sagitta - you are not a terrible person at all. Remember your hormones will be making you feel all over the shop at the moment - I talk to a counsellor in my more mad moments - do you think maybe something similar might help you? xxx

Hello ladies,
I haven't written in a while. I am not in work today, still haven't had any morning sickness and hopefully won't at this point but I felt really dizzy this morning and my husband made me call in sick. I didn't want to as I am a contractor and so will lose a day's pay but it is nice to hang around for a day doing nothing! I can catch up on your posts now.

Sagitta, sorry you are down. Hopefully talking it over with someone will help.

I was in Dublin at the weekend and told my family the news, they are all excited as this is the first grandchild. By now, I have told pretty much anyone who will listen!

I have put on 5 lbs too already, I am not eating more than I usually do, in fact I thought I would lose weight because I am not glugging wine, but I suppose that is just the way it is!

I went to the GP on 4th Sept but haven't heard from the midwife/hospital yet. I think I'll give them another week then chase it up. I am so glad I had the private scan as I really don't have many symptoms (except a spotty face, yuck) and was beginning to doubt there was anything in there!

Isabella Oliver have 15% off everything at the moment ... some nice clothes but I can't imagine the bump yet!

Chat soon.

mumzyof2 · 12/09/2007 12:25

Im 8+3, and put on half a stone, so i think were all in the same boat when it comes to being fatties for the next nine months! Cant wait for my scan, or some kind of appointment. Just said to my DP, that its seems as though were imagining things, until we actually see the baby on a screen. The days are moving just soooo slowly.
Does anybody know how many weeks your meant to be before you use a doppler/heartbeat monitor? Iv heard of one lady who could hear the babies heartbeat from 10 weeks. Is that right?

smcg · 12/09/2007 12:31

Hi, I've just googled it and you're right, you can use a doppler from 10 weeks.

Yes, the time is ticking by so slowly, I want to be 12 weeks and have my next scan!

mumzyof2 · 12/09/2007 12:42

Damn the 12 week mark! Whoever invented pregnancy ( )should have made it so that we didnt even know we were pregnant iuntil 12 weeks, then it wouldnt be such a stressful, worrying part of our pregnancies.

smcg · 12/09/2007 12:43

That would be wonderful!

mumzyof2 · 12/09/2007 12:56

Wonderful, but unless Mothernature changes her mind, unlikely.

Peachy · 12/09/2007 13:43

Had my first appt with MW today, definitely 11 weeks by her dates- scan ASAP (I didn't relaise but they like it 10 / 11 weeks ehre instead of 12 back home- oops!). She's coming to do a full appt here at home next week, but has booked me in for a home delivery (yay).

Having general nightmares here as ds3's school has invoked some ancient power 9they're a weird will funded set up founded in 17-something) to refuse him access due to his SN< nearest other school is 20 minute walk up a big hill but the other boys ahve to be at the first school- LEA stepping in and all, but a complete nigtmare!

Ellie like your names, my nephew is an Adam, we already have a Samuel / Strirling / Harold (harry), for a girl we've chosen either Easter or April dependent on arrival date, and for a boy Owen or Dominic.

loisstella · 12/09/2007 13:54

Ellie-you make me chuckle Adam and Eve(a)?

chipmonkey · 12/09/2007 13:55

Hi all! Am feeling very crap today. My day always has to start with gut-wrenching vomiting, otherwise I won't keep anything down for the rest of the day. Can't tolerate milk, tea, coffee, wheat or anything remotely high in fat. I am living on porridge made on water and Scottish oatcakes, which are really just solidifed porridge when you think of it. I was away on a course for the last few days and flew back into Dublin last night with Ryanair. Well, the plane landed with such a crash, everyone on board screamed! I had convinced myself it would dislodge the baby but am still OK!
Sagitta, sorry you're feeling so crap. I think it's very hard to feel positive about an unplanned pregnancy, especially when you are suffering from ms. When that eases off and you are in the second trimester, hopefully thing will look better.

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 12/09/2007 14:31

Hi All Well bought my first maternity bras in the sale at mothercare buy one get one half price (even though their both half price all ready) so right bargains

I for one even though we planned this and really want it have moments of doubt thats only natrual!

Names - some lovely ones there. I would plump for Violet (Lottie) for a girl and Edward (Teddy) for a boy

loisstella · 12/09/2007 14:34

TLSM - I love violet!
DH has veto-d it though!!!!
Okay - here we go...
My names...
girl: Mia
boy: Jefferson or Harry

ToastAddict · 12/09/2007 14:46

Oh what the hell, if everyone else is discussing names I want to join in!

We are thinking Molly or Jack

But still have lots of thinking to do

I may steal some ideas from you guys!! Really like Harry, loisstella, but not for us - Harry Hill.......

chipmonkey · 12/09/2007 15:11

TA my cousin's children are called Molly and Jack! Lovely names!

Lorayn · 12/09/2007 15:24

Hi everyone, have been away for nearly a month!! moved house and took forever to get my net back on grrrrrr, still feeling awfully sick, am unable to keep anything down for more than about an hour, and keep feeling incredibly dizzy. Had midwife on monday and she has taken bloods etc, scan on the 22nd looking forward to that, hope everyones doing well.

Soph73 · 12/09/2007 15:37

Hi all. Had blood test this morning - very painful as it didn´t want to come out and I´m not good with needles at the best of times As we´re discussing names, we like Will or Josh for a boy and Emma for a girl. Whoever said pregnancy should only be apparent at 12 wks is spot on Stop all that worrying!!!

Soph73 · 12/09/2007 15:38

Although saying that we´d only start worrying about something else I´m sure Don´t you just hate hormones

Soph73 · 12/09/2007 15:40

sagitta - don´t stop posting. Definately try and see a counsellor. You may feel a lot better once the hormones calm down. We all react differently especially if the pregnancy isn´t planned {{{{big hugs}}}} Try not to worry too much

chipmonkey · 12/09/2007 16:10

I like Harry for a boy. Am not going to even think about girls' names!

Lorayn · 12/09/2007 16:12

We're thinking Dante/Blake for a boy and we both loved roxy for a girl, until eastenders nicked it!! Still love it but it reminds me of that girl now, doubt many people the babies age wil think much of the 'rooooooooooooooooooxannnnnnnnnnne' song!!
Also like Kathryn/kitty.

Soph73 · 12/09/2007 16:26

chipmonkey - can I ask why you´re not even thinking about girls name?

imagineafullnightsleep · 12/09/2007 16:28

Sorry to impose on an ante natal thread (my DS is 1 year old today !!) but I saw the name stuff and had to share what I did with you. We couldn't decide on a name at all (actually we both had names we liked, but couldn't agree, therefore, a few days after ds was born, I called him a different name for 6 days - that way I knew which one felt right ! By the end of the week I was 100% sure we'd picked the right name !

imagineafullnightsleep · 12/09/2007 16:29

Sorry - just re-read that and realised how unclear it was - I meant that I called by DS a different name every day for 6 days !

EllieG · 12/09/2007 17:06

That's quite a good idea! My DP thinks we should just give 'em numbers as less complicated.

MathairNua · 12/09/2007 17:35

Very interesting to hear all the suggested names. Being irish, we're thinking of irish names, but living in London, not sure if he/she would ever forgive us

In terms of food, at the moment I am living on porridge, custard and rice cakes with butter, with the odd helping of mash when I can manage it! - chipmonkey, it seems that the only thing that I CAN eat involves milk!

I have my first antenatal appointment next week. I have no appointment for a scan yet but I have been told that it should be the week after. On the one hand, feeling very excited but also quite anxious in case...

Fingers crossed for all the upcoming scans.
