Kel01 - I am constantly starving too, and getting fatter by the second. Am just trying to snack on fruit etc but isn't always working! (as I write am snarfling biscuits )

loisstella - try not to worry. Depending on how near you are to end of 12 weeks your symptoms may derease naturally - and I have found that mine have waxed and waned anyway. My mate was worried hers were lessening, so she went for a scan but no probs, beanie jumping around merrily and all well. If you are concerned speak to your GP but otherwise try (hard I know) not to fret too much xxx

Hi All been away for a few days well not away away just not posting away

Am feeling really positive about tuesday (my scan) although have to go on my own which is a bummer but there you go!

re the weight thing I put on 6 yes 6 stone having my DS I must be the only women to come out of the hospital (was only in 24 hours) after having DS weighing 1lb more than when i went in anyway managed to lose 4 stone over the last 2 years so am still 2 stone too big well its more like 3 as was not ideal to begin with and am only 6+5 and have put on 5lbs am really trying to get hold of it as being so big could be why I am have back aches already so dont want to be any bigger! I am starting swimming agian now the kids are back at school so that should help I would like to end up this weight in nine months. Also where I am a size 20 people will just think I am fat rather than pregnant thats what happened last time although I went up to a size 26 having DS so on the weight front i think I win

I have a Q if they dont hear a heart beat next Tuesday - I will be 7+2 what happens will they do bloods to see whats happening jus a little worried - positive but a little worried

loisstella · 07/09/2007 11:03

Thanks Ellie. Only 7+5 at the moment...
Oh well. I'm gonna do another lunchtime pregnancy test (my third) to calm myself and I have a private scan on Monday! Hopefully that will sort me out.

lemonaid · 07/09/2007 11:06

Bah, I didn't get an early scan in spite of previous m/cs (well, I suspect that when I started spotting I probably could have done, but it was just before a Bank Holiday weekend and I needed to know, hence the private scan.)

TLSM -- if they can't find a heartbeat they'll probably just book you in for another scan a week later. They might do bloods but a repeat scan is more likely, I think.

TheMaskedPoster · 07/09/2007 11:11

loisstella - I am feeling a lot like you today ... somewhat up and down and worrying over lots of things (I too get pains in my stomach when I turn to reach things etc).

I am still feeling sick, on and off - but not as much as I was. My energy levels are fluctuating a great deal too at the moment, usually full of beans in the morning only to be wracked with fatigue in the afternoons.

I was craving sweet things, but that has been overtaken by CHEESE! I just can't get enough of it - cheese on anything for me! The thing is I am eating it just before sleeping too and therefore having mad, mad dreams....

Good luck aprilfoolsbaby on the new thread and congrats on the scan etc

Hope you all are well and resting when you can

x TMP (10 weeks)

Jo71 · 07/09/2007 11:13

Sally - re your folic acid question - don't overdose to catch up just keep taking as normal - I was on industrial strength and still take it during my pregnancy due to epilepsy and increased risk of spina bifida and was told by gyni if i missed a dose just carry on as normal as body does absorb and hold on to it and it is in a lot of food - good luck to all on this thread - this was me this time last year and brings back loads of memories we had 6 scans all together due to history of M/C so anyone out there worried speak to your doctors we had first scan at 8 weeks and she looked like a prawn second at 12 third @ 15 with amnio due to high downs in blood results all were fine 4th @ 20 5th at 25 this is standard with long people on long term medication and 6th @ 30. my life saver before I wanted to tell everyone at work was the travel sickness bands they really worked for me but the trick is to take them off when you start to feel hungry lots of love to all and your growing babas xxx

loisstella · 07/09/2007 12:10

punctuation?

Mollyfloss · 07/09/2007 13:25

I had a scan last week but at first the doctor couldn't see anything as my uterus is retroverted (which is common) so I was scheduled in for a vaginal scan the next day. They can get a much better view with a vaginal scan so ask them for it if at all possible and don't worry it is not uncomfortable at all.

I have only put on a little weight according to the scales but my stomach is getting huge all the same! My jeans are way too uncomfortable to put on so I am getting quite limited with clothes but don't want to start wearing maternity stuff quite yet.

Yesterday I was pretty miserable but we went out for drinks with friends last niht (virgin mojito for me!) and I am much more upbeat today I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow... roll on week 12!

ToastAddict · 07/09/2007 13:26

Well, according to that Chinese predictor, I too am having a girl!! I found another version somewhere on the web that showed the chart and basically anyone aged 30-37 who conceived in July will have a girl..... we'll see!

Still feeling sick and tired and fat - think most of my fat is water retention, as it is not so bad in the morning and terrible in the evening. Am struggling to comfortably get into my "fat" jeans, think I'll have to buy some new ones soon.

Just popped out to M&S and got myself measured up for a new bra - am very pleased to see that my normally tiny boobs have gone up 2 cup sizes!!!

My skin is OK (well, that's jinxed it!!) which I am amazed at. I'm using a Boots tea tree and witch hazel facial wash which seems to be keeping the spots at bay.

Has anyone else tried those sea sickness bands? I was thinking of giving them a go as the nausea is really getting to me - whilst it's great to have symptoms to ease my paranoid mind, it does get a bit draining

loisstella · 07/09/2007 13:30

I am in a foul mood - is that a symptom????

ToastAddict · 07/09/2007 13:34

loisstella - oh yes!!

Soph73 · 07/09/2007 13:58

Went to midwife this morning. Am 8 wks. Have 1st blood test on Wed and am going to make a private gynae appointment. Should I wait for wk 12 or go sooner? Thoughts please Am feeling fab apart from very sore boobs (size 40D already - gulp!!) Loisstella - I have frequent bad moods Hubby loves it as you can imagine LOL.

loisstella · 07/09/2007 16:43

Bloody hell. just bumped into a colleague in the loos. 20 weeks pregnant. Did the Nucheal at 12 weeks came back 45/1 for downs (which is extremely high) and had to go for one of those scary sticking a needle in your bump scans.... she's absolutely fine and no downs but I am thinking o - F - we have all this yet to come!!!!

EllieG · 07/09/2007 19:45

I'm getting a scan on thurs! I rang up my doctor and worried at her and she booked me in for one. SO nervous and quite excited but mostly nervous. Have nasty feeling am going to get there any cry from beginning to end whatever the outcome.

Fleecy · 07/09/2007 19:54

According to the gender predictor test, i'm having a girl. But it also said i should have had a boy last year when I had DD so who knows!

lorisparkle · 07/09/2007 20:22

Gosh, the thread has been rather busy since I last visited.

Well me and DS1 were getting over our nasty cold and cough but then wham on Wednesday night he woke at 10pm and cried pretty much all night, even with cuddles and in bed with me. DH and I had a row at about 1am so he was trying to sleep on DS1 bedroom floor. Nightmare. It was my first day back at work on Wednesday so I thought it might be that but in the morning DS1 kept falling asleep (very unlike him), coughed and made himself sick, and was very clingy (very very unlike him). I had razor blades in my throat and couldn't talk so I had a day off work (not good for your second day back when you are only working 2 days a week) took DS1 to the Drs and he has a chest infection.

I took 1 paracetomol for my throat (and now feel guilty) but am feeling better today.

DH and DS1 still unwell though.

On the pg front nothing new here - still feeling sick, have lost weight but have a fat stomach, and exhausted so off to bed soon!

mrsgaskell · 07/09/2007 20:37

I'm seeking reassurances on two counts

Is it ok that I've barely taken any folic acid? I've been so dizzy and rubbish about it. I eat lots of brown bread. Do you think that's ok? I sort of can't bear to think about it. I'm 8 weeks now. Is it worth starting now?

Also - and I should say here that I have a 15 month old DD already - I can't quite get the energy up to go the the GP yet. I've booked in for private nuchal at 12 weeks and think I'll wait until then to think about hospitals. Is that ok do you think?

RLR · 07/09/2007 22:11

hi ladies can i join this tread again as ive not been added on this list but was on the last one, i had an internal scan because of the pains and all seems well just got to see if the pains go in time as the doctor wasnt sure 100% what was causing them.

hope all u ladies are feeling well, im sick all the time smells are the worst they set me off too.

RLR · 07/09/2007 22:12

im due on 22 april.

EllieG · 08/09/2007 13:18

Mrs G - think is OK about folic acid but I would start taking if I were you, as you still have a good few weeks left of first trimester.

Only thing I need to go to GP for before scan is soem blood tests at 8 weeks, so might be worthwhile making an appointment whenever you feel up to it x

Hi all,

Have been reading lots but have not written in a long while. Reading everyone's comments has really helped over the past month or so, so thanks to everyone.

The chinese predictor predicts a boy for me - one of the few boys to be born in April, as far as I can make out!

A couple of questions:
Is anyone exercising - I've read that moderate exercise is good, and can make labour a bit easier, but I have barely had the energy to get through the day without going out and exercising aswell?

I've also heard that iron is quite good to improve fatigue levels, but that I should see a doctor to discuss the options - is anyone else taking any supplements other than folic acid?

ToastAddict · 08/09/2007 16:07

I am currently doing no exercise which I am feeling quite guilty about - I either feel too tired or too sick! I don't normally do as much as I should, but I really feel I ought to be doing something now.....

I was thinking about going swimming, as that is recommended, but at the weekends our local pool is full of screaming kids - I want a slow sedate swim!! And evenings are when my sickness is worse as well as being knackered.

To be honest, I'm just giving into my body - hopefully in a few weeks the fatigue and nausea won't be so bad (famous last words!) and I'll be able to do something

Re: iron - I'm taking the Sanatogen pregnancy multivits which have iron and folic acid in them. I'm veggie, so worried about going anaemic, so think I may get a blood test next week. Also my diet is so crap at the mo, I need the supplements

It's worth noting that too much iron (and I mean a LOT) can actually be harmful to the baby, so it's always worth checking with a doctor or pharmacist before you start taking something.

x

EllieG · 08/09/2007 16:35

I went for a session with a personal trainer today, and tbh I wish I hadn't as have been so tired for the rest of the day that haven't been able to do anything and been really snappy. I have been trying to keep up the gym thing but it has slipped, just too tired, and I think that's your body telling you to slow down, so there's nothing wrong with listening to it. Am going to try for some exercise that doesn't make me want to cry at the thought of it instead, maybe swimming or cycling. But I think for the moment I have to accept I just am being a bit more slowed down, and it's not going to do any massive harm. That said, I have put on another couple of pounds, (total now 6 eek!) so maybe I need to try a leeeetle bit harder

ToastAddict · 08/09/2007 16:45

Wow, very impressed Ellie!

I've been going through my worst (so far) feeling sick phase for a few days - fortunately haven't been sick yet, but definitely feel like I am going to be

Think that exercise may just push me over the edge, which wouldn't be very nice and depending on where I was, could be quite embarassing!!

EllieG · 08/09/2007 16:51

Thanks but I did have to run off because I thought I was going to be sick today when he made me run though, so is not that impressive
