I got my bouncy chair from Asda for £10! It was in the baby event but they probably still have some for a reasonable price. I have a swing chair so didn’t need to spend a lot of money on an expensive one x

GinUnicorn · 03/04/2020 21:55

Thanks guys! I’ll check them out. I’d only found ones costing over £100 so really appreciate the help. Money is tight at the moment

facevalue · 03/04/2020 22:07

i just got this depressing update email-

www.rcog.org.uk/globalassets/documents/guidelines/2020-04-03-coronavirus-covid-19-infection-in-pregnancy.pdf

basically they now think virus transmission from mum to unborn baby is probable! i'm hoping for this group it will still mean no harm as we r all over 28 weeks by now and babies developed already!

anxiety is no better - spoke to midwife over the phone - said they cancelled all 34weeks appointments and only doing 36 weeks face to face! birth partners only stay until birth then must leave within 3-6 hours - not allowed on postnatal wards

sao81 · 04/04/2020 07:38

@facevalue its a scary time isn't it, I've just had a little look on that website as theyve also updated their Q and A. Send it to my partner to speak to work as they still aren't allowing him to work from home which is putting me at risk

@sao81 if he's a keyworker then he can be given accommodation or sleep separately and make sure he has a shower when he gets home wipe surfaces he touches etc ... that's your only way.. lots of drs and nurses wives are pregnant so they can't just stay home. x

sao81 · 04/04/2020 09:24

@facevalue yeah he is a key worker, hes been stripping off as soon as hes home getting a shower and clothes straight on a 60 wash, we found out that certain teams have been given laptops to work from home, rather than based on peoples circumstances, just up the wall with it all want everything back to normal now! X

@ginunicorn dont know if you've ordered one yet but I have just order the kindercraft smartplay bouncer from a site called precious little one. It's got sensory toys, the vibrate and sound bits and it's all primary colours and black and white which is very good for them for their development!! It's down from 70 quid to 29!! Bargain. Its pre order for april delivery.

november90 · 04/04/2020 13:47

Here's my almost 35 week bump, measuring at about 37 weeks 🤦🏼‍♀️
How's everyone feeling today?
I've been struggling to sleep with corona anxiety. I keep imagining/dreaming of symptoms during the night and then waking up in the morning super stressed! Anyone else doing the same?
I can't waaaaiiittttt for this to be over, and it will be girls! I know we're all under so much pressure but it will be over!!! I can't wait to walk down the prom with my pram and my little buggy board for my little boy. My dads currently putting my crib up! Where are you all storing yours or are they already in your room?
I've ordered a baby sensory foil mat off amazon today. That and a disco light was an absolute LIFE saver for my first in his first few months! I honestly can not recommend them enough and you can get them so cheap!

GinUnicorn · 04/04/2020 17:36

Thanks @Purple29 I’ll look!

@november90 you look small to me. I’m sure my bump is bigger and I’m measuring 32 weeks. Hope you are doing well x

november90 · 04/04/2020 18:12

Oh it's probably just my big balloon dress! I honestly look like I'm about to pop!
But I do like being call small (😂) so thank you!

GinUnicorn · 04/04/2020 18:14

I also had dress envy. I’ve moved into yoga pants these days Blush

facevalue · 04/04/2020 18:51

@november90 what's the foil matt? can share a link please? and what disco lights?

Reds2007 · 04/04/2020 19:59

Hey ladies 👋🏻 As a first time mum, would you recommend getting a breathing sensor for the cot? I’ve heard mixed reviews and not sure if to get one or which one to get, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you xx

november90 · 04/04/2020 20:18

@facevalue

This is the foil mat! I got the idea from baby sensory last time and it's just for the baby to lie on and it crinkles when they move their limbs. Probably best for when then are about 1 month plus but it really was amazing and kept my lb entertained for ages!

The disco light is just a projector Leighton which puts different lights on the walls and ceiling. We had it on all the time last time, he loved it! Again another recommendation from baby sensory!

facevalue · 05/04/2020 08:29

@november90 oh ok🤣🤣🤣 i was wondering!

it's a beautiful sunny day - weird that the world has stopped!

november90 · 05/04/2020 09:24

@Reds2007

I don't have a breathing sensor and I didn't have one last time either. I suppose it's a complete personal choice! I have heard others say that they have had them and became obsessed with checking them etc and found it quite stressful, but I can't really comment much more! How has your pregnancy been?

@facevalue isn't it lovely! I do wish I could go round to my sisters and let the kiddies all play together and relax :(

woollycat · 05/04/2020 11:44

Have people started doing perineal massage? I will be 34 weeks next week so am looking to start doing it next weekend, but not really sure if I'll get it right 😀 NCT says you can use olive oil which is nice.

facevalue · 05/04/2020 12:03

@woollycat you are meant to start early - u don't have to wait until 34 weeks. i'm 34 weeks today 😘

CharlieB93 · 05/04/2020 15:37

Did anyone do perineal massage in their first pregnancy? Did it make a difference?
I don’t know whether I’m bendy enough 😂😂😂 also I’ve read something that said not to do it more than once a week, or it can have the opposite effect!

Clairesoph · 05/04/2020 18:08

@CharlieB93 I was told about it but never bothered. Probably just as well since the baby had a huge head and got so stuck I needed forceps and an episiotomy! 🥴🤣 the only thing I wish I'd done with my perineum was admire it in its whole form cos it ain't ever gonna be the same again 🤣

CharlieB93 · 05/04/2020 18:18

@Clairesoph haha - good advice I’ll spend the next few weeks admiring mine before it is no more 🥴😂

sao81 · 05/04/2020 20:18

@Reds2007 I had an angelcare monitor with breathing sensor, once she got more active and could roll over there were a couple of times she would roll off the sensor and gave us a mini heart attack a couple of times being woken by the alarm to find her at the other end of the cot 🙈 I'm not sure whether I will use it this time round x

How is everyone feeling today? Approaching 33 weeks, been having really painful braxton hicks for about a week now, my SPD seems to of kicked off even more, and today I have felt the nausea come back all over again 😥 was due to see consultant regarding pain/spleen problems in 2 weeks but it's been rearranged to 1st May (37 weeks) which has left me feeling abit crappy, hoping the feeling passes tomorrow
