Ok folks here is the new thread. I have put it into ante natal again for now, we can always start a new one in the post natal forum once we have all popped.

GOOD MORNING Everyone Hi Emj - hope things start for you soon

We got home from hospital last night, they were so busy and understaffed we weren't discharged until 7.45pm, I waited most of the day for the paedetrician to check Ben to give him the all clear.

Well, what a few days... as kinki mentioned from my text Ben decided not to wait till friday... I spent thursday afternoon doing last minute cleaning and washing etc, then settled down to a nice dinner and relaxing evening intending to get a good nights sleep for friday. Me and dh were just lying in bed having a little chat before sleep when at 10:50 I had a big popping sensation, it was so severe I jumped and even dh heard it,he was 'what was that?' my waters didn't go straight away, I just lay in bed for 5 mins wondering what to do, then got up to the loo and the waters started trickling and I got a few period pain aches which lasted a few seconds but were quite mild, seeing as this was how Sam started we didn't hang around too much longer, we phoned the babysitter who was on a night out and she managed to get a taxi, and get to us within 20 mins which was great. We were in the car and on the way to hospital by 11.30pm.

Then started labouring whilst waiting to be checked out, the surgeon on duty didn't believe I was breech even though I had told him I only had the scan confirmed 10 hours earlier, he then did an internal which bloody hurt like hell, he must have shoved his whole hand up there then my waters really went, but I had to put wet trousers on again to walk across to the delivery suite where he preceded to scan me again to confirm the breech

Theatre was already being used so I had to wait an hour before I went in, by which time I was contracting every 5 mins and it was getting to the stage where gas and air just weren't cutting it everyone then kept telling me that they don't like breech people going into labour... well excuse me but it wasn't my fault they were too busy to do it straight away it took them a while to then put the epidural in because i was having constant contractions, but blimey the relief when it finally worked was amazing, no more pain, but how weird to be numb from the boobs down Oh and they put the catheter in before the epidural it wasn't that bad actually, just a bit uncomfortable.

Was then wheeled into theatre and the deed done, I couldn't believe how quick it actually all happened once they got going, I was a little miffed that it was an emergency in the end though, because they wouldn't let me see him being born, and I didn't get skin to skin contact, he was cleaned up and checked and then given to dh to hold whilst I was being stitched up. I was then wheeled into a ward at 3am that morning, got no sleep at all that night. In fact since thursday morning up until last night I only managed about 10 hours kip altogether and was so exhausted last night it was untrue.

I started off bf for the first 24 hours, but became so sore so quick and I was just too tired to cope with the extra pain of that on top of the cs that I admit I gave up and have been ff him since. I feel so much happier having made that choice, only problem is my boobs are like Pam Anderson and are rock hard and painful, although they do feel a bit better this morning so it looks like they may start abating a bit now, but then again I have had 48 hours of painful boobs, so I am expecting them to get better now

Sorry for the long post, I'm making the most of the quiet before Ben wakes up which he is just starting to do and Sam being at nursery.

DH did the night feeds last night, so I managed a good six hours sleep and feel so much better for it. My mum is coming up later today and said she will do the night feeds for the next couple of nights, so I can catch up totally in readiness for next week

Well I could carry on boring you for a while but Ben is awake and being grumpy so will have to go for a bit will post some pics up soon

Blimey mrsf, you're sounding a bit chirpy considering its only been 4 days! Well done you and big congratulations! I hope those boobs settle down quickly for you. And that your recovery is swift and painfree. I hope you get some decent sleep too. So what does ds1 make of his little bro? Can't wait to see the photos.

Hello emj!

Wow MrsF, you are very organised - I couldn't get near the laptop in the first few days when I had Cerys, hats off to you! Thank you for sharing what happened, you've inspired me to write down my story too as I never got the chance earlier on...

Just thought I'd pop in to say HI to emj and hope you're relaxing even though it is really hard bless you!

OK, here it is being as I never got the chance to record it before - I've copied this to both threads...

(warning - long post)

So, I'd been on mn all day (discovered Hopey and I both have a love for Christopher Reeves btw - I'll always remember that because I got all emotional!). I was having a few strong bh's but didn't twig they could have been something! We were just sitting down to X-Factor and I had just made all the sandwiches for the finger food when I felt a pop in my bump - felt like somebody snapped a twig or something! Realised my waters had broken so rang the ward. It had blood in it so they said to get up there asap. I managed to get up the stairs without too much of a gush and was sitting on the toilet removing wet clothing while DH stood on the stairs asking what he should do. He got some surgical gloves on to help gather my wet clothes and stood on the landing asking the kids to get some carrier bags - they thought I was having the baby on the bathroom floor bless them!

Mum arrived and we set off for the hospital using a plastic tablecloth to protect her leather seats just incase (not a christmas one though ). I started to get tightenings as we pulled up. Got into one of the rooms when I had a massive gush and they were all running around pressing buttons and all sorts because it had lots of blood in it! They did a quick scan to check baby wasn't breach, examined me, then wheeled me into a delivery room - I was on g&e by this point and wasn't dilated. They put a canular in my left wrist that was really painful and akward but I managed to hold the g&e thing with it. That stupid blood pressure thing kept blowing up too hard on my right arm and it really hurt because of my carpal tunnel so I told the nurse to 'get that f*king thing off my arm' which she promptly did (bearing in mind, I NEVER swear in front of my mum!). They were intending to examine me at 1am but I INSISTED they examine me beforehand as I was sure I was dilated. When the (crappy) nurse told me I was only 3cms I screamed out "B**OCKS, that can't be right" and was furious with her! I was paranoid about needing the toilet as I remembered that when I had DD1, the sensation was very similar to thinking I was going to wet myself - they had to keep unhooking me from the monitor to let me go to for a wee. The nurse kept telling me to lie on my side but I kept telling her I couldn't move - I don't think she'd even heard of spd tbh!! When she told me to put my heels together for an examination, I screamed at her that my pelvis was going to snap in two and to shut up!!!

Finally got some pethadine at some point (had lost all track of time by then!) and I remember telling my mum that I hadn't been stoned for ages . I then asked her if she was there when I was born . I kept ringing up DH, first time to tell him he'd love the g&e and that I loved him; second time to tell him to come down there so I could kick him in the balls!

Throughout all of this, I was giving mum a list of things that needed to be done/cleaned in the house - I truly didn't expect to have the baby 3 weeks early and was in a panic because nothing was ready!!!

The rest is history - Cerys arrived at 5.34am and according to mum it took about 8 pushes to get her out. DH was there within 5/10 minutes. I did tear but only 1 inch apparently so it didn't need stitching.

I'm now having a little weep as I love thinking about when she was born. No matter what has happened since then, nobody can take that away from me. Am I the only one who goes over it in their heads? Just keen to know if I'm a bit weird or not?

Hi PLP - nope, I keep going through the birth too

Ds seems fine with Ben so far, he keeps stroking his head, and is eager to help, although he hasn't had much chance at the moment as we didn't get back till late last night, and he was at nursery this morning, and this afternoon I have had both my mum and mil here to occupy him my mum has come to stay till friday and has offered to do the night feeds whilst she is here, so we can catch up,which is fab DH has been ill, his stomach ulcer has come back, due to stress and drinking too much, I've told him he'll have to stop drinking then as there isn't room for both of us to be incapacitated

Mw came today and warned me to take it easy, she must have cottoned on to the fact that I am not resting enough, it's so easy to do when you are feeling relatively well, oops, but as she kept saying, a c-section is not just another way of giving birth it is major surgery, so I am going to milk it as much as I can

Good afternoon all!! Just read PLP and MrsFish's birth stories and I too always think about my labour so thought i would share my experience with you too
Well, my DH and I decided to do some last minute shopping the night before my parents arrived from australia, wondering around the supermarket I was egtting the odd tightening, enough to make me stop but nothing regular, got home sat down and everthing settled. Then by about 1am they were coming evry 10mins and keeping me awake, DH kept asking if i was ok, i kept telling him to go back to sleep which he duly did!! I phoned my midwife at 7am, was told to take paracetamol, have a bath and eat!! Then at 8am mum and dad arrived - what a relief!! went to the hospital at 2pm, was 2-3cms so decided to use the pool. The pool was great until Arben decided to go to the posterior position i cant believe how quickly the pain got worse, literally from one contraction to the next, i was inconsolable! Examined again, at 7.30pm, only 3-4cms, so decided to have an epidural -pure bliss!!! Plodded along til 4am by which stage I was really quite unwell, had a high temp, rigours and completely out of it, Arben was also getting very distressed, his heart rate was 190-200bpm before he was born He had to have some fetal blood samples to see how distressed he was, absolutely horrible, was decided that he had to be delivered there and then so thankfully as i was 10cms they did a ventouse delivery. It only took a couple of pushes to get hime out and as soon as he was born i felt so much better, temp went down, stopped shaking etc. It was all totally worth it, perfect timing for mum and dad plus DH never fainted once i am so proud of him.
There you go, sorry for being a long post but wanted to share with you my different birthing experince

Hello all, thanks so much for still posting and saying hi, your birth stories were great to read although I'm getting a bit nervous about Friday now. I have given up all hope of labour starting on its own in the next day and a bit. I just really hope that being induced isn't as bad as it sounds, I have read some stuff about it being even more painful than usual... eeek. Anyway, you never know, the next post from me might be on the PN thread... I do hope so!

just a quick message to say good luck for Friday emj - hope it all goes well !! I was induced with DD2 and it was quick but no more painful than with natural delivery of DD1 so don't worry I'm sure you'll be fine. Looking forward to seeing you on the PN chat and seeing pics of your new lo !

Hello all, sorry for the delay in posting, been very tired and busy with lots of visitors!

Baby Lily arrived on Saturday weighing 8lb 1 She's absolutely beautiful and I'm so glad she's finally here. Had one dose of prostin Friday lunchtime, contractions started in the evening, waters broke at 12.45 at night and Lily was born 4.39 am.
So far, her hobbies include hiccuping, being awake between 1 and 7 am and looking amazed at everything.

Thank you all so much for being so lovely and supportive when I was going crazy at being so overdue, you're all stars. I hope you and all your babies are well too.
