Ok folks here is the new thread. I have put it into ante natal again for now, we can always start a new one in the post natal forum once we have all popped.

:D Could have used that for a thread title.... Once you pop you just can't stop

Congratulations Rin23 - too right you should be proud of yourself

HammerHead - I'm still here and waiting, due date is Sunday, am taking the raspberry leaf tea, have had pineapple but am sick of it already, going out with DH for a curry and a movie tomorrow night last chance to go out for a while, so might sneak in a walk tomorrow afternoon too to see if I can get this bump to drop a bit, and have also been getting jiggy although how I am managing it is beyond me

Had another go at updating the list. Congratulations to Lisa, Rin, Clainne, Holly, Poto, Canmum, Nettee, Gils and Tod. The babies are coming 2 or 3 a day! I see we are continuing the trend of fabulous names for our lo's. Canmum, my gorgeous little goddaughter is Anna Elizabeth too, I've always loved her name.

I'm thinking of all you ladies still waiting for your babies. Hopefully it won't be too long for you now. Hope us droning on about our babies isn't making things worse for you. I'm thinking of you today in particular because today is Liam's due date. So had things been different, I would have known just how you're feeling. But as things are, he's now over 4 weeks old and a strapping 7lb-er.

Anyway good luck to everyone. I'm looking forward to hearing more anouncements soon.

dal21 · 25/09/2007 14:20

Kinki - well done you!

well I am very happy today - ryan already weighs 6lbs 10oz, so has gained tons of weight. makes the bfeeding feel totally worthwhile! hormones also seem to have settled down and am feeling more like me as each day goes by.
for all those csections out there - I rang my ins company and fortunately they have no restrictions on how soon i can drive - so am not planning to wait a whole 6 weeks. hoorah! not planning on any long drives either but now means when DH goes back to work next week - I am not just left with what is on my doorstep. Planning on making a couple of trips with DH this week to build my confidence up.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

ccpink · 25/09/2007 15:38

Congrat's to all new mummies
Hammerhead - I'm still here too Officially overdue now but THINK I had a show this morning after meandering round town for a couple of hours to encourage stirrings. TMI alert: there was no blood but very thick mucusy. Like to think it was anyway as at least it's a bit of progress.
Fish - I still can't be too desperate as can't face sex. My pelvis kills now baby has dropped right down. However I've been on Indian,Chinese, pineapple, walks and even self love. I'm going to try b.job next !!! Surely then...
purple - hope everything goes well with your little angel. Will be keeping her in mind
Love to all others, especially those as frantic as me to get these babies out!!!

JemimaPuddleduck07 · 25/09/2007 16:39

Hi everyone and big congratulations to all the new babies xxxx.

My gorgeous Tallulah Lauren arrived on 13th September. The labour mostly went ok except the last stages where the placenta came away from the uterus. A little bit scary but the doctors were fab and got Tallulah out by ventouse really quickly after that. DP tells all his friends that it was like a scene from pulp fiction but at the end of the day Tallulah was absolutely fine and that's all that mattered.

So far she has been an absolute dream and just eats and sleeps (i'm sure i'm tempting fate writing this...), but after DD1 it's such a shock to the system to have a calm baby that I can't believe my luck! My parents took us out for a fantastic 5 hour lunch at a hotel on Sunday and she didn't stir once!

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting for their babies to arrive xxxxx

Chattyhan · 25/09/2007 17:50

Congratulations TOD, Clainne, Rin (someone else with a due date baby!)and Jemimapuddleduck

Emj - i did chuckle at you being 29+1! Hang in there won't be long now

PLP - nice to have an update and glad things are going well for cerys. at your DP's job i hope he finds something soon - thinking of you all and hope the check up goes well xx

Alex is doing really well - 9 days old and we registered the birth today. He's demand b-feeding every 2 hours day and night for 15mins - it was every 3 hrs last week and i'm hoping it slows off soon as i'm exhausted! He was weighed on day five and was 7lb 13oz so only lost 1 oz! Ds1 was a real guzzler and fed every 1-2 hours for 45 mins so this is easier! But i crave more than 2 hrs sleep in a row! Other than that feel like i've recovered. Tummy has gone down very quickly and blood loss seems to be stopping already and no stiches means down there feels normal! Being discharged from midwife tomorrow

MrsMar · 25/09/2007 18:42

hello everyone, our internet has been down for days so haven't been able to post, congratulations to the new arrivals, i hope everyone is settling in happily with their LOs and my sympathies to those still waiting! i can't imagine being pg now, it seems so far away now, only 12 days but it might as well be 12 years!

canadianmum and Rin, glad you had a good experience of St George's. I think my experience was pretty good too, of course I've got nothing to compare with it, but on the whole I didn't have any complaints (except about the disgusting food, yeuch! but then that's all hospitals isn't it?)

i'm quite of those in skinny pre pg jeans.... i'm still in my maternity ones though they are really falling down... i'm a bit nervous about trying any of my pre pg clothes as my scar is still a bit sore. the mw said i should wear skirts for the next week to allow the air to get to it and I should even go commando. I've done the skirts for a few days now (even gone commando ) but it's getting a bit chilly now. the infection is pretty much cleared up, but my scar isn't as neat as it was which is a shame. oh well my days as a bikini model are over

talking of weight, i weighed myself the day before I had luca and then weighed myself a couple of days ago and i lost a stone and a half in ten days! Now that's what I call weight loss, shame it won't stay like that! I've still got loads of water retention, so maybe I'll pee out another stone over the next week I'm hardly eating anything, i'm much less hungry than when i was pregnant, and i'm just not finding the time to eat, luca is always awake and hungry when i'm trying to eat so I gulp down whatever's near and then forget about food for ages again. I will be made up if i lose loads of weight

One miserable thing for me is that my heartburn is back!! Pah! I was told that sort of thing would all go after I had the baby. It must be my terrible eating habits that's causing it. I'm back to munching the remegels every half hour! still.... how nice is it to have a good long pee, not have those pathetic pregnant dribbles, and not have to go every twenty minutes??

I'm so glad everyone else agrees with me about throwing away those silly baby books, i agree totally that we can't spoil our babies enough! I'm going to follow the advice of the fantastic Tanya Byron and not even try and get any kind of routine until at least 6 weeks, so that we can get to know luca properly. I already know he hates baths, crikey he just screamed the place down having his first bath! Oh well, he's like his daddy, not a water baby!

talking of routines and so on, is anyone going to watch that programme on channel 4 tonight, bringing up baby? despite my determination not to be told how to bring up my baby, could be interesting...

it's really great to hear everyone else's experiences of breast feeding. I had absolutely no idea, still don't really. I'm really winging it! I didn't even know how long a feed should be, I was doing an hour and a half every two hours at first!!! My friend who's a nurse, said that as long as his poo is yellowish, then he's getting hind milk, so now we're aiming for about 40 mins every 3 hours, though he occasionally goes longer overnight. I didn't even realise it was ok to give the occasional ten minute top up feed, I usually do that to comfort him when he's freaking out (like after his first bath etc ) and I'm also letting him cluster feed in the evening, about 30 mins every 1 and half to two hours, which i think helps him through the night.

dal - did the hot water bottle trick work for you? I'm still doing it cos i'm convinced he's happier being put in to a warm bed. i'm ever so slightly paranoid about him getting too hot, so I'm letting the bed cool slightly before I put him in it, so it just feels body warm.

PLP - glad to hear cerys is doing so well. It must be such a worry for you to have to face going through an op with her so young, but if she's thriving that's fantastic!

Oh i hope everyone with nasty BHs and contractions get their babies soon, and much happiness and blissful gazing at their babies to those who've already popped!

Take care xxx

Welcome to baby Paul and well done for being so patient while the rest of us popped around you. Hope you are feeling well and look forward to details.

Thanks Mrs Fish for letting us know - perhaps you will be next?

Went for a long(ish) walk yesterday for the first time as a family of five and think i overdid it a bit - scar and tummy very achy today so me and Millie chilling at home today while DH takes the DTs on an adventure. She was very hungry last night feeding every two hours - greedy guzzler, and is still in a milk stupour now! .

Have a good one. x

MrsFish · 26/09/2007 13:36

Well I am now on phase 2 of project labour

Been to the park all morning with ds, so done the walk. Now having a cup of Raspberry leaf tea. Also booked an MOT for the car for Monday so surely that will mean it will happen over the weekend Off out to the cinema tonight and a hot curry, then if I am not totally knackered, maybe a session between the sheets If none of that works, I'll just have to wait.Got my next mw appt next thursday so if it hasn't kicked off by then she'll give me a membrane sweep. Whichever way it happens, not long to go now

This topic has gone awfully quiet, looks like everyone is busy with babes

OP posts:
dal21 · 26/09/2007 13:54

Hey everyone!

MrsF - we are starting to post between here and postnatal threads when we get a chance, so if this one starts quietening down, come and find us there.

MrsM - I weighed myself today also (really should not have bought a set of scales the other day) and have lost half the weight already. Down to 10 stone! Only a stone to go - will be happy if lose another couple of lbs whilst bfeeding, wont try to lose it all finished with that. Havent tried the hot water bottle thing, realised that his sudden restlessness coincided with his needing lots of feeding which i then read was a growth spurt. Since that 24 hr period passed, he has gone back to settling quickly after feeds.

Hugs to everyone else, congrats to the arrivals!

thomcat · 26/09/2007 14:20

Hi all

Hope one is ok. Massive congrats to all those who have had their babies

I had a girl, no name yet, on Monday at 4.40pm.

She's fab and it was an amazing birth, with a really enjoyable, chilled, happy, positive labour.

No pain relief needed at any stage. Truly had an amazing day and it was the best feeling in the world.

I could feel my pelvis expanding, feel her moving down with each contraction, the sun was shining, I had my man, the wonderful Marslady and a lovely midwife and it was really enjoyable.

Don't want to bore you but if you want details then here you go......

DP left for work and not a minute later I felt the pop as I sat forward and my waters went.
I straddled this tub of washing in my room and got on the phone with DD2standing pointing saying 'oh look mummy wee wee'. 17 missed calls later and I began to panic he'd get on the fast train into Farringdon and miss the birth!
SO - I threw on this black velvet robe thing which is slashed to both thighs, donned my flip flops, tore out in the rain, banged on the neighbours door and shouted at her 'waters have broken, DP is headed into town, watch the girls' and ran to the car.
I drove to the station like a mad woman, drove into the no entry bit, left car parked madly outside station and ran in. Shouted at the guard -my waters are breaking and my husband is on the platform, let me on'. He opened the gate and me in my long slashed robe and flip flops, holding the bump run down the platform trying to find him.
Was slightly aware of a lot of open mouths and wide eyes. No DP though.
Ran back to ticket office and screamed 'do an announcement' so they did and a man on the platform shouted 'he's coming, love, he's coming'. DP appeared with a mad grin and we tore off home.

No real contractions had kicked in but we began inflating pool and then realised a day /pool birth and Lottie and Eve weren't going to work so D took girls to my mums.

Midwife arrived, had tea etc, Mars arrived had sandwich and then at 3pm I was allowed into the pool.

Mars says I had a silent labour, by which we mean I just breathed through the contractions and then at just before 4.40pm I started to feel the real pressure to push and got bit loud. mars reminded me to breathe the baby out and thank God she did as I thought I was going to get into a panic at this stage but she calmed me right down and I did just that, I breathed her out.

Then I heard the midwife say 'catch her' so I reached down and she swam up into my arms.

It was the best feeling in the world and I'm crying typing it.

She is perfect. And a girl and ohhhh the world is just wonderful.

She was born at 4.40pm weighing 7lb 1.5oz, is feedign really well, and her sisters are so bloody cute with her it's heartbreaking!

No stitches, no grazing, nothing, just bliss.

Not even started to think of a name. At the moment she's just angel child, becasue that's what she is.

I'm in love and so lucky and everything is great

kyala · 26/09/2007 14:23

Hello people!
Well, you might've guessed that I had my baby (as planned on Sunday through inducing) sorry I haven't been on to tell you all about it, and I forgot to put a buddy in my mobile phone, was a bit useless LOL!

Anyway, all's well, labour went swimmingly, only 6 1/2 hours from breaking my water's to birth, so nice and quick.
Had Entonox then in the pool for the last 20 minutes or so! The head came out then my contractions disappeared so the midwife ended up tugging little one out fun that was!!

Anywho, spent about 19 hours on the post-natal ward, got sick of not being able to sleep (mainly due to other babies crying LOL) and demanded to go home !

So, Lucy May was born at 20:04 on Sunday 23rd, weighing 8lb 12oz, 50cm long, all fit and healthy!

Anyway, off again now, might be able to catch up at some point but I'm still a bit lethargic having a rather nocturnal little one , bless her!

Take care guys, will catch up with you all and see you soon on the post-natal thread too
Good luck to those who still haven't had their LO's and congrats to those who have!
Ky
(definately not pregnant any more )

Thomcat i just loved your story! Lol at you running onto the platform! I'm pleased you had the experience you wanted xx

Big Congrats Thomcat and Kyala

Thomcat, that birth sounds wonderful, lucky you

OP posts:
TwitmonstEr · 26/09/2007 16:53

hi mrsfish, I'm feeling for you, I had mine at 39 + 6 so I know how you feel right now. Lovely births from the sound of it you two, my midwife was stuck behind a tractor and was in her car outside as I shouted head to dp who was waiting at the front door for her. She heard me shout and dropped her keys down a drain lol and came running in and as they did out he slithered. So by the skin of her teeth she made it (sort of) and didn't have the extra paperwork that needs filling in when they miss it.....

Anyhoo am waiting for tea to finish cooking in between feeds, so may have to suddenly dash, but I'm thinking of you all.

MrsMar · 26/09/2007 17:02

congrats thomcat and kyala, great news! thomcat, what a lovely story, i did rofl at the picture you conjured up in my head of you dashing on to the train platform!

had my health visitor round today, she knows my sister from when she had her two, so it was really nice to see someone who knows the family. she gave me a big booklet thing called birth to five and it said in there that babies go through a growth spurt at around 10 days (and again at 2 months and around 5 months i think) so dal that may have been what you experienced when ryan was feeding loads and not sleeping. i think thats what we're going through at the moment!

well done on the weight loss dal, i weighed myself this morning, not that i'm obssessive but its just so satisfying! another half stone off since sunday so that's 2 stone in 12 days!!! of course i put on 3 and a half stone when i was pg, so still got a way to go. i'm sure the last stone and a half won't be so easy!

well, my poor little boy has got hiccups so i'd better go and rescue him from his cot, he does hate them, he really frowns when he has them... bless!

take care everyone xx

FlossALump · 26/09/2007 17:30

hello everyone. I've been a bit slow to update this thread so sorry!

I was induced at 40+12 on Monday, so not able to have my homebirth! Induction went well considering, short version, prostaglandin given at 10.30 am, couple of hours monitoring then up and around down to town to see if it helped things along. Then a bath and getting contractions every 6-7 mins but only mildly. Enough though that I got to 3cms and they were able to break my waters. So that was done just before 7. Contractions then started coming every 2-4 mins almost immediately. At 20.30 I was 5 cms dilated and in a lot of pain so started on G & A along with the tens! Things then progressed very quikcly, within about 30 mins I was 8 cms and then began pushing at about 21.10 with DD being born at a whopping 10lb 7 at 21.19.

If anyone wants any more details the announcement is here! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1370/394888?stamp=070926170750

Congratulations on your little one kyala! Another DD for this thread! I too made a quick exit from the post natal ward - arrived there at 1 am and when asked at 8 am if I wanted to go - well I didn't need asking twice!

laksa · 26/09/2007 17:49

congratulations, kyala and thomcat! Your story made me cry thomcat, it is such a beautiful, positive account of birth

Well its my due date today and nothing, nada, not even a paltry show! Although it is a full moon tonight so I am still quite hopeful

Well, I'm off to do some vacuuming, eat a curry and corner the dh for some action.

xx

laksa · 26/09/2007 17:52

congrats to you too, flossalump sounds like a good labour especially considering you were induced, nice to hear normal stories of inductions instead of horror ones!

emj23 · 26/09/2007 19:06

Congratulations MrsBumblebee, Thomcat (brilliant story!), Kyala and Flossalump, and welcome to all your babies!

Sorry about this, but I just need a quick complain and then I'll shut up.
I know it sounds mad but I'm starting to think this baby is never going to arrive. I keep thinking something is about to happen, like I get this huge feeling of pressure and think my waters are about to break but then... nothing. And then another horrible night of hardly any sleep because of waking every time I try to roll over due to my huge belly. None of the things people recommend to get things going have any effect whatsoever. I even got DP to take me for a drive down some bumpy roads earlier - it just made me feel really sick. Ho hum.

Right, thanks. Feel better now.

Hope everyone else is feeling fine and dandy!

Hi Ladies

Just a quick update to say that my beautiful baby girl arrived last Wednesday night. i won't bore you with every detail but in outline i was booked in for a c section on Friday 21st Sep due to breech presentation. My waters broke spectacularly on Wed and i went in. All calm until consultant arrived to do an internal examine and I was 3 cm dilated and she could feel the cord dropping through. Apparently the cord can spasm on contact with cold air and cut off the baby. So alarms were pushed, I was rushed to theatre, given a general anaesthetic and Isabelle Alice was born 3 mins later weighing 6lbs and 10ozs. Her scores were 10 after 1 minute so she was fine.

Was very very sore as they were probably less delicate than normal! Got fantastic help feeding at Kingston hospital so that is going pretty well in the circumstances. However then got an infection and stomach bug so put on drip/antibiotics and was quite poorly.

Home yesterday and am pleased to be out and trying to find my feet at home. Feeding is going a tiny bit better each day so I am sticking at it.

Quite an intense experience but I am fine about it now. Whatever it took to get her here heathily and the post natal care was really excellent.

Really enjoying reading everyones news and experiences even if I am not going to be posting quite as much as am a bit immobile at the moment. Lots of positive vibes to you all and enjoy your early days with your newborns. To those who are still waiting it is worth it - however it happens!
