SMcg - Good luck and the others are right that the outcome is your decision.

I heard the heartbeat for the first time today I had another trip to the doc's as I have another major migraine and just wanted some more reassurance about paracetamol taking!

I hope everyine else is OK?

TheMaskedPosTERROR · 05/10/2007 13:07

Have only had a quick skim read of latest messages - good luck smcg xxx

TheMaskedPosTERROR · 05/10/2007 13:13

Re the fashion side of things - I have only bought a pair of Jeans from New Look so far and am not planning on going mad on lots of new things (well that's the plan). I am however popping into JoJo Maman Bebe this weekend to pick up a couple of these as my friend has one and says it is brilliant.

TheMaskedPosTERROR · 05/10/2007 13:14

oh and congrats on hearing the heartbeat V1KK1M

dolly1 · 05/10/2007 13:22

Scorpio why don't you try Tommys the baby charity - they have a call a midwife help line. Can't remember the number but google it and you'll find their website.
I called them very early on when I had a bad tummy bug and they were great.
Hopefully they will help to put your mind at rest.

V1kk1M - congrats on hearing the heartbeat - magic isn't it?!
The pic I got from today's scan is front on he looks like a little alien!
So weird to think it's only a matter of of six months till we can cuddle them eh?!

Soph73 · 05/10/2007 13:31

smcg - good luck & let us know how you're doing in the future. v1kk1m - it's brill isn't it? scorpio - of course you're not being silly, try what dolly suggests Hello lsm I´m also trying to eat healthily but I'm struggling.

Soph73 · 05/10/2007 13:34

Have just been to the dining room to watch DS's class sing happy birthday to him - aaahhh Was very good & resisted the cake {{smugness radiates outward}} The Art teacher made him a badge which is as big as his head - bless They grow up so quick!!

TheMaskedPosTERROR · 05/10/2007 13:41

oh how sweet S73,

hope your ds has a very magical birthday!

EllieG · 05/10/2007 13:54

Ah...feel all heatwarmed by soph's story now

OP posts:
loisstella · 05/10/2007 14:24

SMCG - my friend had one in 40 and someone else I know about 1 in 10. They did the scary test (with needle in belly) and thye came back all clear.

I completely understand your freak out and its exactly why I will not have the Nuchal scan test - I don't want to feel scared or anxious about something I know might not happen anyway or indeed change my decision to carry this baby.

I do hope you can find some peace in whatever decision you make and that you will be able to enjoy this pregnancy. I actually do hope you will stay in touch with us (me). I really enjoyed talking with you.

xx

Soph73 · 05/10/2007 14:48

Pleased you all feel warm & fuzzy Quick question - does anyone feel a pulling sensation - like your belly button being pulled from the inside? It´s not an unpleasant sensation it's like beanie's trying to rope climb ..... Or have I gone completely mad & lost the plot???!!!!

Soph73 · 05/10/2007 15:28

Am off in a mo. Have good weekends everyone - must prepare myself for house invaded by small people on Sunday

V1KK1M · 05/10/2007 15:30

Soph73 - that is so sweet.

I have felt that belly button tugging before and surprisingly I used to get it before I was pregnant so I am sure it is perfectly normal and just hormones and things!

Hearing the heatbeat was wonderful and I wanted to take the machine home. I feel slightly sad that DH was no there with me but there is still plenty of time to hera it again!

lemonaid · 05/10/2007 16:19

TheMaskedPosTERROR -- there's someone on eBay who does those (in a range of colours) cheaper than JoJo (at least they look like the same thing to me). Could be worth checking out.

smcg -- I hope you didn't feel got at. I really, genuinely, think it needs to be your decision and if you've already made your decision then that's great (well, not "great", obviously. It would be better if you weren't in the position to need to think about making a decision. But I hope you see what I mean).

lemonaid · 05/10/2007 16:23

I haven't had the belly-button pulling this time yet, but I remember having it last time.

Hi everyone,

well I finally added my name to the list of edd.

Had 12wk scan/booking in appt this morning. I'm now been told i'm 13 +3 and not 12+3 as from early scan. LO was jumping and I mean jumping about the screen - such a relief to see. This hosp is sooo much nicer than the hosp I went to last time I was preg.

Will now go and read all the posts for today - just had to do this first

chipmonkey · 05/10/2007 16:52

Lovely to hear about jumping baby, positive! I have a nuchal scan in 10 days and am feeling a bit nervous about it.

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 05/10/2007 16:52

SMCG- we had high risk results with ds3 so I know how youa re feeling , we chose not to have Amnio however- for us the risk of miscarriage was worse than the risk of Downs Syndrome, which we knew we could cope with- that decision ahs to be entirely eprsonal i think. It's probably somewhat easier for me as I have spent much time with people who have Downs Syndrome, as I owrked in the field for a while. DS3 didn't have Downs Syndrome- he does however have ASD, and is unlikely to ever be truly independent: something else worth considering in the balnce I feel, so many poelpe seem to think the tests are an all-clear, they're not at all- many, many disabilities just are not testable. DS3 is, however, a trulya dorable child and an absolute pleasure. My oldest (I ahve 3) is also on the spectrum, he's a lot ahrder work truth be told, so disability can vary immensely- I would never be one to write off the strain of living with and loving a disabled child!.

It is totally a personal choice and there is no right or romg here. FWIW I am not having tests bar scans this time, I feel tehre's no point butt hat is for me. Only you know yourself, your family. if you haev doubts do post a thread for Eidsvold or Thomcat (or one of the otehr mums on here with a child who has Downs) as having a picture of real life with the condition is often useful I think.

Good luck and hugs again, I know how hard the decisions you face may be. X

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 05/10/2007 16:55

Thought i'd post this separately- just a hi as not been on for a day or two. very little to report really, getting sligtly worried abot amount of peole pointing out how small my bump is but then ahve had a history of IUGR and DS3 stooped growing for a while (started again when I packed in work early) so it's nto sur[rising I am worried reallY! Scan on Wednesday will be a relief, however I know my adtes are bang on, as Dh was working so toehrwise an immaculate conception LOL!

munchkinmum · 05/10/2007 17:43

Helloooooo

Can I finally added my name to the list please as I had my booking scan today. EDD 20/4/08 (same date as my DD's birthday!!!).

Saw my little mumchkin number 2 bopping around and kicking it's legs like a ninja child!!

Am 11 + 5 today so very happy. Have seen the baby, seen a heartbeat, so all is well with the world.

Hi to all other mums to be!

siameez · 05/10/2007 18:30

Hi everyone
I've finally plucked up the courage to come over from the ttc after miscarriage list (thanks Ellie!) and was intending to lurk rather than post but started reading through the Downs/CVS messages.

We've just had the same sort of news - we got a 1 in 192 chance from the nuchal and were refused blood tests because apparently it would be 'confusing' to have two probability figures! Surely that should be up to us to decide?

We knew we definitely wouldn't have any further tests having had one miscarriage already this year and couldn't face the anxiety but knowing we won't know now till the birth or later is much harder than I thought it would be! I know SMCG said she wasn't going to be around but in case you are SMCG, I'm really feeling for you!

Still, Downs or not, ours is due April 1st so as I'm feeling generally positive this week, hope to lurk around this thread till then

chipmonkey · 05/10/2007 19:51

Welcome, siameez!

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 05/10/2007 19:55

Oooh how exciting, new people!!
I'm beginning to get really jealous of all those heart beats, I forgot at my scan that I had heard heartbeats with my other two children, and don't see the midwife again til the 22nd!! Argh, I wanna hear my baby!!!
