Fab news @mrsf1204 💙

@Purple29, I had the same thing with weaning Coralie off her feeding tube. At first I just breastfed and she lost weight so I then started bottle top ups. As soon as she gained weight (after 24 hours of top ups) we were allowed home. I’m now pumping at home so top her up with breastmilk as much as I can. She still gets tired just breastfeeding and I like that my husband can also feed her with the bottle. Hopefully you will be home soon.

I really hope we are not in full lockdown until September. I’d love my family and friends to be able to meet Coralie before then!

I got my 36 week scan (although not 36 weeks but close) tmw. Last time j went up it was still busy in the area I had to wait in with chairs further apart. Wonder if it being a weekend appointment it will be more quieter or not. The sonographer didn't even wear a mask last time.

@almostalwyn i'm glad things are different in the czech republic. we are in the UK so i don't think your opinion covers what we know from here. it's lovely to have hope. if u go back to the initial question- about visitors for 3 months- when baby born- the comment is the lockdown and social distancing will still be ongoing and that is a fact i'm afraid.

when this whole thing started around end of feb ( in the UK) - we had exactly the same denial. lots of ladies were attacking me cos we were just saying facts- they were saying oh this is just media scaremongering and fake news. you can choose to bury your head in the sand to cope and that is your right. please allow all opinions the hopeful and "pessimistic" as some people just know a little more and others less x we are all mums and mums to be and free to express ( without bullying ofcourse) how we feel.

facevalue · 17/04/2020 08:34

@november90 on my road we are probably 4 families with new borns ( i'm last still to happen). all been isolated all have toddlers similar age that will start preschool in sept. we all say the same as you. if we could only mingle slightly for our kids to just play in the garden together or walk in a park at the same time- that will help a lot ( slight relaxation of rules) would make a huge difference 😍 - or if i can just have my mum or sister fly over to stay with me - I WOULD LOVE that and feel 80% better x

facevalue · 17/04/2020 08:36

@Raindancer411 i hope it all goes well. i'm still in two minds about attending my 36 week appointment on monday 😩 keep us posted x

facevalue · 17/04/2020 08:41

@CharlieB93 @Moonstone12 it's so lovely that you had a positive experience. about feeding - with my first i thought BF was going well and my DD lost weight - i was devastated. i used top ups and tube to supplement her. at the time some other mums said don't worry and it will still get better ( i didn't believe them at the time) but honestly it did get better. the baby's jaw and muscles get stronger and the sucking ability and your supply improves too - we got to exclusively BF after the initial struggle x hang in there - you r doing an amazing job ( ps. sniffing that amazing new baby smell makes everything worth it😍😍😍)

GinUnicorn · 17/04/2020 08:58

@mrsf1204 missed your update that’s great news!

I had my consultant appointment Wednesday and although all staff were in protective gear the pregnant ladies were quite near each other waiting which made me nervous.

Lifesforlivingandloving · 17/04/2020 09:53

Thank you everyone x he's so adorable 😍

@woollycat I wasn't able to have him in the birth centre in the end due to needing to be induced so I had him on the labour ward x
The midwives were fantastic x they feel really sorry for us and the partners in the middle of this pandemic and not having the support we would normally get from visitors etc x
Partner had to leave after 3 hours of birth and then he wasn't allowed back until we were discharged which was 3 days later - it was super hard being alone in hospital but they do support you as much as possible
Hope this helps xx plz free free to ask any questions x

november90 · 17/04/2020 10:41

@facevalue it would make it so much easier wouldn't it! My sister has a toddler a little older then mine and she's just had a baby during lockdown, we've only been able to see him through the window! Just wish we could meet up and help each other!

So I'm not sure whether it's because the baby trend this week, or whether something is starting... BUT last night I had 6 wees! Omg I couldn't stop! It wasn't painful or anything so not worried about an infection. 37 weeks on Monday 😬😬😬😬😬

GinUnicorn · 17/04/2020 10:56

@Lifesforlivingandloving thanks for sharing - it is reassuring to hear and congratulations Flowers

@facevalue I feel like I’ve moved into the toilet at the moment!

facevalue · 17/04/2020 11:30

@ginunicorn i'm with you there. every kick i feel like i'll pee myself. and i keep going to the toilet to pass drops. very annoying sensation. 😩

Emmacb82 · 17/04/2020 12:02

Just had my 34 week appointment with midwife. Feel really upset that I’ve spent the last 5 weeks isolating only to be put into the tiniest waiting room and then 2 other people arriving after me and all sitting with me. One of whom was a teenager who had come with her mum which isn’t allowed! I felt so anxious and upset and my midwife did apologise and said we should have been separated. Makes me so nervous to go to the hospital for my scan on Tuesday 🙁
Thankfully baby is measuring fine and heartbeat lovely and strong x

Lu1u · 17/04/2020 14:04

Oh no @emmabc82 that must of been really stressful ☹️ I'm sure the hospital will have far better provision/ set up for your appointment next week. From what I have read from the ladies here that have had hospital appointments recently they have been positive experiences. My midwife said I can wait outside and then they call your mobile when it's time for the appointment so you can go straight in rather than having to sit/stand in the waiting room. Might that be an option for your next antenatal appointment? good luck for Tuesday!

woollycat · 17/04/2020 14:17

@Lifesforlivingandloving thanks for sharing. I am so happy for you, you seem really happy 🥰 Did you get induced because your waters broke? And after birth did you get transferred to the shared post natal ward or one of the private post natal rooms?

Raindancer411 · 17/04/2020 14:31

I have just had an email from the pregnancy anxiety group I was attending and they are setting up a zoom meeting to check on the group. Be nice to know the other girls are doing ok too :)

123Pandy · 17/04/2020 23:36

@Lifesforlivingandloving I'm also at QC. Did they keep you in for 3 days as routine? Or can some people go earlier if no issues?
Currently thinking of birth centre but anxious about not having epidural available there 🙈

Raindancer411 · 18/04/2020 16:22

Just spent nearly 3hours in hospital whilst I had my 36 week scan as she was not behaving. I am not quite 36 weeks and she is measuring 6lb 7oz already!!

My sonographer wore a mask but he had to get a colleague in at one point and he wasn't. Then to top it off I had to drink water and use one of their cups in the waiting room 🤢 My anxiety is now through the roof!!

november90 · 18/04/2020 17:30

Oh @Raindancer411 try not to worry about baby's weight. About 6.5 pounds is average for around 36 weeks and the scans don't give an exact weight anyway, just an approximate. My growth scan measured a litre over 6.5 pounds at 36 weeks and 1 day!

It's horrible to have to worry about the germs etc when you're in hospital :( but just try and think that it's out of your control. I'm sure you will be fine, just try and distract your mind. So easier said then done, I totally know!

Raindancer411 · 18/04/2020 17:41

@november90 Thank you xx

facevalue · 18/04/2020 20:15

@Raindancer411 oh dear x sorry you experienced this babe ... my appointment on monday morning. i plan to wear a mask and take my own water bottle and alcohol wipes and hand sanitiser. I don't think there's anything else i can do really😩

Moongirl10 · 18/04/2020 20:35

Has anyone had brown discharge in their third trimester? Had a small amount today, 34 weeks. Not happened before. I’ve left a message for my midwife just in case it’s anything to worry about.

facevalue · 18/04/2020 22:49

@Moongirl10 why not just call the assessment unit for peace of mind. i've never had brown or blood discharge - it would scare me. i know it can happen and it's not a definite problem but best to check x hopefully it's nothing ( just florid cervix blood flow or something).

november90 · 19/04/2020 03:34

Oh god I'm starting to feel very mild period style cramps. Not so much a cramp, more the sensation. This is how it started last time! It's too early!!! Hope it's not starting 😩😩😩😩

Moongirl10 · 19/04/2020 03:42

@facevalue I ended up speaking to my midwife and she sent me for an assessment at the hospital as I ended up bleeding lightly too. After a bunch of tests and 5 hours later, everything is good! Baby is doing great, just one of those things I guess.
