I think the lack of choccie is sadder

TheMaskedPosTERROR · 04/10/2007 16:06

and lovely news mrsgaskell.
I'm using that Palmers cocoa butter too as it also worked a treat for me last time

Soph73 · 04/10/2007 16:17

Thank you maskedposterror feeling a bit better now, nearly home time & then I can attack the enormous bag of M&Ms I bought yesterday

dolly1 · 04/10/2007 16:28

How lovely that everyone is having their scans. I have another one tomorrow morning just to check all is well after the CVS but I feel fine so not worried - no bleeding or anything.
Can't wait for the results! So excited.
And bizarrely bump has literally popped out today so if I get a good result tomorrow I'm off to get new clothes!
Has anyone else seen the lovely maternity stuff in Zara? Stunning jackets and smocks.
And what jeans are we all going for? I'm thinking Citizens of Humanity cause they seem to get the best reviews. There are whole threads on here dedicated to jeans and I can totally see why - I live in mine. Also think James look nice.
And have found an amazing American company called Pea in a Pod (well worth googling) that do gorgeous cashmere sweaters amongst other things.
Can't seem to find any nice ones in the UK so going to get some sent over.
Can you tell I'm a little obbsessed with my new wardrobe?!
Anyone else bought any nice goodies yet?

Also got the dates for my NCT classes in today - anyone else had theirs yet?
All seeming much more real now isn't it?!

lemonaid · 04/10/2007 16:59

I have some bits from last time, and I just bought a couple more tops from Jojo today. I'm just in Jojo jeans, too -- I like bootcut and over-the-bump style and they do some like that that are a good fit for me, so I'm not worrying about going for the more designer ranges.

Do all the Zara stores carry their maternity range?

dolly1 · 04/10/2007 17:43

No sure Lemonaid but I know the one off Kings Road does and the one in that big shopping centre at Queensway. You're south London based aren't you? Sure High Street Ken will have it too. Well worth a look.
I want over the bump too but with belt loops - do not want to have to keep pulling them up all the time.
Also have a look in Gap on High Street Ken if you are down that way as that store and the one on Oxford Street stock their maternity range. I've seen a few nice things in there but they only every have mediums and larges left by the time I get there. Must find out when deliveries are as the smalls seem to go quick.

lemonaid · 04/10/2007 18:02

[rubs hands together] I'll need a large, so I shall definitely have to check it out if there are plenty around. When I was pregnant with DS Gap weren't doing their maternity range in the UK and I got several bits of it off eBay instead.

loisstella · 04/10/2007 18:23

Girls - can I have a little rant please?
I am furious!

I have been in NYC for the past few days (which was glorious by the way - got some great & cheap maternity clothes there as well). for our one year wedding anniversary.

I came back Tuesday, logged on at home and then went straight to a conference on Wednesday (it's my job - I run events and conferences). I have been running around fixing things all day yesterday and even more so today - was up at 7, and started running at 7:45. At 5PM I have a meeting with the speakers, one being a very senior Director of the company I work for.
He says: "Lois you look a bit knackered". I say: "I have been working all day and I am pregnant Brian". He says: Little silly to go to NYC before a conference though" I say: "yeah but I didn't want to cancel my anniversary for a conference, and I travel all the time and normally bounce back quickly but I admit it's tougher when you're pregnant - I get tired much quicker". He says: " Well you shouldn't fly in your first trimester anyway". I turn bright red and say: "cheers Bri - as if I wasn't already nervous about having flown in the first place!"

Bloody hell - these insesitive bastards.
ARGH!
What's wrong with men? How is thta comment going to make me feel better?

Sorry - needed to get that off my chest.
How are you all?
I just noticed there's a June pregnancy thread on MN.... we're getting into the proper pregnancy zone aren't we ladies?
Exciting!

lemonaid · 04/10/2007 18:35

He's talking bollocks, as well. Repeated flying (on the scale that you would do if you were cabin crew, for example) isn't recommended but there is no research-based evidence that it's in any way harmful for the rest of us. Unless he went off and got some kind of medical qualification while you were in New York without mentioning it...?

positive · 04/10/2007 18:37

HI everyone,

i'm still on the sidelines looking in on you all from time to time. I'm sooo glad to hear that everyone is getting on so well with there scans.
My scan is tomorrow (will be 12 +3), so WHEN that goes well I'll hopefully have the courage to add my name onto the list for April as lost our lo at 19wks last time.

S73, you have my sympathy over clothes. I'm a UK size 18-20 and 5' 9'' and its soo hard to get decent maternity clothes in bigger sizes. As for the chocolate, it makes me ill at the moment - Oh what I would given to be able to eat a bar of galaxy right now.

SAGITTA, as for going to India, just remember that travel insurance normally only covers you up to 28wks - you'd need to check with your employer if you'd be covered - its not worth taking the chance going if you have no medical insurance.

good vibes and positive thoughts xx

loisstella · 04/10/2007 18:37

Hehe - I know - what an idiot right?
Called DH to tell him, and he said, actually he's incorrect and its the last 8 weeks where its unwise to fly.
Love it when my hubbie sticks up for me.

loisstella · 04/10/2007 18:43

I think the maternity choices are pretty poor in the UK also - I thought Isabella Oliver was nice but actually its all so balck and I find some things rtaher cheap looking.
Was in US last week and got some really great stuff from there... Some nice knits and some cheap jeans.
Am also UK 18/20 and IO do have clothes in those sizes... I believe it's the bottoms more than the tops that are difficult for us big bummed girls.

positive · 04/10/2007 19:10

loisstella,

so agree about maternity clothes in US. I bought loads of maternity /joggers when I was there on honeymoon OMG thats nearly 2yrs ago! Ok I dont dress in the hot fashion for 'tennagers' but I do like to be up-to-date but getting tops to fit right now is soo hard. its either normal sizes or maternity fit which is too big.

anyone got any suggestions where else to buy in the UK??

positive · 04/10/2007 19:11

That should have been maternity trousers/joggers - maternity brain setting in again

Daftmoo · 04/10/2007 19:24

Im wearing NEXT's over the bump/boot cut maternity jeans and they are absolutely fab....I'm normally a 14/16 so not little and these make me feel great as they are soooo roomy around the thighs and bum

Crave Maternity always looks good. Also Push Maternity.

dolly1 · 04/10/2007 20:13

Loistella - what a twat. If he upsets you again make some joke about a woman you heard who sued her boss for making comments about her pregnancy. That'll shut him up!

As for maternity gear, I'd add Blossom in Chelsea to the list too and Seraphine on Ken Church Street - they both have internet shopping too. They have lovely stuff but I don't know about sizes.
M&S have nice bits on their website and as I said earlier Gap have a great range. Also Topshop have some nice stuff. More of a class girl myself so some of their stuff is a bit 'Girls Aloud' for me!

Positive - so much luck for tomorrow my dear. Looking forward to seeing your name on the list.

Can I also ask about something else I know we'll all love chatting about - crown to rump length!

Now, I used a clear blue fertility monitor so I know that there is no way on gods earth I ovulated before day 18 making me 11+1 the other day when I had my scan, but with the whole last peroid thing I was 11+4.
Fully expected doc to tell me I was a bit small for dates and I'd then say 'oh well I ov'd late' like I did with past three scans.
But no - this little monster is measuring more like 12 weeks! A week bigger than he should be! 53.1mm!

According to the doc that is totally fine but am little bit concerned this means I'm set for an 11lbs baby! And the 'what goes in must come out' aspect of it all has just hit me!

I was a big baby myself so this fates way of getting me back I think!

I know this is turning in to an essay, but I have another question - did your bump just pop out over night?!
Yesterday jeans did up, today I'm really struggling!
My massive child has forced me to walk around all day with my fly undone!

dolly1 · 04/10/2007 20:23

by the way I meant 'classic' girl, not 'class' girl! Typing too fast suddenly turned me into a raving snob!

micegg · 04/10/2007 20:29

Yes - I have just bumped out over night as well. I could wear some trousers a few days ago which are today impossible. This is baby number 2 and I am sure I hadn't 'popped' so early last time so its very comforting to know I am not the only one. Just had a look at the website you suggested (blossom). Lovely clothes. I would also recommend Pretty Pregnant in clapham who also do online shopping. I am planning a bit of a spend this weekend.

dolly1 · 04/10/2007 20:38

Me too Micegg! Dh has the rugby to entertain him so I'm hitting the shops. That is if I get the all clear with my CVS - have suddenly got very presumptuious that all will be fine when I don't know that for sure.
Ah well I'm enjoying being positive anyway.

And while I am glad to hear that you have popped out too, this is my first baby so note sure I should be 'popping' so soon!

I'm quite a skinny bird so maybe it's that it doesn't have anywhere to hide?!
Well that's what I'm going to keep telling myself anyway! Instead of the slightly scary thought that I have godzilla in there!

Mollyfloss · 04/10/2007 20:52

I'm was 12+5 when I had the scan yesterday and the crown to rump length was 66.3mm. I think that is supposed to be pretty big but I'm not sure if that means the baby will necessarily be big when it comes out. Maybe some grow more at different stages. Anyway, even if it is big when it comes out that's a good thing. A big baby is a healthy baby or so I've heard!

Regarding maternity clothes, I splashed out at Formes about 10 days ago. It's not cheap but well worth it. The clothes have a lovely cut and feel so comfy. I bought one little black dress that can be worn very casually or dressed up so I know I will get loads of wear out of it (I already have). I also bought a dressy red dress which I think i will get a lot of wear out of around Christmas and two tops which are ultra comfy and feel divine. Again, it wasn't cheap but well worth the investment in my opinion as they are timeless clothes that I will hopefully get wear out of in other future pregnancies!

lemonaid · 04/10/2007 21:10

I was 12+6 for my scan and CRL was 69.5mm that was on the larger side of average but not huge. At this stage there's not much difference between them, to be honest at the 20 week scan you should get a better idea of whether you're having a whopper (I am expecting to have another big baby after my experience with DS, so I'll actually be surprised if this one is measuring more average).

Trying to decide if it's worth ordering anything on the Internet at the moment with the postal strike the way it is... not sure who uses Royal Mail and who uses couriers to deliver.
