Hi all. I haven't been on for a while but just read all your posts and it is so reassuring hearing everyone elses fears! I have been so ill feeling sick and so knackered. The sickness is slowly wearing off but still feel terrible. It seems so hard this time round with a ds of 2.I am 8 weeks + 6 and just want this bit to end now. Is it really normal to feel this tired?

EllieG · 09/09/2007 08:29

Hey pad - yes entirely normal. Some days I am so tired that it's all I can do to not sleep. I am reliably informed that it does wear off - in the meantime try and think of it as a positive, PG symptoms mean that you are still PG and that everything is going OK, and soon you'll have a bit more energy x

loisstella - I am assuming that comment regarding punctuation is for me!!! sorry I am new to this site and was given the impression it was a support netork for mums to be, new and experience mums I was not expection to be pulled up on my grammer or spelling so slightly shocked and hurt. I am struggling enough with plucking up the courage to go to mums and tots groups on my own, without getting bitchy unkind comments on a support website.

MathairNua · 09/09/2007 14:01

Ellie G, you did make me think that I should go to the gym this morning. That intention died when I woke up briefly, and then rolled over and slept until 10.30 !

I am now 9+4, so hoping to be able to get some energy to get back to the gym again soon. For now, I will have to be content with walking to the shops, and running for the tube!

I am also a definite candidate for the fat, spotty club. Although I haven't told people in work, I think that it must be so obvious. I have a couple of suits that are now out of commission for the foreseeable future. It doesn't help that I read that, at this stage, it's just water retention. Hmmph!

EllieG · 09/09/2007 17:11

Jo71 - I'm sure she didn't mean it in a horrid way, everyone on this thread (and the site in general if you avoid the confrontational threads) is really nice and supportive. Sometimes things can come across wrong when written down, and stuff that was meant to be funny isn't as much, but please don't go or anything, this thread is lovely and you are very welcome here xxx

MathairNua - don't worry about the gym I go very rarely at the moment, just too knackered. I was also a bit depressed to read about water retention, though actually I have a sneaking suspicion that I am just getting a bit porky.

Hello to everyone else, hope you are having nice sundays

Jo71 please don't be upset, I am sure that comment was not meant in a nasty way. Mumsnet IS very supportive and also great fun. Do stick with this thread as we can all support each other! My punctuation is frequently crap as I am too lazy to proofread my messages! Have just eaten an entire Yorkie bar BEFORE my tea. Feeling porky - and it's not baby porky but over-eating porky! Am serious hoping that once I hit the next trimester that I will improve my diet. Currently feeling nauseous frequently and somehow choccie helps! Am thinking of going for a private scan soon as don't want to miss the window of opportunity for my nuchal fold. Am 39 ie aged so it's important for me to have every test going! Has anyone been feeling slightly depressed? I have ... but hopefully it's just hormones going wild!

mumzyof2 · 09/09/2007 21:06

Hello all, kinda new on here, but been spending most of my time in the pregancy bit, so i thought id say hello....."hello!" Im 8 weeks tomorrow, i think. Im not quite sure of my dates, i think i the first day of my last period was 15th July, which is what i told my dr, and im sure she said that my due date would be 21st April, but i just did a EDD calculator, and it said the 20thApril. Can nybody help? Also, if i was due on 21st april, would that make me exactly 8 weeks today? I know its picky but i like to know eactly whats going on. Thanks guys.

EllieG · 09/09/2007 22:23

Mumsyof2 - the calendars and GP's often seem to be a little bit out, I don't think it's an exact science. I am due either 19th or 20th April, and I know my exact dates, and am 8+1 today.

motherbird - I've been feeling a bit low at times too, and VERY irritable sometimes. My therapist (yes, I am that mental unfortunately )said that this is entirely normal in early PG as hormones going bananas and cause moods swings, so don't worry, it will pass. If you find yourself getting really down, talk to your GP, there are anti-depressants that are safe to take in PG.

mirry · 10/09/2007 08:29

someone pointed out to me that it's a leap year next year - which means that all the dates will be out by a day....

sorry to hear that others are feeling low, but also kind of pleased that it's not just me - I feel so ungrateful, as we want this pregnancy so much, but I do have days where I just feel very anxious about it all, and worried about how I'll cope when the baby comes.

Plus I can barely fit into any of my jeans at all!!

Piccalilli2 · 10/09/2007 08:57

Hello all. Sorry, not posted for ages as we've been on holiday and dd isn't sleeping so I have zero energy in the evenings. I haven't put much weight on yet despite mammoth overeating on holiday which I'm really pleased about - I put on nearly 5 stone with dd and have only just lost most of it so not keen to get too porky this time. My clothes are definitely feeling tighter though and I've got terrible spots.

Very jealous of everyone who's having/had scans, mine aren't scheduled until 24 Sept which feels a very long time away. I am making up for it then by having two on the same day - we don't get the nuchal translucency test on the NHS here so I'm going private as I'll be 33 by the time this one's born and the only date they can do is the same as my NHS scan.

I'm a bit worried as I don't seem to have many symptoms, apart from feeling nauseous but only in the middle of the night - and I'm seeing rather a lot of the middle of the night at the moment as blinking dd won't stay in her own bed.

WindUpBird · 10/09/2007 09:57

Hi All, can I join in?? I don't really know when I'm due, but I'm guessing end of April. I already have an April DD born in 2006! It's frustrating not really knowing how pregnant I am, makes me feel as if I'm not! No real symptoms other than EXHAUSTION. Big sympathy with you Piccalilli2, my DD has been ill all last week and awake and in our bed most nights. Reaching the end of my tether!!

mrsgaskell · 10/09/2007 11:08

I found that I couldn't exercise for the first 16 weeks and then I got this lovely burst for a few months and swam every day. You just need to hold on a bit longer and then you should get lovely second trimester boosters.

Can my name go on that list somehow? I think I'm due April 19th.

Soph73 · 10/09/2007 12:00

Morning all. Hope everyone had good weekends. Am also too tired to exercise at the moment - DH cleaned house from top to bottom for me on Sunday while I took DS out (he´s brill ) Also feel down quite a lot at the mo. Does anyone else still feel "periody"? Big wave to all those who have joined us

modsaluk · 10/09/2007 12:50

Good Afternoon everyone.

Went to Bridlington on sunday for a day out with my DS who is 23 months. My DH and my DS both wanted to go on a pirate ship which only took about 15 monutes around the bay, i actually got on the ship for about 5 minutes and felt that sick had to get off, this was when the ship was still in the dock lol.

My DS screamed and screamed for me as i got off i felt really awful, i went to sit on a bench and nearly started cyring, it was awful i felt like i had abandoned him.

When he came back his eyes were red raw from all the crying he did. I almost cryed too, how silly lol.

splishsplosh · 10/09/2007 13:01

I'm feeling really tired, and very grumpy - the good side is I hope this means the baby is ok, the bad side is I seem to be arguing constantly with dp. Feeling v frustrated as he is the one having lie ins at the weekend, when I feel it should be me, at least 1 day! He says he'll need to help out more when we have 2.....am not optimistic!!

Felt queasy when out this morning, but thought it could be hunger so had coffee and cake to be on the safe side! Then felt guilty, so went shopping and bought stacks of fruit, veg & lentils, and have vowed to start being more healthy. Except for some happy making chocolate of course.

V1KK1M · 10/09/2007 13:23

Hi All,

I hope you all had a good weekend

I am feeling really bad at the moment with a migraine - I've had it for 4 days now and am taking 2 paracetamols every 7-8 hours.

I spoke to the GP testerday who assured me that it wouldn't harm the baby but it doesn't stop me worrying, especially as my m/c started with a migraine last time.

I have a scan next Thursday so I am trying to stay calm until then and whilst my boobs are still tender I am trying not to panic. But I can sympathise with all you that are in a bad mood as this has got me feeling really down.

On the plus side last night was the first night I didn't have to get up for a wee

MrsThreads · 10/09/2007 13:45

I am usually a gym-aholic or going on nice long bike rides but I have done neither since pregnant mainly due to being totally knackered and cautious. I have gained 7lbs in 8 weeks which isn't too bad as appetite is huge and not always being healthy.

I have more PMT type feelings than feeling emotional - poor H as sometimes I erupt over nothing.

I have starting waking up in the night needing the loo and something to eat again. Seems to come and go.

Hope you are all OK and had a nice weekend

xx

Soph73 · 10/09/2007 13:49

V1KK1M - sorry to hear about your migraine
Good luck for the scan. I didn´t need to get up for a wee either last night, which is the first time for about a week

loisstella · 10/09/2007 14:31

Jo71. sorry if my message upset you - I don't remember why I said it or even if it was aimed at you... certainly wasn't meant to hurt anybody's feelings and I am sorry I made you feel crap - I was having a pretty crap day myself on Friday.

I'm off to get my private 8 week scan done in a minute.
Had some abdominal pain and am of course thinking the worst like etopic...(but am pretty sure it's just contstipation)

Hope you're all doing well.
some ladies must be starting to approach the magic 12th week!

Soph73 · 10/09/2007 14:42

loisstella - good luck with the scan. I also get pains, didn´t even think about ectopic, is that something to worry about? I am quite constipated though (sorry if TMI )

ToastAddict · 10/09/2007 14:49

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you'd get to 8 weeks with an ectopic without knowing about it. It would be very painful.

Good luck with the scan loisstella

Yep, I too can add constipation to my glorious list of pg symptoms - oh joy.

Soph73 · 10/09/2007 14:56

toastaddict - phew! Thinking about it you must be right, you couldn´t possibly get to 8 wks could you without knowing there was something wrong? I don´t remember being this paranoid with DS Maybe that´s another symptom, or my age

Peachy · 10/09/2007 17:52

Almost 12 weeks now yes, well 11 this week anyway. Am on medication for the sickness now as GP agreed that I was close to drip status but the meds are knowcking me out severely, so haven't been on much. Hopefully should all start to fade over next 4 weeks, by revious pgs.

haven't gained any weight- got a small bump and had to buy mat jeans today, but a size smaller than pre-pg as have lost 1-2 stones.

feeling a bit negative about everything to put it mildly, hoping I will pick up a bit when the sickness wears off

Daftmoo · 10/09/2007 18:27

Loisstella - how did the scan go???

I had an ante-natel appt with my gp today, I've lost about 1kg since finding out I'm pregnant, not sure how that happened as I've been eating for Britain, I'm still REALLY spotty and felt very out of place in the gp's waiting room, which was full of very pregnant women, all of them glowing

According to my scan I'm 10weeks+1 today, although my gp has really confused me about my dates, leaving me wondering if she really knew what she was talking about

Are you all getting more cravings???? I'm seriously into salt & vinegar hula hoops, those covent garden soups and Angel cake. I'm really craving salt...bad I know.

I went on Mamas and Papas in southampton yesterday (just for a look) OMG, big mistake....I wanted to buy everything, try everything on, touch everything....I'm loving that shop and dp's credit card is gonna hate it....hehehe

Hope everyone is ok

x
