@facevalue and I was up most of the night thinking about chocolate, fizzy pop and sweets 😂😂😂

Raindancer411 · 21/04/2020 08:00

I have got to go to the local healthy living centre today for my 36 week appointment. Still getting constant heartburn and running out of iron tablets.

sao81 · 21/04/2020 08:44

I feel really really off today. Got a headache, feel really sick and feel like I've got a water balloon inside my moo😶 just feeling really uncomfortable and crappy I'm hoping it passes soon

@Raindancer411 I feel for you with heartburn. Only thing that helps mine is drinking milk! Hope your appointment goes well

@sao81 @Raindancer411 heartburn buddies! Yeah I find skim milk is ok, although not sure it provides a lasting relief, just feels good to drink it cold 😕

My 36w appointment is tomorrow, really keeping fingers crossed baby is now head down and all is well. Hopefully they also refer me to the midwife led unit for my next appointment. I have so many practical questions about birth - like, can we park overnight, do they have a birth ball or do I bring my own, etc 🙂

Nappies are usually not provided in the UK hospitals, right? What size are people bringing? I am thinking shall I bring both 0 and 1 just in case, or 1 is good?

sao81 · 21/04/2020 09:54

@woollycat Im taking size 1s, my daughter was 7lb1oz and they were perfect fit! In my hospital each room had a birthing ball, I took my own ready to pump and they just rolled one out for me 😂 deffo ask about parking too, as ours have actually suspended car park charges for now, which will save us a few quid!

@Raindancer411 @woollycat @Clairesoph
I hear you guys on the heartburn. It driving me crazy! Hate it so much! I tried gaviscon and milk but nothing helps!

flissity · 21/04/2020 10:09

@november90 @sao81 @SwiftlySwifty

I do still have time!! But doing my research on my options... as I would probably opt for a vaginal breech birth which is supported jn my hospital.

I just feel like it’s wedged there and can’t imagine it moving!!

Have a scan booked for 36wks and they do ECV here between 36-37 I think.

Nice to hear from some ladies who’s babies turned later. That’s good to know!!!

flissity · 21/04/2020 10:57

@SwiftlySwifty transverse!! Naughty baby ... I and sending you my head down vibes 😆

Raindancer411 · 21/04/2020 11:14

I wish our hospital would stop car parking charges! It's £8 a day!!

I am taking size 1 nappies as my son was 7lb 2, and so far at just before 36 weeks they guess this one is 6lb 7. The 1 size goes up to 11lb!!

november90 · 21/04/2020 11:24

@flissity my midwife was really positive about vaginal breach delivery! She said doctors tend to ere more on the side of c section but midwives will be more supportive of a vaginal delivery if the baby isn't measuring large as the old research which was against this has been disregarded now. She seemed to really encourage that when I was in that boat but my baby is measuring large so c section would've been my best bet! 😬

AlmostAlwyn · 21/04/2020 11:41

I've got size 1 nappies! There seems to be a bit of overlap between them so I think size 0 would only be necessary for premature or really tiny babies.

Got my next appointment on Thursday when I'll be 38+1. Should get the results back from the strep B test too so fingers crossed. Expecting some fetal heart monitoring as well at some point so we'll see. Shame I can't see my own doctor though - the surgery has reduced hours at the moment and he works outside those hours usually. I'm hoping they change it soon! Smile

On the heartburn front, I've only had it mildly, but found chewing gum helped stave it off! Not so handy if it strikes at 3am though Grin

@flissity hope your baby turns soon! My friend had a vaginal breech birth though and she said it was absolutely fine Smile

Babymamma192 · 21/04/2020 12:11

I'm 36+3 had a growth scan last week an the baby is transverse! The midwife felt my belly etc just before the scan and said that the baby was head down which was obvs wrong! I've got my next appointment tomorrow I hope the baby is head down but I'm not sure I will really believe the midwife is she says she is because she was wrong last time!
Kind of hoping they send me for a presentation scan so they can be sure. Made the mistake of googling and now I'm worried about it!

SwiftlySwifty · 21/04/2020 12:21

@flissity

Thank you! He was head down until 36 weeks as well! Little monkey.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do! Have a look on the Baby Spinning website - a few tips on there Smile

november90 · 21/04/2020 13:32

Can you believe my luck! Just waiting for the emergency dentist to call me back as I think I had a gum infection! I so hope they will just write me a prescription and I don't have to go in as the emergency dentist is in the same building where the do the cover 19 tests 😩😩😩

SwiftlySwifty · 21/04/2020 14:28

@Babymamma192

We're transverse too! 37 weeks today with midwife appointment tomorrow.

Think we're going to decline an ECV and go straight for a planned c-section if we're given the option. But if you fancy trying a few things to get the baby moving naturally - have a look at the spinning babies website.

Try not to worry - but if you feel any signs of labour at all - make sure you phone the hospital and go in straight away!

Best wishes!

SwiftlySwifty · 21/04/2020 14:31

@Babymamma192

Also - push for another scan if you're not confident in your midwife - or ask for a second opinion! There's also the possibility the baby could have moved in between the midwife checks and the scan? But if you don't feel confident then don't be afraid to double check.

MarshmallowsOnToast · 21/04/2020 14:37

Random question but those who are planning to breastfeed.

Are you packing any formula in baby's hospital bag just in case?

Just read to consider this incase you're struggling to BF but I already have so much stuff packed (as I'm aware OH can't just turn up & bring anything I need) so not sure whether to bother or not. Also don't want to "give up" too soon and use formula.

itsybitsya · 21/04/2020 14:48

Hi Everyone

Not sure if many of you will remember me from the first threads - I was Shelbusdumbledore back then !

I had to take a step back as this pregnancy has been hard hard hard & my physical and mental health has taken a battering.

It's good to still see some familiar names and congrats to those who have had their babies

I'm not due until 4th May but I'm being induced in 6 days.

Would love to jump back in now if that's okay with you ladies - I could do with some people in a similar boat to keep me sane !

Rebecca612 · 21/04/2020 15:03

@Babymamma192 @SwiftlySwifty another member of the transverse crew! I’m having a c section anyway so doesn’t matter except the kicks to my left hip are very powerful 😂

Twitwooo · 21/04/2020 15:17

@marshmallowontoast just one bottle of pre made stuff will be plenty to keep baby going if a top up if needed. Don't have to look at it as 'giving up'!

You can also explore expressing before birth - abm.me.uk/breastfeeding-information/antenatal-expression-colostrum/

I plan to do this, will talk to midwife about it next week at my 36 week appointment.

With my dd I didn't do that and even though my supply was great from birth because she sicked up everything she had in the first 12 hours she ended up having one formula top up (which the hospital provided). It didn't hinder breastfeeding at all

Twitwooo · 21/04/2020 15:18

@MarshmallowsOnToast sorry the app sometimes doesn't show me names to tag 🤪 rubbish

MarshmallowsOnToast · 21/04/2020 16:00

Thanks @Twitwooo

Great - Just one bottle should be manageable to pack!

I had read to take a pack of 6 starter pack for some reason.

Thanks for your advice that's really helpful x

Caspianberg · 21/04/2020 16:24

Regarding bottle feeding, is anyone else feeling they definitely should offer a bottle earlier than they maybe would have done alongside breastfeeding now with Covid-19 going around?

I am aiming to breastfeed, and would like dh to give a bottle each evening eventually, but feel now we should start at say 2 weeks with a small bottle per day incase I end up ill with this flu in the next 6 months, as would hate baby not to be able to easily be fed by someone else if needed.

SwiftlySwifty · 21/04/2020 16:40

@Rebecca612
Hello! So three of us so far? So maybe not as rare as we were led to believe? What week are you having your c-section?

@Babymamma192
My partner just reminded me - any signs of labour - go onto all fours - bum up in the air while you phone the hospital and await their instructions as it reduces the risk of cord prolapse.

@itsybitsya
Welcome back! I've been on here since the start too but haven't really posted until now. Hope you're doing ok! Not long to go now Smile

Babymamma192 · 21/04/2020 17:04

@SwiftlySwifty
Thanks for the tips 👍 hopefully I'm worrying for nothing but always good to know what to do in case!
Hopefully when we have our next appointments they'll be head down. I will see what happens tomorrow and if I'm not happy then I'll ask for a scan to see what's going on. I don't know if I'd go for an ECV but I'm also scared of having a c section so I just really hope she is head down 😂
