TLSM, I was the same last night, sobbing for no reason at all! And telling dh "Really, I don't know why I'm crying!"

Piccalilli2 · 01/10/2007 08:11

Just upating my details.

I have suddenly got really fat over the weekend, definitely looking pregnant and nothing fits me anymore. I'm terrified about putting on too much weight this time as I gained over 4 stone with dd and have only just lost it. Does anyone know roughly how much weight it's OK to have put on by the end of the first trimester? Otrher than that, feeling generally much better, so much less tired.

Piccalilli2 i put on 6 stone having my DS and have only lost 4 of it! My DS is 3
I am 10+1 today and am really worried about putting on more weight! i have put on 2 lbs so far so i am happy with that but I have started swimming and am really making sure that i dont go mental and eat like a pig

Daftmoo · 01/10/2007 11:17

My gp told me that they now recommend you dont put on any weight in pregnancy....surely that can't be right??? My flabber was so gasted that I didn't question her about it....duhhh !!!

I've got my nuchal scan tomorrow....I'm bricking it

x

scorpio1 · 01/10/2007 11:48

I'm sure recommended weight gain in whole of pg is something like 28lbs, about 4 in the first trimester? Although i personally think it is what it is. Before i fell pg with my first ds i was 8 stone 2 lbs, and im 5 '10! I put on 4 stone when pg with him and i truly beleive it was because i needed it, IYSWIM? Last time i started at 8 stone 8lbs and the day before i had him i was 10 6 lbs. Im about 9 stone 3 ish now, and am 12+3. Hoping to stay under 11 stone again, because i want to get back into my size clothes again I have started swimming about 2 a week and im starting yoga once a week in the next week or two. I'm having treats but only one or two small ones a day.

And i do not want any stretchmarks! i have survived my last 2 pregnancies stretchmark free, and want to continue the trend, please!

My DP won his fight last night; he fights professionally (Thai Boxing) as his hobby. We have a nice big trophy now! He has agreed not ot have a fight around the time of baby though, because it takes up alot of time- 5 evenings and sundays. [i get bored!]

Good luck to all those with scans-i have another NHS one on Thursday to check that vein thing. Not worried though.

I am deffo less sick, hardly at all now. Still tired and weeing once a night! Am trying to enjoy it because i suspect this is my last baby

How is everyone else?

scorpio1 · 01/10/2007 11:49

Weight gain info

lemonaid · 01/10/2007 11:58

Your GP told you that???

Go back and ask for the information that backs that up. She shouldn't be saying stuff like that.

I'm in the high BMI category so hoping not to gain too much. Only gained 1lb in the first trimester, so that's a good start.

scorpio1 · 01/10/2007 12:01

surely it cant be true because then you would actually have to lose all that weight in theory! So after birth i would be like 6 stone?? Bloody GP's!

ToastAddict · 01/10/2007 12:02

My first day back at work after being confined to the sofa last week - it's horrible being back!!!
Have to go out and get lunch now.

Interesting about the weight gain, I haven't been brave enough to weigh myself recently, but my tummy is making itself obvious!! I may have decided to wait til my next scan at 13 weeks to go public, but my tummy wants to do it now!

Good luck for everyone who has scans in the next few days

Peachy · 01/10/2007 12:10

I don't generally gain much in pg but gain loads when breastfeedinga s am starving LOL! And you know, I went to WW and lost it and some more besides- so I refuse to worry!

I have huge stretchmearks- gaining over a stone overnight (bloody pre-eclamptic oedema!) tends to haev that effect LOL.... was in hospital anyway nd the MW said 'goodness you've severe stretchmarks' I said 'pardon, didn't think I had any'- looked down and was covered! next day they induced- surprise surprise!

scorpio1 · 01/10/2007 12:11

Peachy that sounds horrible....what you went through not your stretchmarks!

Peachy · 01/10/2007 12:11

nah, the stretchmarks are worse.. thay lasted LOL, the rest was over in a week

scorpio1 · 01/10/2007 12:13

my friend had quite bad ones and used bio-oil religiously, they are now just silvery and not as noticeable.

Im using The Sanctuary Mum-To-Be cream, with matching bubble bath and shower gel, is yum!

Kirbo · 01/10/2007 12:17

I was starting to feel very smug about having lost weight due to MS and losing my appetite but over the weekend I think I have put on the 10 pounds I lost (appetite is back better than ever now and MS is only every other day ) and my stomach is starting to round out a bit - eeeek. This is my first pregnancy and it feels like my body has been taken over - very scary but nice at the same time When are you meant to go mad with the Bio oil to prevent strech marks?

scorpio1 · 01/10/2007 12:19

i don't think it would hurt to start now, i always did straight away all 3 times, and i have none [touch wood]. Especially if your tummy is growing now . Mine is deffo a bump!

TheMaskedPoster · 01/10/2007 12:56

Hello ladies

Had to go and buy a pair of Maternity jeans today as my usuals are definitely on the snug side. Also a maternity T-shirt as mine seem to be creeping up above my waist and exposing my expanding belly. Must admit it is nice to be comfy again.

I have only put on about 2lb so far (13+3) but can feel this is going to increase drastically due to my new dependency on cheese (and bread!). Am trying to be good and eat fruit, but sometimes the chocolate wins! AND I'm eating puddings when I never usually do. Ah well, gonna enjoy while I can and then do the hard graft afterwards (put on loads with dd + with breastfeeding, but lost it all after a year or so.)

Good luck to all those with scans xxx

EllieG · 01/10/2007 13:26

I have decided to try and stop weighing myself as I think it is the root to unhappiness (being a bit eating disordered in the past) and I am certainly not going to get thinnner now, so isn't any point in worrying. Went out at weekend and bought some lovely long comfy jumpers and now am feeling all cosy and comfy and not squeezed, which is making me much happier.
As for hormonal moods - I nearly cried because someone said something funny yesterday - ridiculous.
I used to do a bit if thai boxing scorpio! Not much and was crap but really enjoyed it. Does take time though, used to train 4 times a week in my skinnier fitter days. Now I mostly sits and eats.

OP posts:
V1KK1M · 01/10/2007 13:29

I have put on a stone (13+5)

Mostly cause I am eating anything and everything and I'm hoping it will start to slow down and I'm hoping Breast feeding will help it come off again

WindUpBird · 01/10/2007 13:30

So....do you reckon bio oil really the best one to use to prevent stretchmarks?? I think I used a variety of lotions last time and only got a few stretchmarks once I went overdue. I was so smug till then! Haven't started using anything yet, but need to get something. What's everyone else using?

TheMaskedPosTERROR · 01/10/2007 13:34

hmmm stretch marks ... I am using Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula, which I used last time and worked fine for me. Trying to put it on once a day at the moment, but often forget!

WindUpBird · 01/10/2007 13:35

I know what you mean about being hormonal....I've become a bit addicted to X Factor , having never seen it before and I'm an emotional wreck by the end of it! In my last pg I remember bursting into tears during the winter olympics when an ice-skater fell on the ice!

I seem to have put on loads of weight too, but I only wear my maternity clothes in secret Hopefully after my scan next week I can go public!

WindUpBird · 01/10/2007 13:37

I mostly used the cocoa butter lotion last time - I like the fact it smells of chocolate!!

lemonaid · 01/10/2007 13:40

That could be a good deal -- get pregnant, don't put on any weight, pop out the baby and lose a stone at least, get pregnant again, don't put on any weight, have that baby and lose another stone... a few more children and I could be Kate Moss...

Sadly all the evidence is that stretchmarks are genetic and creams or oils of any type make no difference at all. Mind you, bio oil smells lovely (as do some of the bars from Lush) so if it gives you some pampering "me" time it can't hurt.

I didn't get any stretch marks until 37 weeks last time, and then only on th eunderside of my belly. If DS had been smaller I might hve got away without them entirely. But they all faded really quickly without applying anything, so I'm not bothered about them this time. Besides, my bikini days were never around in the first place are long gone so I shan't be frightening any small children on the beach.

scorpio1 · 01/10/2007 14:36

Another weird pondering-is anyone else getting hairy? Every single pg i get a very hairy tummy and this time its so bad i am not sure if i should purchase a full over up swimming costume. Last two times i wore a bikini until 39 weeks . My chin is also getting very hairy

Can i bleach the hair do you think? or would it be really noticeable? My tummy hair is in a line from ribcage to top of other hairs , right down the middle. DP said the other day was i growing a winter coat to keep him warm!!!

Soph73 · 01/10/2007 15:05

Afternoon all. Haven't read posts yet as been at Dr´s all bdy morning! I´m going to have to leave you lot btw as I´m only 9 weeks not 11 weeks as previously thought so due date is 5 May!! I don´t want to leave you lot though so can I keep gatecrashing? They did a scan & got to see beanies heartbeat and she/he shimmied so very very happy bunny.
