Hi, I'm taking multi-vitamins with iron as I was told my blood has half the level of iron in it than it is supposed to and I'm doing OK.

I recommend dried apriots too, but not too many as it seriously has the reverse effect which stomach cramps (I found from personal experience)

Congrats to all of those who have has good scans. I'm 11wks tomorrow but going out for a family meal tonight which I think everyone knows (thanks to my MIL) so I am bracing myself for loads of comments.

I am finding Murray Mints help me stop feeling sick - they also seam to be helping my migraine so I have decided they are magic sweet

loisstella · 11/09/2007 15:06

mumzyof2 iron tablets aren't harmful if they come as part of a food supplement rather than properly prescribed ones for for anaemics.
The thing with extra iron (even in food supplements) it doesn't help if you're already suffering from the contstipation...

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 11/09/2007 15:12

Had my scan my little bud is measuring 7.8mm and has a little heart beating away wahoo I am so happy this is really going to happen I am having a baby in April

loisstella · 11/09/2007 15:16

TLSM HOORAH!!!!!!!
, and
7.8 mm - soooo tiny still. isn't it brilliant you can actually see them so small?
mine was 12mm - just over one centimeter and I keep looking at the picture, i'm sure I can see his little head and small feet (I know, i can't but humor me - it's so much fun)

mumzyof2 · 11/09/2007 15:21

Is anybody paying for a 4d scan? I want to find out the sex of my little'un as soon as I can really. Iv heard that you can have scans at 12 weeks, just to find out the sex, but I didnt think they could tell until 20 weeks. Anybody know any different, because im so excited!

loisstella · 11/09/2007 15:23

I read sex can really be confimmed at 16 weeks... even with a 'regular scan'

EllieG · 11/09/2007 15:28

TLSM - WOO-HOO!
FANTASTIC!

mumzyof2 · 11/09/2007 15:31

Well a new 4d ultasound place has just opened up down the road, so im hoping to go there. Im sure they'll let me know when they can tell. I thought 12 weeks was early, but someone on here said they had both their babies sex's picked up at 12 weeks, wih a normal scan. Im confused.

Soph73 · 11/09/2007 15:41

tlsm - fantastic! westerngirl - bloody terrified to tell you the truth I really want to go for a scan now but all scans have to be done privately here and I can´t afford one until payday However, I´ll be 12 wks by then so just about right.

Soph73 · 11/09/2007 15:43

loisstella, nomorhighheels -

Soph73 · 11/09/2007 15:45

loisstella - I´ll be a worrier with you then Sorry about all the little messages but computer still can´t cope with bigger posts!!!!!!

ToastAddict · 11/09/2007 15:49

To everyone who's had scans - HOORAY!!!!

SO pleased

Re scans - I heard somewhere (don't think I'm making it up!) that actually they can tell really early on e.g. at 12 weeks or so, but they choose not to tell people as there are some people who would terminate if it wasn't the sex they wanted. Shocking, I know, but apparently it does happpen

So I'm not sure if you can find out if you go privately?

Re: iron - fine to take a mulitvit and iron supplement, it is just mega-doses that should only be taken on recommendation of Dr or m/w

Daftmoo · 11/09/2007 16:14

Awww, it's so good to hear about all your lovely scans...I keep watching my little bean moving around on the screen on the cd they gave me.

I'm deffo going to have a 4d scan, much later on though

I came across this site of first trimester development, I thought the photos were amazing (hope I'm allowed to post the link?)

BabyBratt · 11/09/2007 16:41

FANTASTIC TLSM [Grin] [Grin]

scorpio1 · 11/09/2007 17:41

congrats on scan TLSM

we too are going to have a 3D scan when the time is right-we havent before ans this will probably be the last baby; so would be nice.

I'm feeling a little better day by day now, thank god! i still havent had my scan appt through-my MW strikes me as a bit slack....I'm 9+4 today, and having a massive chinese for dinner tonight with friends.

Back to uni next thursday i dont want to go, really....

hope everyone is well.

EllieG · 11/09/2007 18:32

Chin up scorpio, might be better than you think
Have been so bad at concentrating at work this week. Can't wait for scan on thurs but terrified at same time. Have been trying not to get attached just encase but it doesn't work, keep finding myself thinking about names and imagining it. I know what I want to call the LO if it makes it out in one piece - Adam for a boy or Eva for a girl. I looked up what Eva meant and it is Hebrew meaning 'living' - might be a good omen maybe? Or maybe I'm getting ahead of myself...

Congratulations to everyone who's had a happy scan - you must all feel so relieved.

Scorpio1 - re your slack mw, I'm 9+2, and my GP said to chase up if i hadn't received a scan date by the beginning of next month. Nuchal scan can be done up to 14 wks i think, so guess that's fine. BUT it feels like absolutely ages away, and as i am pretty much symptom-less, it's hard not to fear the worst until you see proof.

Not even feeling that tired at the moment. Managed an aerobics class this morning, and didn't even need to nap while dd napping.

Healthy food still languishing in the fridge while i snaffle away popcorn and tons of granary bread with marmite. I'll be vast at this rate.

EllieG · 11/09/2007 19:59

I am getting vast-er by the second. I have put on half a stone now and only 8+3!

splishsplosh · 11/09/2007 20:21

I'm far too scared to weigh myself!

studentmum1 · 11/09/2007 21:33

hiya everyone, i haven't posted in a while, can't belive everyones already had there scans! mines not till next week and i'm dreading it!! far too scared!
i'm pleased my spots are clearing up, now i'm having to deal with a tiny bump appearing on my tummy... i wouldn't mind but its not a baby bump its my fat tummy growing mahoosive!!

i have just got a new job which i'm really excited about but i'm stressing at the same time! i've been commisioned to paint two murals in a friends childrens room and my uni starts back in two weeks!! arrrragghh!!

ToastAddict · 12/09/2007 09:23

Hi all,

I ventured onto the scales this morning and wished I hadn't! I reckon I've put on 5 or 6 pounds and am 8+3.
I'm now managing to eat an evening meal, which is an improvement, but I'm still snacking all day in an effort not to feel so sick.

Ellie - love your names! I really liked Eva but my dh pointed out that with our surname being Hill, it could sound a bit too much like Evil!! Going to have to be careful with this! But I know what you mean - one minute we are being cautious, then we get carried away with ourselves and start looking ahead, then we have to rein ourselves in and go back to being cautious again. Think I will feel a lot better after Friday's scan - hope yours goes well tomorrow

Studentmum - wow, the murals sound really exciting!

Scorpio - I'm sure uni will be great once you're back, it's just those first few days... you'll be fine

WindUpBird · 12/09/2007 09:50

Hi All, lovely to hear lots of good news! I have my first appt with the midwife tomorrow, so I'm hoping that will help me feel a bit pregnant. I've started getting some symptoms now other than tiredness...mainly feeling ravenous in the middle of the night and having to get up and eat a banana! Can't wait to get a scan date, I don't think I'll really believe in this pregnancy until I actually see proof.

sagitta · 12/09/2007 10:06

Hi,
Haven't posted for a while. It's good to hear about all the happy scan news.
But I don't know what's wrong with me. Still don't want a baby, and don't know how to make myself feel better. I thought all your enthusiasm would help - but it doesn't seem to be rubbing off. Feel terrible (sick, kanckered, miserable) all the time, and, dare I say this, almost hoping for a mc. Does that make me a terrible person? Already have beautiful dd, so what's wrong with me?

ToastAddict · 12/09/2007 11:13

Hi Sagitta, really sorry to hear that you are not feeling any better about this pg. Please don't feel that you have to hold back from posting, just because you may have a slightly different view to others on here.

I'll say straight away that for me, this is a much wanted first pg, so I'm not hoping for a m/c. But I can honestly say that I'm not really enjoying this stage very much. I'm feeling sick and tired and emotional and worried about whether or not it's still alive. I feel like I'm just surviving from day to day until 12 weeks. I know this is different to how you feel, but I just wanted you to know that you're not the only one not enjoying every minute of it.

Do you have access to a counsellor to discuss your feelings?

Hope you can talk to someone in RL about this. {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}
