

orangecat · 28/09/2007 11:06

Hi all

Choc - sounds like cramp to me too. Got it first time round at night a lot - v painful. Somehow now I can feel it coming on and move my leg to avoid it, but apparently tonic water is supposed to be good.

j20 - I have baby bjorn (active). Found it to be excellent, and will be using again this time round. However, as with all these things, only ever used that one so have nothing to compare it to!! Once you work it out, it's easy to get baby in and out. And versatile in terms of being backward facing when baby little, then forward facing when LO gets bigger.

Have lost nesting instinct today, so will be relaxing (well, as much as DD will allow). Did all tidying yesterday, so might pop off for a nap now while she is sleeping.

Hope everybody has a nice day xxx

ejt1764 · 28/09/2007 11:18

I've done my profile!!! - and I've put some piccies on ...

Ok, now my list is officially finished ... I have no more to do [gulp] ... think I might go and eat some chocolate!
